It took forever to read the one. It's been a long time since I read this series, and I was kind of lost a little bit. But I got my shit together and figured out what was going on. It was a good read and I really like this one.

really don't know what to say about this one...
the same stuff as I said about the previous book Tyler's undoing...the heroine Gabriella that I thought would be in that book was actually with the fighter Paxton (who sure makes a lot of promises in his story - Paxton's Promise hahah)in this book and the heroine Kacey that was in Tyler's undoing has had a past relationship with Paxton...hell, i'm sure they could all sit down together and compare notes...enough said! what a mess!
I'm totally lost as I write this...LOL
anyway, this installment is also filled with so much action that will make your head spin...what i did notice as a lack of info...well, you know how in every hot steamed and sexed up story you have characters that DO it in the heat of the moment and they recall the elephant in the room
well, here we don't have any of that......I guess we are to assume, as they are both fighters and they are frequently tested but why not say it then...

Brilliant action packed read,loved it.
This series just gets better, I loved hot Alpha male Pax didnt think any of the fighters could top Ryley but he did and Gabby she can kick ass just the heroin you want to see.
Theres so much packed into this its hot,filled with drama,action, suspense, lust,love,revenge, danger, a page turner so evidently brilliantly written.
The next book is a must for me and anticipate its release im sure Camerons story will be just as thrilling as Paxtons.

