Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.
Raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Violetta Rand spent her childhood reading, writing, and playing soccer. After meeting her husband in New England, they moved to Alaska where she studied environmental science. Violetta spent a decade working as a scientist before quitting her day job to pursue her dream as a full time writer.
Violetta still lives in Anchorage, Alaska, and spends her days writing evocative contemporary and historical romance. When she’s not reading, writing, or editing, she enjoys time with her husband, pets, and friends.
We first met Marisela in the first book of the Devil's Den series when she was trying to get out of her parent's control and having to be the "perfect" daughter. Now we are introduced to a all new Marisela, a leather wearing, Ducati driving, wild girl on the run from her ex boyfriend. She comes back into town hoping to get a job at the strip club where her sister worked and to start making her own way of life.
Craig Hanson, now head of security at Devil's Den was having some trouble when his crushes little sister comes riding in, completely different from how he remembers her, and tries to help him-putting herself in danger. Craig's protective side wants to hide her away and protect her from the world, but he also wants to hide her away so he can have her all for himself.
After being through hell with her ex Marisela has trust issues, especially when it comes to men. She's drawn to Craig though and realizes that the crush she had on him from before never went away. Criag, though, tries to stay away from Marisela, concerned about their age difference. However, fate has other plans and these two have no chance of resisting each other.
I really liked this book and was drawn into Craig and Marisela's story from the first page. It was a sexy read, full of that playboy type guy trying to resist the good girl gone bad. The only problem I had was that I felt the ending was a little rushed and there were some issues that weren't resolved. Overall, this is a great read and I can't wait to see what Violetta Rand has in store for us next.

The second book in the Devil’s Den series features Marisela, Robyn’s sister. Marisela is nineteen and determined to live life on her own terms, even if they're dumb ones. Craig has been attracted to Marisela since she was seventeen and well, he's a bit of a manwhore. But he's in love with her. There's alot of drama and in the midst of that, romance happens.
The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between
The WTF-ery is strong in this book: I read the first book in the series and I really struggled with the sheer melodrama in it, but I decided to give it another shot because there were some moments where I didn’t want to punch the heroine in the face. This book inspires alot of the same feels but possibly worse.
I was distracted with some of the crude language (in no way, shape or form do I ever get excited at vaginas referenced as snatch) and the casual misogyny needed to make the villain in this case completely unredeemable and disgusting. There is no logic to be found in Marisela’s actions and so much of the stupid decisions made felt as if they were strictly for the sake of dramatic tension. The OTT of it all still reminds me of a telenovela. A really crazy, dumb one. Even with all of this, I have to give it an extra half-star since I kept on reading. It was like a car-wreck happening in front of me. It’s not good, but I can’t look away.
Marisela is truly TSTL: The choices she made that put herself and those she loved in danger for the sake of pride and independence boggled my mind. She certainly suffered and for those with sexual abuse/rape triggers, I wouldn’t recommend this. That said, she was so immature and frankly, dumb for most of it that I really had a hard time getting through the book.
Craig is not that far behind in the dum-dum sweepstakes: Craig was slightly slimy in the first book and here, he’s not as bad but his fascination with Marisela was really sexually based. He was just as impulsive and immature as she is and it was all in the service of the drama.
The Bottom Line (1.5 stars) I can't recommend it, but I gave it an extra star because I actually finished it. It’s insane and melodramatic and way too many TSTL moments for me to connect with the heroine or hero, really. However, if OTT drama is your cup of tea, you may enjoy this.

4 stars!
The second book in the Devil's Den Series...and I quickly becoming a huge fan (love the writing style)! We've met both characters in the first book. Marisela Gonzalez, is the little sister of Robyn. She's back in town, with trouble riding on her heels. She's leather, riding her Ducati, very young, and scarred from her guy she's running from. She's trying desperately to move out of Robyn's shadow, and be her own woman. Marisela has had a crush on "asshole Craig" since she met him via her sister. Will she forever be in Robyn's shadow? Craig Hanson, a former cop, now head of security at the Devil's Den...and well-known for his sleeping around. He had the hots for Robyn, and when Marisela comes riding in, he can see the resemblance. He now has it bad for Marisela, but is hesitant because of Robyn, but also her age. Marisela is running; she had an abusive boyfriend, and walked away from everything for him..but now from him. She's back in Corpus, trying to pick up the pieces, but trouble seems to follow her. As she and Craig deal with their attraction, she's trying to also hide her past from family and friends. I struggled with the fact that Marisela was coming from a very abusive relationship, and Craig is very dominant. Some parts, I wonder if she was really better off with Craig in her life. In saying that, I couldn't put the book down! I really liked the ending..Craig is wrapped around her finger!
