For four years, I’ve been punching and kicking my way through hundreds of unworthy MMA opponents.
For four years, I’ve kept seeing her face. Maddie’s face. My one great love.
After a brutal cage match that sent me to the ER, Maddie took off across the country. Six months pregnant. She left to have my baby as far from me as she could. No more violence, she said. No fighting.
I had to live with it. I had no choice.
But last night I got a phone call from my little girl, asking me to come to her fourth birthday party. Her friends all have daddies, she said. Would I be hers?
Damn right I will.
I decide that when I get to New York, I’m not going to care about Maddie. I’m not going to even look at her.
But I do. And the moment I see her again, I know one thing is true.
This ain’t over.

Ok. I'm calling it. Red Hot Beginnings died on 21-Jan-2016 at 14:19 hours. Fight for Her Vol. 1 was the final wound that killed it off.
Fight for Her Vol. 1 is the first of four volumes in the Fight for Her serial. I realized I couldn't do it while reading about the two selfish ass MCs in Fight for Her Vol. 1. The hero, Parker, is a young MMA fighter who was dating the heroine, Maddie. One day after Parker has a brutal fight that put him in the hospital, Maddie runs off - six months pregnant - because "fighting for money is brutal and dangerous."
What in the ACTUAL FUCK?! Did Maddie wake up that morning to suddenly find out her pacifist boyfriend morphed into an MMA fighter overnight??! No. Maddie met Parker as an MMA fighter. I call shenanigans and selfishness.
So the bitch Maddie runs all the way across the fucking country from LA to NYC and takes Parker's kid. And treat Parker like he's a piece of shit who abandoned Maddie to be a single parent when it's MADDIE who ran the fuck away. Maddie moved in with an aunt so she was cool but the text gives the impression that everything is Parker's fault. Bitch, please. She's lucky she didn't get hit with a custody suite.
That was when I realized I was DONE. Done with Fight for Her Vol. 1 and done with the Red Hot Beginnings anthology. I've not enjoyed myself AT ALL and all of the stories (with the exception of the first book) are all turning out to be part of a serial. I HATE SERIALS.
So. Red Hot Beginnings is a definite FAIL for me. I did not discover any new authors to read.

☆☆☆3.5 Fight For Her Stars☆☆☆
How far will you go for love? How far will you fight for the girl you love? Will you be willing to move and uproot your career and life for her? Is fame worth it or is the woman who owns your heart and soul worth the fight? Well in Fight for Her by JJ Knight it chronicles a young man's decision to fight for the woman he loves. Parker is an upcoming MMA fighter who travels to New York so he can be visit and see his daughter, Lily. After two years being absent in her life, can he reconnect with her and also gain the love and trust back of Maddie. Though this book ends in a bit of cliffy, you will want to know more of Parker and Maddie's story.
Meh. It was the free book of the day and super short. So I read it.
Fight for Her is about Maddie and Parker, a couple that know all about fighting. Parker is an MMA fighter and known as Power Play in that field. He fights because it's all he knows how to do. He also has to fight for his daughter. Maddie, his ex, took Lily away from him following his most devastating loss. Now, years later, Parker is ready to get not only Lily back, but her mother as well.
Maddie is an asshole. There is no other way to say it. The synopsis made me think he gave her reason to run. From what I read, she took his kid away from him and he should have sued her for custody. I don't like this common cliche of the female taking the kid away because she knows what's best and the father doesn't fight for the kid. Parker would have had every right to sue her ass.
It's full of cliches and while the kid is cute, Maddie made it difficult to like. I couldn't relate with her and I wanted Parker to get over her because she didn't deserve him.
I enjoyed the stuff between Parker and the fighters. That's about it.
I knew this was a serial not a complete story, but it never really get going for me.
