This is the second book in Eva Devon’s Duke’s Club series and what a deliciously wicked treat is was! Lots of ribald humour and sinfully sexy romance.

How I imagine Jack…
description
“I’m am not an archeological site, my lady. No matter how deep you dig, there is no hidden treasure to be found.”

Jack is just the sort of hero I have a weakness for…a rogue with a vulnerable side. His father had constantly instilled in Jack the belief that he would never be anything but a failure. This belief is so deep-rooted that his life becomes an empty, emotionless existence of ‘enjoying women, drinking to excess, and avoiding his responsibilities’. He has never tasted true happiness.

How imagine Cordelia (Cordy)…
description

I’m partial to unconventional heroines; so how could I not love a sun-tanned heroine with worn fingers and a practical approach to negotiations with grave robbers and idiot Italians! Cordy is a charming heroine with her openness, her honesty, her adventurous spirit and the way she is not afraid to speak her mind. ‘Clever, vivacious, good fun, were all words she’d heard to describe her. Beautiful.? No. And surely such a man only appreciated women who were beautiful.’ This glimpse of vulnerability makes Cordy even more more endearing.

The romance between these two was an intoxicating mix of perfect chemistry, simmering sexual tension, heated exchanges and sensual love scenes. I love how ultimately Jack shows Cordy that she is truly beautiful – ‘a woman who could slay a ballroom of men if she chose’ while Cordy helps Jack realise his own self-worth and enables him see his past in true perspective.

This book is full of uproariously funny dialogue and laugh-out-loud scenes. This conversation between Charles, Jack’s twin brother, and Cordy is one of my favourites.

“Nincompoop. I’ve been insulted many a time in my life but never with a trivial word. If you’re going to insult someone woman –“
“Fine, “ she snapped then smiled up at him with a hint of deviltry that would have lured Mephistopheles out to dance, “You’re the oozing fester upon ass’s behind.”
“Ah.” Charles’ lips twitched. “Now that will do”

One of my favourite scenes is where Jack rescues Cordy from the clutches of his overbearing grandmother by shinning up a tree. The resulting antics are hilarious.

Jack and Cordy are surrounded by a wonderful array of quirky characters, all there to either help or hinder our lovers on their path to an inevitable happy ending.

~~ The aforementioned Charles with his bawdy remarks - “What about it my dear. Would you like to be pressed between two twins?”

~~ Hyacinth Eversleigh, Duchess of Eversleigh, Jack’s mother who has a tendency to embarrass him with stories of a most intimate nature – “It took me a great deal of exercise to restore myself to my taut-“ A strangled note rather like a dying pigeon blurted past his lips.

~~ Jack’s grandmother – “Her Grace, The Dowager Duchess of I’m Better than Everybody, Mentally, Morally and Physically”

~~ Lady Gemma, Jack’s rather exuberant younger sister – …launching Lady Gemma was going to be like launching a Spanish galleon than a young and proper woman.

~~ Not forgetting Cordy’s hulking brothers , very protective, unless they happen to be in their cups!

Kathryn and Ryder ( Once Upon a Duke ) make a welcome appearance and there are possible hints of future heroes to grace the series.

I thought the final chapter was very moving and felt that Jack had finally put his past behind him.

Jack knew that everything was going to be all right. In fact, it was going to be more than all right. It was going to be absolutely, bloody glorious.

Dreaming of the Duke was funny, romantic, touching and sensual, with delightful, quirky, larger-than-life characters who stole my heart. More Duke’s Club please!

"A wife will spy upon her husband" The first line in Eva Devon's new book caught me and never let go. Sometimes when I do a review I have trouble putting in to words how much I really liked the book. In this case I have no problem saying I Loved this book from the first sentence to the last. Her writing is stunningly descriptive, deeply emotional and hystericallly funny. I have not laughed this much reading a book in a long time. Her characters are intelligent, captivating and funny as hell!!! I usually do not give spoilers in my review because I want you to go out and buy this book, but there are so many scenes in this book that had me laughing out loud that I have to share one!!!

