Princess Evangeline has an insatiate lust for power. As her kingdom’s most feared warrior and heiress to the throne, she plans to one day rule in her father’s place, just as she rules over countless men during secret nights of sin. But when the castle falls to a new enemy, Evangeline becomes a slave in her own kingdom, forced to obey the heartless queen’s commands to honor her father’s dying to protect her people. The princess craves vengeance, but can she resist the carnal magnetism between her and Prince Rune, the queen’s son and royal pawn? And as rebellion brews, can she trust Rune, the man with the power to quench her torrid flames, to be her greatest ally?
Some Call Me Eve was a quick and entertaining fantasy read. However, I do wish some parts were delved into a bit more. Aside from that I found this an enjoyable read and I’ve finished it in one sitting, which also says a lot!
the vibes ™: - grief - enemies to lovers - marriage of convenience - rebellion
Great read!! So grateful to get an ARC of Some Call Me Eve! T Pike’s debut novel takes the reader on a medieval journey of love, power, and family.
I was immediately sucked in to Some Call Me Eve by the power and confidence of Evangeline; she’s a badass who loves the people of her kingdom and serving them, and I fell in love with her. “I could not deny how much I cared for my people. I may not have been the type of princess who hosted lavish gatherings or gave grand public speeches, but I loved the citizens of Vitalia personally.” Through losses and victories she maintains her loyalty to her people, but struggles with how to best serve them.
Evangeline is a strong woman who values her unapologetic independence and power. “There were many who disapproved of the woman I had become. Many looked down upon my refusal to hold my tongue, to follow their rules, to be the submissive princess they wanted.” She understands her purpose in her kingdom and the authority she possesses. That is until she meets Queen Ingrid and her son, Prince Rune, who is obscenely coy, and change everything for her. Evangeline is forced into a life of obedience and yet finds a way to discover her own power as well as an unlikely love. “Sometimes, love is a sacrifice we make for something greater than ourselves. Something more freeing.” As much as Evangeline tries to resist it, she cannot deny the growing respect and affection she gains for Rune. His own life of submissive obedience to a mother who only sees him as a path to power, he quietly (and distantly) falls in love with a woman willing to sacrifice everything for her people and her family, and fight to the very end.
Some Call Me Eve is a perfect balance of action and romance developing both the story and characters. The storyline flows well between the two, and was strengthened by the chapters’/characters’ alternating view points. Some Call Me Eve gave me all the feels: love, adoration, frustration, anger, and sadness. Whether you enjoy historical fiction or romance or both, this book is for you!
T Pike really nailed it with this one. I can’t wait to read her next book!
thank you so much to t. pike for the e-arc and the opportunity to read your debut novel!!
"she was the reason i finally fought back. she made me realize that my life might finally be worth living if i could live with her."
i realized this book comes out very soon and i still hadn’t read my e-arc copy so i sat and binged it in a couple of hours and i have to say the pacing made it feel like i read this in an hour. this was i think my first medieval romance and i enjoyed it a lot more then i thought i was going to. the fmc (eve) in this book is very strong minded and independent. the mmc (prince rune) definitely came across as more reserved whether that was by control of his mother or not. the actual plot of this book was good although i do wish parts were somewhat more developed. the romance aspect i thought was done very well however. the tension between them was just undeniable. the main tension of course comes from the forbidden love trope within this book, which had you more on the edge of your seat any time sparks flew between them. i was so happy with the development of their relationship throughout this book, so was quite sad with how their journey came to be towards the end, although i massively respect the author for taking that path, as i feel like a lot of others would shy away from that choice. overall this was a fun read with lots of different emotions and i definitely would recommend!!
This book follows an emotional journey of two main characters that have been through a great deal of suffering. An unapologetic fierce heroine and a voiceless broken prince. Both wronged by the strong villain of the story. This medieval world is easy to follow with a steady pacing, balanced with action and character development. And, let’s not forget the spice in this romance… Eve really is an alpha woman.
This story made me feel angry at the events happening to both main characters, happy at how their relationship developed and sad at how everything turned out. The author did a great job crafting this world with a plot that keeps you entertained, a complex romance, and a tragic, yet moving finale.
Thank you T.Pike for the opportunity to read your debut, it was an honor!
T. Pike delivers a ravishing and ferocious tale in Some Call Me Eve, a dark fantasy romance that burns with tension, desire, and betrayal. At the heart of this story is Princess Evangeline, fierce, ambitious, and gloriously unapologetic. She is a warrior, a seductress, and the rightful heir to a kingdom now crumbling beneath an enemy’s rule.
Once feared for her sword and her ruthless pursuit of power, Eve is brought to her knees when the castle falls and she is enslaved by the cruel queen who conquered her lands. Her father’s final wish, to protect the very people she once ruled, chains her in place even as her blood screams for vengeance. Pike does not shy away from Eve’s complexity. She is allowed to be powerful and flawed, sensual and strategic, all at once.
Then enters Prince Rune, gilded in royal expectation yet marked by a dangerous softness where Eve is concerned. Their chemistry simmers from the start, layered with suspicion and barely controlled hunger. Rune is no simple love interest. He is a man torn between duty and desire, complicity and rebellion. Their shared scenes are electric, a battlefield of wills and want.
