Sinaloa, Mexico . . . haunting deserts, hot nights, and vampires, who've been there for hundreds of years, watching from the shadows, playing their games, manipulating humans, and surviving at any cost.

Vincent Kuxim, powerful and charismatic, was made vampire by an ambitious leader looking for soldiers to pave his way to the rule of all Mexico. But more than a century later, Vincent's Sire is looking over his shoulder as Vincent closes in for the kill, ready to claim the title Lord of Mexico for himself.

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter, smart, beautiful, and determined to chart her own future. So when the most powerful vampire lord in all of North America enlists her help in tracking down a very old and elusive bloodsucker, Lana sees nothing but opportunity. There's only one catch. The client wants her to take Vincent--a vampire she neither knows nor trusts--along on her hunt. Then again, maybe it's herself she doesn't trust, because Vincent Kuxim is sex walking in a pair of tight black jeans.

Thrown together by circumstance, Vincent and Lana soon find themselves battling an evil they didn't know existed in a fight that makes Vincent all the more determined to destroy his Sire, seize Mexico for himself . . . and keep Lana by his side forever.

I'm in AWE of D.B. Reynolds ability to keep this series engaging and interesting! She writes these brutal and super powerful vampires who make even a squeamish girl like me call for blood and guts! You GET those bad guys, Vincent! You rip them to shreds, you sexy bad boy! *Rowr*

I think this book was one of the strongest in the series. I say it every time I read a Vampires in America story but D.B. Reynolds is writing some of the strongest and hottest paranormal romance around. This book was yet again excellent. Hot sex, strong, kick-butt female MC, smoldering male MC, and an exciting storyline- What more could a girl ask for?!

I liked the intricacy of this book. The plot line was a little more elaborate than in books past and it felt a little longer (which it was, clocking in at over 350 pages). However, though it was a long book, it never felt boring. In fact, the pace was spot on.

I also really loved Vincent as the MC. It took awhile for me to warm to him, but once I did I was TOTALLY team Vincent. He was sexy, engaging, and, most importantly, interesting.

I adore this series and I adore D.B. Reynolds. I can't wait to read the next!

Once again D.B. Reynolds does not disappoint in this latest installment of the Vampires in America series. Vincent was sexy, gritty, and more than a little intriguing. I love that Reynolds creates strong heroines who manage to put the lords through their paces. Lana shares similar characteristics to the other strong women in the series -- a PI, a FBI agent, a bounty hunter ... Reynold's female protagonists are strong but I love that they are real women and not afraid to be so. And Vincent...le sigh... his disposition was reminiscent of Lucas and Rajmund but not a carbon copy of them. Quite the contrary. Vincent is dynamic and flirtatious and beyond all, powerful in his own right. He commands the respect of many. I also enjoyed the manner by which Reynolds allowed him to acquire children. It was sad to read about in one instance, in particular, but compelling! It showed WHY Vincent would be a powerful lord. Not because of his strength alone but because of his compassion, too.

With a letter in hand from Raphael, Lana is sent on a mission to deliver it to a very old vampire. But the catch is that Raphael pretty much mandates her to seek out Vincent so that he can accompany her on her postal delivery mission. But Lena's task isn't as simple as delivering the letter. First they have to find the vampire, but more importantly for her, she has to resist Vincent's subtle and not-so-subtle seduction. Vincent is a potent and virile vampire (lord in the wings) and he knows what he wants...and he wants Lana.

Lana and Vincent encounter one hurdle after another and Vincent discovers how truly evil and depraved his sire Enrique is. For me, I absolutely loathed the vampire. I thought Jabril was bad. Pffft! Jabril has got nothing on Enrique! He caused the suffering of many and deserved the retribution he received at Vincent's had. The plot in Vincent is simple and I love how Reynolds intersected his past and present, all with Lana at his side and his back. She was fierce and protective and had the "I don't need a man to protect me...but he can if he beats me to it" spirit. She got Vincent out of a pretty precarious situation and it was awesome to read. Reynolds is really a master storyteller and has the ability to draw you into the story completely in only a few words.

The battle for the North American lords is far from over. Raphael's subtle machinations have garnered him a full Council of allies -- trusted allies. Now we have to wait until March 2015 for Deception to see how the plot will further unfold. I can't wait!

5 DB Reynolds Did It Again Stars

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter hired by Raphael, the most powerfull vampire lord in America, to find another vampire Xuan Ignacio but is intsructed to seek Vincent Kuxim, a powerful vampire to accompany her in her research for Xuan. When she took the job she was happy to finally have some investigative work to do instead of chasing around criminals. She never expected to find Vincent so irresistable, or to have to battle her way out of situations like kidnappings and shoot outs.

