Petals certainly put through a rough ride in this book. I felt sore all over just reading about her predicament – and not the good kind of sore haha!
The most fascinating item on this one was the suit. It was her punishment for disobedience. As much as it was interesting, I do wonder (as far as I remember there was no mentioned of it) how she deal with going to the toilet lol!
Petals’ new trainer certainly didn’t give her a break. He pushed her to the limit until she started questioning her own survival. But someone was determined to save her, though the price to pay might be higher than ever expected.

3,5 'Bad, bad pony' stars
Petal is in trouble again and I can't decide if I'm completely in awe of this woman's willpower not to submit wholly or if I'm agitated by her stupid choices. Either way, she's one hell of a tough pony.
There was a lot of pain in this book. So much, actually, that it was a tiny bit too much for my taste. Where Kyle's sadistic tastes lie... That's way beyond sexual sadism and his scenes were just very unpleasant to read. If he doesn't get tortured and gruesomely killed before the end of the series, I'll be vastly disappointed. And while we are it at, I wouldn't mind if we get disposed of Mr. Radcliffe also. He won't be missed at all. (It would be really cool if Isabelle is secretly an assassin, who will prepare Kyle a night to remember. And not in a good way, at least not for him *evil laughter*)
I totally get that this series is firmly in fiction (boarding to fantasy) territory and that I shouldn't be bothered by some very unrealistic stuff. However, there was one thing that constantly annoyed me. It was disturbing to read about how Jenny barely had anything to eat throughout the whole stay at The Albrecht stables. It was unnecessarily cruel and mean and also quite illogical and stupid. They are training ponies to do all these performings and exercises and how can you do that without being fed and well-rested? It's like trying to win a fight with an undernourished and tired gladiator. Putting these two things together is not exactly rocket science. That wasn't some deal-breaker, just a pet peeve of mine.
Surprisingly, I very much enjoyed Mark and Marianna's scenes together. I have to admit, I didn't care about Marianna in previous books but she kind of grew on me here. I wonder what will happen to her, considering Mark and Jenny are probably the end game? Maybe she could get a job as a waitress in that bar? I wouldn't mind another visit there because that was filthy hot!! The best part of this book.

In A Rough Ride, Jenny (a.k.a. Pretty Pink Petals) is transferred to her new trainer; however, she soon discovers her circumstance is not exactly what she had hoped it would be. During this interim, Jenny will spend two days as a trainee under an unrelenting sadist in order to prepare her for the highest bidder at the auction.

As this richly kinky series steadily develops, my interest is consistently peaked and I cannot wait to see how the plot unfolds in the final book.

I loved this much longer installment of the Pony Tales series. We got more gloriously kinky pony play, more dub-con deliciousness (which Jennifer enjoys immensely) along with lots more clues and hints as to what is in play behind the scenes. There was more of Mark in his 'real' life and some scenes of him at play with his submissives.
I will say that we still aren't at a 'romance' point in the story, though there is a definite connection between Mark and Jennifer. There are scenes that some might interpret as cheating, or on the borders of it, but as there is no actual relationship/commitment between them, I don't view it as such.
Jennifer learns some shocking truths in this book, enough almost to break her resolve. She also suffers the consequences of her naive/foolish trainer choice. Added to all that, she is subject to 48 hours of the most cruel sexual torture, humiliated beyond belief, set impossible to achieve tasks, barely fed and watered, driven to exhaustion and abused by a sadist. Despite all that she finds herself enjoying much of it and using the rest of it to keep herself angry and sane.
The writing is good, with some nice little touches of humour. The plot moves along well and this is an excellent read for when you want to indulge in a scorching hot, NSFW, filthily depraved story but also want a decent plot with it, rather than just crudeness. I'm off to read the final book now!

So close to the end and now the big reveals are happening. Are they a surprise? Not really. Petal just sabotages herself over and over again. She isn't bright and she makes so many mistakes it's unreal. The owner of this kinky pony farm is finally revealed. It is as expected. Even the way the owner is related yet not related to Petal is predicted by most readers. It does make sense after looking at how Petal is being treated.
The plot of this book moves slow. My guess is because it needs to wrapped in in book six. What isn't slow is the masturbatory scenes assaulting the reader one right after another. Yes, I can be bribed with porn and I can be bribed with deviant sex filled with humiliation. This one is filled with the good stuff. Ms. Mandara does a nice job of contrasting Kyle's unbalanced sadism with Mark's erotic sadism. It gives a reader perspective of how sadists can be different and why one would be preferable over another. Mark's dark desires are willingly met by his submissives. The Japanese dinner scene is tantalizing and I can't decide if I want to be the diner or the dinner platter. I think I'd liked to be tormented as a dinner platter. Having experience being a platter for sushi in real life, being a turkey stuffing seems to be quite exciting. How would it work? A deviant mind whirls with dirty possibilities.
The BDSM in this story, how to describe it? Impossible, panty wetting, sex toy buzzing and depraved are probably the words I'm thinking of when reading this book. None of the BDSM in this story is plausible without killing someone or severely damaging them for life. This is a BDSM fantasy and for those who fantasize about females being sexually tortured, forced to orgasm and turned into dumb animals. Expecting SSC or RACK is unreasonable and not applicable in this book.
There is one thing that baffles me in this book. There is a reminiscing by Petal of her father and how strict he was at home. It covers how she was disciplined and embarrassed in front of others. The question is, if this is the case, then how did she end up being such a spoiled brat? This makes no sense to me and I've not been able to reconcile it in my head. Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing what will happen in book six. I want to know if Petal is saved or not. I want to know what Mark will do. I want to know why Petal's father has it in for Mark so much. I'm hoping for some really deviant depraved debauchery, even if it is just a one night scene. I can't see a way this will end well with a happily ever after. This darkly kinky erotica is recommended for those who enjoy sadistic pony-girl training.