Oh Marisela's friend Macey sure doesn't hold her opinions back, "you mean he finally got over Robyn because Garrick nearly kicked his a**?" Macey throws me a look. "And he targets you because you're the next best thing?" Craig he has no qualms stating how he feels, "don't lie, Marisela. You win. I'm jealous as hell. I can't handle seeing you with another guy." Sometimes Craig needs his woman to set him straight: "Our sex is fantastic, Craig, but we haven't even gone on a real date yet." She's right. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm a selfish a**hole sometimes. Every man is entitled to make one mistake, right?" Marisela knows how to make her man's motor run and she doesn't have to be in the same room as him, "I miss you already," she whispers. "I want you inside me." I bite my fist; my d*** goes rod hard." I loved this book, I loved Craig and his protectiveness, horniness, and passion he had for Marisela.
When I first picked up this book, I didn't even made the connection with the first book in the series "Surrender". It's probably because I didn't read the blurb a second time or just because I can be clumsy sometimes. It's only when I saw the same places and characters that I finally knew I was reading Robyn's sister's story. She was the girl who got everything from her parents who considered her perfect when she was in fact attracting trouble just like her big sister but in a different way. She dropped college and bought a motorcycle. After a few months without giving any news to her family she goes back to the Devil's den to get a job as a stripper. Robyn isn't thrilled at all of her decision but let her take her own decisions anyway. Marisela also had a crush on "asshole" Craig, one of the bouncer who fell in love with Robyn... I had some issues to like him considering he was a manwhore and got the little sister since he couldn't have the other. It was a little too much 'insta love' for my taste and I didn't really liked the drama with the ex boyfriend. However, the sexual tension was there and that was a good thing. It was an OK read and I enjoyed reading it.
***I received this ARC through NetGalley in exchange of an honest review.***
I jumped right into this book after reading book one. I was excited to read about Marisela & Craig.
In book one Craig might have been portrayed as a jerk but I had a feeling that he was just a sweet guy deep down on the inside. Yes he's a player but why do we need to hate on that? Marisela was a completely different character in this book from book one. She's trying really hard to a lot like her sister. Some points I felt that she took this role so literally that it made her bitch. But a lot has happened to her to make her act this way.
The Story was steamy, filled with angst and was written well. However sometimes I did feel that some aspect of the book were a repeat from book one.
I recommend it to anyone that loves a good romance read with an alpha male. the story is great and interesting. I also look forward to the next book but I have a question for the author. Why do I see no Wesley for book three? :(
~~I was given an ARC from the publisher via netgalley for an honest review.~~
ARC from Netgalley This was a bit gritty with some characters and situations that were tough to read. Our gal is leaving Austin and returning home after an abusive boyfriend. I like how the author doesn't go overboard on details but gives us enough of the horror initially of Esteban's treatment of her. I really wished she hadn't kept any contact with him but abusive Esteban continues manipulation by horrible threats to our gal. There is a lot of characters and lots of hot scenes that match the relationship development. I think you'll like this read.
I devoured this in one sitting. Craig and Marisela are H.O.T. hot! She's the perfect blend of devil and angel and he's so possessive and alpha I wanted to hug him and smack him at the same time. It was a great read with soft tender moments. I loved the Devil's Den and all the characters. I'm completely hooked on the series and am looking forward to Surrender and Sin.
I could not put this book down! I was completely entranced by Craig and Marisela's story. The sex was hot- I loved the supporting characters (except Estevan)-the plot kept me guessing. I love happy endings and am so glad Craig got his life straightened out and Marisela allowed him into hers. I would love to read another installment of their story-including Robyn and Garrick!
Marisela and Craig get hot and heavy pretty fast and it's a wicked treat to see it unravel. Marisela's past is painful and Craig was previously in love with someone else. At least he thought he was. I really enjoyed this story and I'm definitely anxious for more.
My star rating for SEDUCTION is: 4 out of 5 stars! :)
My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading an ARC Copy of ‘SEDUCTION’(via: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.com):
This is my review after reading the second novel titled Seduction of the Devil’s Den Series. This novel is of the Adult and Contemporary Romance genre and definitely shows it’s Erotica genre side as well. The story is written in the two main character’s P.O.V.’s(point of views): Marisela Gonzalez and Craig Hanson.
In Seduction we get to know Robyn’s (main character of Surrender) younger and troubled sister Marisela Gonzalez, who we met in “Surrender”. Her older sister Robyn had been making it by stripping at The Devil’s Den and has always tried to keep in touch with Marisela after leaving home. Marisela’s life had direction and a plan, attend Baylor and live a good life. But that didn’t pan out as planned. When Marisela rides over to see her sister after six months of no contact, she finds herself running from a dangerous past that may soon find her again.
