I am pleasantly surprised by this short book, it is less than 40 pages and the author did a good job in telling this story.

Jennaise Franklin is senior curator for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she is currently setting up an Egyptian exhibit with pieces sent from the British Museum. One of the pieces in a box gone unnoticed by her is of a beautiful necklace, unbeknownst to her will transport her back in time to Old Empire of Egypt and bring her face to face with Pharaoh Anenkhet. Jennaise easily slips back in time and assumes the role of another woman but as she hurtles back into the present, she is left wondering, who is the woman and what does she have to do with the Pharaoh.

When a book is this short, it is a delicate balance to be able to tell a coherent story from beginning to end and without feeling like the short story is a mess. Not true for author Renee LaRuse, she was able to tell a story that went from the past and hurtled into the present, all without missing a beat or the story. There is no room to call foul because it is well told and Jennaise and Anenkhet will make you want and need to know what is the deal and how is it possible.

You can read this story and enjoy it especially if you are fond of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture. Plus being a museum lover helps a lot and makes you want to take a trip to the MET.

The low rating had me weary but the premise... I had to read it. OMFG THIS WAS SO GOOD!! Legit, my only issue is that it was too short! The descriptions made it so easy to visualize the setting and characters 👍🏾 and I love when writers do that. I would love a longer version of this but at the same time, I feel this worked so well because it was short. The 🔞 scenes were 🥹🙌🏾😙🤌🏾 chefs kiss and tantalizing, they genuinely added to the story. 10/10 would recommend and now I have to find more stories like this!!

I liked the premise but I wished there could have been more. More as in better spicy scenes and more interactions after she met Anan.

This is a short story and normally I go for really long novels. I wish there was more to the story.

It was very well written has two of my fave topics nicely blended together... 'Ancient Worlds' and 'Timeless Love'.

The ending was not what I was expecting.

Was this a novel escape? Yes, a mini one (7.5 out of 10)
Would I check out other books by the author? Maybe (5.5 out of 10)
Would I buy part two in the series? N/A
