Qaid: The Unknown
Demi menyelesaikan satu kes pembunuhan bersiri, Amra bertemu kembali dengan musuh sejatinya, Ketua Detektif Diraja Aqtar – Damien Qaid. Dari mula detik pertemuan itu, mereka sentiasa bercakaran. Amra tak sesekali mahu mengalah. Damien pula sengaja mahu Amra kalah.

Ok well this was my first read of Effalee's book. So far bila I baca buku ni kan I tercari cari di mana chemistry between Qaid and Amra ni. Sebabnya macam tiba tiba dah suka sama suka pula hahah. I pun macam.. Hah? When did that happen? 🙂 Tak ada selit langsung about their character development mcm mana start jatuh cinta yada yada semua tu
Also, I tak dapat nak betul betul grasp the view of Aqtar dan Adhara. Dahlah author cuma describe dekat permulaan bab saja. Bila baca ayat2 dlm bab permulaan pasal 2 negara tu rasa dah mcm baca buku teks sejarah. Sempatlah tertidur kejap masa baca tu. Tak byk pun pengembangan cerita tentang 2 negara ni dlm bab lain.
Ok next, the only thing yang buat I rasa nak continue baca lagi buku ni was the friendship between the trio Qaid, Haqq and Taqi. I nak sgt tahu apa jadi dgn Taqi. Apa kesudahan hidup dia? That's it??
Also, I tak taulah kan if is it only me but I want to point out that sesetengah dialog mcm agak childish and a bit cringey. You are writing about an adult romance story. 30 tahun ke atas pula tu bukannya umur budak2 sekolah lagi ya. Tu yang sikit2 rasa mcm eh cringe nya dialog ni 😭 And ada part ulang "perempuan gila" entah keberapa byk kali like enough ya tak perlu ulang byk kali
Last but not least, the plot twist. Bagi I not bad. Terkejut juga bila tahu who the villain was sebab I memang tak expect langsung. Betullah org kata musuh kita ni sebenarnya adalah org yg berada disekeliling kita je. Oklah ada juga terselit pengajaran kat situ. 1⭐ for that.
So yeah, overall 2/5⭐.

I just feel like her writing style is not something I would enjoy reading (faktor usia mungkin) and I don't think I'm gonna buy her other books, Idk. Plot, setting dlm buku ni dah nice tapi sayang seribu kali sayang olahan cerita kurang menarik minat saya.

First of all, i rasa plot dalam cerita ni biasa je. Dia macam okay but not that good tapi i suka the plot twist sebab kita memang takkan expect who is the real villain in this story.
Secondly, the chemistry between Damien and Amra, where is it? Kenapa i tak dapat feel the love. Love story dorang pun agak mendatar dan tak menarik dan ada jugak a few scenes yang a bit cringe.
Yang menghidupkan lagi cerita ni ialah friendship between Damien, Taqi dan Haq. I sangatt invested in their friendship. I always tertunggu apa yang Taqi nak buat lagi lepas ni sebab dia memang rare and mystery. I harap one day, author akan tulis kisah pasal dia pulak. Overall, i enjoy baca. Cuma i tak puas sebab ending dia buat i sedih haha

F tetap nak kasi 5 stars eventhou F not satisfied with the ending. Tapi sebab F suka sangat dengan watak Taqi, terus tutup mata jela part tu.
I can imagine Taqi dok rolling his eyes bila Damien dengan Haqq dok busy gossip pasal dia. Kelakar giler! Taqi ni memang mischievous, notty boy but smart and I swear F banyak gelak bila scene dia muncul.
Cerita ni thriller with plot twist yang F tak jangka langsung. Bila reveal siapa the real villain, F macam “No way!”
Diorang ni kalau berjumpa memang macam kucing dengan anjing. Time Prof nak cari bodyguard, Amra pulak merengek suruh Damien responsible... But when Damien finally came up with that plan terus Amra terdiam!
Relationship diorang memang slowburn tapi Damien’s character development is chef’s kiss. Sweet sangat! Ada la sikit cringe moment tapi F tak kisah... F tersengih² je macam orang angau.
Scene selfie dalam hujan tu… ya Allah, F tersenyum sensorang pukul 3 pagi. asallah comel sangat
Ada juga part sedih... bila Sultan Herman passed away in a tragically. Haqq jumpa ayahanda dia dengan kesan tikaman... lepas tu tengok rakaman video... heartbreak tapi entah kenapa F tergelak sikit jugak . Emotional rollercoaster betul.
But honestly, the strongest part of this story is friendship trio Damien, Haqq and Taqi. F berharap satu hari nanti diaorang boleh peluk each other and heal together. That would be the closure we all need.
F still tak boleh move on dengan watak Taqi. cute sangat!