Craig Hanson is a former cop who now works as head of security at The Devil’s Den. He is finally starting to get over his feeling for Robyn who has really moved on in more ways than one with Garrick. After a dramatic run-in with Marisela, Craig has no idea why Robyn’s once sweet little sister now seems much more edgy, jumpy and secretive. When he begins to get Marisela to trust him, he begins to discover small details behind what she’s hiding. To top it off, not only does he want to protect her in every way he can but it’s hard to resist their mutual attraction. Robyn has the same questions about what has happened to her little sister who has been distant from her and the rest of their family for months.
Marisela had to get away from Austin. She had to get away from her ex-boyfriend Estevan Beltran and the memories of being with him. When her past decides to lurk around the corner, she must fight past it. When Marisela’s ex is determined to get to her, will she be safe? Will Marisela find safety, protection and so much more in an unlikely friend? What are the secrets that Marisela is trying hard to hide from everyone?
Seduction is definitely a captivating and steamy read. There are many dark points in the storyline that touch on emotional topics that have to do with what Marisela ran away from. The attraction and growing connection between Marisela and Craig is hot and comes across as fiercely strong but jealousy and insecurities cause them issues. Craig definitely has his alpha-male personality and Marisela is a mix of naive, stubborn and at times strong. This was an enjoyable read and I’m very excited to see what more is to come with the Devil’s Den Series. Next is SIN, which is Macey’s story. I will be reviewing that one soon. Definitely pick up your copy of this novel and check out this entertaining series!
My star rating for SEDUCTION is: 4 out of 5 stars. :)
Visit my Blog and see Memorable quotes and character photos of how I imagined them while reading SEDUCTION.
Seduction is a not a novella but it is a short read that is filled with suspense, lies, drama, really hot sex, stubborn female characters and an alpha bad ass male. The author tells the story in alternate POV’s and holds no punches with the story line. This story deals with physical abuse, touches on rape, deals with survival and the need for self-forgiveness. We met Craig and Marisela in the first book. Craig is a bouncer at the Devils Den and Marisela is Robyn’s little sister. This is their story and let me tell you it is one heck of a ride.
Craig’s character was hard for me to really love. After reading the first book, I was not sure how the author could make me love him after knowing his character was a womanizer. I am pleased to say, the author did an amazing job redeeming his character. I totally fell in love with him. He is no Garrick but he came in at a close 2nd. Craig makes no excuses for the kind of man he is or the women he has in and out of his life. When he sees Marisela again, she gets under his skin. Craig can tell something is going on with Marisela. He can tell by her eyes and her actions that she is hiding and running from something. He agrees so keep an eye on Marisela when she gets a job at the Devil’s Den but he wasn’t prepared to fall in love with her. He wants more from her if only his past conquests would stay away.
Marisela’s characters at times was immature and thoughtless of others. She is running from a dangerous past and she is not honest when she shows up on her sister’s door step. She does not tell them the truth and keeps her real reasons a secret. She wants to work at Devil’s Den to make her own money. When she starts a Devils Den she sees Craig and despite the past he shared with her sister, she is attracted to him. What starts as something innocent soon turns into something more. Just when things are going well, her past comes knocking at her door. Marisela is not completely honest with Craig about her relationship with her ex-boyfriend. When she begins to open to Craig, she finds out that he wants more from her than just sex. He does not see her as damaged but someone that is strong. He is willing to go to the ends of the earth to keep her with him and keep her safe.
Marisela’s ex is determined to get her back at all costs. He is dangerous, sneaky and fears nothing. Marisela and Craig try to find a way to make their relationship work while trying to keep her and those she loves safe. Marisela’s ex tries to break Craig and Marisela apart. Things go from steamy to dangerous quickly for the pair. This book was well written and the development and growth of both characters was really well done. We get see how Garrick, Robyn and crazy Macey are all doing. Secrets are revealed, trust and loyalties will be tested but will Craig and Marisela make it out alive? Will Craig finally keep the woman he loves by his side? Will Marisela trust Craig and her family enough to tell them the truth about her past? This is a beautiful journey you don’t want to miss out on.
I was interested in Seduction after I first read the synopsis for the story. I actually thought the story would be intriguing and enjoyable. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Marisela and Craig were painfully awkward as a couple. They barely seemed to like or tolerate each other beyond the physical aspect of their relationship. Marisela was wholly unlikeable for me. I felt for her, as a woman, because of her dealings with her ex, but her personality was a tough pill to swallow. I felt that she brusque, petty, and caustic. Craig has his moments as well. He was too boorish and demanding and exercised a wee too much chest pounding for my tastes, and that's saying something because I love alpha men. However, I did like him more than Marisela because he had moments of gentle sweetness that peeked in throughout the story. The story layout also made the story very difficult to read. The POV shifts occurred quite frequently but there was no indication -- chapter header or section header -- that identified the shift. I think there might have been one extra paragraph break between the shift but I think it would have been much better, at least as far as flow, had the author identified what POV you were reading. I often had to stop to get my bearings because the shifts happened that quickly. I did not hate the story but I also did not enjoy it and just really wanted it to be over after I was three quarters of the way into it.
