The past they buried …became the future they couldn’t resist.
I was supposed to walk away clean.
One dead man. One tempting woman.
And a whole lot of blood on my hands.
I never asked to be her savior. I damn sure wasn’t looking to be a priest. But penance tastes better than prison, and hiding in a collar kept my past where it belonged—six feet under.
That is…until she showed up.
In my church.
On her knees.
Now the woman I saved is playing the saint, whispering scripture while dragging hell back to my doorstep. I recognize her but I can’t prove she’s the devil sent to damn me. But my body can. Every taunt of her wicked words pulls me deeper.
The worst part?
I want her to ruin me.
He was my salvation.
And my destruction.
He killed my husband and vanished, leaving me to take the fall.
For years, I dreamed of finding him. Not to thank him.
To burn him. Break him. Watch him bleed like I have all these years.
Now I have found him again, preaching sermons in some forgotten little church, while hiding behind stained glass and God’s mercy like it could save him. I’ve joined the flock. Become his disciple. Learned every way to tempt a priest into sin.
But I wasn’t ready for this man.
Not his hands.
Not his guilt.
Not the way he says my name like a confession.
I came here to destroy him, to show him the darkness he thought he could outrun…so why am I feeling the burn of the flames meant for him?
What do you get when you have a horror lover with daddy issues? A whorror author! I am all things gore and (w)horror! My list of publications is the Reflections series, the connective Asylum Devils series, Bodies duet, Bloody Valentine from the St. Valentine series, and Mara of the Wellard asylum series. I have a lot of works in progress and can't wait to share them with you all!
Sooo…I had to wait for my heart rate to catch up with my brain or the other way around 🤷🏻♀️
After Beneath his Robes we get Jedidiah’s story, him being a priest, a father to his flock but his secrets will come out one way or another. Sayuri steps into his world though she is no stranger and her secrets are as deep as his…
If I could have read this one sitting I would have because SK has done it again, drawn you into her abyss and left you hanging from its pages. We get to re-meet some of the characters from the first book whilst learning a little of them, though it’s Jed and Sayuri’s beginnings that dance us through their revenge, emotions, relationship to an ending you think will happen but it’s simply doesn’t 🤭 For me I didn’t find this one as heart wrenching as the first but it is not without emotion. Honestly, I love SKs writing cos she just has to bait you with that little twist 🙈
This was SO beautifully written but SO tragic and emotional from beginning to end! I absolutely loved Jedidiah and Sayuri SO much but this story broke my heart into a million pieces…SO many times (if you read Beneath His Robes, which I HIGHLY recommend you do before reading this, then you’ll know what I’m talking about…the way it’s interconnected is CRAZY). I enjoyed reading about both of their stories about their past and Jedidiah’s friendship (trying to avoid a spoiler here 😅). There was so much trauma on both sides and sooo much against them throughout the entire story. If you like the forbidden love trope, this book is for you! I was NOT expecting that ending and honestly I’m still recovering. Have the tissues ready and READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING THIS ONE! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
I thought I was ready for this book, but boy was I wrong. I was really hoping not to have my heart broken, but maybe that was just wishful thinking. This series continues to wreck me, and I love every minute of it. Jed and Sayuri were victims of the cruel world they were forced to live in. I’m so glad they at least got a little bit of happiness before they were lost to each other.
