I was excited to be back in this world and it did not disappoint.

Nate and Maddie’s story leans into that soft, nostalgic first love in a way that makes everything feel a little heavier, especially once you see how it all unravels. And Nate truly lives up to “Mr Persistent” because ten years of holding on is equal parts painful and romantic, and I felt every bit of it.

The emotional side really worked for me. There is so much longing and tension between them, and even after everything, their connection never feels lost. I also loved the found family element again because it brings warmth to all the angst. Those moments with the group added a sense of comfort that balanced out the heavier parts so well.

I did feel the pacing dip a bit in the second half, and some parts could have been tightened to keep that early momentum going. I also wanted a little more depth when it came to working through their past instead of moving past it so quickly. Still, I really enjoyed the experience overall, and it delivered the kind of emotional second chance romance I always look for.

I am curious to see whose story we get next.

2.5⭐ Because no cheating, no OWD, no comparing her to others.

I have no idea what this was. But it was very fast paced and insta-love, shallow, immature found family, silly characters, too many characters which add little to the plot, dragging and boring.

Trashy girls being referred to as Vogue models.

Maddie's brother and Leo being the biggest manhwores.

Maddie and Nate eye-fucking each other the second they met. While they are supposed to be from a strictly religious Christian family (other than being mentioned twice, there is nothing to show for this upbringing).

Maddie begging Nate to kiss her because she has never been kissed and practically throws herself at him a couple of hours after they met.

The next paragraph two weeks have passed and they are dating/in a relationship and he is talking about being her only boyfriend and her being his everything. There was no development, nothing to look forward to, no build-up. Just nothing.

Nate’s mom lying to Maddie to try make things better, seriously, a lying parent?

The reason Nate broke up with Maddie was so ridiculous. Man…no words…and for it take 10 years before they get back together, such a waste of time (and here I mean my time wasted on this!).

Everything was moving at lightning speed, it was ridiculous considering this just started as summer fling. The years after moved way too fast without any dept.

Maddie was insufferable. Her pushing Nate away was so immature and how stubborn she was running away every time he wanted to talk to her, just for the sake to push for the 10 year mark.

Writer used the argument ‘it was never the right time’ to push for the 10 years, because there wasn’t any real reason for it to be this long. It was exaggerated. And when she thought, we hit the 10 year mark, let’s get them back together, Mason walks in and confesses what he did, out of nowhere. So how is that for never the right time?

“Never?” she whispers.
“No.” I hesitate, feeling this is the time to be completely open. “There was one time, after Camila died, after you left. I gave up hope, but I couldn’t go through with it. I hated the thought of touching someone who wasn’t you, like I was betraying you.”

I guess I can forgive his moment of weakness. This is when you can actually say, it has always been you and it holds substance! And literally the only reason for the rating.

Overall, everything was shallow in this book, we didn’t see Nate or Maddie grow, we didn’t see any milestones. Things were just told in passing. For a book this long, I expected more dept and development. For example, the masquerade ball. It could’ve shown them connecting with important people, get acknowledgement for their achievements, a slow dance, some chemistry. We got nothing of that. We got Maddie jumping Nate’s bones, some domestic vibes with the family members, as if they are at a picknick and then it’s over. We saw nothing of them doing business, other than a few sentences here and there.

The last 5 chapters were a mix of random things thrown in, the mafia, a stalker, ex-turned psycho without any real reason. I just didn’t care about this cocktail anymore.

Just read the first couple of chapters and the last 5.

