Maggie and Beckett . . .
Maggie has been a turned vampire for a century now. She runs the snack stand in the middle of the dock. Wolf Beckett Everard, Alpha of the Shoreline Pack, runs a shipping business inherited from his father. Now Fate has revealed they are fated mates and Maggie is not happy! They have been ignoring each other for years and he openly admits hating vampires. Tonight feels different, though. He has lingered here longer than usual. And his scent actually aroused her interest. So she closes up early and hopes to get away from him, practically breaking into a run. She runs past her apartment and knocks on Constance’s door. She is about to walk out again when Constance goes into a trance. It’s obvious she sees the wolf in her trance… and thinks he’s handsome. But they she says this only happens when there’s an imminent threat, some kind of danger looming. It’s rare for a vampire to have a mate.
Beckett has sent his largest ship on a two-week shipping run, leaving him short-handed. His business makes money with small jobs no one else wants. But when one of them wants a big job, he needs to comply or lose that business. He spots Maggie and his wolf Ragnar comments when he calls her a name. Gary slammed the door and enjoyed watching Beckett startle because he was concentrating on the food stand. So he invites Beckett to accompany him and get some food there. The next day, she arrives before the sun comes up and sees Beckett leaning against the door. He accuses her of doing something to him; evidently he is feeling their bond as well and wants to deny they are mates despite his delightful scent of pine and sea air and the way he pushes up against her to let her know what she is missing. He makes it hard to think of an insult... But a screeching sound gets their attention when a dirty, dented metal boat pulls up to the empty gap along the dock where Beckett moors his largest boat. The smell is horrible, like raw sewage and rotten flesh. The ship is full of wolf smugglers, trading in magic and vampire body parts! And her mate turns protective of her! When he confronts them, the Captain says Beckett’s father hasn’t paid his dues in years, and he is here to collect. He further explains that Beckett’s father ignored the kinds of things being traded by the White Cap pack, paid his dues, and was left alone as long as he paid for their protection. His descendants who became Alpha were also included in the contract he signed. They intend to bring another boatload in by the next week. And right now, they are unloading vampire bodies to their client! With Beckett’s best men on the two-week job, he can’t defeat these guys. And he needs to find a way to keep his mate safe! Will they finally accept the mate bond they have been avoiding? Can they find a way to stop the illegal smuggling at the dock that puts vampires in danger?

Grumpy Alpha’s Vampire Mate is suspenseful and a page turning paranormal romance. The characters are fabulously written and perfectly executed throughout the story. This book is captivating from start to finish, entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book. I also didn’t want to set it down until I read the last page. The characters were quite entertaining, interesting and their story was absolutely phenomenal. Grumpy Alpha’s Vampire Mate follows the adventures of Beckett and Maggie. The chemistry between these two characters is smoldering hot and absolutely breathtaking. I adored getting to know both Beckett and Maggie as well as witnessing the feelings they have for one another grow stronger as their story unfolds through the pages of this book. I couldn’t get enough of Beckett and Maggie’s amazing story. I hope we get to see them again in another book. I would definitely give this book as a recommendation for anyone to checkout and give it a read. Grumpy Alpha’s Vampire Mate is amazingly written, well balanced with action/romance and perfectly executed by Sloan Samuels. She continues to showcase what a phenomenal author she is with each book I’ve read by her thus far. In my opinion, she creates and writes fantastic romances that I love reading. I can’t wait to see what her next book will be about.

Beckett took over as alpha when his father died the books were a total mess but then he found that his father had invested some of the money and the pack was wealthy, still continued to do the fishing and selling what they caught. Maggie loved the sunshine she remembers how it had felt but had a big awning so she wouldn’t get burned by the rays, she sold lobster rolls and beer to the men. Beckett couldn’t believe that his mate was a vampire but kept her safe when some smugglers showed up and demanded payment for protection because of the contract his father signed. They were going to kill all of the vampires in the area even though they never bothered the wolves. Beckett called his friend and hired a security company plus his allies helped him take care of the smugglers. Beckett accepted Maggie as his mate.