Vincent Kuxim is powerful and he knows it. The only reason he hasn't challenged Enrique, the Mexico Vampire Lord, is because he doesn't want the responsibility that comes with ruling a territory. But as he tours Mexico with Lana in their quest for Xuan he is forced to action when he learns of his Master's depravity and from learning a secret that will have him seeking revenge from Enrique. And amidst their journey he never expected to develop feelings for Lana, the prudish and slightly uptight bounty hunter sent by Raphael. He is a player after all, he isn't a "one-woman" kind of man.

Now this book, this book reminded me why I love this series so much. Vincent and Lana are now my second favorite couple in the series after Cyn and Raphael.

The first thing that made me love the book is that although they are attracted to each other they don't go at it like bunnies from the first moment they meet. Lana doesn't let her vagina rule her life. She waits until she learns what kind of person Vincent really is before giving in. She sees how he can be kind and caring with the people who need it but how he can turn ruthless for those who deserve it. She falls for the person too, not only the body. This more than anything made the book special for me.

I also loved Vincent. He was a player, he liked being a player but once he decided he wanted Lana he didn't look at any other woman. Whether they lasted for a week or a year it didn't matter. I still liked his roguish ways though. The way he teased Lana for being so buttoned up and how although he did make moves on her he never pressured her into anything. In books Alpha males usually don't take no for an answer, they steal a kiss, they do some groping until the heroine, overcome with lust, falls into their beds. Don't get me wrong, I like it. But I like the change of pace once in a while. Not that there wasn't any of that(I mean the guy strutted around her naked half the time) but nothing too much.

I also loved how the less sex scenes gave room for more development in the story. Many things happened in the book and I loved every minute of the action. Both Lana and Vincent were pretty badass and I can only guess at the kind of trouble Cyn and Lana can get into.

A great addition to the series in general.

PS. Many people complain because there aren't any love and devotion vows but I liked the change from the usual.

3 REALLY MEH STARS

There were some moments that had me engaged and smiling but sadly this book didn't engage me in the same way as the other books in the series, I haven't finished with a feeling that sooner or later I will re-read it. I didn't feel Lana and Vincent, especially when it came to the romance between them, it really wasn't there.

well, shit!

and to offer the words of our heroine in this book
"That was it? That was the big secret? Clearly she was missing something."

You think?!

it had all the elements that I usually NEED to satisfy my own hunger for these fangy creatures
BUT this time...
- the latin fang man
- badass heroine/bounty hunter
- the hot, highly anticipated sex
- the "friends to lover" relationshit (yeah, you read it correctly) didn't work for me...especially that didn't work for me cause I didn't feel shit!

they were colleagues, business aquintances, partners...whatever, they might develop a friendly atmosphere between them BUT the "friends to lovers" part was lost to me...
maybe it would be better if they had stuck to the "lust only" part,

oh, I don't know, it just didn't work for me this time...

Shame really, cause there's nothing wrong with a little bit of biting in the hot sweaty nights in Mexico...

5 Huge Vamp Loving Stars!!!

*Sigh* where to start....Vincent. Vincent is very charismatic, he's a charmer, a masterful flirt, very seductive, and definitely a ladies man. He's also very powerful, respected, and loyal to those who are close to him. He is also Lieutenant to Lord of Mexico Enrique, yet stays as far away from him as possible and has very little to do with him as he knows Enrique is loathsome & vile. And soon he learns just how vile Enrique is...

Lana is a Bounty Hunter who has crossed paths with Cyn, so when Raphael has a message to send to a very old vampire in Mexico who has not been seen or heard from for quite sometime, Lana takes the job but there's a catch...she must work with Vincent. Vincent is not sure why Raphael insist that he accompany Lana on this quest but when powerful and respected Lord Raphael suggests something from someone, that request is not to be ignored.

 photo 1336552B-0CBA-44E7-9D54-442F5D9A0991_zps5gbs5mdb.jpeg

D.B. Reynolds once again creates strong sexy characters, a fresh storyline, and gives us a little of our favorite ViA Vampire Raphael along with a despicable bad guy...or rather Vamp you will truly loathe.

I love her strong female leads (PI, FBI Agent, and now a Bounty Hunter), all of her heroines are kick ass but also feminine when the time is right, and her Vampires are just freaking magnificent!!! I won't go into detail about Vincent & Lana's love scene's but I will say.....SIZZLING HOT!!