Selalu berhenti baca kejap and tengok cover buku untuk pastikan betul ke Effalee yang tulis. Sebab honestly disappointing betul jalan ceritanya. Beza betul dengan novel TT and CC. Damien dengan Amra tak ada chemistry langsung. The only best part adalah friendship Damien-Haqq-Taqi.

One word. Mind-blowing 🤯 plot twist cerita ni tak rilek eh. Masuk part akhir² tu bila segalanya terungkai aku terkejut sangat, sebab langsung tak expect please I'm so bad at this.😭 It was a good read btw.
Sebelum aku baca novel ni ada terbaca satu dua review cakap they don't find the chemistry between Amra and Qaid.. and tbh yes, I felt the same too. But aku tetap suka dengan character dorang. Satu kuat mengusik, satu lagi kuat melawan memang ngam lah dua orang ni. Side characters yang aku suka pula ialah Haqq and Taqi 😍 Haqq is a very loyal friends, poor this man dia dah kehilangan banyak orang yang dia sayang.🥺 Taqi pula nakal but broken 💔 in the inside, ma man need a hug for sure. 🥺🫂 Tapi aku paling tak boleh blah dia boleh buat video 'hey welcome to my YouTube channel!' 😭 hilarious lah Taqi ni. 🤣
This whole book punya world building I can see it, penulis cuba buat world building macam 'Wakanda' punya and I think it's a good try. ❤️ Cerita ni I can say it's a roller coaster read for me, but not too extreme. 🤭 Penulis punya humor macam biasa menjadi and some of the scene in this book very funny 😭 make me giggling af. 🤣
Disebabkan aku dah pernah baca karya penulis sebelum ni dekat Wattpad so aku boleh masuk dengan penulisan dia. Overall novel ni menarik! And I'm looking forward to read the second book in this series.🤍Recommended.🔥

Dalam menjejaki misteri dan kebenaran tersebut, mereka terpaksa memilih antara dua jalan. Jalan yang hampir nemisahkan mereka.
Dapatkah mereka membuat keputusan yang betul?

Another masterpiece from Effalee guys! 😍❤️🔥
For some reason, I like this book more than her previous book. Maybe because it's written it 3rd POV kot. So nampaklah yang penulisan dia jauh lebih matang. Dia jadi lagi serious.
Especially the female lead- Amra. God, I LOVE HER! She's independent and have a strong aura you know. We stan independent woman! ❤️🔥
Even though buku ni lagi serious, but still ada ya sedikit rom-com & jokes yang terselit dalam buku ni. Siapa lagi klau bukan antara Amra & Damien! Diorang kalau jumpa je dah macam cat dog. Asyik gaduh aje! 🤣
Other than that, buku ni juga membawa sedikit kelainan daripada buku ii sebelum ni which it's involved 2 different countries (setting). Dalam buku ni, setting dia ada 2 tempat which is Kerajaan Aqtar & Kerajaan Adhara. Yang membuatkan cerita ni menarik lagi, sebab kedua-dua kerajaan ni mempunyai fahaman dan ideologi yang berbeza. Boleh dikatakan yang mereka ni musuh.
Ditambah lagi dengan elemen penyiasatan, memang membuatkan kita lagi tertarik la nak baca. Buku ni, even dia packed with information about both countries, tapi dia tak draggy sangat pun. Sebab penulis tak menyumbat semua info tu dalam satu bab. Dia letak info tu sikit-sikit that's why la senang nak hadam.
The chemistry between the main lead itself, Amra & Damien tu memang SLOW BURN HABIS. Diorang punya relationship tu memang banyak melibatkan emosi. Korang akan rasa kelakar, blushing, sedih, and ada juga scene diorang yang membuatkan kita rasa SCHOCKED TERUK YA. 😭🤌
Buku ni srs memang banyak PLOT TWIST that you might didn't expect about it. Percayalah cakap kita yang semua watak tu memang memainkan peranan sampai habis.
Other than the romance itself, buku ni pun banyak menceritakan pasal FRIENSHIP. Love gila friendship tiga ketul tu- Damien, Taqi, & Haqq. (KETEPI SEMUA, HAQQ SAYA PUNYA OK. KITER DAH COP DULU!! 🤣🤣🤣) Haqq tu sangatlah hijau sehijau hutan amazon. Tak sabarnya nak baca kisah dia pulak. Taqi pulak, THE MOST UNEXPECTED CHARACTERS in the book. Memula kita agak annoyed gila dengan dia ni. Rasa nak hempuk, tapi bila dah baca lama ii tu barulah faham why he's ended being like that.