Seriously, what the hell, damn cliff hanger! I couldn't believe some of the stuff going on in this book…Sex slaves, auctions, paddles, whips, belts, pony play, sadistic trainers, horny men and women, latex suits that get your worked up and cut you off...tons of interesting sex scenes.
Kyle needs someone to cane his ass. The way he is with Jenny is unbelievable! I really like Mark which is crazy but if I was Jenny and those two were my only options...Mark world be my choice.
This is the first book that I have read by C.P. Mandara but it won't be the last! Even though this is the 5th book in the pony series it was the first one that I read, it probably helps if you read them all in order but I was able to jump right in with this story. I bought the book because I am a Christina Mandara fan. The author has an amazing way of delivering the hottest, most sizzling story that keeps you fixed to the pages. Mark is an intense Dom but Christian gives him a softer edge in this book. I am not an expert in BDSM but he seems to be perfect for this character.
This book is more involved and the story gets more complex. I just can’t imagine how this can become any better in the next book to come but somehow I know that this author can manage to surpass everything she does. It is thrilling, exciting and definitely sizzling hot!!!!

I suspect both are in for a severe comeuppance.
In the end, Jenny really is a whole lot better off with / under Mark that the spoiled brat she was or the shell she was going to be.

C.P. Mandera is one of my favorite erotic authors. I couldn’t wait for this book to come out. Luckily I received an ARC for an honest review. It’s intriguing and keeps you flipping the pages…quite the panty-melter. I’m not one to give out spoilers, so will end with this is a ‘must read’ if you love steamy erotica.

Very hot read! With the plot getting more and more complicated from book to book, here the story seemed to reach a sort of a climax, a very satisfying one, with Mark changing a little, in a delightfully surprising way. For myself I loved this change, this softer side to him,and I have high expectations from the next installment

I’m just powering through to reach the finale.
There is hardly a plot.
I feel like I’m watching myself watching myself read this book.
The narrative is shy.
Feels like Nat geo expose on sex slave camp- which is fascinating and dastardly. That’s not my issue.
It’s just there ain’t no damn plot!
Idgaf about Marianna or Madame Secretary or any miscellaneous character. I would if she aided in developing the main characters or the plot but no.. every auxiliary scene is an exercise in imagination (which I applaud) but have no patience to appreciate.
I skimmed this book.
Finally reach the moment where we expect Jenny and Mark to finally reach an impasse and it was... uncharacteristic? I’m so desperate for something to finally happen that I exhaled with relief at their parting.
Mark is so loaded and powerful but homegirls rescue is so delayed? It’s like Superman saving Lois Lane from a burning building by taking the stairs!

Jenny’s capitulation is nothing short of jaw dropping. She’s completely changed and I’m not mad at that. She put up a good fight.

A Rough Ride is volume 5 of C. P. Mandara’s well written and extremely erotic Pony Tales.

Mark Matthews is never far away and is fighting his own battles, a captivating story within an already fascinating one.

The restaurant scene is just about the best BDSM erotica I have read in ages. It is imaginative, arousing, hot and sensual. As a matter of a fact this goes for almost every erotic scene in this volume and its predecessors.

Holy hell was that a crazy ride. This book is no way made for the faint of heart. The whole time I was reading it I was like WTF am I reading. I read book one in this series, and I liked it. So, now I need to go back and read the other 3.
This book was so fucking twisted, but... I couldn't stop reading it. As much as I wanted to stop, I kept coming back to it, because I wanted to know what was going to happen. I have read some twisted taboo books before, but I think this one has made the top of my list.
I have to get my hands on the next book in this series now. I actually really enjoyed this book, and I need more. If you are a fan of twisted taboo books about human ponies, this is definitely the book for you.

A twisted, intriguing ride; that is for sure. I was so intrigued by A Rouge Ride and couldn't put it down, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart. The cliffhanger that ends this one is beyond cruel; I am DYING for book 6, as the plot is getting right to where I'd like it.
This series gets more and more intriguing to me; I'm intrigued by Jenny and Mark's relationship and how that keeps building. Some of the rest of the story I'm not as crazy about, but I must see how this plays out. In A Rough Ride, shit hits the fan and things get intense! I am SO intrigued to see where things will go.
Can The Ties That Bind please be here now?

Christina Mandara has once again topped the pressure charts with her latest installment in this series. While this book can be read as a standalone, the prior four books give added depth and dimension to the complex plot and character development. There is no words to describe the masterful control the author has as a wordsmith. With the criminal threat looming, the relationships changing and the plot twists, this is a page turner of ultimate proportions. I cannot wait to read Book 6 in the complex, outstanding series. My advice is do yourself a favor and clear you calender. You will not want to, no...you just won't, put the book down.

I just love these books! Mandara really has the ability to get under your skin and make you feel what the characters are feeling and experiencing. The scenes are hot and steamy, the characters are insatiable, all in their own unique ways, and the storyline is sharp as ever. I keep returning to Mandara from time to time whenever I feel I need to break-away from the mundane day-to-day life. Recommended as always!

Wowzers this is my favourite book of the series. I just love Mark Matthews and I think I would seriously be on my knees to him...ok, kidding, but hell what a guy. This book takes you certainly on a 'A Rough Ride' flipping heck, every page had my heart racing. Jenny I really liked her.