Read the trigger warnings Can I just say that this book fucked me ALL the way up? The emotional rollercoaster this had me on was one in the same with Beneath His Robes. How are you going to make me catch feels for a character and then pull the rug out from under me like that? The lies, secrets, betrayal….the complete obsession with revenge…ugh this was SO good. One minute I’m crying and the next I’m drying humping a pillow seeing Jed do things that he shouldn’t be. I see you Sayuri. I see you. SK’s writing could draw you in from another planet. Deep- emotional-somewhat terrifying-love-sin….so many emotions are experienced and she makes you feel every one of them. Truly a gem. 10/10
This story doesn’t ease you in—it drags you straight into a storm of obsession, guilt, and vengeance, and refuses to let you go. From the opening lines, there’s a dark, magnetic pull that sets the tone: heavy, seductive, and laced with danger. 🔥
At the center are Jedidiah Franklin and Sayuri—two people shaped by violence, secrets, and pasts that refuse to stay buried. Jedidiah, now living behind the sacred disguise of a priest, is anything but holy beneath the surface. His past—marked by bloodshed, loss, and his ties to Black Onyx—clings to him like a shadow he can’t outrun. Every thought, every action feels like a quiet battle between seeking redemption and surrendering to the punishment he believes he deserves. ⛪⚖️
Then there’s Sayuri—fierce, damaged, and driven by a need for retribution. Connected to the dangerous Crimson Carrion and carrying her own scars of abuse and loss, she enters Jedidiah’s life not to heal… but to break him. And yet, beneath her rage is something far more fragile. Watching her struggle between hatred and an undeniable pull toward the very man she wants to destroy adds a layer of emotional depth that hits hard. 💔
Their connection? Explosive. Toxic. Completely consuming. It’s not built on comfort or sweetness—it’s forged in pain, power struggles, and a constant push-and-pull that keeps escalating. Every interaction feels charged, like it could either shatter them or bind them tighter. And somehow… it’s impossible to look away. 😮💨
The dual perspectives elevate everything. Being inside Jedidiah’s conflicted mind—torn between faith, guilt, and desire—contrasts perfectly with Sayuri’s fiery determination and emotional unraveling. As their walls begin to crack, what emerges isn’t healing in a traditional sense, but something far more raw and unsettling.
The religious undertones add an extra layer of tension that makes every moment feel almost forbidden. Themes of sin, confession, and temptation are woven throughout, turning even the quietest scenes into something intense and provocative. 😈
And yes—the story doesn’t hold back when it comes to heat. The pacing dives straight into that physical and emotional tension early on, and it works. Moments of vulnerability, especially when defenses drop, make the intimacy feel even more powerful. And let’s just say… certain bold elements (👀 you know the one) definitely leave an impression.
Beyond the chemistry, there’s a deeper exploration of trauma—how it shapes identity, how it traps you, and how facing it is often more painful than running from it. Neither character is “fixed” easily. Their journey is messy, complicated, and at times uncomfortable—but that’s exactly what makes it so gripping.
This isn’t a story for readers looking for light romance or clean redemption arcs. It leans fully into morally gray territory, where love and destruction intertwine in ways that can feel both thrilling and unsettling. ⚠️
But if you’re drawn to dark romance filled with obsession, taboo tension, and deeply flawed characters who collide in the most chaotic ways… this delivers. Hard.
By the end, it doesn’t just leave an impression—it lingers. Like a confession you can’t forget… or a sin you’re not sure you regret. 🖤
This dark romance delivers exactly what it promises—intensity, obsession, and a dangerously seductive battle between guilt and vengeance.
From the very first page, the story pulls you into a morally complex world where redemption feels just out of reach and every choice comes with consequences. The premise alone is gripping: a man hiding from his violent past behind a priest’s collar, and the woman whose life he shattered returning not for closure, but for revenge. What unfolds is a slow, deliberate unraveling of both characters, layered with tension that simmers and then ignites.
The dual perspectives are one of the novel’s strongest elements. His voice is steeped in guilt and restrained desire, constantly wrestling between seeking absolution and craving punishment. Hers, on the other hand, burns with anger and purpose—yet beneath that rage is a vulnerability that makes her far more than just a woman out for revenge. Watching their emotional walls crack, even as they try to destroy each other, is both compelling and unsettling in the best way.
The religious backdrop adds an extra edge, heightening the taboo and making every interaction feel charged with meaning. Confession, sin, and temptation are woven seamlessly into their relationship, turning even the smallest moments into something provocative and heavy with consequence.
What truly stands out is the emotional tension. This isn’t a love story built on sweetness or easy forgiveness—it’s raw, messy, and often uncomfortable. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable, but it’s laced with pain, mistrust, and a shared darkness that neither can escape.
That said, this book won’t be for everyone. Its themes are heavy, the characters are deeply flawed, and the romance leans into morally gray territory without offering easy redemption. But for readers who enjoy dark, emotionally charged stories where love and destruction go hand in hand, this is a gripping and unforgettable read.
Ultimately, this is a story about the past refusing to stay buried—and the dangerous pull of the very person who might ruin you completely.
Beneath her Sins, book 1.5 in the Sins of Monticello series, is written by SK Pryntz. This dark romance revolves around the transformative journey of two fractured people as they attempt to reconcile their traumatic pasts.