Parker is an MMA fighter with a four year old daughter he hasn't seen for two years because he lives in California and his daughter lives with his first love in New York. First love bobbed off and left him because she hated the fighting. Following a call from his daughter, Parker decides to visit them in New York for his daughter's birthday. He decides he wants to reconcile with her and try to get his woman to see that fighting isn't all that bad a way to earn a living.
I could have done with more conflict, more anticipation...something, it all seemed to fall into place a little too easily and quickly. This was a very short read. The smut was fine, but my nethers were pretty untroubled by the sex scenes, I've read hotter. Parker was cute with his daughter though, so it's a pity there wasn't more going on as this set up has lots of potential.
This is the first of a four part series and this ends on a cliffhanger, but I'm not excited enough to want to read more.
First time reading anything from this author and it was fun. I'm not sure if it was strictly the writing or because I happen to love the male pov so much. It was only after I started reading this that I realized that this is a series within a series because now I'm a bit intrigued by Cole's story too.
I'm a big fan of second chance love stories, simply because there's hope that the characters can right any past wrongs, they've grown up and matured, they can give and receive love at a more mature level, handle situations maturely... shoot just deal maturely. I like to see growth in characters and that's what these stories show.
I also love reading about daddies and their children and the growing relationship between Parker and Lily was really sweet to read. Maddie and Parker seem to be getting closer and more on track, despite their 4 year separation. I'm kinda curious about whether that conversation happened behind the scenes? Regardless, there's a bit of a cliffy so hopefully there are some answers in book 2.
This was a great story but the ending had me gritting my teeth!
Parker is an MMA fighter and although he loves what he does he loves his daughter and her mother more. For two years he's separated from them, because he lives in California and they live in New York. It's closing in on his daughters fourth birthday and he feels the need to be there. So he sells his car and buys a ticket to New York.
I really loved the writing style of this author, the story flowed well and the characters were well developed. But...that ending Ugh!
This was the first MMA book I've ever read and it won't be the last. I don't have the stomach for violent sports such as this and don't watch them.
I guess Maddie feels the same way. Maddie was Parker's (stage name of Power Play) former girlfriend. They have a child together (Lily) whom Parker hasn't seen since she was two. He lives in California. Maddie and Lily live with Maddie's Aunt Delores in New York City.
While Maddie was pregnant with Lily, Parker was badly injured during a match and he was taken to the hospital. She went to New York while he was laid up and never came back.
Lily is turning four and even though she doesn't remember much about her daddy, she wants him to come to her birthday party. Parker is strapped for cash and can't afford to go but he makes it happen. He spends some real time with his daughter and with Maddie and knows he wants to make his life with them. But Maddie hates his life. He doesn't know anything except fighting.
Maddie is likeable enough but she's understandably hot and cold with Parker. She's angry at times with him and it seems that she downright hates him. He isn't impervious to this. He's well-aware that she's angry but all he wants is a chance to do right by her and their daughter. I felt sorry for him more than once while I read this book.
Parker is trying. He really is. I felt for him because he felt like an outcast on more than one occasion. My heart broke for him. But, in an effort to establish a relationship with his daughter, he keeps going back. He put Lily before himself and that said a lot for him.
Unlike most male protagonists these days, Parker doesn't have a lot of money. He can't afford to hop on a jet and fly back and forth to New York City on a whim. He's struggling financially but he's paying child support every month just like clockwork. No judge had to tell him to do it. He just does it. I like that in any man, fictional or not.
The ups and downs in this book kept me going. I loved the characters and I love the story. But watch out. There's a huge cliffhanger at the end. I was reading along, really getting into what was happening and then BAM! It was over. I thought maybe my Kindle had malfunctioned or that maybe I had a bad download. Nope. I just ran off that cliff without a parachute.
This is the first book in a series so I know reading the second one is in my future.
By the way, I love the cover of this book. It does speak honestly of how Parker was feeling at times. I just thought I'd throw that out there.
I received an ARC for a honest review. Some spoilers.