I loved Gabby´s book. Until now she has been present in all the books, I was looking forward for this fighter get her HEA.
Strong, stubborn, very good friend, loyal, sassy mouth, a great mediator ( thanks to her Riley and Ashleigh met in the first book, and thanks to her they come back together again).
Her relationship with Bradley was what I liked least about her. Bradley and Colin have had very bad luck with the 2 friends, the poor guys end up in NY licking their wounds. When she breaks up with Bradley to sleep with Tyler (only 2 times to then break up by mutual agreement), then go back to him to keep Paxton away from her... Thank God this time Bradley says enough.
“Bradley, what’s going on?” In my heart, I already knew. I could feel it inside, with the way he looked at me when he walked through the door. “I’m done, Gabby,” he blurted out. “I’ve tried to do the whole friends with benefits thing, but it’s not working.”My heart ached for him, for the friendship I was losing. Bradley had been a part of my life for years. We were friends long before we became lovers, and there was something different between us than with any other guy I’d known. He’d always been there to pick me up when I was down.
In “ Riley´s revenge”, Ash and Gabby ask Paxton to help them to get to the Dark Side, a place where illegal fights are held without rules and with weapons, where the twins of terror Camden and Riley were going to fight each other. Paxton takes a big risk but in the end everything works out. But Paxton, in exchange for his help tells Gabby that she owes him one and now the time has comes to pay the debt.
“It is now, considering for the next month you’re going to be with me and me only.””You don’t expect me to fuck you though, right? That shit’s not going to happen.”“Oh, Gabby, as much as I’d love to have you spread out for my delight, I would never ask that of you. But if you wanted it, I’d be happy to oblige.”“Sorry to disappoint, but that’s not going to happen either,” I said, glaring at him. “It wasn’t a wish,” he clarified. “It was a promise—and you know how I feel about those.”
Gabby is moving into Paxton’s house for a month. Her brother and coach Matt is going on vacation for 6 weeks, so Pax becomes her new coach for the fight that she has in 2 months for the title. The attraction between these 2 is off the charts and soon they are unable to not tear each other´s clothes at every moment.
“Never, under any circumstances, let another man immobilize your arms like this.” “I fight women, Pax. I don’t think I’ll ever be in the ring fighting a man.” “That’s not what I’m talking about. For right now, the only person who’s going to be holding you down like this is me. Nevertheless, sometimes it doesn’t always work like that.”He laid there, star-fished on top of me. I could feel his heartbeat thumping and see the sweat above his brow. I instinctively clenched my lower stomach and his dick lengthened between us. I waited for him to move his lips toward mine, but he stayed in place, staring me down. Ever so slowly, he moved his lips closer to mine and I parted my own slightly, closing my eyes. “Well,” he said, startling my eyes back open, “I think that’s enough for today.” Hopping off me, he put out his hand to help me get up. What a whirlwind. I’d thought for sure he was going to kiss me. I was going to need to change my underwear.
But a stalker has chosen Gabby as his new victim, he has started leaving black roses with disturbing notes in her apartment. That mysterious man is one of the fighters of the Dark Side. Scar, the leader, explains to Gabby that she has to fight 3 fights and that this way she will get rid of Rage, her stalker. That’s the deal, and if she doesn’t accept they will go after Paxton.
“Pax,” I whispered softly. He brushed the hair off of my face. “What is it, sunshine?” Grabbing his hand, I held it to my cheek and closed my eyes. “I love you.”The feelings I had for the other men in my life didn’t compare to the overpowering sense of fulfillment I had with Paxton. It was different, more complete. “Say it again,” he commanded. “Only this time, keep your eyes open and look at me.” My pulse sped rapidly as I turned to stare at him. There was no rejection in his face, only raw, primal heat. It made me shiver. “I love you, Paxton. It took me forever to figure out what I was feeling, but there it is. I love you.”Covering me with his body, he kissed his way up to my lips. “I want to make love to you.”When his lips found mine, I couldn’t keep my eyes from blurring. Pax saw the first drop fall and his brows furrowed. “Gabby, what’s wrong?” he asked gently. I shook my head and squeezed his hand. “Nothing. Everything is right for once. Don’t stop.” Picking his pace back up, he wiped away my tears and pressed his lips to mine. “Is it because I didn’t tell you I love you? Because I do. I love you, Gabriella. I just thought I would show you first.”“I love you, Gabriella. I’m so in love with you it hurts. And don’t even get me started on the lust.” I laughed through my tears and held his face in my hands. “I know the feeling.”
Smirking, Scar sat back in the chair and crossed his leg at the knee, looking calm and relaxed. “I have a proposition for you, Miss Reynolds.”“I want you to fight for me, Gabriella. Just three fights is all I ask. After having to pick up and leave Las Vegas, I need compensation. You and Reaper were the cause of that breach.” “We didn’t breach anything. We’ve kept your secret and not said a word. I don’t owe you anything.” “You might not, but Reaper does. I can always take this to him, but you don’t want me to do that. I deal with men differently than I do women. Not to mention, Rage wants you, so we have to play this delicately. Reaper’s a good fighter and I don’t want to see him ended over this.” “Ended? Are you saying you’re going to kill him if I don’t help you?” He had to be bluffing. Surely, he wouldn’t just kill someone for no reason. “I have to do what I have to do, Miss Reynolds. I need your help and you’re going to give it to me. If you don’t, Paxton dies.”
What I liked the most is seeing how the “bad guys” Tyler and Camden help their friends. Tyler helps Paxton giving him the true identity of Rage and Camden helps protect Gabby. Not all is lost for these 2.
I was delighted to see that not all is lost yet with Camden. In the other books he seemed like an asshole, but I was very sad to see how he lost everything he had and loved. He is still a little lost but hopefully it will find his way back and enjoy of his nephew and niece.❤️ to see the terror twins back again and fighting together.

I loved reading Paxton's Promise! It was a fast, easy read full of passion, steaminess, and danger. The deeper you go into the story, the more it sucks you in, and you don't want to stop reading until you finish. It is an awesome book and I just loved it!
Paxton is one hot alpha male! He's so strong, determined, and possessive. He knows that he wants Gabby and he's not going to stop until she's his. Pax is very protective, sweet, and romantic, but he's still a growler. I love that and him!
Paxton's Promise may not be the longest book ever or the most complicated, but it still has great values. Keeping promises and protecting those you love are very important themes and it's part of what makes this book so awesome.
I very much enjoyed this story. I loved the characters, the steaminess, and the danger. I would say I loved the mystery, but I figured out who the antagonist pretty quickly, so there wasn't any really, but I was cool with that. I just adored reading this and I absolutely cannot wait to read Camden's book.

