The long hard journey is over. Cannon Malloy's done hopping around, chasing after golden balls and elusive dreams. He's faced his demons, made his peace with his past. It's time to stop hiding, get out that suit of armor, try it on for size, and ride off into the sunset with his Prince Charming.
So why is Finn Lorensson suddenly more ogre than prince? The beast on Finn’s back turned out more pathetic than ferocious, but still he can't break free from the chains that duty and self-image impose. He may be forced into the shadows, but it'll be a cold day in hell before this knight errant turns his back on love.
Because when you find that one in a million frog, who's a cursed prince in disguise…
Well, some things are worth fighting for.
About Pulp Friction 2014 Laura Harner ~ Lee Brazil ~ Havan Fellows ~ T.A. Webb The Pulp Friction 2014 Collection. Four authors. Four Series. Twenty books. One fiery finale. Spend a year with an eclectic group of strangers brought together through circumstances, as they are tested by life, and emerge as more than friends. Although each series can stand alone, we believe reading the books in the order they are released will increase your enjoyment.
Oh Lee Brazil, this series you are writing between Finn and Cannon has been so gripping. I was so thrilled, to begin this story, with you bringing Cannon from Atlanta, to give the reader a chance to see him in this, a new place. Here at Mountain Shadows, a place in Flagstaff Arizona, Cannon blossoms right in front of our eyes. We watch as he slowly finds himself, a gay man and not the anguished unhappy shadow living a lie in Atlanta with a house, and an unhappy wife and family. We hated the issues between he and Chance and how they couldn’t move past Cannon’s inability to shed his closet. Out West with his snappy clothes, his snappy sports car and his new aura, college professor Finn Lorensson did not have a chance. His meeting Cannon Malloy set each of them up to fall deeply in love and different sets of outside influences brought each of their baggage to the forefront.
Cannon ran from Atlanta with bloodshed and fear following him. He has come to grips with his past and his love for his Prince Charming, Finn. So now what the heck is the problem with Finn? Trading places Cannon becomes the seducer knowing now what the prize is. This story is everything you could ask for, the sexuality, the steamy sex. The final walls falling as each man gives his trust to the other.
The end left me still not quite sure that another shoe was not about to fall…Yes this is book 5 and we still have the grand finale and somehow I worry that some secrets could still come back and bite them. Oy vey Lee……Two more book fives to go; one from Havan Fellows and the final from Tom Webb and then the final finale book. So much can happen….I worry…They are my family now.

Oh, Lee. I'll admit, I doubted you in the beginning. I didn't think you could make me love Cannon when I hadn't been too impressed with him in the Pulp Friction 2013 series. I was so wrong! Write that on your calendar, by the way, because it doesn't happen often. I fell in love with Cannon, almost from the beginning, and I've been rooting for him ever since.
If you're just picking this book up, let me give you a little information, first. Pulp Friction 2014 is a year-long cumulative effort by four authors: Laura Harner, Lee Brazil, Havan Fellows, and T.A. Webb. Each author writes five books, and then they all combine on the grand finale. The stories are intermingled, to a certain degree, but each author puts their stamp on their characters. I highly recommend that these get read in order.
Now, Lee, I was a little disappointed in Finn. Seriously? He's too smart for this. What was he thinking? Or was he? I know, I know. It's the whole knight in shining armor thing. I'm glad that Cannon has gotten so much more confident in himself that he confronted Finn about everything that's been going on. All the stuff that Finn has kept from Cannon regarding Lassiter. Oh, Finn. I'd've made you pay WAY more than Cannon did. You got off lucky, my friend.
I'm happy. And I'm sad. This is my final book with just Cannon and Finn in it. I'm not ready for it all to be over. Thank you, Lee, for these wonderful characters to add to my ever growing list of favorites. Finn and Cannon are, both, firmly entrenched in my heart and mind.
Cold Day in Hell is the final book in Lee Brazil’s In From the Cold series. And Bravo. This one is everything I’d expected from Finn and Cannon. Of all the Mountain Shadows guys, I think Finn and Cannon have had the toughest time connecting from day one, so it was nice to see that even in their darkest hour, Cannon wasn’t giving up. Instead, he was pushing for more. It shows real growth in his character. And Finn, lo and behold, is finally taken down a notch or two in his whole save the world campaign. But I think what I loved most about these guys is the solidity that they’ve formed. Even though Cannon spends most of this story worrying about why Finn is keeping him at a distance, he never worries that Finn doesn’t want him. He knows better. So he gives Finn time until he can’t take anymore then seduces the truth right out of Finn. Way to go, Cannon.
This was a bit of an odd one. Lassiter is back and is being a clingy pain in the ass. Finn, as is his MO, is trying to save him, even though he really doesn't want to. But he can't successfully keep all the different pieces of his life separate much longer. Meanwhile, Cannon is back from Atlanta more determined than ever to be with Finn.
I can tell that this series is wrapping up -- so many threads are coming together. Not all that much happened in this installment, though. But something else was just set up and I need to know where that ends up going. I am so going to be binge reading this series after it is all out!
Buddy Read with Mish and Sandi. We did this last year and figured it would be fun to do it again. Reading the entire Pulp Friction series in the month of February, one installment a day. I'll review at the end.
This was the final book of the In From the Cold series. You do need to read these in order for full understanding. It’s also a part of the Pulp Friction 2014 collection. You don’t have to read the entire collection but you do get a bit more insight into all the characters as they interact in each story if you do.
Cannon has come back from Atlanta and made his decision to move permanently to Mountain Shadows. He is a little shocked at Finn’s reaction. Though Finn says he is glad he came back, he seems distant.
Finn being the knight he is has a problem he has been hiding from Cannon and all his friends at Mountain shadows. Though it’s not going as fast as he had hoped he thinks he will soon have the situation under control and be able to have a real relationship with Cannon.
When Cannon showed up in this book I was completely flabbergasted. If you read the previous Series Chances Are, you would know that Cannon wasn’t very likeable. I won’t say that I grew to love him, but I will say he redeemed himself somewhat. I like seeing the bad person or less likeable characters grow and evolve. And of course Finn is absolutely a dream. This was an interesting and I felt a very satisfying end to this series.
If you like charming, sexy, Nordic men, hot doctors, broken men, exciting and satisfying conclusions and a of course hot and steamy man-sex this is for you!
Cannon Malloy has returned to Mountain Shadows and his frog prince. He finally knows what he wants and where he wants to be. Unfortunately, the dream reunion with Finn is not as he had imagined. Finn is cold to him. A certain student of Finn's might have something to do with his frigid reactions.
After hating Cannon in Pulp Friction 2013, I have come to really care about him in his relationship with the frog prince Finn. Cannon is finally comfortable in his skin. He has found someone to love him for the man he is. This was a sweet, loving ending.
I can't, in good conscience, give this a high rating.
Yes Cannon is back and yes Finn told him what's been bothering him and they are now closer than ever.
BUT! Finn is a college professor. The way the whole Lassiter storyline has been handled is a disaster. Yes, I realize it is fiction and the author's prerogative how the characters are written. I just can't accept the character Finn would have mucked it up so much.
Another HEA for the next couple in PF2014. I must admit though that I find the occasional sudden switches in time and place to be rather disconcerting.