Also, I found the resolution with the ex to be totally bland. He was a major element in the story, and greatly impacted Marisela's after personality. His comeuppance was virtually nil. I expected more impact and drama for it but it was unsatisfyingly anticlimactic.
I am not saying that this is a fault of the author...it just means that this story was not my cuppa.
P.S. The more than once use of "snatch" during sexy times was not sexy at all.
" Seduction" , is the second book in the Devil's Den Series but never fear it can be read as a stand alone, but be warned once you pick this book up the pages and time fly by!
Nineteen year old Marisela Gonzalez has come home from college, trying to escape the troubles that has plagued her while away. Craig Hansen an x cop and head bouncer at the Devils Den is floored to discover that the hot chick on the Ducati in leather who threw herself in to his fight with the Banditos is Marisela , Robyns little sister ; and his instincts to protect her are immediate but more bothersome is his overwhelming attraction to her. Craig's a player, he goes from one women to the next but something about Marisela draws him makes him want to be a better man , so when her x- boyfreind Estevan keeps stalking her and threatening her Craig becomes even more of an Alpha . Marisela has had a crush on Craig for over a year and to spite his reputation she cannot resist him. These two get hot ,heavy and steamy and the sex is off the charts . Craig wants more time with her; but the x boyfreind continues to cause trouble, secrets kept lead to danger and Marisela is skittish given how abusve her previous relationship was with her Ex. Through it all though, even when Marisela tries pushing him away Craig is there for her . Craig behind Marisela's back s working on making sure her ex , Estevan, gets what is coming to him and leaves her alone( personally the best part) .
Okay, so I have kept my description short, but the story is hot and intense and well worth the read.

This is the kind of story that when you have to put it down for whatever reason you can’t stop thinking about it and you’re rushing to get back to it because you need to know what happens next.
Rand gives an indepth look at a side of life many of us never see or experience. She does so in a captivating manner with an unforgettable story. I love this author’s writing style. She brings this world to life in such a vividly real manner that you don’t simply read it, you experience it. This novel left me with tears in my eyes at the end. They were happy tears, but having seen what the characters endured throughout…
The dual perspectives in the first person gives the reader lots of insight into both of the main characters. I loved the changes in Craig since the 1st novel in the series. He’s grown into a fantastic individual with still a hind of the bad-boy-player we know him as. I love how Rand portrays dancers (and other club employees) as real people who work their jobs for a myriad of reasons, rather than as second class citizens.
This was a hard hitting, insightful story that is also exciting & hot. Rand kept me hooked throughout this one. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others, and will definitely be reading it again (many times) in the future.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
I will start by reminding that this is the second book in the Devil's Den Series. It stands well on it's own but if you can read the first book so you understand the back stories.
In this installment Ms. Rand brings us Marisela and Craig's story. Marisela is a 19 year old running from trouble when she shows up at the Devil's Den one night. The Den is the strip club where her sister worked. She rides in on her motorcycle and walks into the middle of a fight between a patron and a club bouncer. She helps the bouncer out by breaking a beer bottle over the patron's head. Enter the man that Marisela has had the hots for since first meeting him. She is back in town and has a ton of secrets. No one in her family has heard from her in months.
Craig, is the bouncer. He was a cop. He thought he was in love with Marisela's sister. (Back story) Is Craig the one that can rock her world, protect her from her bat ass crazy ex, and break through the walls that she has built to protect her little bad self? Tune in to find out!
I found the character's well rounded and the ones you like you love, the ones you hate you want to castrate! I look forward to reading more by Ms. Rand she tells a wonderful story, full of hot sex, humor and just enough adventure to keep you interested through the whole book!
This was a great second novel of the Devil's Den Series. Robyn's little sister Marisela has returned and so much has changed with her. She's also carrying some really heavy and dark secrets that seem hard to escape. Craig has always been a womanizing alpha-male but something about Marisela sparks an attraction to her that he is finding to be too hard and strong to ignore. When the secrets Marisela tried to run away from come to town, no one is safe from the threat. Seduction is a fascinating and intense novel about rebuilding yourself and your life after dealing with being broken. You should definitely check this one out and this awesome series.
