I enjoyed this one. There was plenty to propel the plot along, who the girls would live with, hunting down an outlaw, romantic tension, etc., plus it was interesting to read about a dairy farm and the work that entails.
This is Christian fiction, faith does feature prominently here which isn’t always a great fit for those of us who are not religious, but I was mostly good with that aspect of this one. There’s a preachy moment here and there, for the most part though, faith just kind of feels like another personality trait for some of these characters, something that informs their decision making.
I don’t always like a villain POV, particularly not when it’s taking up space in shorter fiction, and I could tell immediately where the author was going to go with it, too, yet to my surprise I did buy into it, that arc was well-conveyed, and well-paced.
Epilogues often feel a bit unnecessary to me, this was the rare occasion where I would have welcomed that little bit of follow-up, a parting glimpse going forward in their lives, still, in the end, this tied up the vengeance plot and the romance in an entertaining way.