I honestly didn't know what to fully expect when I first heard about this book. I loved Jo and Colt in Uncaged Love and wanted more of their story. I also loved Parker when we met him. I was excited to see more of Parker's story. Especially when we learned he had a daughter who he hasn't seen for most of her life because she lives on the other side of the country.
When we come to Parker's story in this book we are right away in side his head at a fight. It was a nice change of pace from reading in Jess's and Jo's POV for their books. It was nice having a male POV here. And right away we are drawn in. No matter what is going on with Parker and his life his long lost love Maddie and their daughter Lilly. He has never been able to fully move on and let Maddie go. Right away I was able to connect with him on an emotional level. I could understand where he was coming from and why it was so hard for him to give up his soul mate.
The way the book ended with Parker having a last minute fight and Maddie being there to support him as they have started to rekindle there spark that was out for 4 years. The fight seemed like it would be an easy win and it could have been. But Parker had his mind on Maddie and Lilly since she was there and actually watching him. He got cocky for a minute and lost his upper hand. We leave Parker in this part starting to black out from the blows being handed to him by his opponent. I cant wait for part two and see whats gonna happen with this fight and with Parker, Maddie and Lilly. I can not get enough of that little girl! JJ has done it again with another amazing book!

This was a good start to a short series. I received this advanced copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick read. You can feel the emotion. Some parts seemed a little rushed. I don't know if I missed that these were familiar characters but the MC, Parker, talks about some things like we should know them or what happened. Over all it was well written and I'm excited to see where these characters go. Ends on a bit of a cliffy but with these short serials I wasn't really surprised. Fight scenes are graffic and you can picture them perfectly. Not lacking in the steamy bedroom either. Looking forward to the next one.
I found it a bit slow in the beginning, had a hard time connecting to it.... But after awhile I got more n to it.
Parker seems like a nice guy that's just trying to do the right thing Maddie also seems like a good woman, protective of her hart and her girl. Lilly... such a sweetheart.
I like the the MMA theme, liked the connection between the main characters, I'm sure I'm going to read the rest of the series cause I'm curious about what happens...
It was easy to read although I'm not a big fan of the writing style but that's just me....
I good story which I think will only grow and get better!!!!
Short read. It ends in a cliffhanger. It’s worth just getting the box set and reading it all at once since I looks like the second book starts just as the last one ended.
About the story… I love MMA books. It’s my favorite sport. I loved seeing all the moves explained by Parker and his thoughts. I’ve been dying to see what Maddie thinks of all that and I can’t wait to see it in book 2. It’s an interesting story. First book is fast but makes it interesting for the rest of the series.
I got the ARC version of this book from the author. I first became a fan after reading the Revenge Series and Blueshoes Series. I was thrilled when I got the email letting me know that I could read this for an honest review. I enjoyed the story very much so. As a fan of MMA it was nice to read more about a sport that I actually like. I Loved Parker.I will mention that for a man who has a daughter that he hasn't seen in over two years sure did everything he could to make sure he was able to make it to Lily for her birthday. I know that took a lot of courage to go to where she live with her mom Maddie and Aunt Delores. I felt bad for Parker because of the way that his daughter's Aunt Delores tried to make him feel.I can understand why she was that way. But I mean come on now give the guy a chance. He finally grew up and decided it was time to make things right and do what was best. His daughters mother Maddie... At first I really didn't like her. I thought that she was a bitch and that Parker should just cut his losses with her and concentrate on his daughter Lily. On Lily's birthday he did the sweetest thing for her. And this is where I was starting to not like Maddie more and more. The way she reacted to gift he got Lily was so uncalled for. She didn't want him telling his daughter what he did for a living. Its not like he was a drug dealer. He just does what he knows. At least he makes money and able to send money each month to her to take care of Lily. But as I got to know Maddie I knew why she ran from the get go. It didn't give her rights to do it without saying good bye but once I knew how she felt then I started to think maybe they could work out and have what they need for their sakes and Lily's. Now back to Parker... I hope everything that he wants to happen between proposing to Maddie and getting a home for them to officially become a family happens for him. Everyone deserves a chance and I hope from what I read that it happens considering at the end he promised her she wouldn't have to see something that broke the before she had Lily. I am looking forward to reading the next book and continuing the story.