My full blogging review can be found at: BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.com
Seduction was just as good as Surrender if not better! I loved reading about Marisela (Robyn's sister from Surrender) and Craig's road to happily ever after! I was not sure if I was going to like this book after the way Craig came across as a complete, pushy, arrogant jerk in Surrender, but I am so glad I gave him a chance because he turned out to be a really caring alpha male who just needed the right woman to put him in place and make him want to settle down! I will definitely be reading Violetta's other novels! Thank you so much Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for providing me with an ARC via NetGalley for my honest opinion!
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Marisela was always the good girl of the dynamic duo that is Marisela and Robyn Gonzalez. While Robyn was kicked out an early age, Marisela was groomed by their conservative parents with the expectation that she would be pursuing a medical degree at Baylor. So when hurricane Marisela blows into Corpus Christi, riding a Ducati, sporting multiple piercings and tattoos, and looking for a job at the Devil’s Den, it’s apparent that the shit has hit the fan.
Craig Hanson, the lead of security at Devil’s Den, is a serial manwhore. There isn’t a dancer he hasn’t bedded, including Marisela’s older sister when she herself was a dancer at the Den. When Craig lays eyes on Marisela, now a very different girl from the one he met a year and a half ago at the tender age of seventeen, he immediately begins pursuing her. But once he’s had her in his bed once, he realizes that just once isn’t going to be enough. He is still hung up on Robyn even though she is now married to the man of her dreams, but Marisela just might be the answer to getting over Robyn, once and for all.
It’s obvious Marisela is running from something or someone; something that has kept her away from her family and out of touch with her sister for over six months, even missing Robyn’s wedding to Garrick. But Marisela isn’t so quick to give up her secrets and when her jealous, homicidal, well-connected ex shows up looking to claim what he thinks is rightfully his, it’s not only Marisela’s life that is in danger. Not wanting to risk the lives of those she loves the most, she’s willing to sacrifice her own happiness in order to keep them safe. Craig has finally found “the one”, is he ready to let her give up the opportunity for a future together? Especially when this whole commitment thing is a brand new concept for him?
Seduction is HOT! The heat and passion between Craig and Marisela is palpable. More importantly though, is the transformation that Craig makes from the first book to the second. Affectionately (?) named “Asshole Craig” by both of the Gonzalez sisters, he has to work overtime to shed the reputation that he’s managed to build over the last few years. But what at first glance looks like a guy being a misogynistic pig looking for no strings sex, turns out to be a guy that has secrets of his own using the only coping mechanism he knows he can count on. While the book is definitely erotic, the romance between the two is sweet, as we see two broken characters find the happiness they both so greatly deserve.
While Seduction is the second book in the series each book can be read as a standalone. I highly suggest you check out the first book, Surrender, as it will give you an even greater to the connection to the characters in subsequent books. I know that meeting the naïve yet rebellious Marisela in the first book made her story that much more intriguing in Seduction. While some of the events are slightly predictable, the characters make it a great read. The relationships from past and present are woven throughout the series and Rand has set herself up nicely for the next installment of the series, Sin, which will feature Macey, also a dancer at the Den and Robyn’s best friend. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how much further Rand can turn up the heat!
I’ve enjoyed this series so far. This can be read as a standalone, however reading Surrender first, will help you understand the characters better. I always appreciate catching up with characters in a connected series such as this. We met Maricela in Surrender when she was almost seventeen. Now, she is nineteen and her life has been completely derailed. She was the picture perfect daughter, but once she left home and went to college, she searched to break out of that mold and it came back to bite her. She was dating the hot jock that everybody wanted. When he turned on her, she didn’t have the strength physically or mentally to leave him and instead let him completely uproot her life. She’s finally escaped from him and run to Corpus, where her sister lives, looking to follow in her footsteps and take a job stripping at The Devil’s Den. Right away, she causes herself some trouble and her past is hunting her down. She met Craig when she was younger and had a lingering crush on him. However, seeing as how he used to be in love with her sister, he is quite the manwhore, she is understandably wary of him. Craig is finally over Robyn, so he’s frustrated when he finds himself inexplicably drawn to Maricela. He’s content with his life, although he has a lingering desire to find his way back to being a cop after an incident caused him to resign several years before. It doesn’t take long for Craig to realize that he would give up just about anything for Maricela. Unfortunately, she is still so young, and has a lot of growing up to do. He’s determined to protect her from her past and the stupid decisions she is currently making, but Maricela doesn’t make it easy for him. They practically spontaneously combust when they are together, but outside of their chemistry there are a lot of obstacles in their way as they reach for that happily ever after. In Surrender, Craig kind of goes back and forth between being someone the reader is frustrated and annoyed with, to someone they have sympathy for in having lost his love. When we get to Seduction, the author brings out the good immediately and I forgot all about anything negative from the last book. He is an ultimate alpha, overbearing and over protective at times, but he is also sweet and caring, and he falls head over heels for Maricela. His love for her gives him more patience and for the most part, his overprotective attitude was justly warranted. Honestly, Maricela was a little harder for me to accept. For a young woman to be with someone sis years older than her, they usually display a more developed level of maturity. I didn’t feel this was the case with Maricela. Especially considering what she had experienced with her ex, I was quite surprised at the tantrums and irrational decisions. However, I still like her and I liked her and Craig as a couple. The story is by no means boring, there is a lot to keep you interested. It moves quickly and with purpose, giving it a nice flow. The ending was just a little abrupt for me. However, this was completely due to my issues with Maricela’s maturity. Despite that, I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend the series. It was definitely a solid 4 stars!