Pike weaves in political intrigue, moral tension, and deliciously forbidden moments with masterful pacing and lyrical prose. The world is richly imagined, the stakes are brutal, and Eve is a heroine who refuses to be tamed.
This is not a tale of a damsel saved by love. It is the story of a woman who claws her way back to power with blood on her hands and fire in her eyes. Some Call Me Eve is feral, feminist, and unforgettable.
don’t be fooled by how long this took me to read i’ve just been in a reading slump. it’s really a fast paced captivating read with amazing character growth and seriously tugs at the heartstrings
the FMC is a true leader; a princess she stands on the frontline in battle alongside her guards and she’s also generally dominant. the MMC is timid and cast aside by his mother unless to be used as a pawn in her schemes. the two come together by force not fate but grow their relationship into something forbidden and oh so beautiful. such a fun read categorized as a medieval romance! the characters and story *chefs kiss*
be ready to feel literally every single emotion
Evangeline is that girl thank youuuuu dominant woman and pathetic man 🙂↕️🙂↕️ there’s not much else to say except READ THIS BOOK!
In Some Call Me Eve, T Pike masterfully weaves a tale of forbidden love, passion, and personal growth, with a stoic female-warrior heroine at its heart. This romance novel is both enchanting and intense, capturing the complexities of falling in love with someone society (and power-struggling royalty) deems forbidden, all while exploring themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and self-discovery.
The Heroine: Warrior Strength and Confidence Juxtaposed with Gentle Leadership and Undeniable Beauty The protagonist, Evangeline, is a force to be reckoned with. She's beautiful, bold, independent, and unapologetically fierce, qualities that make her both relatable and admirable. Her inner strength is showcased as she navigates the treacherous waters of forbidden love, making her more than just a typical romantic lead. Evangeline doesn’t let the expectations of opposing forces define her; instead, she rises up against them and chooses to follow her heart, even when it means challenging her adversaries and the world around her.
Prince Rune: Timid to Courageous, Loves Across Boundaries Rune initially is timid, shy, and controlled by his controlling queen mother. But, eventually he becomes everything you'd expect from a prince — charming, noble, and caught in a web of duty to his family. However, what sets him apart is his deep connection to Evangeline, a relationship that is as impossible as it is irresistible. The tension between their love and the restrictions of their respective families provides a compelling emotional backdrop for the story. Their forbidden love pulls readers in, with each stolen moment heightening the stakes and deepening their connection.
The Romance: Spicy Yet Intimate One of the standout elements of Some Call Me Eve is the chemistry between the lead characters. Their romance is filled with moments of undeniable tension and passion, culminating in love scenes that are both spicy and intimate. T Pike excels in creating an atmosphere of vulnerability and desire, allowing readers to witness the slow burn of attraction and the intense connection between the characters. These love scenes are not only steamy but emotionally charged, making each encounter feel earned and meaningful. They serve as an extension of the passionate and personal journey the characters undertake, rather than just titillating moments.
The Forbidden Love: A Tension-Filled Journey The novel’s tension comes from the forbidden nature of the relationship — a theme that is explored deeply and with nuance. As both characters struggle with the consequences of their love, the stakes become incredibly high. The push and pull between their desires and the forces trying to keep them apart keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The journey of their love story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, making for an emotionally charged narrative that doesn’t shy away from difficult decisions and jaw-dropping twists.
Conclusion: A Captivating Read Forbidden love, an irrefutably strong-willed heroine, and intimate romance — Some Call Me Eve offers it all. This novel will appeal to readers who crave a passionate love story wrapped in intrigue and emotional depth. Whether you're drawn to strong heroines, royal intrigue, or sizzling romance, this book is a must-read for fans of the genre. The steamy love scenes only add to the story’s emotional depth, making it a memorable, heart-pounding experience.
This is the story of Princess Evangeline, heir to the throne. Forced to obey the wishes of the evil queen but fueled by her promise to her father and his dying wish for her to protect the people, the princess seeks vengeance against the queen.
The author brings the characters to life on the pages of the book through rich and strong character development and creating deep relationships, especially that between Evangeline and Prince Rune (queue the spice). Filled with romance, passion, sense of duty, loyalty, sacrifice, suffering, forbidden love, and heartache, this book will pull on your heartstrings.
While fantasy is not a genre I am generally drawn to, this book was a great way to ease myself into it. With the strong female protagonist and forbidden love, this book makes for an emotional and memorable read.
Thank you so much to the author for the copy of this book and an introduction to the world of fantasy.
got this a few days ago. wasn’t sure about the genre but the preview sounded interesting so i bought it. i was right. the author started out right away with a storyline that was my style. every chapter ended with a hook to keep me reading. every good book needs a hero (heroine) and a villiain and this absolutely did. great job T Pike. please keep writing, you’re talent shows.
This was an amazing read! A great story with detailed characters and an incredibly intriguing plot! I couldn’t put it down… love the spice and build-up of romance splashed against a background of war and political schemes. Will be rereading soon!
