Chad Stinson is fat. When a series of unflattering pictures at his 49th birthday party burn that fact into his brain, he decides to do something about it. Turning to Amazon, he orders an Azuul ExerTracker, hoping to find the discipline he lacks. He finds it. His life will never be the same. Chad Stinson Goes for a Walk is a short, macabre tale of obsession and possession, perfect for a quick lunchtime read. This story is also available as part of Shawn Inmon's collection of short fiction, "Life is Short."
Usually this is not my cup of tea however I like reading these kinds of stories durning the Halloween season ! And this little story was perfect for it!
This short story reminds me of the Kugelmass Episode by Woody Allen but where the main Woody Allen character is possessed by the verb tener (to have, in Spanish), this main character is literally possessed by his watch. It's true that when we exercise excessively that people say we have been bitten by the bug. It's a fun twist on that concept for a fitness tracker to feed on you, in a way. I really enjoyed reading this story!
If you’ve joined the crowd of people who count your steps with one of the “fitness trackers” available today or know anyone who owns one, this story will strike home. (I felt like the protagonist was a kindred spirit, at least at first.) It’s a fun story of inspiration and motivation gone awry.

Chad just wants to lose some weight, and he does thanks to his new fitness tracker, but getting his steps in starts to become an obsession. His wife is happy about Chad's fitness journey at first, then she becomes more and more concerned. Turns out, there's good reason for concern, and the story reaches a pretty scary conclusion.
Short, sweet little read about what pretty much really happens when you strap on a fit bit or start counting steps by any other means. It's impossible NOT to become totally obsessed. But now we know why...
This one weird story that I could not put down. Steven King, The Twilight Zone have a new competitor for horror. Don’t read this before bed time. I’m taking my watch off tonight.
Very well written short story. This definitely has a style and dark short story theme parallel with in quality Stephen King would write. Highly recommend this read.
A quick read for short story in the form of a Halloween tale. Definitely makes you wana look at technology in a new light. Loved it. Keep up the great work!
I knew those things were trouble ! A great story (or is it a story ? Maybe it’s not fiction ….) I love the way Shawns books pull you right into his world.
A great read, quick and fun. Chad decides to lose weight, so he buys a fitness tracker. He loses weight, indeed, but things don’t go as planned. At only 30 pages, this story is a quick read.
Well done. The story was creepy , and while not real, seems like something that could happen, especially in this technologically, diet obsessed society.
A very good and very simple short story. I picked it up free, just in time for some light Halloween reading, and was pleasantly surprised. It took a little time to set up the story, but overall it was well paced, with well written characters. And, like most good short horror stories, it had a terrifying conclusion.
A creepy short story. Chad Stinson is searching for a weight loss solution that will work. After receiving an Amazon gift card he finds the Azuul ExerTracker a wristband with many positive reviews. He orders the product and is very pleased with how fast he gets results. But what happens when the ExerTracker starts taking over his life? A well written story with a surprise ending.
Pretty good, though I'm not really a fan of short stories most of the time. I felt like this twisted and turned a decent amount for how short it was, but I would have loved more detail/length.