This book centers on Jedidiah Franklin, a man who has retreated into the role of a priest to mask the guilt and trauma of a violent past tied to the notorious gang, Black Onyx. His new life is defined by the strict and rigid rules attached to his role. He is haunted by the memories of his mother’s death and the night he fled an alleyway after killing a gang leader. He hides behind a carefully crafted facade to hide his true identity.
Sayuri, a woman running from the influence of the Crimson Carrion, a Yakuza-linked crime syndicate. Her life is defined by abuse and separation from her son. Sayuri, believing Jedidiah is a fraud, begins a mission to try to destroy him. The relationship between the two acts as a catalyst for their mutual deconstruction and vulnerability. Their healing process is messy and clouded by the persistent threat of their former lives catching up with them.
The story is a poignant reminder that trauma shapes human identity, and it takes courage to break the cycles of abuse. You can not erase your past; you must acknowledge it, and the power to define the future remains in your hands.
Thanks to S.K. Pryntz for gifting me an eARC of Beneath Her Sins. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This one was slightly disappointing for me - especially after the emotional roller coaster that was Beneath His Robes. That one had me ugly sobbing on the floor and this one I was waiting for something to happen and then it was over. Admittedly I think it's because my ONE most hated trope was thrown in kinda early in the book and I lost a lot of interest after that. I think another downfall for me at least was that I compared this one a lot to BHR and while interconnected, they are VERY different books with very different stories. SK is known for her endings though so I knew I had to get to the end just to see! I definitely wasn't disappointed with the end either, it still had my jaw dropping!
Jedidiah "Jed" has been running for the last decade after saving a woman in an alley and making a terrible mistake. He made it to the town of Monticello and threw himself into the priesthood, although we see he doesn't really think he is one, just pretending.
Sayuri has been on the run for two years and has just made it to Monticello, coming across Jed's photo in the paper. We find out she is the woman he saved all those years ago and she makes it her mission to make him pay for what happened.
The beginning scene immediately had me hooked, there were a few other scenes throughout that had me going "DAMN" but I never really felt a connection between the two. I really just felt like Sayuri kept making dumb decisions, doing what she thought was best but she never told Jed the entire truth about what was going on. I feel like had she told him everything they could have worked together.
Absolutely loved how this one started out very similar to BHR and that we get to see those same characters in this book too. My heart still broke for Ronan and I definitely reread BHR it hits SO much different after reading this one.
It wasn't until the last 15-20% where I started to get interested again, when the climax hits and we see the consequences of everything I was like "Yep there we go, there's the SK ending I was expecting" but still not anywhere near as devastating as BHR.
Beneath Her Sins is not a light read—it’s dark, intense, and emotionally consuming in a way that lingers long after the final page.
From the very beginning, the story pulls you into a world filled with guilt, revenge, and forbidden desire. The premise alone—a priest haunted by his past and a woman seeking justice—creates a tension that feels both dangerous and addictive. The chemistry between the characters is raw and complicated, blurring the lines between right and wrong in a way that keeps you hooked.
What stood out most to me was how morally gray the characters are. No one is purely good or evil, and that complexity makes their choices feel real, even when they’re unsettling. The emotional weight of the story is heavy, and at times it feels almost suffocating—but in the best way. It’s the kind of book that makes you uncomfortable, yet you can’t look away.
S.K. Pryntz does an incredible job of building an atmosphere that is dark, almost haunting. There’s a constant sense of tension—like everything could unravel at any moment. And honestly, this book hurts. It’s emotional, tragic, and beautifully written in a way that will absolutely wreck you if you let it.
That said, this is definitely not for everyone. The themes are heavy, and there are strong triggers that readers should be aware of before diving in. But if you enjoy dark romance with depth, emotional turmoil, and taboo elements, this book delivers.

“A soul can recognize another from any time when they are connected as one. We have met many times, our soul always finds one another.”
Why do I do this to myself 😭😭 the emotional impact the author has through her writing is just phenomenal. Once again my emotions took this insane roller coaster ride. Gripping me in a vice the entire time and filling me with hope only to rip my heart out. She takes a piece of my heart with each book I read of hers. 😭
The entire story reels you in from the beginning. Taking you back in time. Trying to keep the past buried, seeking revenge. Their story is messy, complicated, and forbidden. There's a constant push and pull, so much tension, so many secrets. This is dark and twisted but in the best way.