Oh, and if this motherf'er calls her Godess one more time ☠️

I have some thoughts… firstly I thought this book was pretty good and I’m also loving the bonded brothers series and all the characters. I love a second chance romance, because anything that makes me cry is a five star in my book. They were the true definition of soulmates and had the sweetest childhood love… but summer doesn’t last forever. The name “Mr Persistent” was an incredibly accurate choice because this man waited TEN YEARS ladies and gentlemen, ten years of straight up pining and just holding on to whatever fragments of her he had left. But I will say the first half of the book was amazing but the second half fell off a little on pacing. There are some incredibly angsty and tense parts too, but most of it was slow and how style could have been condensed into 1/2 the amount of pages. And for such a long book, character development was pretty minimal and they wanted to push a side their past rather than work through it (which I respect but that meant their issues weren’t really worked out). However I will say that the found family and the chemistry between Nate and Maddie was impeccable and beautiful. It was so heartwarming and I can’t wait to see more of this group. Do I recommended this book? Yes, but I will say that I did like the first book more, it was just more well rounded and had better character development. I give this a 3.5/5

Really enjoyed this read- it was a fresh take on MMC. Non toxic, non alpha- this had genuine character growth and soul-deep connection.

This isn’t your standard office romance, rather it’s a masterclass in the slow burn that actually smolders trope. The sharp witty banter was great too!

This series just keeps getting better and better! This is the second book in the Bonded Brothers series and it was amazing! The writing was perfect. The plot was chef kiss. You feel like you are in the book and that is what I adore. Maddie is such a sweet, stubborn, driven woman. Although she did seem childish at times. I love me some Nathaniel Davenport! He is sweet, selfless, broken, driven, sexy, and persistent. Him and Maddie together are a dream. All the supporting characters fit well. I wanted to punch the arrogant prick Corey in the face though. He grated on me like he was supposed to. I love how the story felt like real life. I love the character development. This book makes you feel all the characters emotions. This book will teach you to follow your dreams because doing what ypu love will pay off and never give up on what you believe in or want. You will want to read the first book Mr. Unexpected before this since the storyline does carry over from the first book. I cannot wait for Mr. Irresistible.

I absolutely loved book 1 in this series so had been looking forward to reading more about this family. I’d highly recommend reading Mr Unexpected before diving in to Mr Persistent if you haven’t already, and I did have to go back and refresh my memory a bit which helped when diving back into this world.

Nate and Maddie meet at summer camp as teenagers and are together until their early 20s, but then spend 10 years apart. We get to see a lot of those early days at camp and some of their relationship through college, as well as a little of what happens whilst they’re apart.

This book is over 600 pages and I did at time feel it was too long and certain storylines were dragged out which didn’t really add much to the book and could have been cut down.

I love the found family aspects of this series that are so strong throughout and am so intrigued by Leo and Seb’s stories, and I hope Mase gets his own book too!

Thank you to the author for this ARC.

Nate and Maddie’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful, full of love, passion, friendship, fun, laughter and also heartbreak, sadness, loss and feelings. I was so engrossed in this book I couldn’t stop reading it and when I couldn’t be actually reading it I couldn’t stop thinking about it! The Morales/Davenport men are absolutely capturing my heart.

If you like a contemporary romance that packs a real emotional punch, with fabulous characters, plot with real substance, characters that feel like they could be your friends irl, and a book that just really pulls you in and immerses you in the story go now and read it!

Book 1 in the series, Mr Unexpected had me in tears in the very first chapter, I made it to chapter 11 before my eyes began leaking… 11 chapters of Nate and Maddie falling in love (I mean look up the meaning of soulmates in the dictionary and there should be a picture of these 2 because that is absolutely what they are without a shadow of a doubt) before your heart is pulled out, stomped on and beaten, my heart absolutely broke for Maddie. I’m not going to give any information about the storyline as I don’t want to spoil it but trust me that this is a story so well written, the characters, both the main characters and side characters, pull you in and feel relatable, the process that Maddie and Nate go through feels real and genuine, nothing happens just to fit a plot point or for effect, it absolutely captivated me and took me on a true tumultuous ride where o felt all the highs and the lows that they all experienced.

One of my favourite parts of this book, and indeed book 1, is the relationship and bond the brothers have, and the found family elements. The Morales family brought Nate and Harrison into their family and treats them as their own and the relationship and love between them all is fierce and palpable as you read. The friendship between Nate, Maddie and Leo is one of my favourites.