The romance pulak, YA ALLAH terasa la single tu bila baca buku ni. Lepas je diorang kahwin dia punya manis tu, semut pun boleh kerumun. DAMIEN SANGATLAH ACT OF SERVICE YA. 😭 Gaduh ii pun sayang jugak dekat bini ye. Siap tanya Haqq lagi mcm mana nak pujuk isteri. 🙈

Cuma satu je, towards the end tu, character Ayyash macam menghilang dari radar. (Idk, maybe kita tak perasan ke apa tapi rasa mcm kejap je screen time dia.) And since pembunuh4n bersiri dalam buku ni melibatkan golongan Down Syndrome, it would be nice if it's was written and focus more on it rather than the kerajaan and the romance. (Just my opinion okay)

Pacing buku ni tersangat laju tapi dalam masa yang sama dapat buat aku enjoy dengan plot.
The only downside is aku rasa detach dengan the 'world' Aqtara & Adhara. Since the book ade label siri Aqtara so I am assuming there might be few books(?) coming, I kinda hope the author explores more about the world building sebab sepanjang pembacaan aku tak boleh nak imagine langsung world building siri ni
in terms of characters, I invested more with the friendship between Qaid, Haqq and Taqi compared dengan main love story, maybe because I didn't like Amra that much.
Taqi is the character yang aku fully interested in. I want to know more about him, hopefully ada buku pasal dia in future

1. Ada vibe “Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton” especially part “I want you Amna!”. Serta merta teringat, King George to Queen Charlotte, “I want you! My heart call your name!!”

5. Suka persahabatan antara Taqi-Haq-Damien. Especially the last scene. Love that so much. Tapi kadangkala, terasa persahabatan mereka macam perempuan dari segi dialogue, gurauan, touching-touching. Tak normal ye, lelaki friendship potray begitu. Sangat girly and unless mereka gay🤣
6. Part Istana ada CCTV where seluruh Aqtar dapat diakses di situ, abit disappointed for me. For me, dah ada CCTV kenapa polis diraya tak guna sahaja fasiliti itu utk tangkap Damien? Like what? Si Damien tu siap keluar berjalan-jalan kot di luar rumah??! Klu betul CCTV where every spot at Aqtar boleh dilihat, macam mana Taqi boleh merayau-rayau tanpa ditangkap dan tidak diketahui location? The fact of CCTV tu, tak patut wujud for me.
6.Overall enjoyable. I love dialogue between Amra-Damien. Damine so likable! Walaupun forced marriage agak cliche pada zaman novel and wattpad ni, their progress still enjoyable to read.
7. Amra character just so-so for me. Tak adalah tak suka, tapi tak adalah suka sangat. Walaupun seorang peguam, Amra tidak memainkan watak sangat. Like, peguam itu hanya atas nama sahaja. Amra macam kebanyakan heroin dalam novel cinta sahaja.Taqi-Damien friendship gives more butterfly. Taqi deserve his own book where he play as main character. Saya harap heroin Taqi had more unique and prominent personality