"You do realize I am still tied up and lying upon the ground."
"It has occurred to me, yes"
"And"
"I suppose you would like me to untie you."
"Yes. That would be pleasant, thank you."
"But you see," I should like to discover what it is about you that would cause my brother to act in such an odd fashion. He doesn't usually take such interest in women."
"Are you saying he prefers men?"

And there are many more like this throughout the book!!!

The heroine Cordelia is a strong, smart, stubborn, and gives as good as she gets. Jack is a self proclaimed scroundrel who hides his insecurites and doubts behind a mask of indifference and jadedness. The are perfect for each other, they just don't want to admit it to themselves or each other. The emotional journey that the author takes her characters on is astonishing, deeply heart wrenching and so beautiful.

There are great secondary characters also. Jack's twin brother Charles is dangerously appealing and I hope he gets his own book, even though he is not a Duke.

I am giving this book 5 stars because it is one of the best I have read this year. Do not miss it!!

A feisty heroine, a naughty duke, a marriage by gambling proxy, a loveable Dowager Duchess & debauchery retreat make a FIRE EXTINGUISHERS REQUIRED romance!

Cordelia Eversleigh, Duchess of Hunt, was married by proxy at the age of 10 to the 2nd son of a duke, thanks to her gambling dad. She grew up unconventional with following her archeological dad, unhappy mom, a pack of brothers that needed her beotch slaps upside their heads, desert sheiks, uppity aristocrats, archeological digs galore & even dealing with Arabian princes. Now Cordy is in London, determined, unwanted, lonely, pissed off & a miserable VIRGIN, with a bad rep, so what's a girl to do? Move into the home of her pen pal, who just happens to be the scandalous Duchess of Darkwell, prove she is a VIRGIN, petition for an annulment & if she happens to embarrass her cruel, heartless hubby, all the better! So falling then the steps of the scandalous Duchess, she goes DUKE STALKING because the nincompoop doesn't seem to know her!

Jack Eversleigh, Duke of Hunt, was born a 2nd son of a duke, but the death (which he blame himself for) of his older brother, he was cursed with the Duke title, but THANK THE LORD that his grandmamma, the iron fisted Dowager Duchess, take care of all the day to day dukey thingies. Jack has always been all about alcohol, married and/or loose women & hanging with the members of the Dukes Club, but the only duke in town is sickly happily married one, so he is at a loss of what to do & sharing women with his twin, Charles, just isn't working for him.

So Jack meets his wife at a Pub holding his next bottle of gin & Cordy can't believe how "could make a granny's undies wet" gorgeous her hubby is, but he doesn't know her & she isn't going to spill the beans. They are interrupted by the enraged Duke of Darkwell, but Jack learns that this unique creatures is staying with he Duke & Duchess, so he knows she is scandalous, ripe for the picking & he is just the man to pick her many fruit filled moans (couldn't resist the fruit pun). At the Darkwell home Cordy meets his perky & exhausting baby sister, Gemma, learns that the Dowager Duchess wants her gone, she is in all the scandal rags & is so properly introduced to her pissed off Duke, who wants her gone & under, above and/or against any available with him swallowing her SCREAMS!

These 2 will either kill each other or start ripping clothes off, but they have a LOOOONG & bumpy ride with some cursed & helpful Fairy Godfolks along the way! So there is undies ripping, a Dowager Duchess raging war, too many interruptions, boots peeking from under more than 1 ladies skirt, a daring escape via a tall tree, a twisted twin, a kidnapping, a hunt lodge of debauchery, a naughty bath that awakens her inner HO, semi to hard to granite, dripping girlie parts, many mutual HAPPY ENDINGS, a returning Duke of Ashton with really bad advice, troublemaking & unwanted brothers, hilarious galore, 2 hearts beating as one, a man pushing away his rightness (HELLO, it's the male species) & a feisty lady willing to fight for her man to take this romance into nibbling, salacious, lascivious WANTONESS! Can Jack learn that he deserves love? Will Cordy be able to uncover his heart with her archeological skills? Does she get her annulment? Will Jack let her sail back to Egypt? How will the Dowager Duchess make things go her way? Who is the next Duke to fall?