There are trigger warnings, part of the main series plot line is the loss of a loved one (the big C) and it explores all the process of grief that several of the characters go through, I would say in more detail that book 1 did. It also has previous child neglect/abuse. So definitely check out those before reading. J.R. Gale has written these storylines very well, with sensitive and dignity. There is no cheating/other woman drama, this is not the reason that they break up, I’m not spoiling why they do but know that Nate spends 10 years trying to make things right and neither one truly moves on with someone else.

I fully recommend this to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with second chance, it’s always been you, soulmates, found family vibes. If you like a book to grip you and take you through a relationship that spans years and has real gritty emotional depth then this book is definitely for you!

Just when I thought I had gotten over Harrison and Jules' whirlwind love story in Mr. Unexpected, Nate and Maddie enter the scene and threw out everything I thought I knew about second chance romance! 🫣

The story spans over 15 years, with Nate and Maddie first meeting at Camp Horizon in their late teens. Maddie is automatically enamoured by Nate (who also happens to be best friends with her brother, Mason) and here, a fully fledged crush is born. Unbeknownst to her, Nate feels just the same way and feels the undeniable attraction to be near Maddie. What started as a crush ends up with them being inseparable, a summer love with no ending in sight. Despite falling in love young, their lives are just starting. Yet Nate does the unfathomable and decides to call it quits with Maddie, whilst breaking his heart in the process 💔

It's not until a decade after they've broken up that Nate catches wind of Maddie's engagement. Knowing that he's left their reconciliation for far too long, Nate springs into action to win back his woman. No matter what it takes, he wants forever again with Maddie.... 💗♾️

Oh boy, what a rollercoaster of a journey we go on with Nate and Maddie's story. Their love is undoubtedly one for the books. It was real, raw and so intense and I could feel every heart beat, every emotion and every tear from them both! 😮‍💨

Maddie is our hopeless romantic albeit ambitious FMC, who dreams of becoming a successful architect, whilst living her best life in NYC. When Nate comes barelling back into her life, she doesn't want to want him. The feelings she's kept dormant towards Nate comes rushing back, leaving herself helpless. She still loves him so much, but is terrified in taking the next step into their relationship, only to end up blindsided again.

Nate is an absolute dream boat who is loyal to a fault with Maddie, who loves with his whole body and soul. He wanted nothing but to see Maddie flourish and achieve her dreams in life, even if it meant breaking his heart in the process. Although Nate had demons of his own, it was so precious knowing that Maddie was his safeplace where he could confide in her. Nate's protectiveness was unmatched and the way he worshipped Maddie... 🫠🫠🫠 Let's just say she's one lucky, lucky lady! 😮‍💨

And can we just mention the found family trope? This book certainly has it in spades! The Davenport-Morales family is a super tight knit one - where one would literally lay their life on the line for another. Despite them not all being bound by blood, the importance that they've chosen to be in each others lives just speaks volumes. Camila always manages to make me shed a few tears (I loved reading about her!!). I adore the family and seriously, seriously cannot wait to come back for more in Leo's book!! 💗💗

Thank you so much to JR Gale and Hambright PR for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review 🫶🏼

Mr Persistent, the second book in J.R. Gale’s Bonded Brothers series, centres around Nate Davenport, delivering an emotional and angsty journey of first love, heartbreak, and second chances. Nate first meets Maddie Grace Cunningham at summer camp when she was only sixteen, where it’s a definite case of love at first sight. Despite coming from vastly different backgrounds, Nate’s wealthy and privileged upbringing contrasting with Maddie’s working-class roots in Georgia, they share an ambition of becoming architects. With the odds stacked against them from the start somehow their relationship endures, through the separation of finishing high school before they attend college together making what comes next all the more painful when Nate makes a decision for both of them, breaking not only her heart but his own, in a way that leaves lasting damage on both sides.

