Rate this book
When an arsonist sets a series of fires hotter than anything the local firefighters have ever seen, Finn McLain becomes the prime suspect. But all he’s trying to do is find out which of his fellow fire wizards is really guilty.

Niki Hansen is a firefighter who rushes into fires to save those trapped inside but always remains unscathed. She wants nothing more than to find out who’s setting these fires that burn everything down to ash, including the bodies of the victims.

When Finn sees Niki, he realizes she may be the first female fire wizard in a century. When she accuses him of setting the fires, he convinces her he’s innocent. But will he be able to convince her to embrace her unique abilities? While they try to find out who’s behind the fires, they end up starting a few fires of their own.

Fire Wizard by Lauralynn Elliott
Niki Hansen loves being a firefighter. In fact, it’s her whole life. She is there on her days off and all the friends she has are her fellow firemen. She’s drawn to fire and it seems it don’t hurt or burn her. And then things change, someone is starting fires that burn hotter and faster and people are dying.

Finn McLain spots the beautiful firefighter as he stands watching the fire that he knows is not normal. One of their own has gone rogue. Who could it possibly be? He knows every fire wizard in the area. How could they do this? Take lives? And why is he so drawn to that woman who seemed to walk through the flames as she rescued a child?

I really enjoyed this, it had a unique story line and characters that drew you in, like Finn. Others you wanted to smack like the stodgy old council members who had become stale in their comfy positions. Enjoying all the perks of being in charge and bossy without ever really seeming to care. And an old but true lesson...how easy it is to let power go to one’s head.

I have to say Fire Wizard actually sparked a fire in me! One that kept me up all night reading it. Niki Hansen is a firefighter trying to find the person setting fires in her town. Finn McLain, a Fire Wizard, is also trying to find the arsonist but for a different reason. He knows the fires aren't being set by a human but the work of another of his kind. Niki thinks Finn is the arsonist. While Finn thinks Niki might be the first female fire wizard in the last century. Will they be able to work together to find the real arsonist? The chemistry between Finn and Niki was combustible. Also their kisses were beyond hot!!!

Fire Wizard grabbed my attention right from the first chapter and never lost it. Starting with the mystery of Niki's house burning down when she was a teenager to the fires she now faces every day as a firefighter, fire seems to be a constant in her life. I love that Lauralynn Elliot made Niki a strong woman. Niki shows no fear as she runs head first into burning buildings or as she stands up for herself to the aging and out of date council members. Moving onto Finn, I dare you not to fall in love with him. I mean the man can literally start a fire in your heart! Finn is a good man, who is willing to sacrifice himself if that is what is needed. Add in his beautiful eyes and long hair and I'm gone.

I will warn you that Fire Wizards like to eat a lot. I know I definitely started craving the orange tea Finn was making. I asked the author about the orange tea. She swears by adding orange juice or slices to your tea.

Like I said before I stayed up very late to finish reading this book. I had to know if Finn would figure out how to get his emotions under control in time and if the two would be able to come together to catch the bad guy.

This book starts out with a mystery. A fire was set to a house, and the fire is worse than your typical fire. And what's even more strange, Niki Hansen, one of the firefighters, isn't burned in the fire while her co-worker dies from the intense heat of it. Then there is someone Niki suspects was watching her the whole time, and this is likely the same person who deliberately set the fire. But before she can track him down, he's gone. Then there's another fire and another. And each one seems to be worse than the one before. So the questions are, who is setting the fires and why?

While this book is set up with a mystery, it's predominantly a romance. As soon as Finn McLain sees Niki, he suspects she is a fire wizard because she's never harmed in any of the supernatural fires that are being set. Considering the fact that no female wizards have been born in about a century, he also realizes all the male fire wizards will be lining up to be her mate. So while he has a duty to the council to let them know she exists, he would also like to keep it a secret since it'll bide him time to "court" her.

I really enjoyed this book. I don't want to spoil it so I won't say anything else except that this book features the best kissing scenes I've ever read. I could feel the passion between the two characters. But it's also a sweet romance.

I started out reading this author's work before I became her friend. I am friends with her now and beta read this book.

Book's on fire!

Written from outside the story, as if by an observer, this was a hard story for me to get into. Written in alternating first person, I suspect that it would have been much more powerful to me.
That aside, it is definitely a romantic fantasy. The protagonists have super-powers, specifically, the ability to control fire. The heroine doesn't know, but the hero is fully aware of his status as a fire wizard. The villain is rather easily spotted, but the lack of ability to figure it out by the powers that be ends up relatively logical.
The book is very sweet, quite appropriate for any age group. It deals with the risks of power and could serve as a focus for discussion of power and its influence on the individual, as well as the ethics of crime and punishment.

What an awesome book! It will keep you at the edge of your seat with so many twists and turns. A very hard book to put down. Niki is a woman firefighter who does not know she is a Fire Wizard. Finn is a Fire Wizard and Niki believes he has been the one starting the latest fires that burn so hot and colorful. She starts to follow him and they meet up and he tells her about her magical powers. He starts to train her on how to use the powers for good. There still is a rogue Fire Wizard out there that they need to find. The council of Fire Wizards is a bunch of old fuddy duddies who you will want to smack upside the head. There is an attraction between Niki and Finn. Can they work thru everything and be together? Read the book today and follow their adventure. You will not be sorry. I also loved the cover of the book. Such awesome art work to go with the awesome story!