This is the 2nd book of Ms. Devon's Duke's Club series & she had me ROFLing from her one liners, like “I would rather drink camel urine,” & “You’re the oozing fester upon an ass’s behind.” I absolutely loved the 1st book with all is KOOKINESS, but this tale was even funnier & made tears roll down my face. Now Cordy was a kick a$$ & DOES take names kind of heroine & she took life by the balls & TWISTED! She was the perfect match for the hero duke because she was super smart, refreshingly honest & saw everything, warts & all! Now Jack was much different than he was in the 1st book, but he was an unusual & unique duke because most duke are little boys craving mommy's love, but Jack's inner little boy was broken into pieces & screamed for just a speck of his daddy's love. Ms. Devon GIFTED each 1 with a mate who makes up the other's weaknesses, makes them strive to be more, holds their inner child in their loving embrace & a forever NAUGHTY bed mate! Now that I brought up sex, let's totally go there, shall we my peeps. Now Ms. Devon didn't give them their 1 week of "nothing is off limits" passions, but Jack was super instructive, great at ripping UNDIES & made sure Cordy never needed an AA battery powered boyfriend (did vibrators exist back then), while Cordy made his manhood shrivel for any other female EVER! Ms. Devon also packed in a pack of quirky & hilarious cast of characters that had amazing one liners, a venus trap mom, a Dowager Duchess that I really loved, the scandalous Duke & Duchess of Darkwell, Charles the twin I want to see fall hard, the missing Duke from book #1, Cordy's rambunctious brothers & so many more! So it is probably not a big shocker or surprise that Ms. Devon gets my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes for her witty, fast paced dialogue, HILARIOUSNESS galore, kooky cast of characters & let's not forget the yummy PULL THE FIRE ALARM scenes! I do have just 1 request for Ms. Devon, WRITE FASTER!

ARC given for my honest review.

MEH. I WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS ONE. AFTER READING THREE STORIES OF THIS SERIES, I REALIZED HOW REPETITIVE THE AUTHOR'S PLOTS WERE. Hero meets heroine, some form of seduction occurs...and then it's always the hero who gets cold feet or is tied down by the ghosts of his past, leaving the heroine tattered before he finally mans up to do the right thing.

OUR HERO was someone I was intrigued with when he was introduced and frankly I read this series backwards so I assumed Jack to be quite the austere Duke. Sadly, that is not the case. Jack suffers from low self-esteem borned from guilt and such (I didn't really paid much attention) from his brother and father's death. Surprisingly, he doesn't hold much power in the duchy but his grandmother rules over his judgments. It has been a decade since his marriage by proxy to Cordelia and imagine his surprise when his wife is now back, only to want a divorce/annulment. But, something stops him from giving him what she wants, and that part of him makes me want to smack him in the head and demand 'WHAT THE HELL IS IT THAT YOU WANT?' Don't be an ass and play with a woman's feelings. Truly, despite being a 'Duke' there was nothing worth mentioning about this man...his character leaves you quite...uncertain. In other words, his personality isn't strong and doesn't outshine anyone else that you can think of. That's a rather sad case.

OUR HEROINE is another strong heroine much like the others in this series. More crazy about digging up dirt in the sand dunes of Egypt and unearthing hidden treasures, she's now in London to demand a divorce from her elusive husband before going on to a better part of her life. However, she never pegged on being attracted to the damn man, or have him wreck havoc on her heart, leaving her torn between wanting him, pushing him away and fighting for him. Like all of Devon's heroines so far...she pursues the man, boldly declares her love and gets rejected...and then waits for him to get his head out of his arse and proclaim undying love.

OVERALL I don't know why I still read these stories....but it's a waste not to finish something I already started. This author's stories...they leave me quite unsatisfied in ways I can't wholly describe, but the plots are repetitive...and not mind-blowing or swoon worthy. It's pretty average...depending on how much Historical Romances you've devoured in your life.