Gosh, spent literally a month to finish this (rolling my eyes like D lol).
So far okay² saja cerita ni, berbanding dengan last two books, aku rasa lawak benak ubi yg menjadi trade mark cik author berkurang dengan drastiknya dalam karya kali ni. Yg bertambah pulak level of cringe nya. Ya ampun, engkau lah yg terpaling cinta. Masalahnya masa mana start bercinta pun tak tau, hairan aku. Tbh, aku lebih rela mereka saling bercakaran, sebab kat situ nampak lebih genuine dialognya dan mencuit hati.
Regarding persahabatan antara 3 trio tu hmmm boleh lah interesting la jugak mainan emosinya. Taqi tu like a genius man stucks in badan kanak² ribena.
Dari segi alur cerita, plotnya fast paced, dan plot twist? Agak kebaboom la considering ada scene di mana author berjaya mempermainkan perasaan aku. Cuma jujurnya tekaan aku tentang siapa penjahat sebenar dah betul, it's just i can't predict the reasons behind it. So, adalah elemen kejutan di situ.
Pujian boleh diberikan kerana almost no spelling errors can be found, and punya lah misteri identiti ML sampaikan aku syak dia alien KAHKAH.
Minus 2 ⭐ sebab selain tak tahan dengan level of cringeness and cheesyness dia, terlalu banyak repetition words and dialogues yang aku rasa tak perlu. Yg paling dahsyat adalah no chemistry between the main leads at all. I repeat AT ALL! Mungkin boleh ditambahbaik dalam naskhah akan datang, the sparks need to be there. Overall, fun reading!

I guess I really like this genre of novels? It keeps you wondering what happens next. Because it's like all three of Effalee's novels, I finished them all in ±24 hours. There are so many plot twists, some I expected and some I didn't. To Taqi, I hope you get better. He's a good man who just wants justice. Okay, goodnight

Seperti biasa, romcom dan Effalee berpisah tiada. Cerita bermula dengan seorang peguam bernama Amra yang terpaksa bekerjasama dengan detektif polis, Damien Qaid. Musuh sejak di universiti.
Kes pembunuhan bersiri yang berlaku di Aqtar. Dalam aksi kejar mengejar, Damien turut memburu memori lama— tentang siapa sebenarnya Damien.
Amra turut membantu Damien walaupun sejuta kali dia berkata benci. Akhirnya cinta berputik. Saat nyawa menjadi taruhan, mereka berdua bergabung menentang kejahatan.
Penulisan Effalee semakin matang. Ini dibuktikan dengan garapan kemas kisah persahabatan antara Damien, Haqq dan Taqi. Berbanding karya sebelum ini, persahabatan mereka lebih memberi kesan di hati. Saya suka watak Taqi. Hampir sama dengan watak Obi dalam anime Snow White with Red Hair.

wow saya habis... after banyak kali rasa malas nak baca. bila dah baca rasa nak dnf pula. bila tengah baca rasanya banyak pulak aku skim tapi yeay saya dah habis hoho 🥰
permulaan cerita dah hooked me actually. maybe sebab now in almost reading slump mood so agak slow nak habiskan.
apa yang saya suka, walaupun kisah ini fantasy thriller - tahniah, sebab author tak guna nama yang pelik. semuanya masih normal. second, tak terlalu fantasy sangat. masih boleh diterima.
apa yang saya kurang berpuas hati - bila masuk pertengahan cerita, aik? bakpo fokus on romance ni adoi kita nak tahu pasal misteri sajo. maybe author nak masukkan romance but for me dia macam tiber sangat and the chemistry is not chemistry-ING. rasa macam dibuat-buat. tbh, chemistry between qaid dengan taqi lagi menyerlah. hahahahah sampai saya igt taqi ni syok dekat qaid #bukanBL
dari gaya taqi pun saya boleh agak dia ni handsome. dia goofy juga. suka lah villains yang goofy rasa nak culik bawak masuk poket. yang haqq pulak macam terlalu polos dan baik? entahlah -