Two tormented people trying to save each other. Sacrificing everything to try to protect each other and the ones they love. 😩🥺 I love how this connected with the first one!!! Not only getting to see familiar faces but having things intertwine the way they did. The ending was mind-blowing 🤯 Brilliant. I didn't see THAT happening. Definitely recommend reading beneath his robes first! As always check your triggers! I can't wait to read whatever is next.

Okay, who's cutting onion? 😭 I don't know what SK puts in her books but she always seems to turn me into a sobbing mess or at least bring tears to my eyes.
Beneath Her Sins is the story of Jedidiah and Sayuri.
Jed has been running from his past for ten years and thought he found his calling as a priest until Sayuri came crashing into his life to shake things up. It isn't a coincidence she ended up in Monticello though, she has an agenda of her own, she is determined to ruin the life of the man who ruined hers ten years ago. But what happens when feelings and desire start to interfere with her plan? Or worse, when the past catches up to them?
“A soul can recognize another from any time when they are connected as one. We have met many times, our soul always finds one another.”
I had some trouble getting into the book but that was mainly because I'm a moodreader to a fault and I wasn't ready for another heartbreak. The fact that SK managed to suck me in anyways says a lot about her qualities as a writer. This book is filled with tension but also devastation, female rage, lies and secrets, it had me on the edge of my seat and even though Jedidiah tried so hard to hold on to his vows there are still some very spicy moments. *whispers; vibrating panties 👀
Get yourself a cold drink and a box of tissues and dive in!
This was a strong 4-star read for me. The pacing is definitely slower in parts, and there were moments where the dialogue felt repetitive, along with the repeated use of certain terminology that pulled me out of the story at times. However, the strength of the characters and the depth of the world more than made up for it.
This story is steeped in religious trauma, false prophecy, and a sense of something deeply sacrilegious unfolding beneath the surface, and it works. It feels intentional, immersive, and, at times, unsettling in all the right ways.
Once the story finds its stride, it truly shines. The narrative becomes gripping, detailed, and emotionally engaging, pulling you deeper into the tension between fate, belief, and survival.
The callbacks and Easter eggs to Beneath His Robes were well placed and added an extra layer of depth for readers familiar with that story. Getting to know Elias’s mentor also helped contextualize his character and made his motivations in the previous book feel more grounded and believable.
The MMC is deeply tormented by his past, and that internal struggle adds weight to his determination to fight for both his future and Sayuri’s.
Overall, while it takes time to fully settle into its rhythm, this is a dark, layered story that rewards patience.
SK always knows how to rip your heart out… and sometimes put it back together. Either way, she will have you in your feelings. Beneath Her Sins is definitely going on that list.
Jedediah chose a life of priesthood as a way to atone for his past, but the weight of what he’s done never really leaves him. He’s been carrying the guilt of a crime that changed everything—something that forced him to run and become someone new. What he never saw coming? The woman he thought he left behind… the woman he believed was going to die.
Sayuri is an absolute badass. She spent years wanting to find the man who saved her from her abusive husband, never expecting that man to be standing at the front of a church, preaching. And Jedediah definitely wasn’t expecting her to walk into his confessional and turn his entire world upside down.
These two? So much angst, so much passion, and I loved every second of it. Their story is messy, emotional, and intense in the best way.
SK’s writing just hits. The emotion, the tension, the backstory—it all pulls you in. I loved finally understanding why Jedediah became a priest, and getting those little glimpses of familiar characters from Beneath His Robes made it even better.
**A Big thank you to SK Pryntz and team for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝓜𝔂 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀 Beneath Her Sins by SK Pryntz
Sin, obsession, and vengeance wrapped in something dangerously addictive…
This book didn’t just pull me in,it consumed me.
From the very first page, I was hooked on the tension between Jedidiah and Sayuri. Their dynamic? Toxic, magnetic, and absolutely impossible to look away from. The push and pull between guilt, revenge, and undeniable desire had me flipping pages like my life depended on it.
Jedidiah, the man hiding behind a collar, drowning in his past, had me in a chokehold. And Sayuri? She’s not just a woman scorned… she’s a force of destruction, walking into his life with fire in her veins and revenge on her mind. Watching her unravel him piece by piece while fighting her own emotions? Addictive.
The angst. The darkness. The emotional damage. Yeah… this one hurts so good.