Marisela Gonzalez’s luck with men has been terrible in her short life. She is running from her abusive ex-boyfriend, so she heads over to the Devil’s Den strip club where her sister used to work, determined to take charge of her own life. However, Marisela soon finds herself in trouble once again, ending up at the wrong place at the wrong time messing with the wrong guy. Unexpectedly, she crosses paths with a guy who is brave enough to stand up to her even when she tries to push him away. She begins to believe she is not too much of a damaged girl. Maybe she needs one particular man in her life more than she ever thought she would.
Craig Hanson is an ex-cop now head of security at The Devils Den strip club, he has been a player for a long time. Commitment has been never in his future. So when he discovers this urgent need to hold and protect Marisela Gonzales he doesn’t know what to do with these feelings. She is the little sister of his ex-girlfriend now turned close friend, and she is only nineteen. But he can’t seem to resist her tough girl attitude and their instant chemistry is undeniable. He knows there is something else there behind her tough girl persona. What is she hiding? He plans to show her how a real man treats the woman he loves; he will protect and cherish her even when she tries so desperately to push him away.
My Review:
This is book two in The Devil’s Den series, we met Marisela and Craig in book one. He was lusting after her sister Robyn and Marisela was an innocent teen struggling to find her place in the world. We only got a quick glimpse of these two in the first book, but I could tell that Marisela had a crush on Craig. At the time, he only had eyes for Robyn. Even though Craig sounded like a big ole jerk, I knew there was something more to him. Finding out more about Craig in this book was amazing, he had his arrogant moments but deep down he is a good guy looking for a love. With Marisela, it took a little more for me to get into her as a character. I understood she went through a lot in her young life, the way she pushed even her sister away seemed a little unrealistic to me. When I found out about her past, I was shocked that she went through so much on her own. I guess I was just as frustrated as Craig, trying to get into Marisela’s head. When she opened up and let people in it was a beautiful thing. No one could deny these two had chemistry from the start, the sex scenes were hot, the author threw in a little BDSM I loved it. I actually thought this book was better than the first, it had a fuller story. Where the first book at times seemed a little rushed, this one had a better flow to it. The Gonzales sister’s sure know how to find trouble, definitely made for an exciting read. Loved the epilogue. I am very glad I stuck with this series the author did a better job with this one than the first one for sure, the goal is always to get better as a writer I believe. I am looking forward to delving into Macey’s story. Though she pretends to have it all together, I am thinking she is a bit of a hot mess. Can’t wait to find out.

Seduction: A Devil's Den Novel Violetta Rand (Author) ***** 5 STARS ***** A new adult story that I actually loved! Seduction is the second book in the Devil's Den series, with Surrender being the first book. Note: even though this is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone, a fact I enjoyed very much. Seduction focuses on two key players and is told in both their POV (point of view). They are: Marisela Gonzales, who at the age of 19 has dropped out of college, sold her car, bought a bike and shows up in town after being out of contact with family and friends for over 6 months. She's sporting tattoos, piercings and seems to be running from something or someone. Then we Craig Hanson, an ex cop and current Devil's Den head of security. Craig at the young age of 25 is Mr. Playboy extraordinaire who just can’t seem to be able to keep his pants zipped which has caused him some problems in the past. This dynamic story starts out with one Marisela Gonzales riding into town on her Ducati motorcycle and stopping at a stripper club known as the Devil's Den. Loud noises has her walking right into the middle of a bar brawl. As she says "No matter where I go something terrible happens". Damn I love it already. So........she grabs a beer bottle and breaks it over the back of a patron's head after she sees him slash a club bouncer on the arm with a knife. Yep that's what happens in the opening lines of this book. Getting your interest here? So I’m thinking where is this story going to go and can it stay as dynamic as the opening lines. It does that and more as you will see when you get caught up in the pages of Seduction. So I try really hard not to give anything away when I write a review and I so detest when people write spoilers. Let me just say this………….. this story is heartfelt and could be a true story that happens any day of the week. It deals with the daily trials of life for Marisela and Craig. Their characters and chemistry is excellently portrayed. Add in the dynamics of the supporting players in this story and you have such wonderful depth and dimension going on that you actually can get lost in this book so easily. You will read some really heart stopping points especially when Marisela’s ex abusive boyfriend enters the picture on more than one occasion. My hat goes off to this author on her unique way of bringing this part of the story to life.. You will follow the struggles that plague Marisela as she struggles to move on with her life and holding her feeling for Craig at bay. Then you have Craig realizing his past behavior and playboy ways could destroy his chances to win Maribel broken heart. I will say that I had a hate/love thing going with Craig and even Marisela throughout most of the book but in the end I championed for them both. I will admit there are some predictable parts, especially near the end of the book but there were also some shockers that took my breath away. Fair warning here……….. it does deal with sexual abusive and violence. There are many… yes many hot sex scenes throughout the book……. BUT. I would not change any of it. Loved it all.
