How can you not love a book about Ueck? The pictures are phenomenal and the stories are good, but SO repetitive. His last broadcast transcript still stings with that loss to the Mets. What an incredible man…we sure miss you, Bob! You were the best!

This is a nice, albeit short (144 pages) tribute to the great Bob Uecker who died at the age of 90 this past January.

Printed on high-gloss paper, the coffee-table size book features countless photos and reproductions of apparently every newspaper article printed about him in the Milwaukee newspaper.

Uecker - whose major league baseball career lasted just 6 years (with a lifetime batting average of .200 - he wasn't what you would call a superstar) made a career out of poking fun at his own career, becoming a professional comedian, but more importantly, the radio voice of the Milwaukee Brewers for over 40 years and a Hall-Of-Fame announcer. Oh yeah, he also took time to star in the television show "Mr. Belvedere" for a few years. And who can forget the Miller Lite beer commercials?

If you've read Uecker's book "Catcher In The Wry" you know he never took himself too seriously, but enjoyed playing baseball and when his career ended and he became the voice of the Brewers, you know there was and always will be just one Bob Uecker and he will be missed, and not just by fans of the Brewers but by everyone who ever heard him, be it on radio, or on one of his 100 appearances on "The Tonight Show" or even in the Miller Lite commercials ("must be in the front row!").

This is a loving tribute to someone who will never be forgotten by those of us who enjoyed him in whatever capacity. Definitely for the baseball fan, but others will enjoy it as well.

At one time, you could make the argument that Al McGuire was Wisconsin, but since then, there can be no dispute that Bob Uecker is Wisconsin. I sorely miss him every day, and I doubt that I am the only one. He was a part of our life for decades. He is probably the most beloved Wisconsin figure ever.