SK Pryntz delivered a story that hits deep—layered characters, intense chemistry, and a storyline that keeps tightening its grip the deeper you go. Every interaction felt charged, every moment dripping with tension.
And that ending? I’m still thinking about it.
If you love dark romance that blurs the line between sin and salvation… this is your next obsession.
The setup alone tells you what you’re getting: a man hiding behind a priest’s collar to bury his past, and a woman who has spent years hunting him down.....not for closure, but for destruction.
The MMC is very much built around guilt. Everything about him feels restrained. His identity, his choices, even how he interacts with the FMC. He’s not outwardly chaotic or dominant in the typical dark romance way; he’s controlled, almost suffocatingly so. You can tell he’s trying to outrun who he was, and failing.
The FMC, on the other hand, is fueled by revenge. She’s calculated, patient, and very intentional in how she inserts herself back into his life, calculated doesnt even begin to describe her. What makes her interesting is that even with all that anger, there’s still something unresolved underneath it.
The story doesn’t try to make them likable in a traditional way. It’s heavy on emotion, and the slow unraveling between them. If you’re looking for fast pacing or a lot of external action, it might feel a little contained.
It’s dark, tense, and very character-driven....with a strong revenge thread.
If you like:

"Sometimes I think that living is the true form of hell, so should we not embrace every piece of heaven we're given before it's too late?"
There will never be enough I can say about this book. Beneath Her Sins is one of those books where you need tissues for and maybe a little ice cream to go with it to feel better. I still haven't stopped crying over it and I cried myself to sleep the night I finished this. BHS is the prequel to Beneath His Robes and you will see the overlap (spoiler says exactly what overlap there is). Starting the story ten years prior to the events gives enough information to understand why Sayuri is going after Jedidiah, but neither of them realized they would fall so hard for each other. When revenge and vengeance clash with love, they really saw the lines blur. Throw is the reasons Sayuri is doing what she is doing and who she is protecting? Yeah this story was bound to absolutely destroy me. Beneath Her Sins is so torturously and hauntingly beautiful that it does not leave anything to the imagination, but instead leaves every emotion known to humankind and a feeling of "what did I just read" in the best way.
This story follow Sayuri, who has been running from her violent past after being sold into a forced marriage with a Yakuza affiliated gang leader. After escaping her captors she stumbles upon Jedidiah, a beloved priest, but also a man from her past. Sayuri is consumed by vengeance and obsession and infiltrates the church under the guise of an acolyte. She is determined to seduce, expose and destroy Jedidiah. SK Prynz is a master in writing complex and morally gray characters. This book is no exception to the rule. Both Jedidiah and Sayuri are flawed and compelling characters. Sayuri's internal conflict between desire for control and the fragile humanity she tries to bury is gripping and tragic. I like her cultural background and experiences as a victim of racial and gendered violence. Jedidiah is a former gang member turned priest. He feels a lot of guild and struggles with is faith and identity. This book is not a love story, it is a tragedy about obsession, trauma and violence. There is exploration of power dynamics. The seduction of Jedidiah is not just about physical attraction, it is about reclaiming the power that was stolen from Sayuri. The book doesn't have a predictable plot. If you are a lover of dark unpredictable books, this is your next read.
After reading Beneath His Robes I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. While this story is also tragic it is very different and to me didn't hurt as much.
Jedidiah ran from his mistakes though they were not all a mistake depending on who you ask. In running he found himself as a priest speaking about a god he didn't believe in. When Sayuri walks into his church everything is about to change.
I really felt for Sayuri and everything she has endured. She was willing to sacrifice everything for something that mattered more than even her own life. Her life has definitely not been easy and her freedom is never as free as you think.
This story is filled will lies, betrayal, obsession, and people willing to lose it all for someone else.
There were definitely a few times I was ready for some of these people to meet their ending. The fact that the deceit was never fully revealed until we knew how every character survived or didn't.
I didn't connect as much with the two main characters as I did in the previous book so I think this is why this one didn't hit as hard for me. I did still really enjoy it.
A past that will bring them together but will also tear them apart.
What can I say but this book was captivating from the beginning, the whole story from the very first chapter to the end, a tragic story of two souls trying to survive with what life had dealt them.
Jedidiah, a priest atoning for a sin from his past, Sayuri a woman out for revenge for the cruel life she suffered because of his sin.
