James Elliot never meant to barge into his friend’s bedroom, but now that he’s caught an eyeful of Olivia Taylor, butt-naked, he can’t seem to imagine her any other way.
Liv’s world is falling apart. The goals she’s worked so hard to achieve are crumbling. The only thing she can rely on now is the constant stability her friends provide.
But one of those friends is changing the dynamics of their relationship. James is whipping away everything that’s familiar between them and replacing it with a sensuality and a passion Liv can’t ignore.
With so much at stake, Liv has no time to fall in love—even if it’s with her best friend. It’s up to James to guide her through the toughest challenge of her life and show her that the light on the other side of the tunnel just might burn between them forever.
Contains all the red-hot loving you’d expect from a Jess Dee romance, and a sexy, sports-mad, muscle-bound alpha hero with a penchant for tossing his heroine over his shoulder.
(This book is the second in the Sunday Night Dinner Club series. Although each book stands alone, they can be better enjoyed read in order. )
Jess Dee lives in beautiful Sydney, Australia, with her husband, their two sons and their insane dog - a ridiculously overweight puggle named Luigi.
An avid romance reader since her early teens, Jess knew one day, when she grew up, she’d have to write her own love stories. It might have taken a while, but in December of 2005, she finally got “the call.” Her first book, Photo Opportunity had been contracted. Now you can’t hold her down. She’s completed a whole host of books, and is finally doing the work she loves most— writing romance.
What happens when one friend sees another friend naked? Well, in Jess Dee's Table for Two their eight year friendship changes rapidly as James Elliot becomes obsessed with Olivia (Liv) Taylor but in a good way. Since uni (that's university or college for those of you who don't speak Australian) these two have been friends along with several other and every Sunday they meet up for dinner to stay connected. After an unexpected peep show James wants to explore all of Liv and all she can think about is poisoning him so he'll shut his mouth in front of their friends.
It was really easy to fall head over heels for this couple. Their friendship made their leap to more than friends quick, easy to accept, and the worry James has for Liv when he realizes her life as of late has been turned upside down is a game changer in his book. Throughout this book James never wavers in his growing feelings for Liv and when under the influence of pain killers even blurts out he loves her. Liv having some baggage takes a little longer but what I love is James doesn't give up and he refuses to let her push him away.
I loved the out of control way these two went at each other; it was like once they had a taste it just wasn't enough and they couldn't wait for more. Amusing and sexy, Table for Two is another fantastic novella in the Sunday Night Dinner Club series and I'm so looking forward to the next book.
I feel like I am a broken record in all my praise for Jess Dee's writing skills, but I truly feel that she is an exceptionally talented woman in my not so humble opinion. Jess just has this uncanny ability to write books that I find to be absolute perfection. For such a small package, you can always expect her books to be packed full of deep emotion, scintillating sexual tension, and just overall steamy, sexy greatness. Table for Two was no exception to this, and I loved every single moment of it. So with all that said, I guess I should stop singing Jess's praises for awhile and get moving onto the review.
I have to say that hands down Liv and Jimmy are two of the funniest characters Jess has ever written. I loved their witty banter, and found their struggles to come to terms with their new found relationship highly amusing. Oh, and don't even get me started on the intensity of the chemistry they had once they both realized that they were suddenly and overwhelmingly attracted to one another! Liv did put up an admirable fight, but Jimmy was very persistent in his pursuit once his mind was set on forever with Liv. He was absolutely in it to win it, and I was happy to see them both win in the end.
Table for Two was definitely a classic example of everything that I love most about Dee's books. It was a heart-warming tale of friends to lovers with scorching hot heat, but also had a sense of natural sweetness and tenderness to it as well. This is one you definitely don't want to miss out on, but as always I do highly suggest you read any of Dee's books as well. :)
I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Table for Two and boy was it a gift! This book had it all for me. Great characters, an interesting plot, intense heat, and a relatable love story. Olivia and James have known each-other for the better part of a decade. Only recently has James come to see his friend in a different light and vice versa. Eventually the two's chemistry takes them by surprise and gives us readers a hefty does of some seriously burning hot love scenes.
What I loved most about this book was how realistic it was. As you read Ms. Dee's words you are catapulted into the story so deeply you believe your reading about two of your own friends. Speaking of friends, the secondary characters are a joy! They are humorous and remind me of my own group of friends.
Looking forward to reading the third in the Dinner Club Series!
3.5* This author is quite new to me but I like her style.
Love the friends set up, university mates who kept in touch every third Sunday for dinner -thus Sunday Night Dinner Club. It's funny how everyone had something to say about everyone else LOL.