This was one of those stories I can honestly say I liked each character from start to finish. Even the eccentric and peculiar, secondary ones. Our hero Jack was indeed a rake, not only by description but by deeds and actions. So much so that he was borderline jerkish and petulant but funny thing is that he was also charming and witty. And he was ok with his character, or rather lack of, which in turn gave him an interesting personality.

“’There. Now, isn't that civilized?’
He was tempted to point out that it had been civilized inside. But he was aware that such a comment was common to the male who inevitably ended up sleeping alone or paying light o’loves.[...]”

Dear Cordy on the other hand was level-headed, innocent in her own way without sounding dense, tended to ramble without being annoying, had her very own convictions, and generally went after what she wanted without being apologetic.

“That one look slammed through him with a terrifying intensity. That gaze spoke volumes rendering him a position of superiority. He felt it. In her eyes, that somehow he'd not only come up to snuff, but far exceeded anything she might have hoped for.”

I’ve read other stories where the hero is utterly horrible towards the heroine, treats her like a doormat and she still is head-over-heels over him for no other reason than it’s their destiny to end up together. Here Cordelia gives Jack a run for his money, neither one of them is ever sure of the other’s feelings because there are both each other’s equals. I wish people would overlook the grammar mistakes and focus more on the story, or request a newer copy of the story because it truly is, at least in my opinion, a story worthy of reading.

Dreaming of the Duke (Duke’s Club Book #2) by Eva Devon

Now, all she wishes is to go to Paris and study the mysteries of the hieroglyph. There's only one problem. She needs to annul her marriage to the husband she has never met. But when she comes face to face with the infamous duke, he stirs a wicked desire in her nature that shocks her to the tips of her oh so practical toes.
A duke longing to be tamed.
Born the second son, Jack Eversleigh, now the Duke of Hunt, has accepted he is going to be a terrible duke. Loving wine, women, and song, he knows there's only one thing to do. Live up to his debauched reputation. But when a young woman tracks him down in a London pub, prim, proper, and with a tongue that would make the devil envious, he is captivated. . . Until he discovers that she is his wife.
Can these two embrace an arranged marriage á la mode or will their stubborn minds conquer their passionate hearts?

I love reading stories with strong women. Cordelia is a wonderful character! She has lived an incredible life, travelling through the mid-east and India. She has experienced adventure on a scale that most modern women could only wish for. She loves her freedom and the exploration of ancient civilizations. I kind of imagined her as regency Indiana Jones.
Cordelia has a problem however. She has a husband that she has never met and the time has come for her to secure her freedom. She travels to London to meet this husband that she was married to by proxy and to secure an annulment or divorce.
Her arrival in London causes uproar. The stories about her life are wildly embellished – she has been in a harem, she has seduced princes and worn pants on more than one occasion. To staunch London, they don’t know what to make of her. Is she here for her reluctant husband? Is she here to continue her scandalous ways?
Cordelia and Jack meet under interesting circumstances. He thinks she is a prostitute and she is intrigued by her husband. Jack’s family becomes immediately involved in the tangle they are in and insert themselves with their opinions. His sister and mother are delighted with Cordelia, his brother suggests he seduces her and moves on and the dragon matriarch of the family is willing to imprison Cordelia in order to make the marriage stick.
With all this interference, Jack daringly rescues Cordelia from his grandmother’s clutches and whisks her away to a retreat in the countryside. He is fascinated by his wife, but yet he can’t imagine actually being a husband. When Cordelia asks for an annulment and willingly submits to a doctor to prove her virginity, it only heightens his interest and lust for her. She does not want to be taken to the country where she knows that Jack can sway her to his will. It was amusing how she attempts to evade him, only to be rescued by his twin brother who once again puts her in Jack’s care.
Jack’s brother was a very interesting secondary character. To say that he is a wastrel and womanizer is an understatement. Apparently the two brothers are quite prolific in the bedroom. Sharing women and enjoying many women at one time. If the author is going to use his brother as the main character in a book, it would be hard for me to get the images out of my head of his brazen exploits in the bedroom out of my mind.
Once Jack and Cordelia are alone, passion takes over. She still wants the annulment, he doesn’t know what he wants, but having her in his bed is priority number one. She is deeply attracted to him and wants to know what she has been missing out on in life. The passion they share was very hot. With all his experience, he is a magnificent lover and Cordelia is a lucky lady. I really enjoyed the love scene and it was graphic without being lurid.
Jack’s problem in life is that he doesn’t feel worthy. He was a second son and never meant to be the Duke. He leaves the control of the estate in the hands of his grandmother. The family all believes that the love and partnership of the right woman will give him the courage to exert himself. He starts to believe that he could be that man and that the love of Cordelia is what he needs. But like most men, he gets cold feet and turns coward when it comes time to commit. He turns her away and is tied in knots about what he should be doing.
Well, Cordelia is no coward. She has finally found what she wants and she is willing to fight for it. With the help of his family and her friends, she takes London by storm. She essentially stalks Jack, forcing him to face her and deal with the fact that she is in London for good. Even though she is deeply hurt by his words and actions, she still fights for what they have developed.
Her many brothers show up in London and make their displeasure known to Jack and his brother. After a good dust up, they are encouraging Jack to make amends with Cordelia. I never understand that about men – how they can fist fight and then finish it off with a drink and a laugh.
Jack’s moment has come when he finds out that Cordelia is expecting a baby. His baby. He now has to make a choice – face his reality and what he truly, deep down wants or turn coward and abandon her. Thankfully he makes the right choice and goes to Cordelia. He also looks to take on the responsibilities of the dukedom and make peace with the past that has held him prisoner for so many years.
This was a fun book to read. I liked the characters and I liked the chase two married people lead each other on. Cordelia was such a treasure and it was a relief when Jack’s opinion turns from lust and intrigue to love and need. It feels good as a reader to step into a story that makes you laugh, frustrated, angry, intrigued and satisfied.