But when Sayuri becomes his acolyte, she realises he had suffered just as much as her, the demons from his past still haunt him. She tortured herself thinking he had got with life while she suffered but his was tortured not knowing what happened to her.
They both carry demons from their past but through each other they can heal but sometimes what you want most in life it’s harder to fight for. Their past will never let them go, the monsters will tear them apart, there’s no escaping it.
This was a compelling read, @sk_pryntzauthor has written a profoundly moving story that will have your heart breaking for Jedidiah and Sayuri. There are harrowing scenes that will leave you emotionally bruised and the last few chapters 🥺 I think it has become my top read this month.

OMG Besties… I went into "Beneath Her Sins" thinking I was prepared because Book 1 already wrecked me… yeah, no. I was absolutely unprepared for this level of emotional devastation.😭
Sayuri and Jedidiah? PURE CHAOS. This isn’t just dark romance... it’s tragedy wrapped in obsession, dipped in guilt, and set on fire. The push and pull between them had me in a chokehold. You’ve got vengeance, twisted redemption, and a man hiding behind a collar while absolutely spiraling inside. And Sayuri? Baby, she came for blood… but the way her pain bleeds through every page? I felt that.
The trauma, the healing… and then the fresh wave of trauma? I was not okay. Not even a little. Jedidiah’s inner torment paired with Sayuri’s fury created this haunting, addictive tension that had me flipping pages like my life depended on it.😬
It’s beautiful. It’s brutal. It HURTS.
And yet… I’d read it all over again.💯
If you love dark, messy, emotionally destructive love stories that leave you staring at a wall after? Add this to your TBR immediately.

🥀 My ratings and review are my own. For my rating scale breakdown, head over to my Goodreads &/or Amazon profile! 🖤
As always check those trigger warnings! This is dark romance with heavy taboo vibes. Also, recommend reading Beneath his robes before this.
If there's one thing I love about SK, it's the ability hook me into any story and make me read the whole thing to find out what happens! This book was no exception. SK really takes the word Dark and turns it into a theirs!
This story follows Jedidiah, a priest and Sayuri, a woman seeking revenge. The tension between Sayuri and Jedidiah is so thick. Sayuri was everything and the push and pull and power dynamics in this had me on edge the entire book.
If you loved Beneath his robes then you will love this too. Jed and sayuri's relationship was tough though I didn’t find it as heartbreaking as the previous book. The ending though!
I definitely recommend this to any dark romance reader and especially if you’ve read any SK books and liked them. 5/5
This was such a beautifully written story, but also incredibly heavy and emotional. There were multiple moments where my mother heart genuinely hurt
The tension between the characters was insane. That constant push and pull, the underlying darkness, the mix of guilt, revenge, and desire… it kept me on edge the entire time. You can feel from the start that their connection is anything but simple, and it only gets more intense as the story unfolds.
What I loved most is how deeply emotional this story is. Both characters carry so much trauma, and it’s woven into everything. Their choices, their connection, and the way they keep circling back to each other despite everything standing in their way.
There’s this strong contrast between sin and redemption throughout the story, which adds such a powerful layer to it. Nothing feels black and white, and that made it even more gripping.
Overall, this was a beautiful, tragic, and intense read that completely drew me in.

He’s trying to be order in a life that keeps pulling him back into chaos—she is the chaos that refuses to be tamed. Jedidiah is trying to move on from his troubled past, moving forward, becoming a Priest, trying to do good and be good. But our pasts are a part of us and that is something that no matter how hard we try to run, we can never escape. Sayuri has given up on trying to move forward. She too had a troubled past. One that she had no choice in, one that was forced upon her. But instead of trying to better her life she has decided that anger and revenge are her future. When these two join there is no Heaven or Hell there is only the two of them and nothing will get in their way!
Every once in a while I will want to read a book that completely guts my soul and wrecks emotionally. I got the opportunity to ARC Beneath Her Sins and SK did just exactly that.
I was hooked from the very beginning, put in a chokehold, and drug straight to hell on the emotional rollercoaster that was the story of Jedidiah + Sayuri. Revenge. Guilt. Brokenness. Trauma. Tragedy. But also undeniable chemistry, angst, tension and banter between. Love. Emotions. Sacrifice.