Loving this series
This series just gets better and better. I could not wait to read Paxton's story and I wasn't disappointed. The sexual tension between Gabby and Paxton was hot. You knew that she wanted to give in but was afraid she would hurt her brother. Their story was unbelievable and you could feel every emotion when you were reading. I just couldn't put this book down, once I started reading I couldn't stop. I can't wait to read Camden's story next

This story was also hot and cute but I didn't like about it was the fact that 95% was from Gabby's point of view - why? I wanted to see more from Pax

I think I'm running out of words to describe how much I love this author's work. I seem to just be repeating myself now, but that doesn't make it any less true. L.P. Dover has created a great cast of characters in this series and I adore them all--Paxton was no exception.
This book has everything I love about this author: romance, suspense, tension, and of course hot MMA fighters. I really struggle to put down a Gloves Off book and despite telling myself I'm going to drag reading it out so that I get a few days with the characters, I always finish them within a day.
Paxton's Promise tells of Gabby's story and picks up where her relationship ends with Pax from Ryley's Revenge. Whilst it is a standalone read, I'd read all of the books in order as there are references to past books/character stories, and they're also too good not to.
I really liked Gabby ever since she first made an appearance in the series. She's a strong female lead and I like that she's not afraid to speak her mind or stand up for those she cares about. Moreover, I like the tension between her and Pax. It made for an interesting start as she tries to resist him and deny herself what she really wants. Similarly, you see a different side to Pax in this book and I loved that. You get his back story and just like all of the other fighters, you can't help but fall in love with him.
I will admit that I didn't really know what else was going to happen in this book because I bought the paperback as soon as I saw it was live without reading the blurb. Therefore parts with Rage--which I'm not going to reveal--shocked me slightly as it wasn't what I was expecting. I really enjoyed the sinister/dark underground fighting world, and how it added this dangerous undertone to the book. Also with the added drama caused by Rage it really became an engaging read that was impossible to put down.
The only negative was that I did guess what was going on before the end. However, I really don't care about that because I love L.P's writing. Also, Mason returns! YAY! So that makes me care even less because he's still my favourite since he introduced me to this author.
Overall, Paxton's Promise is another brilliant addition to this series, and near the top on my list of favourites. I'd highly recommend this author's work, and I can't wait for Camden's book now!

I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. This one picks up from Ryley's Revenge with Gabby having to pay up to Paxton for his helping Ryley and Ashleigh. She is not wanting to spend any time with him. She knows he wants her and her body wants him but her mind is fighting it. Some how Paxton lets her get away with the time they spend together be two weeks instead of four. Is that a good thing? She will not give in to him, he will have to make the first move. But Paxton is tired of chasing her, so he will let her make the first move. Both are stubborn as the day is long. She follows Paxton one night and sees a blonde hug him and she gets mad. And then Paxton sees her with another guy and he goes all caveman. Can you say jealousy is evil and will make you do things that could be good or bad. For both Gabby and Paxton it brings them together. When someone starts leaving black roses and notes for Gabby, she will do whatever she has to keep those she loves safe. But when that one person she has come to love, Paxton is threatened, she will do what it takes. There is MMA fights, more underground fights, strange neighbors and Camden being him usual self. Will Camden help Gabby or will he turn his back on her? Will she be able to protect Paxton? Can Paxton keep him promises of keeping her safe? This series just gets better and better with each story. I loved this one and can't wait for Camden's Redemption coming early 2015.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Paxton's book. We've seen glimpses of him throughout the series, him being part of Kyle's crew, him taunting Gabby, but never what was his true self. Paxton has a past, a past that involves the Dark Side. He's done things he's not proud of but he did them with good intentions. He was never the guy everyone thought he was. He knows what he wants and he will do whatever he needs to to get it. He wants Gabby.
After Pax makes his terms clear, she stays with him for a month. Being that close can she fight the feelings she has for him? When she finds out she is the obsession of Rage. She has to do something she never thought she would. Finding an unlikely ally, can she destroy Rage?
I love this series. I can't wait for Camden's story, there is so much to him I can't wait to find out who he really is!