What follows is a decade of anger, hurt, and resentment. Maddie refuses to hear Nate out, while he refuses to give up on her, determined to win her back. As the narrative unfolds, his persistence drives much of their story, with things becoming increasingly urgent, especially after Maddie’s engagement to another man is announced threatening to close the door on them for good. Spanning several years, from their early days at camp through to their eventual reunion in New York, Nate and Maddie’s story is a heartfelt second-chance romance. Their journey, packed with heartbreak, secrets, and plenty of turmoil, is balanced out with witty banter and strong chemistry but mainly with a love never died. There’s also an added layer of drama with a subtle threat of danger surrounding Maddie and a secret she’s been keeping from everyone. One of the standout elements, as expected from this author, is the strong sense of found family. Alongside Harrison, Leo, and Sebastian, Nate is part of a tight-knit group of men who consider themselves family in all the ways that matters, and the camaraderie between the ‘brothers’ add warmth, depth, and love. And while a few plot threads feel unresolved, they may well be addressed in future books, particularly as Leo and Sebastian’s stories unfold.

This story follows Maddie and Nate whose love story begins during one unforgettable summer at Camp Horizon. Maddie is a small town girl with big dreams of becoming an architect while Nate comes from a powerful and wealthy family but carries a painful past. Their connection starts soft and sweet but life pulls them apart when reality, distance and past trauma get in the way. Years later fate brings them together again and the feelings they tried to bury never truly disappeared.
I absolutely loved the emotional depth in this book. Nate is the definition of a persistent hero and the way he never truly lets go of Maddie made my heart melt. His protective and loyal nature added so much intensity to the story. Maddie was also such a strong and relatable character who followed her dreams even after heartbreak.
The romance felt soft, nostalgic and emotional in the beginning and then turned into a beautiful second chance story. The summer camp setting added such a cozy vibe and their first love moments were honestly adorable. Watching them reconnect years later and heal from their past made the story even more satisfying.
The writing was easy to follow and the chemistry between the characters was strong from the start. The mix of sweet romance, emotional moments and character growth made this such a comforting read for me.
This was such a beautiful second chance love story and I truly enjoyed every moment of it.

Thank you to J R Gale and Hambright PR for an advanced reader copy of this book. While there were some hard moments, for the most part, Mr. Persistent was a really heartwarming tale of an endless love between 2 souls destined for each other. The first part of the book is a flashback to when Nate and Maddie first meet and we are taken on their journey of young love and the struggles that often faces. The second part of the book is full of growing pains and choices that lead us to the present day Nate that we met in Mr. Unexpected. This is a story of growth, of forgiveness, and of discovering who you are, but also learning to lean on others. The yearning between this couple is very palpable and the intimate scenes have some serious heat. Definitely a sweet and spicy read! I truly love how much the connections of this family can be felt and how they absolutely have each other’s back and scoop Maddie right up in there from the start. Nate really is the picture of devotion, even though he made some poor judgement calls along the way. My only real struggles with this book is I do think it’s too long, without some of the presented pieces of the story being developed more. They either needed to be developed, or just left out as it didn’t add much to the story. I did get irritated with especially Maddie at times at the way things were handled, but I can see that it was supposed to be part of the growth arc (I think). There were a few things left unanswered, though that may be because they’ll come up in future books. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

This book is girthy, and in a good way, and it needs all of this to truly tell the story of Nate and Maddie Grace. And, when I read Mr Unexpected sometime ago, my first book from J.R. Gale, I knew I would love anything else she wrote following that, and this surpasses this.

J.R writes so well, that you feel as though you to are part of the story, part of these two's family and friend group. So with that, you feel their love, their heartbreak, their grief. When Nate and Maddie met at camp, a camp Maddie did not want to go too, neither of them knew that they were meeting 'their person', that certain someone that is a once in a lifetime. Mason, Maggies brother and Nates best friend, didn't want them to be a couple but, how could they not?

Whilst navigating teenager/young adult, and making decisions to continue their lives together, going to same university, well meaning 'advice’ was given to Nate to give Maddie space to grow and find herself. Out of the shadow of her famous brother, and the small town she had come from.