★★★★★5-second chance stars★★★★★ *Copy provided by the author for an honest review*
.This book is about getting a second chance at love. What if you only get one chance to make things right? What would you do?
Parker a.k.a. Power Play, MMA fighter and thrives for success. Decisions he made from the past haunts him everyday. Knowing that he has a four year old child that he did not get a chance to see after all those years, he's making that his mission to spend all the time with his baby girl. Letting Maddie go was the biggest mistake he's ever done in his life. All he wanted was to have a better life and be with the only girl who owns his heart through and through.
Maddie is one tough chick, I love that about her. Being able to raise her baby girl, Lily, on her own, is admirable. She left Parker because she could not handle what he does for a living. And she regrets it. She will always love Parker, will always have that special place in her heart for him. Doesn't matter how many years have passed, when you love someone, that will never just go away.
Parker comes back to Maddie and Lily's life and he will fight to keep them for good. But this time around, he will have to fight harder that he's ever had. Fighting in the cage is nothing compared to patching the hole that's been there since Maddie left him. The only problem is, how long do they have to keep fighting to finally have the happy life they both deserve with their baby girl? Read it and you won't be disappointed! I love it and I'm glad I have the book 2.
I don't usually enjoy fight stories all that much, so I was a bit leery when I received the ARC of JJ Knight's newest MMA serial, Fight For Her. But I really do enjoy JJ Knight's books. So glad I went against my instincts and decided to give this story a try. Parker (fight named Power Play) and his former girlfriend, Maddie, are well-developed characters who feel real almost from the start. Parker, who lives in California, comes to New York, where Maddie and their 4 year old daughter, Lily, live, for Lily's 4th birthday. He regrets the years that have separated them and kept him from becoming a real parent for Lily and not trying harder to remain with the woman he has never stopped loving, and decides he needs to try to relocate to the east coast in order to remedy these issues. He is attempting to find a way to make this happen, especially after he learns that Maddie still loves him too. When fate steps in and seems to be setting Parker's plans into motion, will everything continue to work for him or knock him out of the ring? It's not looking very good at the "cliffhanger" moment.
I love that JJ Knight decided to tell this story from Parker's POV. The Male POV is too infrequently used in this genre and it's a refreshing change. I also appreciated that the blood and guts aspect of fight stories was not overly explicit, as that's what generally turns me off. I'm really looking forward to the next piece of this series.
Fight For Her is a book about Parker "Power Play" whom we meet in the Revenge Series. Fight For Her could be read as a stand alone, but I read all the other J.J. Knight books beforehand. Four years has gone by and Parker still misses his one true love, Maddie. She left him when she witnessed him in a brutal fight that sent him to the ER and her running across the country 6 months pregnant. Now years have passed and they reconnect. I don't give spoilers away, but I will tell you this...you need to read this book to see how the reunion between the two goes. Find out if someone is standing in their way to find love and happiness again...or is it too late? *YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!*
J.J. Knight's Fight for Her Vol #1 has gotten me addicted once again. In every book J.J. Knight writes she gets you so involved in the book that you can not put the book down. The emotions, actions, and suspense of what is going to happen keep you on the edge of your seat. Then J.J. Knight wraps each book up with a cliffhanger that makes your heart race!!! After reading all of the J.J. Knight books thus far, I can tell you I am a HUGE fan of her, her characters, and her writing style! I highly recommend all of J.J. Knight books hands down. This book is Fantastic!!!!
