Cannot wait to begin to find my roots. I am part Italiano and crave this type of food daily. As a child, I watched and inherited the knack to spice heaven. I am overweight and have developed Gout. There are restrictions to my diet, especially the meat products but my imagination is humming with ideas from the book. It was a joy reading the forward, and I will pursue the ideas that I lost somewhere in the past.
Very salad heavy one red flag is the use of epsom salt in place of table salt. This will give you a case of the screaming trots as epsom salt is used to treat extreme constipation. Perhaps it is to mimic a "high fiber" diet?
That aside, there are some very tasty recipes here. So give it a shot but leave the Epsom salt in the bathroom to add to your bath.
This is supposed to be a Mediterranean diet yet in several recipes are items I've never seen in the Mediterranean. I spend 3 months every year in Majorca and was looking for a book to use there. This is a load of American dross.
