Sharks — the ocean’s most feared and misunderstood predator. Why do they attack? And what’s going wrong in their ecosystem?

Surfer, spearfisherman and marine scientist Riley Elliott is fast becoming New Zealand’s most popular shark expert. His fascination with sharks began at South Africa’s famous Oceans Research Great White Shark Station, where he overcame his long-held fear of sharks and learned how to safely freedive with them beyond the cage.

Back home in New Zealand, Riley began a PhD in shark biology and soon unravelled some unusual and alarming trends in our ocean ecosystem. Join Riley on his journey to discover what lies beneath the surface.

Sorry to see that no one appears to be reading this book here, because it was great. Riley is a passionate conservationist who helped push a ban on shark finning in New Zealand. Though he's a scientist, he really laid things out in terms that anyone could understand, and talked about his personal experiences with sharks, which I found the most interesting. A life to be envied, for sure!

An inspirational book.
If you have anything to do with sea, anything at all, you need to read this book.
There is so much information.
I have finished this book with a better understanding of sharks, and a deeper respect.

This was a very interesting book about the adventures of Riley Elliots life. He takes us with him through Mexico being stopped at the border and robbed of the little money they had left. he takes us through his university world and shows us his start of the journey with Sharks. He visits South Africa to see Great Whites and free dives with many different sharks. This is very fun to read and i liked it alot.

I've always loved sharks, but this book detailing the life of Riley Elliot and his journey of shark research and conservation only further cemented that love. Riley is a dedicated surfer and has helped build up legislation to conserve the sharks. What a wonderful life!