After DNFing two English books in a row, I honestly felt quite disappointed with myself. It felt a little like I was giving up on reading, even though deep down I knew I wasn’t. Sometimes a book is simply not for us.
So I decided to switch to a Malay novel, and I picked up Qaid: The Unknown.
And wow… this was exactly the reading boost I needed. 😂❤️
The language was easy to understand, the story was fast paced, and I just kept flipping the pages. I could honestly sit and read this for hours because every chapter made me want to know what happened next.
At first, I had no idea who Qaid really was. He just appeared as this mysterious, rough man who kept arguing with Amrah. 😂 But their interactions became one of my favourite parts of the book. The way they teased, argued and slowly started caring for each other was SO entertaining. There were parts where I actually laughed out loud. Their romance was sweet and slow burn, appearing little by little instead of taking over the whole story, which I really enjoyed.
And then the story became much bigger than I expected.
There were so many characters, Qaid, Amrah, Haq, Kai, Taki and others, and towards the end I really had to slow down and read properly because I wanted to understand who was actually responsible for everything. At one point I suspected Haq. Then I thought Taki was the main problem. And then… KAI. 😭😂
What stayed with me most was how the cruelty of one ruler could affect so many people. His actions did not hurt only one person. They created suffering, anger, revenge and misunderstandings that eventually connected so many of the characters. Some people who might have been different under other circumstances ended up carrying so much hatred because of what had happened to them.
I really enjoyed this one. Fast paced, funny, mysterious, romantic without being too much, and full of twists that kept me reading.
After two DNFs, Qaid: The Unknown reminded me of something important: maybe I wasn’t losing my love for reading at all.
I just needed the right book. ❤️📖

Inilah fantasi yg kita nak baca. Seperti terbahagi kepada 3 cerita. Tapi, disusun kemas dgn penulisan yg sedap. Pace pun lancar dan laju. Leka bila dah mula baca, tak nak berhenti! Malah saya sendiri tak nak habiskan cerita ni sebab best sgt!
Damien Qaid, saya rasa dia ni kerek, selamba dan kadang2 fragile walau susah pecah berderai. Dia dgn Amra tak habis2 nak bercakaran. Masing2 pun 2x5 je perangai. Mulut boleh tahan minta cili juga dorang ni. Amra yg nak bekerjasama dgn Qaid pun stress sbb tak banyak membantu.
Tak boleh nak cerita banyak nanti terspoil. Bahagian tengah draggy sikit tapi still best. Masa ni rahsia terbongkar sikit demi sikit sampai kita pun wow bila tahu hal sebenar. Bila ikut si putera raja balik negara asal, time ni saya rasa cerita makin menarik. Macam mana dia buktikan pendirian dia dgn style dia sendiri. Memang kita pun bersorak tgk perangai dia. Haha
Plot twist pun boleh tahan jahat. Walau ramai kata predictable tapi saya suka cara penulis main tuding2 jari tu. Bila dah tau, rasa terhibur sikit sbb saya pun terpedaya dgn penulis😂 Watak Taqi paling hidup walau suka selit sana sini. Personaliti dia mcm Joker. Gila2 punya perangai. Dia punya gurau boleh buat orang check in hospital!
Awal cerita je saya tak berapa gemar watak Damien dan Amra sbb dorang nampak mcm kebudak-budakkan sikit. Tapi lepas tu dah okay nampak matang dan serius. Ada masa berbunga2 sikit melayan. So buku ni best no doubt guys!

I'm surprised there's no other reviews yet hehe. I think this book is better than TT and CC but idk how to put into words on why i prefer the characters in Qaid than the other two books, huhu my bad. I guess I just like the banters between Damien and Amra and the minimal corny jokes here unlike the ones in CC and TT.
I did suspect *** since the very beginning and the author managed to make me ponder about my suspicion when Ivan said something about Haqq, I was like 'ehh janganlaaa dia yg jahat?!' Thankfully it was really the one i suspected from the beginning.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! I guess there's gonna be another book from this series soon?? Since it's called Aqtara series? Goodluck Effalee!

Cerita mengenai Kerajaan Hestan, yang terpisah menjadi 2 kerajaan, Aqtar dan Adhara. Cerita dimulai dengan siasatan kes pembunuhan bersiri, yang mana, akhir novel baru terungkai siapa dalang pembunuhan tersebut. Suka dengan watak Haqq, seorang kawan yang setia, sangat membantu. Haqq is cute.