If you've not read this series, I highly recommended....start it now!! It's sooooo good!!! Looking forward to the next book in the series Deception.

I liked the story but I felt cheated by the ending, it felt like we missed a chapter where the lead couple determined how much they loved each other while actually talking to each other and we don't really know if they are mates yet or what the heroine decided about moving to him or what happened to her job. The last part was from Cyn and Raphael's POV that showed us that Vincent and Lana are together but we definitely were missing details. Before this, the story was pretty decent, not as good as Cyn and Raphael especially romance-wise but the action was pretty good.

Maybe we will get more closure in a future short story? I hope so.

I'm looking at the blank screen in front of me and I feel burning. Nope, it's not Vincent looking at me. It's the hot potato in my hands. Shall I wear my fangirl hat or my NetGalley one? Burn one hand, and then the other one. Sigh.

If I go fan girl, in my mind there are gifs of Brazilian dancers shaking musical instruments and their ...ponpons... so, no, maybe not the best choice... Let's try the other one.

Vincent is the 8th book in one of the nicest PNR series out there. Vampires in America is romance at its best. To me this implies a slow-burning love story that builds along the plot. You end up believing it, no tricks, no shortcuts. Moreover, the plot is never the romance. It's independent or rather codependent from it. You are never bored into tear asking "ok, let's get over it". In other words, the couple is in focus, but it's not the only focus. :)

I wrote simply "romance", rather than fantasy or paranormal romance, because VA is world-building-light. You'll not find a world of its own in here, even if Ms Reynolds has created a rather personal view of vamps along her series. One that has me screaming "more". (This has to be one of few series where I'd love to see more "info-dumps". :)

VA8 is almost a road story, without its pitfalls. Two stranger with a goal in common along a street down Mexico. [Cue sigh.] I loved the heroine that brought me back to my first love here: Cyn. Finally we get a strong woman, able to stand on her own in a man (or shall I say Vamp?) world.

Vincent is more like Lucas than the brooding Raphael or Aden, so a flirting player. And how much fun is seeing them tumble and fall? [insert evil cackle here].

Uhm, reading what I just wrote shows clearly the battle between my two halves, I'm not sure how much sense this review is going to make. Well, know this, I bloody enjoyed reading this book nonstop until 2am. [Ahah, maybe that's the reason I don't really make much sense...]

If I have one nit is .

A the end of the book I had promised myself I would not read the teaser for the next book. But a few hours later I downloaded the book again and read it, of course. How can you resist?

The last great VIA book.
Pity for the shaky world building, I'm reading again all the series and the contradictions are somewhat glaring. Vampires should be invited in a home, but it doesn't happen always. Vampires have a ceremony when there's a minion changing house, but it's not always the case (I'm thinking about Lucifer here).
But I so love these books (up to this, pity for the remaining 2). *grin*

I wanted to give this five stars, but the ending was surprisingly abrupt. And despite my love of Raphael and Cyn, . We never really got the chance to experience Lana and Vincent as a fully cemented couple. But I enjoyed both as characters enough -- and their page-turning romp across Mexico -- to give this four stars, despite the book ending before the emotional money shot, if you'll pardon my rudeness.

Oops, the author seems to have forgotten to include the romance between Lana and Vincent!!! The plot moves forward the idea of the growing coalition of vampire Lords. That is what gets the three stars. There is sex between the H and h, but the most feeling they seem to work up for one another for the majority of the book is grudging admiration. The ending... I really hope the next one has more romance, or I may have to bail on this series...

First, I must confess that Vampires in America is one of my absolute all time favorite vampire series. The world created by D.B Reynolds is as fresh as it is long running. There is an emotional connection each and every book that not all authors can create with such consistency. And let’s be clear - she does it well, people!

Okay, now on with the nitty gritty. Vincent: roguish, egotistical, charismatic and definitely all kinds of alpha vamp. He has just found himself as a strategic move in an ongoing game of power and political movement within his world.

Lana Arnold has been hired to deliver messages: one to Vincent Kuxim, and the other to a vamp that is considered a myth. With the acquired help of Vincent she sets out to finish the job. Only it turns into a horrifying discovery of immoral and unforgivable actions done by current Lord of Mexico. This discovery doesn’t sit well with Vincent, and an unexpected mission ensues to help remedy and deliver punishment on those who dare to abuse power and utterly forgo vampire law.

Action packed and fast paced, Vincent was incredibly hard to put down. The palpable connection and snarky, witty banter between Vincent and Lana gave me the smirky smile throughout. OH! And we get a Cyn and Raphael fix too! A sexy couple, mysteries, secrets revealed, and surprising revelations. What more could you ask for? I loved it.