Ugh.

Jack was a terrible husband who neglected his wife for 15 years. Cordelia was a strong independent woman who sought her estranged husband to get an annulment. She finds him in London and he becomes drawn to her immediately. Despite not knowing who she was, he resolves to seduce her. Only to realize a day later that his mystery woman is his wife. Shocked by her request but intrigued by her personality, he decides to offer her a compromise. He'll give her her freedom if she surrenders herself to him for 1 week. Being naturally curious about sex and undeniably attracted to Jack, Cordelia agrees to stay. And after spending all of 3 days in her husband's presence, she is alarmed to realize she's falling for him.

Now all this sounds awesome at first. A husband and wife reuniting after more than a decade apart and actually falling for each other. They were wed as children (she was 10 and he was 13) when Jack was only the second to the heir. With his older brother's death, he was suddenly pushed to play the role of a Duke, something he never wanted and didn't think he deserved. If only the title didn't come with so much annoying baggage, then perhaps I would've been more sympathetic to Jack.

As it was, his inferiority complex made him a terrible romantic hero. He was weak, indecisive and irresponsible. If his personality wasn't bad enough, his treatment of his wife was much worse. He kidnaps his wife after she repeatedly expressed her desire to dissolve their marriage. When she eventually capitulates and confesses her feelings for him, he uses his low opinion of himself to push her away. It would've been admirable if he did this but then quickly changes his mind and begs her to take him back. Sadly the opposite is true. She chases him instead and he continues to play hard to get. It was only when he finds out she was pregnant did he turn things around. Jack truly was a shitty hero until the end. His declaration of love seemed fake af. I just can't believe that an intelligent woman like Cordelia would ever love a loser like him.

Originally given 4.5 hearts at Rookie Romance.

This is a charming, funny and downright romantic story from Eva Devon and the latest in the Duke's Club series.

Cordelia is a wonderfully refreshing and unconventional heroine. She's forthright and honest, with a sharp sense of humour. She's practical and wants to be free to pursue her work, but finds herself encumbered by an absentee husband. She goes to London to seek an annulment, but finds her plan soon goes awry when she meets her husband. I loved that even though Cordelia has plenty of faith in her own abilities and is a capable, confident woman, she does still have insecurities and isn't infallible.