I received an ARC compliments of Random House Publishing in return for an honest review.
Marisela Gonzalez went missing months and months ago. No one had seen or heard from her since she dropped out of school and took off with her boyfriend that no one knew anything about. When she shows up at Devil’s Den looking for her sister she arrives just in time to see a fight break out. Now nineteen year old Marisela doesn’t have to just worry about her crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend but also the man that she hit over the head with a beer bottle while trying to help Craig. Coming back with secrets that not even her sister knows about, she’s no longer the innocent little sister that she used to be. Now tattooed and pierced Marisela Gonzalez is a force to be reckoned with.
It’s been a year and a half since Craig had seen Robyn’s little sister and she looks more like her now then she did back then. When she shows up at The Devil’s Den in leather, riding a motorcycle, he can’t help but be attracted to her. He lusted after Robyn for years and only got over her after she got engaged to Garrick. When he finds out that she’s beaten and abused he will do anything to not only keep her safe but to make sure that her ex pays dearly even if it means hiring her as a dancer at the club. Can a man like Craig that hasn’t had any relationships that lasted longer than a couple months be true to one girl or will he once again resort to his cheating ways?
When I received the ARC for this book, I went ahead and bought book one so that I would know the back ground of the characters coming in to this one. I’ve got to tell you, as much as I loved the first book, I feel that this was so much better. I fell in love with Marisela’s chipper little attitude in the first book and even though we only got a small glimpse of her, it was enough that I was really excited to find that this book was about her. But time hasn’t been all that great on Marisela, in fact it’s been downright cruel. Having been the youngest of the family, she was left to deal with her parents on her own and their strict Catholic upbringing only caused her to rebel which in turn got her into some trouble that she is now trying to escape from. As for Craig, I didn’t care a whole for him until the end of the book one so I knew going into this one that he would be okay but his tenderness towards Marisela blew me away at times.
This was truly an amazing book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series named Sin. There is no except in the ARC that tells who or what it is about, hopefully it’s about Macey but regardless, I’m sure that it too will be amazing!
I received an advanced readers copy of this book from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Seduction is the second book in the Devil's Den series. The first book was Surrender and I did have the opportunity to read it first. This book can be read as a stand alone but I think readers will benefit and take more from the story if they read them in order.
Marisela was first introduced as Robyn's younger and privileged sister in the first book. Things since then have changed and her situation is much different. Circumstances and events have hardened her. As she runs from her past she runs straight to The Devil's Den and into Craig's arms.
I had the same issues with this book as I had with the first one. The relationship between Marisela and Craig moved too quickly and before I even had the chance to process what was happening it was getting hot and heavy between the sheets. Their relationship was a little underdeveloped for me to feel the connection that it kept mentioning they had. Although the emotional connection was lacking a bit the physical connection definitely was not. In fact, I felt like perhaps a bit too much of the story was spent in the bedroom. Rand definitely knows how to write about sex.
A big problem for me was with the characters. Craig wasn't all that likeable in the first book and although he was much better in Seduction, I would have liked a little more of his personality to shine through. He wasn't terrible but he puffed his chest a little too much for my liking and was a little too possessive. Marisela on the other hand was bordering on annoying throughout the entire story. I wasn't a big fan of hers. She was definitely more likeable from the little I read of her in the first book.
I would have to give a little bit of an edge to the first book in this series over this one. Although it was an entertaining read it was shy on plot and character development and heavy on the physical. I am very much looking forward to the next instalment about the best friend. With her unique and say it like it is attitude, it should make for some interesting developments.