5 STARS

Vincent harks back to the earlier books of the series; gritty, violent, and more realistic as to how the vampires are portrayed. Plus, Lana is more like Cyn; written as a more kick-ass heroine than shown in recent books. The verbal by-play between Lana and Vincent is fun, and the sexual tension between them steamy. However, Lana is not at all sure she trusts the roguish vampire enough to give into the temptation of a sexual relationship with him, much less anything more than sex.

I loved Vincent, though. He was a violent badass vamp, but not as remote and jaded as many vamps are portrayed. He was only 150 years old; old enough to be extremely powerful, but young enough to still have many human traits. (and he made some humanish mistakes). Also, his lieutenant Michael was a young vampire, and has done a lot to keep Vincent human and with current attitudes. Vincent was still vampire enough to take down the bad guy vamps and humans in a graphic, violent manner.

I truly enjoyed 'Vincent', and the especially the mayhem of the road trip. D.B. Reynolds has outdone herself with this exhilarating story. I hope Michael gets a book someday...

Ugh unfortunately I wasn't a fan of this one. Vincent came across as sleazy to me and Lana maybe just too hard and then by the end no mating or even Ily?? I skimmed a lot but I love this series and I really want to make it to the end because this war thing has got me glued to my Kindle man. This one was a loss unfortunately but moving on.

Favorite Quote: “There is always a price and I’m going to collect.”

Vincent Kumix is a powerful, gorgeous, and charismatic vampire, second in command to the Lord Of Mexico. He has waited centuries to kill his sire, a man who made him against his will, but his revenge will have to wait when a bounty hunter comes to him with a special request. A beautiful woman who needs his help locating someone and who seems to be immune to all his lethal charms.

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter looking to leave the family business and start her own PI firm. When she is contracted by the all-powerful Lord of North America to find a vampire, she knows this may be the chance she’s been waiting for. Smart, beautiful, and intelligent, she knows there will be a possibility of danger though she never expected it to be in the form of a six-foot plus vampire who oozes sex appeal and charms every women he meets. Lana learned her lesson the hard way about mixing business with pleasure and plans on keeping their time together all business.

As Vincent and Lana trade barbs and smoldering glances, their joint investigation brings to light a series of crimes so heinous, Vincent finds himself even more determined to destroy his sire, claim the throne, and keep the luscious Lana by his side forever.

I discovered D.B Reynolds’s Vampires in America series earlier this year and devoured her series with gusto. Such a wonderful change from the usual fare of angsty baggage laden supernatural creatures who just need to find the right “human” to make them forget their self-disgust at their monstrous appetites. Reynolds hits the spot with her arrogant narcissistic alpha males who sit at the top of the food chain and never lets you forget it. She pairs these males with strong, intelligent, kick arse humans who don’t succumb instantly to lust or manipulation. They usually meet and it’s instant dislike but as the sexual tension rises, so does the attraction. Then the real fun begins. *wink*

Dear Vincent Kuxim, you were lovely! *grinning* Just one big bloodthirsty teddy bear, a total softie with our heroine and a beast with all his enemies, and there were many.

You know I rarely read paranormal romance, but D.B. is an author I come back to again and again. She writes such a successful blend of PNR and UF that you end up with a great mix of non-stop action and a scatter of steamy sex in between. Phew!

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter hired by Cynthia Leighton to find an old vampire within Mexico and give him a message from Raphael. The only condition? She has to take Vincent Kuxim, a vampire lieutenant of a current territory lord with her as a partner.

Vincent is quite comfortable living away from his lord and watching over the territory that he personally thinks would be better off under his own rule. When he gets a request from Raphael to help Lana, he can't refuse because Raphael is the North-American vampire lord he wants to keep as his ally when he makes his move for the territory.

Lana intrigues and charms him as this bold, strong woman who would not give in to the attraction between them and who at the same time tries to keep him safe on their journey together.

Lana is a fantastic heroine! She knows she is outclassed by all these powerful vampires around her, and yet because she uses her wit and strength and ruthless practicality over and over again it's her who saves Vincent and does what needs to be done without much hustle. There were plenty of times I cheered for her.

I loved this book, and I loved the clash between Vincent and Lana, the tension building, and the explosive lovemaking that followed. The plot was dynamic with narco barons and vampire intrigues blended together with a bit of Vincent's history among the desolate, desert locations of the country in all its stark beauty.

Much recommended to anyone who loves strong women kicking ass and their vampire partners who can cope with that without trying to treat their females as fragile glass. An excellent read!