Jack appears to the world a carefree scoundrel who merrily makes his way through life and women. It's very much a facade though, and he's riddles with pain and vulnerabilities which he takes great measures to conceal. He's always though he wasn't worthy of his title and that he couldn't be anything but a failure. Against his judgement he's drawn to his wife, he thinks he can't make her happy but he can't seem to let her go either.

I love Jack and Cordelia together. Jack makes Cordelia see herself through his eyes and see that she is beautiful. Cordelia is the perfect woman to make Jack realise that he can be a worthy husband and Duke. She's strong willed and determined even when Jack relentlessly pushes her away.

The secondary characters certainly make for some amusing escapades as they interfere, for better or worse, in Cordelia and Jack's marriage. It was also great to have Kathryn and Ryder from Once Upon a Duke make appearances in this book.
This is a fun story filled with passionate seductions, laughs aplenty and the coming together of two people who find everything they never knew they needed in each other. I'd definitely recommend Dreaming of the Duke to anybody!

I truly enjoyed this book. it had me laughing and yelling all at the same time.

Cordelia Duchess of Hunt is in search of her husband by poxy who has failed to come and retrieve her when she became of age. She doesn't seek him out because she wants a marriage, she does is because she desperately wants an annulment from a marriage that she doesn't believe is truly legal. Cordy, as she is know by her friends, follows her wayward husband about trying to find an opportunity to speak with him. When she finally does, he mistakes her for a doxy, a prostitute. Before Cordy is able to correct him, he gets called away.

Jack Eversleigh, Duke of Hunt, has always believe he was only good for three things; drinking, whoring and rescuing his twin brother for chaos. From a young age his father convinced him he was worthless and to blame for the death of his oldest brother. When Jack sets out to find out who the mysterious woman he had met was, he was shocked. First, he finds out she's his wife then in the same breath he finds out she wants an annulment. He offers her the annulment she seeks with one condition. he wants one week of passion with her. Cordelia agrees but will it be a mistake? will they share their passion and be able to part ways or will that passion bring them together to have a real marriage?

Eva Devon writes a a fun romance that has the elements you could want. You will find plotting family members, kidnappers, daring escapes, passion, broken heroes, feisty heroines, and real friendships.

An excellent story for all to enjoy.

I read this in a day! Great romance for Cordella and Jack, who were married by proxy as children & had never lived on the same continent, let alone met each other. Cordella comes to London to get an annulment, and needless to say they are immediately attracted to each other, and Jack doesn't want her to go back to the continent. Besides the steamy scenes and the obvious love for each other, they each don't feel that they are good enough for the other. Cordy is actually the stronger personality of the two. There are excellent secondary characters who play a big part in the romance. Loved this book!

The premise of the story was cute. I wish they had done a bit more with Cordelia's story, but I like that they made her a strong character. However, I really struggled with the typos and incorrectly used words. For example, twice at the end of Chapter 29, "sink" was used when "sync" should have been used. In Chapter 30, "bare" was used when "bear" should have been used. Where the heck was the copy editor?!?!?! I thought I could look past a few incorrect uses of to, too, and two, but the other ones were just too much! I am serious rethinking my plan to read more in this serious. It really does detract from enjoying the story. Frustrating.

Aaaaaarghhhh!!! This book was such a deception...ugh! Through all of it, it was a bearable story with funny moments and the end... The end killed it. I'm in such a rage for it, so to sum up if the heroine wouldn't have ended up pregnant there wouldn't be a happy ending at all, seriously? Crappy love. Even when he said he loved her the only thing I kept thinking was because of the baby if not then you would have let her go... No way, for me it ruined the whole book. Ugh!

I want to give this book a 4 star rating but the ending really ruined it for me. I loved the book untill the sudden radical change in Jack suddenly all of his past deamons are gone the just like that. Its a nice idea that people change the way they think about things in a split secound but it was just too much for my personal taste.