All Parker has ever known how to do is fight. He has worked hard to get where he is as an MMa fighter. Parker lost the one girl he loved four years ago. After a fight gone wrong he never saw her again and she was pregnant with his child. He has only seen his daughter a few times and he decides he wants to go see her for her fourth birthday and he will do whatever he has to to see her. All Parker wants is to get back everything that he has lost which includes his daughter and her mother Maddie. Maddie has made a life for herself and has raised her daughter alone for four years. Parker makes the trip to New York and works on finding a way to bring his life closer to his daughter and the woman he has always loved. To do this he will have to completely transfer his life to where they live. The question is can he build his life there with them or will history repeat itself? I'm completely in love with this story already. I already love Parker and I just want him to get what he wants. Lily, his daughter is so adorable and totally and completely loves her daddy. All of the characters have strong defined personalities and it just sucks you into their story. I can't wait to find out what happens next in their story. This is the series that you can't miss!!
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
Wow just finish reading this book, and I love it, love the characters, I cant wait to read the second part of this book, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
The story begging with Parker ( A.K.A.) Power Play, his a professional MMA fighter, on the night that he won a fight, he gets a phone call when he sees the number, is a number that he though he wouldn't hear from, but when he answer the call all he heard was the sweet voice of his daughter, he haven't seen her in two years, she ask him to go to her four birthday, now he have to figure a way out to get to New York, he kept telling himself that he wont look at Maddie, but all that changes the moment that he see hers, once they are alone he cant help himself and test the water out, would Maddie hide her feelings for him, will Parker do every thing he could to start his life close to them.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, I love how Parker is with his daughter, and how he is with Maddie, I cant wait to read what would happen next, Author J.J. Knight THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.
Parker, Parker, Parker! I knew this was going to be my downfall but I went ahead and put my big girl panties on read it in one sitting! OMG JJ Knight I wish I can give this 10 stars. The desire for one man to be the father that he knows he can be; to the man that his woman can learn to trust and love again. OUTSTANDING! We've waited quite a bit for Parker's story to arrive and it was worth the wait to see these characters come to life. The steamy bits were awesome and I got teary eyed when Parker was interacting with Lily. Moreover, I could almost feel the emotion pouring out of this man. Will Lily get to know her father? Will Maddie return Parker's love? So many questions, so much ground to cover. This was a great introduction into Power Play's world. I can't wait to see if they can become the family they deserve to be. I need more NOW! JJ Knight congrats, all your hard work and research has truly made Fight for Her my new favorite. (Absolutely Speechless)
If you really like a great MMA fighter story then you should read this series. Starting with Colt & Jo and now Parker. Parker is trying to figure out how he can make ends meet and see his daughter Lily. They live on opposites sides of the states. When he ask Colt for help in getting connections in New York so he can see his daughter more and maybe move to New York, Colt doesn't hesitate. Lily is happy to see her dad but Maddie is not sure. She will fight her feelings for Parker but can she keep up the fight? Parker realizes that he still loves Maddie and wants both Maddie and Lily in his life. I love Parker and I was crying and laughing with him. And no one does a cliffhanger better than JJ Knight. Yes it is a big one, so I can't wait for book 2. **Copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review**
This book is about Parker AKA Power Punch, remember him in Uncaged Love, and Maddie the love of his life who ran out on him during a bad MMA fight that had put him in the hospital. She couldn’t handle his life still, her being 6 months pregnant at the time. Parker still loves Maddie although she is in New York and he lives and fights in LA training at Busters gym with Colt and Jo, characters from Uncaged Love series; he makes the effort to go see Maddie and his daughter Lily for her fourth birthday. Of course there is lots of action in every sense of the word and a cliff-hanger to keep you riveted. The emotions that JJ Knight gives the characters are spellbinding bringing them to life and that it is written with Parkers POV is a great twist, looking forward to the next book... Thank you for the gift in return for an honest review.
I LOVE PARKER!!!! There aren't many like him out there. The beginning gives us a glimpse of Jo and Colt as well as the remorse Parker feels for what he did to Jo and Colt. We didn't know about his daughter in Uncaged Love. I am not happy with Lily's mother Maddie. She left Parker after one of his fights while he was in the hospital and she was pregnant at the time. I understand why she did it but the way she went about it was wrong.