My 100th book for 2014!

So Lana and Vincent have done the deny the attraction thing
they've done the flirting thing
they've done the kissing thing
they've done the sleep in the same bed thing
Hell! they've even done the blood sharing thing
So I expect when we get to the actual act of sex that it's going to be mindblowing.
The sparks have been flying between the couple all the way through, so this should be good.

And it was.
I was pleased that Lana and Vincent had a relationship (of sorts) before they fell into bed
together.
They are great together, but are they "together"? what the hell is with the ending?
It didn't end, it just stopped! What?

Anyway, Vincent is yummylicious as are all the VIA vamps, but there's just a bit of compassion, or feeling with Vincent that gives him that extra bit of mmmmmmm. He has a wonderful relationship with Micheal, his number one, right hand man, and only child he has made. They are easy going together, but Micheal never forgets his place.
Lana and Vincent are terrific together, and the fact that they spent so much time together and didn't just fall straight into bed together made their characters even more intriguing for me.
As seems to be the norm with our favorite vamps, Vincent's choice of a woman in his life, is that of a strong, independent woman, who knows what she wants.
There are several twists and surprises to this story, some surprising some not so.
But I have to say, I felt a bit let down with the ending. I certainly wasn't ready for the story to end, but if it means we get to see lots more of Vincent and Lana, to make sure they get their HEA, then I can wait.

Yes!!

This was a great addition to the series, although at the end, you weren't quite sure what Vincent's relationship with Lana was!

I do like the darkness in this series & the people who deserve to die normally do! Good riddance! I hate books that have to rationalize the reasons to keep someone alive! I guess that just makes me sadistic! HA!!

Anyway, the plot was built up nicely & although you could guess at what was coming & who was who etc. it wasn't obvious. Someone else would guess differently.

I didn't really like Lana and Vincent at first. Both of them seemed to be eye roll characters, but when the darker came out (vampire slaves) & it wasn't all schmooze... that's when I changed my mind!! I LOVED it from then on.

GREAT series!! I am so glad I found it!!

Lana's self doubt annoyed me. The assumptions about Vincent and other women and where she fit bugged me. However, there was never any declaration of love from either party - 'and Lana, you aren't my fucking partner' doesn't quite cut it as a romantic sentiment.

Overall this is a fun, road trippy paranormal story, but the chemistry was lacking between Vincent and Lana. The para side was okay but not as unique as some of the others.

I do love this series so I'll be onto the next book. Anything with Raphael and Cyn as the MCs is all good by me.

I was expecting another low, but was very pleasently surprised! :)

Both Vincent, but more so Lana, were excellent!

Where in the last book Sidonie was a completly useless woman, we have here Lana who's really, really excellent! Competent, fearless, intelligent! A perfect companion for a Vampire Lord!

Vincent too was great! A very alpha male without being into BDSM or such stuff! A strait, uber-male alpha! Just how I like my heros!

A truly interesting story which make me want to read the next book like yesterday! LOL

***Received ebook from Belle Books for an honest review

The cover is awesome especially with the tat and the shirtlessness of it all :)

This is the 7th book in the Vampires in America series. It is one of the best Vampire Romance series I have read. D.B. NEVER disappoints when you read her work :) Each book is standalone; however, you are doing yourself a complete disservice if you do not read them all and in order because each part builds your love of the characters and the synergy of the world is epic when you read them all in order.

Lana is amazing and strong woman who refuses to stay behind or stand behind and be protected. I love when a heroine stands up for herself and fights side by side with those she cares about. Vincent is sexy and arrogant, but what vampire isn’t especially the Alpha male that he is. Tons of action and twists and turns as you go along. You are never bored when reading this series.

I highly recommend this entire series to all vampire romance lovers. I love D.B. Reynolds’ series as much as I love Kerrelyn Sparks’ and Lyndsay Sands’ series’. I’m off to read Deception!!!

Vampires in America is one of my most favorite series, I have read and reread them all. Unfortunately Vincent was my least favorite. I never felt any connection to the story. Yes the sex was hot like always but other than that my interest didn't pick up until the very end when Raphael showed up. Still this series is a must read for Vampire Fans and still remains one of my favorites. I can't wait till March 2015 for a new Raphael and Cyn.

So far this is my least favorite of the series. Yes, there was some forward movement to the story. We now have a new Vampire boss in Mexico. However, I never felt a connection between Vincent and Lana. Sure there was sex, however Vincent claiming "and Lana, you're not my fucking partner...." isn't a declaration of love. It's like the whole romance was skimpy....secondary.