This time saw so much growth while navigating an ache so deep that even with her anger and disbelief Maddie and our 'Mr Persistent' are always meant to be. Throughout the time apart, alot of things happen, shaping them both as now adults, and a work opportunity for Maddie sees Nate have an opportunity to rewrite the time that had gone by. What makes this book extra special is the family and friends that are huge part of both of their stories, while giving them the pages to shine. Absolutely brilliant, and I honestly hope one particular brother is next. He has had my heart since the first book in this series.

J.R. Gale’s Mr. Persistent is a thoughtful exploration of how we carry our past selves into our professional and personal futures. Returning to the world of the Bonded Brothers, this story centers on Maddie and Nate—architects who are better at designing structures than they are at managing their own emotional foundations.

What worked for me:
• The Setting: I loved the architectural backdrop. It wasn't just a "job" for the characters; Gale used it as a metaphor for the way they were rebuilding their lives. It added a layer of sophistication to the prose that felt very grounded.

• The Pacing: This is a true second-chance story. The 10-year gap felt heavy and earned. The pacing reflects that—it’s deliberate, allowing the reader to feel the weight of Maddie’s hesitation and the intensity of Nate’s resolve.

• The Banter: It’s witty without being "quirky." It felt like a conversation between two adults who know exactly which buttons to push because they were the ones who installed them in the first place.

A slight critique:
While I loved the chemistry, I occasionally wanted a bit more transparency from Nate earlier on. However, the eventual "reveal" of why he walked away provided the closure both the characters and I needed.

Final Verdict: A solid 4 stars. It’s a chic, "grown-up" romance that balances steam with genuine emotional stakes. Perfect for readers who like their "alpha" heroes with a side of remorse and a very expensive suit.

This story was so cute! Maddie and Nate meet as teenagers at summer camp and fall into that kind of first love that feels like it’s going to last forever, until he ends things and leaves her to deal with the fallout. Ten years later, when they end up back in each other’s lives through work, all the unresolved history comes right back. I loved watching them when they were younger and then seeing who they are now.

Nate is really what kept me locked into this. He’s not perfect, but the way he loves Maddie is so consistent. Even when I didn’t love his decisions, I understood them. Maddie really frustrated me at times. I get that it was part of her growth, but there were moments where I wanted her to say what she was feeling instead of shutting down. The family dynamic in this is one of my favorite parts of this series. It makes the whole world feel fuller, and I’m already way too invested in the rest of them.

My only critique is that this is a long book, and there were times that I felt it. But when it comes to the emotional side of things it was really well done- especially once everything starts coming together.

This one is emotional and a little frustrating at times, but still a lovely second chance romance. I was definitely in my feelings by the end and I need the other brothers’ stories immediately!

Mr. Persistent by J.R. Gale is the kind of second-chance romance that just gets under your skin. It’s not loud about it, but it lingers. You feel it in the quiet moments, in the tension, in that constant ache of what went wrong and what could still be fixed.
Maddie and Nate?? Whew. Straight up emotional chaos, but in the best way. You’ve got brother’s best friend, first love, all that intense “this is forever” energy… and then it completely falls apart. And when it does, it HURTS. Like, you feel the fallout.
Then we jump ten years ahead and the tension?? Even worse (better). It’s heavier, sharper, and packed with all that history they never really dealt with. Maddie’s grown, she’s stronger but those wounds are still there. And Nate… he comes back knowing exactly what he lost, and he is not about to let it slip away again.
What I really loved was how the past and present were woven together. It made everything hit harder. Every conversation, every look, it all felt loaded with “what if."
And when everything finally comes out?? Ugh. So messy, so emotional, but SO worth it.
This one isn’t just about romance, it’s about timing, forgiveness, and a love that never really went away, no matter how much time passed.
If you love second chances, emotional damage, and characters that stick with you after you finish… yeah, you’re gonna want this one.

I don't have words for this book, but WHAT A MASTERPIECE IT WAS. This author was introduced to me a few months back by my best friend and I must say, her writing and stories are out of this world. Mr. Persistent may be one of my favorite books this year. I laughed, smiled, cried, giggled at the antics of the other characters. This author just gets the reader.