So when I read the blurb for Seduction, I was very intrigued by the story. This is a new adult story, which normally I would avoid like the plague, but Seduction grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let it go. The Story is as follows; Marisela has arrived back in Austin after not talking to anyone for 6 months. But she has changed, gone was the clean girl image and now there is a tough secretive 19 year old with tattoos and piercings and she wants to dance at Devils Den. But who is the first person she sees after getting off the bike…Craig; the man she has had a crush on for years, the same man who is in love with her sister. Craig is a playboy, who opened his heart up to Robyn (Marisela sister), but she fell in love with someone else. Now a year later Craig is over his feeling for Robyn, but has fallen under Marisela spell. But their past comes back to haunt and hurt them. Will they be able to get through all of this and still be together…? To start with, this book features a very adult storyline and would that I would recommend that only over 18’s read. First I would like to say I really enjoyed this book, although some of the domestic violence mentioned traumatized me a little. But I found this book to be gritty and realistic. I though the author had researched the subjects and situations really well. I found the writing to flow well, until the last couple of chapters and then it felt a little rushed. I loved the characters Craig and Marisela; I found their stories very believable and the characters 3 dimensional. The bad guys were written perfectly, and the supporting characters were developed fully. I read this book as a standalone, but I wished I would have read the first book in the series, so I could have a little more back story. Overall I found this book very enjoyable. I have never read a Violetta Rand book before, but clearly I have been missing out of an amazing author. One that makes New Adult books, seem main stream and honestly I LOVED THAT!!! So surprisingly enough, I am going to give Seduction 10 out of 10, which is my highest score ever, for a New Adult book.
Very good book. I enjoyed this book a lot, it gives us a better look at Craig & why he's the way he was in Surrender. A former cop & now head of security at the Devils Den he goes through women like water but that all stops when he sees Marisela again. Marisela is the younger sister of a former dancer at the club & one time love interest for Craig(not that anything happened). Marisela is running from her ex-boyfriend who has abused her, humiliated her & threatened to kill her. Looking for a job she goes to the Devils Den & runs into Craig in the middle of a fight with a few bikers from a gang & rival club. Seeing him again brings up the feelings she's been hiding for him & she decides to help out by attacking with a beer bottle over the head when she sees a gang member cut Craig & attempt to stab him. Craig finally gets rid of them & turns to her shocked to see her, but even more shocked when she asks for a job. Taking her to meet the boss they decide she's safer working there than anywhere. A relationship begins between the two but trouble follows in the form of her ex & a bitchy dancer that Craig has had a relationship with. Threatening her sister's life & that of her unborn baby Marisela fends off his attempts to get her back & Craig's ex sticking her nose in there as well. Craig has decided that Marisela is his for as long as he wants her. What neither of them expect is to fall in love with each other. Marisela is trying to find independence & stand on her own 2 feet & we see a lot of growth in her, while Craig is trying to show her how great they could be together. Their hot nights come with consequences & Marisela runs again. Craig decides some changes are needed in his life & also decides that it's time to look at his future & he sees it with Marisela if he can find her. Can they have the future they both want? Can Marisela get away from her ex once & for all? I hope that there will be more books in this series, maybe Macey(Marisela's sisters best friend & dancer), maybe Lucas(Craig's cousin).
Nineteen year old Marisela Gonzalez arrives back in her home town running from a very abusive relationship. On the exterior her demeanor emits a self-assured leather clad motorcycle riding sexy siren. Internally she’s vulnerable, frightened for her life and embarrassed to admit to her family what she has been up to because as far as they were concerned she was supposed to be in college. She arrives at Devil’s Den, a strip club looking for her sister that worked there as a dancer. After an altercation at the door with a gang member, she reacquaints with Craig Hanson, head of security and someone she secretly crushed on before she left town but also someone who had been in lust with her sister. Craig can’t take his eyes off of Marisela and the attraction is mutual. Craig takes Marisela to see her sister who is now married and pregnant. After her sister’s shock of finding out that Marisela has not been in college and a few other surprising revelations, Marisela is wondering if she may have made a mistake coming back home. When Craig overhears a disturbing phone conversation between Marisela and her crazy ex-boyfriend, his need to protect her takes over and he intervenes. The sexual magnetism between them is powerful and he just can’t resist her; their chemistry is undeniable and he pursues her. She acquiesce is advances despite her recent turmoil as Craig is fierce, dominant and possessive. Their relationship is nothing of the ordinary, full of passion, secrets, drama and regret. But Craig slowly thaws her heart despite her knowing his history and he stops at nothing to eradicate her terrorizing past that continues to re-surface. Both of them are deeply flawed but learn together the power of love and trust. Wow! I could not put this book down. It was intense, fast-paced and romantically charged. I was captivated right to the nail-biting end. 4 stars *An advance reading copy of Seduction A Devil’s Den Novel by Violetta Rand was provided to me from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
