His power built the walls. Now love threatens to break them down.

Mickey Gallagher has dedicated his life to maintaining the delicate political balance in Washington. But when his boyfriend, Senate-hopeful Andrew Adams, learns he must marry a woman to secure the Maryland seat, the future of their relationship is thrown into jeopardy. Desperate to save his campaign, Andrew’s best friend and successful lobbyist, Evelyn Proctor, agrees to temporarily step in.

Except one evening of indulgence blurs the lines of duty and desire.

While Andrew and Evelyn marry as planned, that single night sparks an undeniable bond between Evelyn and Mickey—one that could haunt all of them for years. Loyalties shift. Secrets build. And the cost of survival begins to feel unbearable. With Washington’s future in Mickey’s hands, being with either of them is a luxury he can’t afford.

What began as a short-term political arrangement soon has all three sacrificing their hearts in the name of politics, leaving them bound by a decade of aching desire they can’t escape.

Now, as the world they gave up everything to protect threatens to collapse, Mickey must decide if keeping control is worth the price.

PLEASE NOTE: Accepted Precedent is not a standalone novel. It is book 3 and intended to be read after Absolute Majority. Also, this story is a deliciously spicy political romance that is intended for mature audiences. If you are looking for a romantic comedy, you will not find it here.

🎧 The first two books won me over with the love story. This one though, I did had a good time with the story as a whole, it confused me as far as the love part of it.

🎧 This trio of narrators nailed it. First time listening to them. Ms. Daniels can go on my list of female narrators that I swoon over their male voice. All three of them were amazing whenever voicing with that hint of Irish accent, I love it when it is subtle. I think the voices fitted the characters perfectly in both how the sound and how they performed it.

❗️ Disclaimer : My rants, ramblings, and incoherent thoughts below might be considered spoilers by some. Also, often, I do not read trigger warnings or blurbs.

🎧 I felt the yearning, which was there for a major part of the book. Enjoyed it. But Andrew confused the hell out of me. I would assume he would have a better communication with Mickey, with the kind of relationship they had at the beginning. In my head though, these kind of relationships in real life would look a bit more confusing, like theirs does instead of the overly uncomplicated polys I usually go for. Which was a plus for the book.

🎧 I loved the inside scoop on the events from book 1 and 2. Loved that part.

“Change doesn’t happen when you passively sit back and watch the world burn.”

This was a wild rollercoaster ride, and I enjoyed every second of it! I've been dying to read Mickey's story, and it was so much better than what I was expecting.

In this book we don't only get to see the wild mess that is Mick, Evie, and Andie's love stories, we also get to see all the behind-the-scenes action of the events of books 1 and 2, and let me tell you I was equal parts shocked and amused by everything that's uncovered.

I know that I previously said that Finn is the greenest red flag ever, and from the previous books one would think that Mick is an even bigger red flag, but this man is just so freaking precious, and sweet, and he needs to be protected at all costs. Irene loves her cameos, and I hope one day we get to see Mickey and everyone involved living their best life openly with no more secrets or judgment.

Quote: “I’ve never felt desperate like this—ever. Even with Andrew. I thought I loved him with my whole heart. But now? A small piece of it belongs to this wicked angel beneath me. I want both of them.”

ARC Review: 4.5⭐️
Accepted Precedent is the third & final book in the Love & Politics series featuring Andrew Adams, Mickey Gallagher & Evelyn Proctor.

Andrew is running for a senate seat and the projections are not looking good for him. One thing that would improve his projections is being married. He has been involved with Mickey in the past but they don’t feel it will help, so mickey suggests he marry his best friend Evelyn.

Before they go through with the plan, they all end up involved and Mickey is enthralled with Evelyn. While Andrew & Evelyn love each other as friends they have never been attracted that way to one another.

They end up getting married and promise to be faithful to one another for the duration of the marriage. However it continues longer than they both expected and both of them feel stuck.

Mickey has kept his distance for years because he wanted Evelyn so bad. When they finally find a way to be involved, can they do so without hurting everything they’ve built?

This book had a bunch of twist and turns but I was so happy in the end that everyone got their HEAs! This entire series kept me hooked throughout all 3 books and I would recommend reading them in order !

Thank you Irene for the ARC !!