Mr. Persistent is book 2 in the bonded brother's series, and this one is Nate and Maddie's story. We meet these characters in book one and you start to wonder "I NEED MORE". J.R. does wonderful by giving us a past history of these two and the now. Their story is beautiful and the way they connected is out of this world.

Nate is a golden retriever MMC who will do anything and everything for Maddie. The way this man lived his life and still had Maddie imprinted in his everyday life is like no other. Maddie is just like any best friend, she is relatable and shy, yet her heart belongs only to one man. Everything these characters went through was meant for a grand HEA for them.

Overall, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this to your TBR and if you can, make it a priority because it was AMAZING. Honestly it deserves more than 5 stars in my opinion. Can't wait for the rest of this series and more from this author.

Wow. Loved it couldn't put it down. One of my favourites of the year. This is the 2nd book in the Bonded Brother's series it can be read alone but would reading in order. It was so glad to be back in this world and wow, it did not disappoint. It left me wanting more.

This book starts when they Maddie Grace is forced to go to a summer camp with her brother Mason and meets one of his best friends Nate Davenport. From the moment they met Nate knew Mads was the girl for him and they spend all their time together. These two were destined for each other. This book does span over 10+ years, where we kept seeing then trying to meet but due to communication never get together even though everyone can see how hopelessly in love with each other they are. It's one of the best second chance, best friends to lovers I have read. The plot was chef's kiss. Be prepared with tissues, I sobbed in a few areas. But this has it all angst, spice and all the emotions.

Jr Gale's character development is spot on, and getting us to see the characters we have met before, who I absolutely adore.

Thank you @jrgaleauthor for allowing me to be apart of your team and read your amazing books.

Alright, first, I have to get my annoyance out of the way. The whole reason Nate & Maddie are apart for as long as they are is dumb. The way it happens, the reason it lasts so long, the way something else happens during their time apart - none of it was necessary & it made me very annoyed.

Now, having gotten that out of the way - the WRITING of that part was done spectacularly. I didn't like the plot device, but I did enjoy the way it was written.

I LOVE this family, the bond they share & the way that bond grows & stretches to include new members into the family is beautiful. The way friendships are represented, emotions and love aren't hidden or made "less." Big emotions & demonstrative love are shared often. ❤️

Nate & Maddie are 🌶🔥🌶🔥 & their banter is spicy and sweet & I enjoyed them! They both have healing to do & once they're reunited, they work on that healing. Another thing I like about them is that they both DO put in the necessary work to heal their bond.

And the direction they go in at the end is another beautifully written part of their story & the overall family saga of this series. I'm looking forward to continuing these stories!!

😍😍😍

Wow! What a masterpiece, I was dying for Nate’s story, but I didn’t expect it this much from him, this man took my heart within the first pages and never gave it back. It’s an incredible story, a roller coaster of emotions that makes you rethink everything.

I can’t get over the devotion this man had for Maddie, the way he suffered through years of heartbreak and never gave up on his love for her. If you look up the meaning of a perfect man in the dictionary you will find Nate’s name there.

From the start, I knew this book would break my heart, but I didn’t know how much they were going through to have their HEA, it was heartbreaking, beautiful, and a very emotional story. Reading glimpses of Camila in this book was just the cherry on top.

Maddie & Nate will always be in my mind, the way they were meant to be, their journey, and their endless love for each other.

I am obsessed with JR Gale’s writing and I am anxiously waiting for the next one! The story, the characters, and the spice were absolutely extraordinary and I loved every second of this book.

Soulmates that took fifteen years to finally get there!

Maddie and Nate met when they were teenagers at summer camp by chance, and it was love at first sight. Plans were made, and it seemed like they were going to beat the odds and be that couple that makes it. Until Nate breaks up with Maddie, albeit for a good-ish reason, and they’re apart for a decade. Now in the same town, and Maddie working for Nate and his brother’s company, it’s time to face the past and get it all out there. The only problem, Maddie’s engaged to another man. But once this small snag gets resolved, it’s almost smooth sailing, pun intended, once you’ve read the book, for these two. That is, until it seems someone’s after Maddie or Nate.