Wow, this might have been my most favorite of the whole A Gloves off series. I have been waiting for Gabby’s story and I am so glad that it did not disappoint. Paxton was super sexy and sweet. Gabby was her usual spunky trouble making self and I just loved their chemistry. She gets into big trouble this time and it is up to Paxton to save her.

I really did love Pax. He might be most favorite of this series so far. He was totally swoony. Gabby is also a favorite of mine. She is strong and compassionate but still goes for what she wants in life without taking any crap and I love her character so much. She is definitely the kind of female lead that I enjoy reading.
This story packs a lot of action in along with some steamy sexy scenes and while this might be my most favorite of the series so far, I have a feeling Camden’s story is going to blow this one out of the water. I do love myself a reformed bad boy with naughty tendencies. I hope he meets himself a girl so sweet he cannot resist. I am literally dying for Camden’s Redemption!!!

I have not read any of the previous books in this series and admittedly I feel confused and in the dark about some gongs on with the characters, main & secondary. That issue aside I still enjoyed this book very much. I liked the MCs a lot. I like that Pax (at least from this book I'm unsure of the other books) is not a man-whore! I've grown so tired of man-whores sudden,y reforming for their girl. Gabby is great too. I like that she's no shrinking violet and she herself is a MMA fighter. I've read a few MMA based romances but this is the first to have the heroine be a MMA fighter. I also liked that there was no jealous woman trying to break apart the relationship, no lame misunderstanding to keep our couple apart either! Gabby had a stalker (it's pretty easy to figure out who it was) but, and this may be a sexist double standard, I was ok with that. I much prefer the h have a stalker than the H have a jealous woman waiting to wreak havoc.
This book had just the right amount of mystery and steaminess! I'd recommend it.

This is part of a series of MMA stories, which all interlink, so although it is an excellent story in its own right, I would recommend that you read the series in order.
In the last book we discovered more about Paxton, but definitely not enough. His interest in Gaby was as disturbing as it was exciting. Now pretty much everything is laid bare - the bad, the good and the utterly delicious. The plot is clever, and the twist was well executed, and suspenseful. The hotness quotient is as high as with all the others, as is the dedication to MMA, and its lifestyle. Great stuff, and very happy to know that Cameron is the next character to get his story told...

It was freakin fantastic! I enjoyed read this one so much. I love how both fighters found love with the danger that was put in their way. Loved seeing Pax's love for Gabby. I also liked that Gabby never backs down on a fight. If you love reading about mma fighters, then I suggest you read the series.

where do i start? im in love with these books and i have no idea why. i can ramble about this book for a good solid 30 mins if i tried.
i wasnt sure what to expect with this one as i didnt know what the big climax of the story would be as the whole deal they had was for Gabby to live with Pax. i thought was it gonna be a simple 2 week story? NOPE ANYTHING BUT THAT.
underground fighting ring was bound to show up more eventually, you hear about it in the last one but i knew it wasnt the end. Gabby has is being stalked by a guy named Rage and they are trying to find him and she has to fight guys are disgusting in so many ways or he'll kill Pax. some guys just dont have their heads on straight, i wont say what happens as i dont love writing the ending to the books on here, incase anyone actually does read these. but man oh man. 2 more books to go and im gonna be so sad when its over.

Man if there ever is a man who is perfect for Gabriella it is so Paxton Emerson. Not only do we see two fighters go up against a fight they never saw coming it is a chance to see how right they are in every way. We see a side of Paxton nobody has seen in a long time and that's including Gabriella herself. The connection they have is sweet but the passion they keep denying is hotter than ever. What started off as a debt soon become a love they never imagined having. All in all L.P. Dover once again shows us quite a few surprises but man they were worth going through between these two. This is one game that is all sweet, fun and hot definitely worth losing all in all. Loved it and so excited to see more of this awesome, rocking series.

I am enjoying this entire series and this book is just as good as all the others. The is Paxton's story and how he convinces Gabrielle that he is not who she thinks he is. It is another story of love, forgiveness and redemption and it is written well.
These MMA men are fighters in the ring. They don't stop until the bell rings and hopefully by the end they are the victor. In the ring they lick the blood from their lips, wipe the sweat from their brow and keep on going until they have defeated their opponent. Outside of the ring they are sweet, sexy and protective of the ones they love. Paxton is that guy. He knows what he wants, who he wants and won't stop until he get her.
Great story and moving on the the next.