Side note: I was kinda freaked out that Levi had slept with every lady at the table...one night stands, nothing obviously more than that so Levi was a manwhore! But he and Spencer seemed to have found their HEA with a woman in a previous book which I didn't read. Intriguing!
The story opened with the scene that had our hero seeing the heroine in her birthday suit. In those few seconds instinct took over and friends became lovers... or at least a veil seemed to be lifted from their eyes. It was so funny how he couldn't leave her alone during the dinner and she was saying she poisoned him... and the rest were hoping to see him keel over LOL His concern over her rapid weight loss and loss of appetite was touching and showed us what a great caring friend he was all along. We might have started bang in the middle of action but the backstory was filled in quickly and I was pulled right into the story.
Things were good after they succumbed to their mutual attraction , I liked them both and their red hot sexy times... until the heroine went into her independence asserting mode. I get really annoyed by such heroines actually... The knee jerk reaction when someone was showing concern and trying to help. Instead she jumped right to the conclusion Janes was pitying her and she was such a B!TCH argh!
Kudos to James for showing her why it's ok for her to show care, yet when he did the same it was pity... Girl have you forgotten how many customers he's referred to you?! Obviously the interior design business was complementary to his construction and renovation firm!
I hated this conflict, but am glad it did not drag out too long.
I cannot wait to find the rest of the series!

Again a great read from Jess Dee. I really like this series and the different people that form the cast of characters. TABLE FOR TWO is a friends to lovers story containing the two elements I always look for in the romances I read: heat and humor.
There was one thing though that kept bothering me a bit and everytime I read it, it pulled me out of the story: James calling Liv 'pretty one' all the time. As an endearment it just didn't work for me. I either kept reading it as little one or kept thinking of the Lord of the Rings movies and Smeagol and his 'precious) for some strange reason and I don't think that was Jess Dee's intention ;)
This being said I really enjoyed the story. I loved Liv and James as characters and loved getting to know the group of friends that form the Sunday Night Dinner Club a bit better. It made me laugh: Oh man, the scene with the call from James high on morfine...priceless! It made me emotional: the talk at the end where Liv finally accepts things It made me fan myself numerous times at the sexy scenes because Jess Dee knows how to bring the heat! This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites by her and I can't wait for the next book in it.

Ahh the good ole friends to lovers, such a fun troupe to read. James being a mere man was too dumb to notice how sexy Olivia is until he walks in on her completely naked. Once he sees her in all her naked glory its like he's been smacked over the head and can't stop looking at her. Liv needs a bit more convincing, but once James made his mind up he bound and determined to make her his. Watching a woman fight falling is almost as fun as watching a man fight the fall. Liv fought with everything she had, but she was no match for James. He took the time to show her how much he not only wanted her naked and under him (or on top of him) but that he wants her heart and soul too. Jess writes some of the sweetest romances, but still includes smoking hot sex scenes. It's quite a gift she has. I'm really enjoying the Sunday Night Dinner Club series and I can't wait for more.
I loved this friends to lovers story by Jess Dee. The first scene just draws you in and I could not stop chuckling as James and Olivia bantered back and forth. These two had amazing chemistry and the sex scenes were scorching hot. I enjoyed seeing how natural it was for them to move from friends to lovers despite Olivia's reluctance to admit the change in their relationship. I also loved seeing the group of friends interacting which always bring some fun moments. It was a sexy and an emotional story that had me wanting more.
Jess Dee is a great author...the power of the pen or i guess it is the computer now. Jane happens to walk in on his best friend and downstairs neighbor, Olivia naked. Not only does he walk in on her he it seems he can't stop starring at her ...thinking about her. This is the beginning of a wonderful HOT and Steamy book. James and LIV's story is hot as hell and funny at the times too. it is another great book from the Sunday Night Dinner Club.then!
I love Jess Dee's Sunday Night Dinner Club Books. Every time a new one comes out I re-read all the previous books again! LOVE Them!
James and Liv have always been close friends. But that is just it. Just friends and nothing more. One day James accidentally sees his friend completely naked and now he can no longer look at her as just a friend, nor does he want to. Can friends become lovers and still remain friends? Does Liv feel more than just friendship for her friend James? This book is a sexy sequel in the Sunday Night Dinner Club series. It can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading them in order since you will get updates on some characters from the previous book.
In the second book of the Sunday night dinner club series we have two people that have been friends for eight years and one accidental mistake opens their eyes wide and a new relationship begins. It was fun watching these people fall in love in a new way. I'm looking forward to the third book of the series Jess Dee is a fabulous writer
This is a lovely addition to the Sunday Night Dinner Club series and focuses on rugby player James and interior designer Liv as they discover their feelings for each other.