I would recommend this book for fans of paranormal suspense and paranormal romance. There is plenty of steam between Beckett and Maggie despite their reluctance to accept that they are fated mates.
Their struggle against those who forced Beckett’s father to sign a deal granting access to the port could be considered a statement against illegal trafficking that currently exists in our world.
The character development and world building was so descriptive, I could almost smell the smugglers. Maggie is a strong female lead who has learned to manage on her own so she struggles in accepting Beckett’s protectiveness. They were both relatable based upon the background shared with the reader and I would very much like to read a follow up story sharing their future.

The Grumpy Alpha’s Vampire Mate is an enemies to lovers, fated mates story and the 9th in the District of Wolf Desires series. Beckett is a grumpy werewolf alpha with pack that he has taken over from his father. Maggie is a century old vampire who has a few things to learn about these dogs that she sells lobster rolls too.
Overall it was an enjoyable story. Easy to follow along, great banter between the characters, lots of action. I would have loved more of Beckett and Maggie’s relationship. And Shoreline is such a different kind of pack I would have loved even more about pack life. It’s worth the read if you’re looking for a fun, slightly different werewolf story or if you love Sloan Samuels.

Great read! This book had me curious as to how the author was going to write a vampire and a wolf being fated mates. I say Sloan Samuels did a great job at making it happen.
Maggie works at a sandwich stand on the docks and Beckett is the alpha of the Shoreline pack and operates a shipping company. Maggie and Beckett try to fight the connection they feel for each other but there is so much tension and steam between stolen glances. When danger is brought to Maggie Beckett puts aside his hatred for vampires to protect her at all costs. The vampires and wolves team up and become allies to fight and put a stop against another packs illegal activity. The character development and world building was so descriptive and spot on, I could almost smell the smugglers.
If you're looking for a short story of enemies to lovers, fated mates, touch her and die, and found family.... this story is for you. 🥰🥰

Maggie and Beckett are fated mates from two very different backgrounds. He’s a wolf shifter, she’s a vampire and he really detests vampires . A mutual enemy from Beckett’s father’s past makes them strange bedfellows as well as having them cement their mate bond. This adversity is what makes this book good, it gives the impetus for them to get together as the Goddess intended. The storyline is good, the characters are interesting, it just lacks luster, it didn’t reach out and grab me as much as other Sloan Samuels books have. It’s well written and worth reading. 4✨’s.

It is always nice to find a good new fantasy writer to read books from.
This paranormal romance is a book from a series, but you can read it as a stand alone book. It is an romance book about an unexpected mate match between a werewolf and a vampire. Both weren't counting on it. But just when they were going to learn to know each other, there is trouble in paradise or actually at the docks. Bringing in evil werewolves with a very shady business.
Luckily for Maggie she can not only take care of herself but has Beckett and his friends by her side. I like how they are bantering together all the time and making word jokes.

This is one of my favourites from this series. There’s the drama, danger and hint of action from very early in the book. The steamy scenes do not overpower the story, but build the tension and attraction between Beckett and Maggie.
There are funny parts too, like when Beckett changes back from his wolf form and is naked in Maggies shack. Or when Vanessa tells Maggie she needs a shower because smells like wet dog.
But the way the different packs and characters from the series are woven into each book is seamless.

Things get hairy with the White Cap Pack and this puts Maggie in danger. Beckett puts aside his hatred for vampires to protect her and finally they accept the mate bond.
There is a fight between the packs in the end that I would have liked better detail of.
This is a quick steamy and enjoyable read.

Maggie is a vampire and Beckett is the alpha werewolf she is mated to who hates vampires,an unusual pairing but when they have to join together to stop the port being used for illegal smuggling .The chemistry between them sizzles! Loved that the book shows how indecent Maggie is and the struggle she has allowing Becketts strong alpha protectiveness towards her in ,it makes the book a great read and I will be reading more from this author

What a great book. Beckett is the alpha of the Shoreline pack who control the NY docks. Maggie is a vampire who runs the lobster roll shack for the man who turned her. Just before a boat docks in Beckett's space he discovers Maggie is his mate. Their HEA is full of banter and fighting to get rid of the sailors who are selling vampire body parts and stolen artefacts. This is a must-read.