As cliche as it sounds, this series keeps getting better and better. But in my opinion, each book jumps leaps and bounds above their series predecessor. As the stories build and intertwine, the series is more exciting, making this story the best so far! Paxton's Promise is exactly what fans of Paxton and Gabriella need and want. It intertwines two strong characters from the series into a perfect cohesive unit that will remind you why LP Dover is a genius and this series is fantastic.
Paxton's Promise picks up after Ryley's Revenge. At the end of Ryley and Ashleigh's story, Gabby made a bargain with Pax in order to have him help them infiltrate a dangerous underground fighting ring and save Ryley. At the beginning of the third book, we see that Pax has called in that bargain and asked that Gabby live with him for the next month, being with him day in and day out. His ultimate goal: to make her fall in love with him, show her that they are perfectly compatible, and ultimately find that one person to connect with on every level possible. Yet when you have two such strong headed and stubborn characters, there are bound to be bumps along the way. Add in a crazy stalker and threats on both their lives and you have a recipe for something mind boggling.
Gabby and Pax have been some of my favorite secondary characters throughout the series. Their story breaks from the theme of the series in one main way: both characters are fighters. In the books preceding, the men were fighters and the women were not. I think that this fact made me love the story more. It added a flair that we have not seen yet in the series and created a new level of excitement.
Gabby is a strong woman. A woman who knows what she wants and takes it. She is not a docile girl but she is not overbearing and hostile. She straddles the line and is able to adapt yet stay true to her personality. Her devotion to fighting is admirable and her determination to love and protect all those she cherishes in her life is heartfelt. If there is something she can do to protect those that she loves, she counts the cost as nothing and jumps in full steam ahead.
Pax is the mysterious fighter that you want to know more about. Throughout the entire series, he has been judged based on his past friendships and categorized as a bad guy. In the past few books, you see glimpses to the truth and his loyalty but you never truly know the whole story. In this book, we see the whole package, and let me tell you, I do love that total package! He is sweet, kind, loving, and family oriented. He is a fighter, a fierce protector, and passionate lover. He is essentially all that Gabby needs. Their start is rocky but once preconceived notions are abandoned, we have the premise of a great love story.
One thing that set this book over the top, even more than the fabulous coupling and characters, is the suspense/thriller aspect to this story. Paxton's Promise adds a new element of intrigue that is not as prevalent in the other books. We see an unknown threat that is stalking Gabby specifically and the web of lies and danger that out heroic couple is thrust into. I loved the mystery of what was going on and the way that the unknown was so well woven in their story. When the truth comes out, it is crazy and creates more depth and excitement to an already exciting story.
This book is exactly what fans of the Gloves Off series are clamoring for. The romance was perfect. The passion was on fire. The fighting was intense. The story was perfect. It is an epic balance of everything that makes this series fantastic with a dash of something more. LP Dover did not disappoint her fans and adds an incredible addition to the series. I am excited to see what happens next in Camden's story! I want more Gloves Off stories now! Don't miss this one and make sure to grab the series if you have not read them yet. This series does build and many aspects carry over. The series is intended to be read in order and not as standalone books!

We met Gabby at the beginning of the series, so watching her story unfold through all the books and novella just keeps you coming back for more. I love how Paxton will do anything to spend time with Gabby knowing she is fighting him every step of the way. Gabby is feisty and goes head to head with Paxton, pulling out all the stops to keep him at bay but no matter how much she denies it, she’s very attracted to Paxton.
The chemistry these two have explodes and the sexual tension is so thick it could be cut with a knife, so to speak. When danger arises both Paxton and Gabby will do what they need to to protect the other.
L.P. Dover kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next and if another twist was going to be thrown at us. This is an amazing romantic suspense and I love how L.P. Dover draws in the other character from stories in the series giving a close knit family feeling to the series. I’m glad the series still have more books to come out as I know I’m not ready to give up these character just yet. She has done an awesome job on this entire series and I more than highly recommend this book and the whole series to any of my fellow readers!