Nate and Maddie get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.

While this is a standalone book, I do recommend reading book one first for some background on all the characters and to see Nate’s pining from one of his brothers’ perspectives. I loved how instantaneous the connection was between Nate and Maddie, and the heartbreak that happened was so evident through the page as well. While I hated it, I also agreed with why Nate and Maddie’s brother thought it was necessary to happen. It would be interesting to know if Maddie ever told her mom about her side hustle or if that stayed with the Davenport/Morales family as a family secret. I can’t wait to see which other siblings find their forever and when, and I hope Maddie’s brother gets included as well.

Nate and Maddie are the definition of soulmates. Their childhood love was soft, sweet, and full of those nostalgic summer moments.

The romance starts off soft and nostalgic, then grows into such a beautiful second chance story. The summer camp setting adds the coziest vibe, and their first love moments were genuinely adorable. Seeing them reconnect and heal years later made it even more satisfying

Maddie is such a relatable FMC, a hopeless romantic but also ambitious, chasing her dream of becoming an architect in NYC. When Nate crashes back into her life, she doesn’t want to want hiM but those feelings never really left. Watching her struggle between love and fear of being hurt again was so real.

And can we talk about the found family?? The Davenport-Morales crew owns my heart. They’re not all bound by blood, but the love and loyalty between them is everything. Camila especially had me tearing up I loved reading about her.

A truly beautiful second chance love story.

Thank you Hambright PR for the gifted ARC!

Oh how I love love LOVED this book. I didn’t necessarily love all the plot points but it was so well written that it made up for my frustration. I was frustrated with the characters making stupid decisions, not the writing which was phenomenal. I cursed, I laughed, I smiled with hearts in my eyes. Even my mom was visiting and said she hadn’t heard me laugh so much reading a book in a long time. Nate and Maddie were so cute at the beginning and even cuter at the end. That ten year middle gap though was FRUSTRATING and Mason pissed me off butting in. But my favorite part about them getting back together was that they hadn’t been with anyone else sexually the whole time they were apart. That was so sweet. I loved getting to know Camila better and the drama of the stalker. Also that poor old woman. I still hope Nate and Maddie have a biological child of their own with all their other girls. I can’t wait to see Leo fall in love next and want to know more about Seb and this mystery person he keeps texting. I love this family and can’t wait to visit them again!

This book is a must read one for those who love second chance romance. The characters building and plots are well written. You'll feel the emotions of every character including side characters too. Nate Davenport is a demolition expert, specifically when it comes to the walls Maddie Grace spent ten years building. The tension "we have a history " between them will make you crave for one more chapter.
If you’re looking for a second-chance romance that actually has some professional grit, banter, slow-burn & spice, Mr. Persistent by J.R. Gale is the one to pick up.
It's the one of the best "Brother’s Best Friend" trope book I've ever read. Maddie Grace Cunningham, sweet stubborn and driven woman who finally try to moved on. at a summer camp when Maddie is sixteen. Nathaniel Davenport is wealthy, off-limits, sweet, sexy, persistent of course and her brother's best friend.

It's the second book in "The Bonded Brothers Series", so don't forget to read Mr unexpected for the story of Harrison Davenport & Juliette Davenport.

This is a masterclass of “it’s always been you” 2nd chance love story. Nate & Madeline meet as teenagers, and it’s instant. From the first moment you know they’re meant to be.
And surprisingly their young love really was built to stand the tests of time, distance, and more.

But life…. Stupid life, and people who think they know best. And in their time apart, Nate never wavers, he never doubts, he always respects Maddie. So it’s so sweet when they find their way back to each other.

The underlying connection between these two & all of the rest of the family is so tender. It makes me so excited to see the love stories that will play out for our remaining brothers (J.R. — hope we get to Mason too! I have a theory for his love that I’m hoping I’m right about!)