The plot was chef kisss ughhh and I love both Amra and Qaid jssushsgsyussushshshshshsh
as usual Effalee work will always have a lot of plot twist which I love it soo muchhhh and I know that some people I read on goodreads don't really like the way she joke between a serious situation, well in my opinion I think it was fineee , good way indeed to make the problem lighter and avoid pergaduhan hahahh.

First of all, this is my first time writing a 'serious' book review here. Apologies in advance.
I felt like this book here is much better than the previous book that I read from Effalee which is Cuisine's Chef. The reason might be because I find Qaid less cringe. However there are certain parts that I felt were missing. The pacing is too fast for me and there's a plot hole that didn't answer my question why this happened and how. I believe that Qaid shouldn't be a stand-alone, a number of crises shouldn't be just thrown in. However, the book sleeves (?) stated 'Siri Aqtara', so I figured it was a series rather than a standalone.
Taqi Mikhyariq is the only thing that keeps me going 🫶. I like the relationships that take place there as well. Not to mention the camaraderie between the three of them (Damien, Haqq and Taqi) or the bond between Damien and Amra. I adore how they always support one another. Additionally, the development of Damien and Amra's relationship. The character's development. Damien's approach. What a perfect man Haqq is and so on.
I can guess the plot twist from hundreds pages before but it still didn't make me want to quit or what. Which proves how interesting the plot and the world building is. There's also many lessons that we can get from this book.
Overall, it's the best book I've ever read from Effalee and I can see that the author did improve her writings. You're doing a great job author! I'll wait for the next books. Anddd i expected to know more about the kerajaan since it didn't satisfy me enough:(

1) Permulaan cerita best. Rasa macam okay this gonna be good. Tapi pertengahan cerita agak draggy sampai lupa hala tuju cerita ni. Aku sampai confuse mana buku ni nak bawa aku. Kejap sana kejap sini.
2) Imagine baca conflict between North Korea + South Korea tapi South Korea tu negara islam. And North Korea tu Firaun yang perintah. Mungkin penulis ambil ilham dari kisah Nabi Musa. Aku harapkan ada originality sebenarnya but still good try boleh ingatkan kita tentang kisah nabi.
3) Dialog macam baca buku komsas sekolah. Too formal. Dialog Qaid bila dengan Amra pada mulanya sedap baca. Lama lama tone percakapan dia dah macam sama dengan semua watak. Taqi pula agak cringe.
4) Plot twist okay. Memang unexpected tapi tergelak sikit kat plot twist hujung tu. Watak untuk plot twist kalau boleh bagi lebih emotional impact pada watak utama lagi best
5) Nak Dnf dah tapi habiskan juga sebab nak tahu ending je. Macam makan onde onde tapi inti gula pasir

This book was amazing, the characters were also very attractive. I felt so happy. This book makes me cry too. The storyline is the best. I really like Damien Qaid's attitude, he was kind and concern to Amra Adrina. I also like the closeness and friendship between Damien Qaid and Haqq. They were always there for each other. But, I really want the author to continue the story between Damien Qaid, Haqq and Taqi Mikhyariq. However, the story was mind-blowing and amazing. I really recommend this book!

