Dileğim Sensin

Rate this book

Wooo, some heavy stuff in this final book in the Wish series.

It is never easy to talk about murder, and child's abduction.

Adrianna, in the first chapter, her boyfriend was killed at the restaurant where both of them work. And she was traumatized, and have to take a break.

Wyatt, who was desperate to find his daughter, who was kidnapped by his own ex-wife, 2 years earlier.

This one, even though tackles such a sensitive issue, was really not well groomed. Because, all of the major events happenings, just take a few days to finish it off.

OK, I am quite surprised with the climax. Basically, Barbara Freethy killed it off pretty quickly. How was the murder of Adrianna's boyfriend solved? Let me repeat this, SO LAME!

I do think the plot was really rushed, the author just take her time to expand the plot when the hero and heroine meets. But the end of the book just went downhill.

I wished that after Wyatt found his daughter, the plot is expanded - on how the daughter accept her father back after such a long time, coping with the loss of her drug addicted mother (she was jailed), and what would Wyatt do next.

Come to the matter of what Wyatt did next?
After the climax, he never meet up with our darling heroine, and just meet her 6 months after that, and declared his undying love. What the????

Thank God I have finished this series. The absurdity of this book.. *_*

Barbara Freethy books are consistently well-written and enjoyable, and When Wishes Collide is no exception. Since so many other reviewers have written great summaries in addition to the one provided by the publisher, I won't provide a recap, just a review. This book covers dark topics (murder, kidnapping and even family challenges), however, it's still light enough to not drag you down and ruin the fact it is a romance with what appears an inevitable HEA. I felt the story was a bit rushed and predictable once the characters met, and everything was a bit too easy to wrap up - anti-climatic even. Nonetheless, I did like the main characters and loved the idea that they met at a wishing well, forged an immediate connection and helped each other through a difficult circumstance. There is a bit of a twist towards the end and all is not guaranteed, and I thought that was one of the more realistic parts of the book. Contemporary Romance fans will enjoy this light, easy read.

I enjoyed all the books in this series but this one was my favorite. I'm not one to give 5 star ratings but this book deserved it IMO. The characters were damaged/hurting and neither changed overnight or without any effort. I loved the children's story - practically living on the streets with little parental help but surviving together and the author didn't go too dark with the topic thank goodness as so many bad things could have happened to them. I'd highly recommend the book and the entire series.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I found myself wrapped up in the characters and story as I always do with a Barbara Freethy book. She has a wonderful way of making her stories so interesting without having to extend beyond the realms of reality.

Very enjoyable read

Loved this story line and the wonderful characters. It kept you reading to see what would happen next. What a beautiful ending of healing and once again trusting someone. Hard to put it down, I read it in two day, while off work.

When Wishes Collide is by Barbara Freethy. This book is wonderful and is impossible to put down until you are finished. The characters are realistic and the plot is one that could easily and most likely does occur often in our lives.
Adrianne Caravello was the chef at Vincento’s in San Francisco. She was doing an excellent job and everyone expected her to be names Head Chef just any time. She was dating Will, the bartender, and it seems like it could be getting serious. Lindsey, one of the sous chefs, found a ring box in Will’s pocket when she pulled his jacket off the coat rack. She surmised that Will was going to ask Adrianne to marry him. Adrianne was not sure about that. When Will came to her after the restaurant closed, he said they needed to talk. Adrianne put him off by saying she promised the children some pizza. She stepped outside to give three homeless kids the pizza when she heard a shot. Knowing it was inside, she cautiously went back into the kitchen. When she got to the bar area, she saw Will on the floor in a pool of blood. He had been shot in the head and didn’t last long.
Inspector Wyatt Randall had spent the last two years looking for his ex-wife and daughter. She had kidnapped Stephanie while on a visitation. Then they totally disappeared. He got a break from a security camera and saw a little girl who looked somewhat like Stephanie. He decided to throw a coin in a fountain and as he did, it hit another coin in midair and knocked one of them into the fountain. Adrianne was the one who threw the other coin and the two met. Wyatt showed her the picture of the kids he was looking for and she recognized them as the ones she gave the pizza to. Thus, starts a hunt for the three kids, the kid’s mother, and Jennifer.
Can they find them?

I’m new to the audiobook bandwagon, and this book probably displayed the things that had me hesitating about them.

I found the narration for this audiobook to be...odd. The story is about a chef in her mid-to-late 20s. She’s quiet, a bit of a loner (the result of a difficult childhood), but the narrator’s voice is a bit sultry - reminding me of a phone sex operator. 😳

That voice didn’t mesh up with the characterization of the heroine.

And when it came time to do the voice of a 12 year old boy, the voice was deep and husky. I’m sure young boy is hard to do, but it made me chuckle at bit.

Story wise, the plot was okay. Ms. Freethy writes solid stories. My only complaint is that no self-respecting chef is going to cook bacon in a microwave. Also, the hero was kinda a jerk for a good deal of time.

This may have been a book that I would have liked better reading it. The narration this time didn’t work for me.

good story but not memorable

I liked the premise of a couple randomly meeting while attempting to make a wish at a fountain. It was interesting to read how the police detective had exhausted many leads in attempting to find his little daughter who had been kidnapped two years prior. It always was fun to see how two heads melded ideas that led in new directions in the search. The language was mostly clean, but the relationship not exactly chaste. There was some growth on the part of both characters. As with most e-books, this could have used a little more professional editing. For the most part, it was quite pleasant reading.

Beautiful

This story touches on so many things, but it brings together two people who need each other to heal past hurts. Adrianna has made something of herself after losing her mom at a young age and running away and living on the streets for a bit, but got a hand up and now works hard as a chef. Wyatt is a cop that is divorced and for the last two years looking for his little girl. And a wishing fountain brings the two of them together.

So heartwarming!!

Everyone loves a happy ending, especially when it's also a happy beginning! Helping others is the path to take! Children don't ask to be born, we bring them into the world and we need to take care of them, love them, teach them and always keep them safe from harm! That's what I loved the most about this story! Putting the welfare of all the children first was the right thing to do! A loving, caring family is the goal!

Six Degrees Of Separation

What begins as a simple coin toss, quickly becomes the answers needed to solve a kid napping and the fight against trauma. Neither Wyatt or Adrianna are prepared for a relationship let alone love ~

Amazing comeback

Thought Adrianna and Wyatt made a good team and loved the children being found and reunited with their dad and other two children making a better life with their mother. Very good read and kept my interest.

I enjoyed this one the most out of the three from the Wish series. These can be read independently, and I definitely recommend this one. The storyline kept me interested, and I found myself rooting for the two main characters. It’s a quick, easy, heartwarming read.

Unfortunately not my kind of book but I thought I would try one of her books. Right from the start it was predictable. If you like mushy love stories then this is for you.
