Introduction: Becoming a columnist for the Grass & Grain was not in my retirement plans; it just happened. When my wife asked me to write something to include in our annual Christmas letter, I sat down to write and came up with some very short essays. She typed them and mailed them with our Christmas cards, one of which went to Frank Buchman, of Grass & Grain. A short time later, Frank came to see me (the author) to ask if he could print the essays in the paper and also asked me to consider continuing with a weekly article. Thus, the "Learning Post" column was born. I thought perhaps I could keep it going for a few weeks or months. It will soon be sixteen years and I am still writing... This year (2007) I decided it was time to publish a collection of the stories. The big job has been in deciding which ones to include that will be of most interest to the readers. By waiting this long, it has meant sorting through about eight hundred of them, hoping to make the right selections. Gordon Morrison.