I enjoyed reading "Dreaming of a Duke", it has the type of heroine and hero that I can relate to. It had a perfect combination of passion, romance, love and some comedic moments. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I couldn't finish it simply because the story seemed to drag out from chapter 1-32 and I couldn't do it anymore I kept hoping for some sort of excitement but if there's not any within that small of a time frame with as many grammar errors then I couldn't see going any further

The writing didn't flow for me and all the typos made it worse. Cordelia was an interesting heroine but it was disappointing that she took all the risks in the relationship. The hero, Jack, was weak and treated Cordelia like shite. Nothing romantic about this book.

An archaeologist duchess.

Cordelia Eversleigh, nee Basingstoke, has spent all her life in Egypt during which time she was married by proxy to Lord Eversleigh, the second son of a duke.
Jack Eversleigh was with his father and older brother Whelan accident occurred which took the life of the heir. From that day forward, his father blamed Jack for his heir's death and criticised him to such a degree that he just accepted that he was useless and would never be a good duke. So, from the moment of his father's death he led as dissolute life as possible and, if he ever thought of his marriage, used it to his own ends.
Imagine his surprise when Cordelia turns up in London! She tried to arrange a meeting without success so has to trick him. Cordelia can't understand why he won't meet with her as all she wants to do is organise an annulment of their marriage. Firstly she has to have a physician examine her to certify that she is a virgin.
The book has many humerous moments but also has its share of angst with Jack. There are a number of characters that I would have liked to see more of; Harris and the old dowager duchess for example.
I must say that the editing and proofreading were very poorly done but overall it was a nice story.

Dreaming of the Duke by Eva Devon
The Duke's Club Series Book Two
Jack Eversleigh, Duke of Hunt knows that he is not now, nor ever will be a good man. Or a good duke. So he lives a life of debauchery. An empty life. A life he feels he deserves. And no woman who he was strapped to as a child is going to change him into anything more than he is.

Cordelia Eversleigh, Duchess of Hunt has come to London to get an annulment and head back to the love of her life...digging for long buried treasures in far away countries. Unfortunately for her, her plan doesn't go off without any hitches. She didn't expect her “husband” to be so handsome or his family to be so forceful.

Loved their story. I liked that Cordelia stayed fairly firm against Jack instead of completely melting at his feet at first sight. Great secondary characters too.

A great read

It is well written will just a few mistakes with the word form which should be from but you can overlook it and truly enjoy the story. It will be you frastured and happy and you will cry happy and sad tears. The H/H were married by proxy when they were children by their fathers. The hero never collected her when she come of age and ignored her. The heroine decided she was going to go to London and get the marriage alluded and go back to Africa.

Started out great-writing and story line. Unfortunately the writer took a detour to ridiculous town. For example: The heroine was abducted (fortunately not by villains) several times. The escapes included throwing herself from a fast moving carriage, on to hard dirt, with her hands tied behind her back. She got up, pulled herself together and started walking.

The end was trite. The author can do better.

Jack and cordy

Wonderful read and good characters. All of his life he has went from one married woman to the next feeling he was not worthy of anything and certainly not of love, until he met his wife Cordelia. She bought him into the light and he becomes a better person for it. The only thing pacing is an extended epilogue. They get their HEA. Would highly recommend this series and author.🙂

Great book

Really enjoyed reading this book well written good characters well defined and the hero I didn’t like but you knew there was sadness in his heart I really enjoyed the strong character of the heroine. When you love someone you don’t give up on them. You will enjoy the book.

Entertaining and engaging, this story has some amusing moments. The Duchess tries to track her wayward, unsuspecting husband down to try to get an annulment, but that's before they actually meet. She's feisty and strong, he seems flighty, but has many redeeming qualities that are as hidden in his persona as the artifacts she wants to uncover.

I really enjoyed the banter between the protagonists. I wanted to see more of the previous lead couple. They were very much in the sad background. If there was a small cute moment here and there of them; it would have been amazing.

I can't write a book so

I can't say this wasn't good but it wasn't as good as the first one, that was excellent. I wasn't happy with Jack he wasn't what he was in the first book. I really like Cory a lot.

Great start and disappointing end

I don't know why but the ending disappointed me so much. There was no apology. Nothing. I believe deserved forgiveness but hell, make him actually work for it and prove it.