this story is about dua buah kerajaan Aqtar & Adhara yang terpisah kerana perbezaan ideologi tetapi masih terikat dengan sejarah silam.
okay let’s talk about the background story first. what I really love is the world-building where penulis menggambarkan kekejaman dan kezaliman seorang pemerintah dan satu lagi pemerintah yang adil dan saksama. dua background yang berbeza antara dua buah kerajaan yang mengingatkan saya kepada zaman pemerintahan Firaun and at the same time, conflict antara dua kerajaan ni pun ada sedikit vibes seperti hubungan antara South Korea & North Korea.
another thing yang saya suka dalam buku ni is the elemen dakwah yang diselitkkan dalam cerita ni. ada beberapa bahagian yang mengingatkan saya kepada kisah para nabi yang berdakwah untuk menyebarkan agama Islam. I genuinely love this part because it reminds me that Islam is such a beautiful religion. cerita ni juga menggambarkan bagaimana seorang pemimpin bukan sahaja bertanggungjawab mentadbir kerajaan tetapi juga memimpin rakyatnya ke arah kebaikan dan menyebarkan dakwah.
I appreciate Effa Lee sebab selitkan ayat al-Quran dan hadis at the end of each chapter yang berkaitan dengan isi bab tersebut. it adds so much meaning to the story because it allows readers to reflect on the lessons behind each chapter instead of just reading it as another fantasy novel.
okay now lets talk about the characters. Damien yang awalnya sombong and mulut kata benci Amra but he is the one who fell first, fell harder and fell DEEPER. and dia juga yang beria nak kahwin dengan Amra like sir please make up your mind juseyo.
as for Amra, for me dia ada sikit perangai ego-ego manja dengan perasaan dia sendiri. dia bukanlah nonchalant, dia suka je tapi malu malu nak express gitu. nothing much abt them. I know ive seen some reviews saying they couldnt really feel the chemistry between Damien & Amra, but to each their own. personally, saya rasa scene dorang together sangat cute it made me giggles. they had so many memorable lines that made me smile.
“Kalau aku takut kehilangan kau, sepatutnya aku lindungi kau. Bukan lari daripada kau.” - Damien
“Aku takkan tinggalkan kau. Aku takkan biarkan kau sendirian. Aku akan selalu ada untuk kau. Tak kira apa pun. Thumby promise.” - Amra
and ofc THE CONFESSION SCENE! the desperation… the yearning… the willingness to leave behind power, status and everything just to be with the person you love.
“I want you, Amra!”
“I was looking for a way to leave all this. I was looking for a way to be with you.”
“I don’t want to be king, Amra. I want to be your husband.”
“I want to be yours.”
“Aku tak perlukan semua status dan kedudukan ni. Aku tak nak semua ni.”
“Aku sayangkan kau, Amra. Aku cuma nak kau.”
all the dialogues giving i'd let the world burn just to be with you energy. and this part absolutely made me kick my feet in the air. sebenarnya damien ni cheeky and corny when it comes to love and his Amra hahahahaha
“You have the face I want to grow old with. You have the hair that I wish to see turn grey. You have the eyes that I wish would never blink so that I could stare at them forever.”
“After this, they’ll know that I’m yours. They will know that their king is occupied, married, wedded, unsingle, happy, very happy and very, very happy.”
another thing I absolutely enjoyed was the friendship between Haqq, Qaid & Taqi. 3 sekawan with completely different personalities but that’s exactly what made their friendship so beautiful. each of them brought a different aura to the story and every scene involving them was genuinely enjoyable. this book juga banyak focus pada friendship 3 orang ni.
untuk permulaan cerita saya boleh katakan sedikit slow-paced tapi takdelah slow mana. as for the plot, personally I think it was quite average. nothing too mind-blowing. but I have to admit, I almost fell for the Taqi’s accusation ya. and untuk part villain reveal tu i takdelah terkejut sangat sebab macam boleh agak but overall it was quite okay.
the only part yang buat i questioned ialah scene pembunuhan dalam istana. personally, saya rasa kawalan keselamatan istana agak longgar sebab orang luar boleh menceroboh masuk dan terus membunuh sultan. that part was a little hard for me to believe sebab kawalan istana selalu ketat and tak mudah untuk orang luar menceroboh.
Overall: 4.5/5 ⭐️
kudos to Effa Lee because I can genuinely see a huge improvement compared to her earlier books. personally, buku penulis yang sebelum ni sedikit childish in terms of dialogue between the characters but this one? the writing feels much more mature and more engaging. it kept me wanting to turn the pages and I’m genuinely happy to witness her growth as a writer.
semoga Effa Lee terus istiqamah berkarya dan tidak pernah berputus asa untuk menghasilkan lebih banyak karya yang bukan sahaja menghiburkan, tetapi juga membawa manfaat, dakwah dan kebaikan kepada para pembaca. may Allah continue to bless your writing journey 🤍
