Tarantino - McCarthy - Kenny Powers - Palahniuk - HAJI OUTLAW If you loved Kenny Powers & Fight Club's Tyler Durden...then you will love Freya Simone!

This superb work of dark fiction, in the vein of Chuck Palahniuk and Cormac McCarthy, finds a female assassin with five kills remaining in order to exit her life of murder.

The unabashed and darkly delicious assassin, Freya Simone, stalks and slays her final five prey with an unprecedented pyroclastic calm of annihilation. At the same time, an eight-year-old boy takes over the criminally insane asylum where he resides and proceeds on a disturbingly violent collision course of inevitability to Freya.

The cooler than freezer burn killer, versus, the evil as time boy. The battle will eternally change the world.

The violence, sex, and humor in this sordid tale of death, create a world that is both grippingly realistic and eerily dreamlike.

Nothing good here

this book was so full of trash talk, and nasty content that even I was disgusted, and that takes a lot. I didn't even get half way through the book, and not only stopped reading but completely deleted it before my kindle caught something bad.

The Kid Dies

I don't know what I was expecting when I chose this book. It is decidedly different from what I would typically read. A very strange read, but I will say I think the author did his tale justice. This is one you will either really like or really not. This is for you to decide for yourself.

I loved this book , in the beginning . Witty banter , funny situations , and crazy characters made the story song .About 2/3 of the way through it just fell apart into a mish mash of hallucinations that fell flat . I felt like the ending was a copout.

What???

Quite possibly one of the worst books I've ever read. I'm surprised I got through all of it. If it hadn't been so short I would've stopped. Absolutely pitiful. If I had a paperback copy I would've thrown it away. Garbage, trash, totally worthless.

When it comes to books, most of the time I just like what I like, and that's that. When the author of The Kid Dies, Haji Outlaw, approached me via email about reviewing his book, I checked it out and thought it was something I could get into. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it, though parts seemed a bit nonsensical. All things considered, it was a very fun read. If you are unfamiliar with the story, it begins by following contract killer Freya Simone through a strip club, with five kills remaining on her "contract" with a man named Marvin.

As she handles several kills at the strip club, additional kills at a wedding, on a plane, and so on, she is finally face to face with her final kill, the one kill remaining between herself and freedom: an eight year old boy named Reese. While his small stature may fool you, Reese is able to control minds, and singlehandedly took over the insane asylum in which he resided fairly easily - and the rest of the story writes itself. With some unexpected twists and turns throughout, this was a very enjoyable first book from a new author.

While there are a few spelling errors throughout, it is nothing that I can't live with, as a reader. I would say that the comparisons between Haji Outlaw and Chuck Palahniuk are spot-on, but not exact. I believe with more practice, that the writing will only get better - it is not Palahniuk grade, yet - but, all things considered, I can't wait to see what Haji Outlaw has up his sleeve next.

Excellent psychological action thriller

This book is hard to classify, but nonetheless a very satisfying read. The protagonist is a female assassin looking to quit the business, and given a final list of targets in order to buy back her contract, so to speak. We then follow her as she goes through the list, in a somewhat Kill Billish fashion, which you'll easily grasp, if you've watched the movies. Each hit is enjoyable in its execution (no pun intended), and the dialogue is well crafted, and believable.

In parallel to all this, we are treated to the story of the final name on the killer's list, a very young sociopath, and the mayhem he is causing. The book, of course, drives toward a climax where assassin and sociopath face off.

I feel that the ending was a bit rushed, and this detracted from my full enjoyment of an otherwise great book with intriguing characters and plotting. It is still a very good read.

First off, I would like to say, If you're offended by profanity or graphic sexual comments, don't buy this book! As for myself, I read a lot and so I am not that picky. This book is very intense and even I would consider it a thrill ride from start to finish. The author does a wonderful job of keeping your attention with his comical humor, as well as its dark nature. This book is hard to classify, but nonetheless very satisfying to read. I look forward to reading more books from Haji Outlaw.