Now Parker has decided to make the move from L.A. To New York. Maddie seems to not know what she wants until Parker sets her blood to boiling in the bedroom. She may be coming around but I am not sure because the Queen of the cliffhanger strikes again. We will have to see what happens after Parker's first fight in New York.
I am in a bit of a book meh stage at the moment and that usually means that I don't have the wear with all to read anything that takes a whole lot of effort or brain power. I don't want to spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out what is going on or wondering what the story is more than twenty pages in.
I just want something easy and uncomplicated or else super good- sucks me in straight away. I read the sample of Fight for Her and this one fit the bill... initially.
It was only 18 chapters long and a really quick read but I have to say that by the end I had made up my mind that I was not going to read anymore. The story was fine but it was simple almost too much so and I wanted more. I did enjoy the romance but not the fighting and I feel like the fighting was where the fighting was heading rather than the romance (which seemed to be pretty much a given).
A new spin off from the Uncaged Loved series starring Parker, Power House. But more is on the line that just a MMA match, it's a fight for love. Parker's daughter, Lily, and her mother, Maddie who live in New York with him in California. Four years has gone by since his little girl was born, and two years since he saw her. It's time to grow up and be a Dad. I love the interaction with Parker and Maddie, they still have their chemistry and lust if not love. Parker is so sweet with Lily and she wants a Daddy in her life. A last minute chance at a matchup is too good to pass up. But will Parker survive this match and have a chance with Maddie? Once again, we are left with the famous JJ Knight Cliffhanger! I can't wait to see where this goes? Black out? Injury? Parker and Maddie?
Fight For Her is Parker's story who we met in The Uncaged Love series. I'm so glad Parker is getting his own story. We find out that Parker has a daughter from his ex girlfriend Maddie, who saw Parker get the worst beating ever. After that fight, Maddie can't stand the life Parker has. So she leaves, and raises their daughter Lily on her own with a crabby aunt Delores. Parker realizes that he cannot live without his daughter, and decides to make some. Changes in his life. JJ Knight starts this series off with a knockout punch! Parker is HOT for one, and you truly get the feeling of how Parker cannot live without Lily, and also Maddie. We are left with a classic JJ Knight cliffhanger, which I've grown to love. I cannot wait to continue this series, because it truly is a winner!!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. And yet again JJ has done it for me. I honestly didn't think I would love any couple as much as Jo and Colt but I honestly can't get enough! I am SO looking forward to more of this series and the ups and downs with Parker and Maddie. As always, JJ writes a fabulous book where you can easily connect with the characters and feel like you are part of the story. I'm sure in JJ fashion there will be lots of twists and turns along the way but I am definitely coming along for the ride! Thanks for another amazing read! Now go....write faster!!!
This is the first book in a new series and is about MMA fighter Parker AKA Power Play and Maddie, the girl Parker has loved for years but she left him because she can't stand what he does for a living. They have a daughter whom Parker loves with all his heart, but she lives in New York and he lives in L.A..Parker is trying to move to the New York to be with them. This book is on the go from the beginning till the huge cliffhanger at the end. Parker is a character from the series Uncaged which we meet Colt and Jo and yes they do make an appearance in this series as well. This a four part series and I can't wait for the rest.
HOLY POWER PLAY!!!!!!!! JJ my Cliffhanger Queen. Parker AKA Power Play, MMA fighter is finally on the right track to get his woman back and be with his daughter. She left him because he was badly injured in a fight. She couldn't take it. Now when things are looking up, it looks like she may do it again. Holy Schiznet Please bring me part 2. Parker is dealing with a lot. He is still living with what happened to Colt and Jo in Uncaged Love, wants to be with his daughter, and the only woman he has ever loved. Can he get it all back? Only JJ Kight knows at this point. LOL. I love her books, but Holy Cow can she leave you on the edge of your seat.