Thank you HambrightPR and JRGale for the ARC!
What a whirlwind of a story, we go back right to the beginning and what a story!
Nate is honestly the best written ultimate book boyfriend I have ever read. Like seriously, this man does not exist in the real world. He ticks literally every single box, and he is the star of this book.
Maddie for me was quite frustrating through this book, and honestly is the reason why I rated this a four star. There was moments where I understood her, but others where I wanted to stab my kindle of annoyance for her flippancy.
In the end it was a great book and I enjoyed the back ground mystery that JRGale is obviously so amazing at threading in.
🌶️🌶️ about a 2 chilli pepper for me.
❤️❤️❤️

Also I cannot wait for Leo’s and Seb’s books, they are both my stand outs from this series and I can just tell their books will be another level!

Phew 😮‍💨 I finally finished this emotional roaster book.. It was so long, but i seriously loved it so much. I connected to Nate and Maddie instantly when they were teenagers and watching them grow up to finally get there second chance ten years later.. The miscommunication I have to say was done so well, like I typically get mad with miscommunication but in this I didn’t at all. 😁

I cried.. I cried I think 4 or 5 times. The fifth time was happy tears though 🥹

If you love second chance, emotional, billionaire romance this is for you.

JR your writing is phenomenal and that added suspense was just chef kiss 💋

Mr. Persistent delivers an intense and emotionally charged reading experience centered around a relationship dynamic that is as compelling as it is complex.

The story explores persistence in a way that feels both magnetic and, at times, unsettling, blurring the line between desire and control. The chemistry between characters is strong, and the tension is maintained consistently throughout, making it difficult to put down.

What stood out most was how the narrative invites readers to question what they’re witnessing rather than simply accept it. It adds a layer of depth that keeps the story engaging beyond just the romance itself.

A solid read for those who enjoy morally complex characters and darker emotional themes.

A good second chance read!
Maddie and Nate met during Summer Camp. Her brother said it would change her life forever and it sure did.
We get to see how they met when they were a teenager. Maddie with big dreams and Nate running.
It was nice reading this, but then I was likw: can we get forward in time. It felt a bit slow, but then it started to get forward.
This book is instant love and the title? Oh yeah! Nate truely is Mr. Persistent!
So many things click in place when they finally get together again.
I also like to know if we get to know who bought the large glass sculpture. Or I just totally missed it.
As I thought it was going to be Nate. We'll never know or maybe in one of the next books.

Great read!

Some books whisper nostalgia. This one grabs you by the heart, drags you back through time, and dares you to feel everything all over again.

Mr. Persistent by J.R. Gale is the kind of second-chance romance that doesn’t just simmer—it haunts. It lingers in the quiet spaces between chapters, in the ache of what was lost, and in the fragile hope of what might still be rebuilt.

Maddie and Nate? Absolute emotional warfare—in the best way. Their story begins with that intoxicating, forbidden, first-love intensity: brother’s best friend, summer heat, dreams sketched out like blueprints for a forever they were too young to protect. And when it shatters? It doesn’t just break—it echoes.

Fast forward ten years, and the tension is thicker, sharper, and laced with history that refuses to stay buried. Maddie is strong but still carrying scars, and Nate… Nate walks back into her life like a man who knows exactly what he lost—and has no intention of losing it again.

What makes this story shine is the emotional layering. The past and present weave together seamlessly, like architectural lines forming something both delicate and unshakable. Every interaction feels loaded, every glance heavy with “what if” and “almost.”

And when the truth finally unfolds? It hits like a slow-building storm finally breaking—messy, cathartic, and completely worth it.

✨ The chemistry: electric, aching, unresolved in the most delicious way
✨ The angst: top-tier, soul-crushing, chef’s kiss
✨ The payoff: deeply satisfying and earned

This isn’t just a romance—it’s a story about timing, forgiveness, and the kind of love that refuses to stay in the past, no matter how hard you try to leave it there.

If you love second chances, emotional depth, and characters who feel real enough to miss when you’re done, this one will absolutely own a piece of your heart.