I’ve read this book multiple times and this book is one of my go to re-reads of the Gloves Off Series but I’ve never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Gabriella “Gabby” and Paxton “Pax”. In order for Pax to agree to take Gabby and Ashley to the Dark Side to save Ryley as him and his twin brother Camden were fighting to the d*ath, Gabby had to agree to spend a month with him. Gabby has been interested in Pax for awhile but because he was friends with Kyle she assumed that he was involved in Kyle’s scheme to f*ck with her brother Matt but him and Kyle had stopped being friends by then and little does Gabby know is that Pax actually restored Matt’s Bronco and that they’ve actually liked and known each other for years so out of loyalty to her brother she’s been a complete b*tch to him for awhile now and is planning to stay away at all costs. Before going to stay at Pax’s for a month she receives a single black rose with a note saying One is just the beginning, the black and notes keep showing up at her door, increasing by a rose each time she receives a new note. Once she tells Pax about the notes and the roses they’re both worried that she has a stalker so Pax gives Mason a call to let him what’s happening.
Gabby has no idea who’s sending them and why but she gets her answer when Scar the owner/organiser of the Dark Side and two of his muscle show up at her apartment to tell her that she owes him and that she has to fight a few fights for him which of course she turns down until Scar tells her that they’ll k*ll Pax aka the Reaper if she doesn’t and that she should also cool it down with him as one of his fighters Rage wants her as he’s obsessed with her so she agrees to fight in order to keep Pax safe. Rage is a complete psychopath stalker and he’s k*lled women before when he didn’t get his own way as well as a some men if any of those women had boyfriends and because he’s also completely obsessed with Gabby he will stop at nothing until she’s his. I enjoyed seeing Camden and seeing that he doesn’t seem like he’s fully lost what’s left of his humanity, he’s just lost and thinks he has no one to turn to after what he did to his twin Ryley and Ryley’s girlfriend Ashley so I’m really looking forward to reading his book and seeing him get his redemption. I’m also glad that Kyle gave Pax Rage’s real name so Mason could find out who he is and what they’re looking at and he also checked in to see how Pax was doing after the news broke about what happened at the Dark Side and he had a chat to Gabby which wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be and that she seemed to think that he was being genuine. Pax was also happy that he might eventually get his friend back, the real Kyle from when they were younger and way before he started sabotaging people to win at any costs. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Before going to stay at Pax’s for a month she receives a single black rose with a note saying One is just the beginning, the black and notes keep showing up at her door, increasing by a rose each time she receives a new note. Once she tells Pax about the notes and the roses they’re both worried that she has a stalker so Pax gives Mason a call to let him what’s happening.
Gabby has no idea who’s sending them and why but she gets her answer when Scar the owner/organiser of the Dark Side and two of his muscle show up at her apartment to tell her that she owes him and that she has to fight a few fights for him which of course she turns down until Scar tells her that they’ll k*ll Pax aka the Reaper if she doesn’t and that she should also cool it down with him as one of his fighters Rage wants her as he’s obsessed with her so she agrees to fight in order to keep Pax safe. Rage is a complete psychopath stalker and he’s k*lled women before when he didn’t get his own way as well as a some men if any of those women had boyfriends and because he’s also completely obsessed with Gabby he will stop at nothing until she’s his. I enjoyed seeing Camden and seeing that he doesn’t seem like he’s fully lost what’s left of his humanity, he’s just lost and thinks he has no one to turn to after what he did to his twin Ryley and Ryley’s girlfriend Ashley so I’m really looking forward to reading his book and seeing him get his redemption. I’m also glad that Kyle gave Pax Rage’s real name so Mason could find out who he is and what they’re looking at and he also checked in to see how Pax was doing after the news broke about what happened at the Dark Side and he had a chat to Gabby which wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be and that she seemed to think that he was being genuine. Pax was also happy that he might eventually get his friend back, the real Kyle from when they were younger and way before he started sabotaging people to win at any costs. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