BHS will have you experiencing so many emotions, but by the end it will just be guttural sobs and I absolutely 101837759697% recommend it. Make sure to check your trigger warnings first as this is not for the faint of heart. I would also suggest reading Beneath His Robes first as you get to meet Jedidiah in that book. Also, check your TWs there too as that book will also gut you to your soul, but you'll love it.
When a book completely destroys you, hooks its claws in you and doesn’t let go. That is what this book is. It’s dark, it completely emotional wrecks you, and it’s very intense.
Jedidiah is hiding from his violent past wrapped up in robes and a priests collar. Sayuri is the woman who is out for revenge after he destroyed her life.
The tension is this book, it was at an all time high between these two. They shouldn’t want each other. They shouldn’t be attracted to one another. But the pull between them is strong.
Confession, sins, and lots of temptation are a huge part of the story. Every moment they are together the lines get even more blurry. Both of these characters are flawed and full of darkness.
The entire time we watch as Sayuri struggles between getting her revenge and trying to deny the pull she has with Jedidiah.
This book is dark, it’s raw, it’s emotional, and broken. Please check all warnings before starting.
If there's one thing I love about SK's writing it's the ability to draw me in from the first page, hook lune and sinker. Maybe I should go to confession 😳🤣.
Beneath her sins didn't disappoint and each page I was wanting to turn faster than I could read. It's dark, the tension between Sayuri and Jedidiah is thick, and lines are very much crossed. A man of the robe living his own hell on earth filled with desire and secrets, a woman hell bent on revenge for 10 years of torture and punishment, it's the perfect recipe for those who love it dark.
If you loved Beneath his robes then you are in for a treat. Giving away spoilers would be a sin so I will tuck them away.
The page long list of triggers is not there for looks, make sure you check them before you are sucked into SK Pryntz latest masterpiece.
Beneath Her Sins pulled me in from the very first sentence and didn’t let go. There’s something about that immediate hook that sets the tone for everything that follows—dark, seductive, and just a little dangerous.
And honestly? We’re only three chapters in before things start getting hot and heavy, which I absolutely loved. The pacing wastes no time diving into that tension, and it works so well with the kind of story this is trying to tell. One standout moment for me was the scene where she’s with him in his unguarded state—it added a layer of vulnerability and complexity that made everything feel even more intense.
Also… two words: vibrating panties. Enough said.
S.K. Pryntz really leans into the darker side of romance here, and it pays off. A priest with a haunted past and the widow of the man he killed? That setup alone is dripping with conflict. Watching her wrestle between wanting revenge and feeling that undeniable pull toward him is messy in the best possible way. It’s twisted, it’s forbidden, and it completely works.
The tension between them is unreal. The power dynamics, the push and pull, the constant emotional and physical tug-of-war—it builds so naturally and keeps you locked in. The writing has this raw, moody edge that amplifies everything, especially the secrets and inner turmoil both characters are carrying.
If you’re into dark romance with heavy taboo vibes, obsession, and characters who are broken in all the most compelling ways, this book will absolutely hit. It’s intense, steamy, and leaves you wanting more from the Sins of Monticello series.
Definitely recommend if you’re in the mood for something a little sinful.
Alrighty then. Now that I don't have tears streaming down my face and can see enough to write this review. Wow just Wow! Check TW before reading. This story will rip your heart out and stomp it to smithereens with a heavy boot. We get Jedidiah and Sayuri's tragically beautiful story. And we also get to re-meet some of the characters from Beneath His Robes. This story is full of revenge, very emotional (so have your tissues handy), tragic, secrets, lies, betrayal, violence. But also a budding relationship where they are always being ripped apart from each other. S.K. Pryntz you have such a brilliant way with words. This is truly a beautifully written story. That sucked me in and didn't let go. I highly recommend this book. If you love the darkness and horror, little darklings you will want to read this book. 🤗🖤
I'm a glutton for anything sacreligious. 10/10 depravity within these pages. If that doesn't hook you in and make you want to swan dive into this, I don't know what will.
This is a Shakespearean epic full of heart crushing, soul shredding, glass shattering screaming.
Two MCs fighting and hiding for their lives, trying desperately to find one ounce of hope or peace while being plagued by pasta they did not ask for. My heart imploded from the crushing weight of these characters. The backstories, the motivating events, the tension, the passion, ALL OF IT.
I'm trying so damn hard to write this review without spoilers because I want ALL your minds blown in the same way mine was. The ending here hit me out of nowhere like a semi truck and I'm still recovering...