Accepted Precedent is the third and final book in the Love & Politics series. So, what happens when you marry your best friend for political reasons-but you are really in love with his boyfriend who also loves you? It is supposed to be for a few years, but ten years later you are still in the same loveless marriage. Can everyone finally get a happily ever after?
Well, sit back, relax and get ready for a wild ride with these fabulous characters.
The narration by Sophie Daniels, TJ Clark and Evan Parker was extraordinary. Sophie Daniels was brilliant as beautiful, fierce Evelyn. TJ Clark was delightful as strong, kind Andrew. Evan Parker was divine as sweet, protective “Daddy” Mickey. I could feel all of their longing, uncertainty, angst, passion and love in their voices. This talented trio of voice actors brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.
Thanks to the author and High Gravity Productions for this ALC.

When your heart is so big everything and everyone comes before yourself. Micky is an unlikely political Robin Hood. Some methods may be questionable but his heart was most definitely in the right place. I felt bad for Evelyn, Micky but mostly Andrew he had the short end of the stick for so long. I was so happy to see his HEA as well as everyone else’s. This wasn’t my favorite of the series and at times it felt like it dragged on a bit however it was truly the perfect ending and tied everything up so nicely. Irene did a beautiful job of tieing all aspects of 3 books together without discrepancy and that takes miticulous attention to detail. Which I appreciate greatly. The blend of romance and politics was so well done I never felt preached at only the love and hope of unity and working together. Each book focused on trust, understanding, and collaboration between all the characters. Want a story that allows love to win this is the series for you.

By now, everyone should know, if Irene writes it, I love it! This whole series is absolutely amazing, but this book was my favorite. With the way things are in the world at the moment it was nice to be able to step into a fictional one where things align with my beliefs and values. The things the characters in these books do and endure to ensure the country is everything it needs to be is absolutely honorable. Mickey, Andrew, and Evelyn literally sacrifice their own happiness and love for their country. I loved Mickey so much. There were so many twists and turns in this one that I literally couldn't stop reading. I'm sad to see this series end, but I am so happy that everyone got their HEA in the end. I highly recommend you read this whole series!

The audiobook version of Accepted Precedent is an emotional gut punch in the best way, and the trio of narrators—Sophie Daniels, Evan Parker, and TJ Clark—pulls every thread of tension between Evelyn, Andrew, and Mickey straight to the surface.

Together, their performances turn this political love triangle into something intense, intimate, and unforgettable. Every stolen moment feels sharper. Every sacrifice feels heavier. And every shift in loyalty hits harder because the narrators fully embody the emotional storm between these three.

If you love complicated relationships, long-buried desire, and narrators who understand how to deliver high-stakes angst, the audiobook of Accepted Precedent is absolutely worth it.

Political romance
Slow burn

Dual narration - Sophie Daniels, Evan Parker & TJ Clark
These narrators did a great job giving life to the characters and their story.

Mickey’s story. And it didn’t disappoint! Getting some insight into the background of the first two books was a nice addition to this book.

Irene writes intriguing romance books. The characters become part of you. You root for their HEA throughout the story. I have enjoyed this series one lovely book at a time.

So this really showcased political views and how a lot of people view politics, especially if you're in the White House area. You do political marriages, political gains
And it's really a crapshoot whether or not it's gonna be a good thing or a bad thing.
And to be honest, this is not my cup of tea. It's well written well-researched, and it's definitely a fictional, with some aspects of truth

OMG!! I needed Mickey’s book!! Irene has done it again with this series!! Definitely read books 1 and 2 so you see different angles for some of the events in this one, but I love that! You get to see who’s pulling the stings and how it all connects to the big picture! Plus can we say HOT?! Irene never lets us down in the spice area and this one definitely has the spice!!

I loved the women in polities backdrop of the story but i HATED how much the FMC had to sacrifice and how long she had to sacrifice for. WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE WOMEN WHO HAVE TO SACRIFICE.

Mickey’s story was the one I was waiting for….you couldn’t help but love him….& he would burn the world down for those he loved
My heart did break for him along the way….he loved Evelyn & Andrew both with all he had to give…he understood to get the outcome they all dreamed of he had to stay in the shadows….it was tough but he was a stronger man for it
I’m going to miss these characters….they were a lot of fun….they all had their own burdens to bear but that’s part of what made this a great series….oh & definitely read it in order….I think it would lose something in translation if you tried to start in the middle….well that & the books overlap in timeline….you would definitely get spoilers if read out of order….& anything you felt was left open from book to book was all tied up in a pretty bow by the end
