She Knows What She Wants. . . Jenna Bryant has always been the free spirit while her twin sister Marcy is the careful planner. Now, she has the sort of life Marcy--and most women--dream a marriage proposal from her steady, reliable attorney boyfriend, Glen. But the house with the white picket fence isn't for Jenna. Instead, she wants the chance to explore the cravings she's never indulged, and when she gets an offer to stay at a friend's brownstone in New York City, she jumps at the opportunity. And She Knows How To Get It Leaving behind her sister and her boyfriend, Jenna is soon reveling in the Manhattan party scene, discovering hidden talents she never knew she possessed. It's Jenna's idea to turn the innocent-looking brownstone into the Eros Hotel, a sexual fantasyland that caters to the deepest yearnings of the men and women willing to pay the price for their anything-goes indulgences. Learning how to satisfy the intimate desires of so many exotic, tantalizing people frees Jenna in a way she never could have predicted. But when Glen pays a visit, Jenna must choose between the business and the life he offers
Hi. I'm Joan Eliabeth Lloyd. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
Pesonal stuff: I was born in 1941 - yes, as of this writing I'm 77. I have a wonderful partner of thirty years named Ed (no, we're not married - for tax reasons) two wonderful daughters, a talented son-in-law and three grandchildren, Sarah and Adam, both out of college and gain-fully employed and Luke, aged 15.
Professional stuff: I wrote my first book, Nice Couples Do, in 1990, because I wanted to share my ideas about sexual communication and sexual freedom. I've written many books (novels and non-fiction) since but stopped writing several years ago.
As you may have gathered, I'm a devoted couch potato. I'm an omnivorous reader, both in my eyes and in my ears.
My present interest is in Battered women. I donate earrings, about 900 pair a month, to shelters all over the country, with the help of attendees at my many workshops. Phew!!!!
I would gave this book 4 stars, but literally the last two pages are so ... stupid, that it ruined the whole thing for me. Plus the relationship between the two twins is not believeable and Glen is just ... Give me a break. But the sex scenes are nice. Very nice. All in all - Club Fantasy is something to read when you are unable of doing anything else or hadn't had "it" for some time. Or both.
This book is basically a porn film in book form. It's a story about a young woman who explores her sexuality through sex work and a business cultivating sexual fantasies. The story and writing were fine and kept me mostly interested, though some of the dialogue and characters felt a little inauthentic. The erotic portions of the book were well done and never felt too cheesy. Definitely steamy and they progressed nicely though the book. 3 stars just because it was all pretty spoon fed and predictable. The ending was predictable but still a nice way to wrap things up. One other note, I felt that this book did a good job of promoting the business of sex work in a safe and woman empowering way. Sure, pretty much every sexual encounter our main character has is enjoyable, but like I said it's erotic fiction and I think it succeeds in what it was meant to be.
3 Platypires for Club Fantasy by Joan Elizabeth Llyod
I picked this book up a while back and only finally got around to reading it. My first thought that it was a tad dated and that is when I realized that it was published in 2004. Therefore there are references to video stores and landline phones but its still readable. I did like the story and the sex scenes but I feel the characters needed more development. There wasn't much keeping me rooted to their stories. I didn't connect with the characters. Overall it was an okay story to read.
This was the first book I read of Joan Elizabeth Lloyd's. I have read Fifty Shades of Gray by E L James. I find Lloyd's much better written!!! They make a woman wet. I loved the twin issues. I loved the way Jenna went to NYC and learned so much about herself. I look forward to reading the book about Marcy writing ...
Portions of the dialogue, particularly at the beginning of the book, seem both forced and contrived. The connection between Jenna and Glen was ultimately not believable. However, the sexy parts were interesting and creative.
Lloyd is defintely one of the most sex positive authors I've read. I'm not sure I agree with all of the opinions expressed in her work, but I'm always in favor of less sexual repression.
A good erotic novel about a woman who leaves her regular life to explore her sexual desires and those of other men by establishing a club where all fantasies come true.
