When I find out Evan Kelly is being targeted by the MC I used to belong to, I agree to protect him as a way to make up for my past Two problems with that plan. One , Evan Kelly doesn’t want to be protected. He fights me at every turn. Two, I want him. I want him bad, I try to ignore the flames of attraction that smolder between us, but then I’m forced to hide Evan at my cabin to save his life. A remote cabin in the woods . One bed. A man that I’m crazy about. Those flames of attraction can’t help igniting in to FIre.
I love Evan and Lucas story. They are so cute together and seeing how all the books interconnect together. I enjoyed all the books in the series and I hope there is more.
**I received an advanced copy from GRR for an honest review**
And we’re back to M/M books because I can’t seem to get away from them but this time it’s a novella! Yes, another one. <3
Luca is hired to protect Evan, a journalist who has been writing pieces about the Reivers gang and is a potential target. Luca is an ex-member of the gang, he was once in and had to survive to get out while Evan has been exposing everything they did in order to help take them down.
Both Luca and Evan suffered the consequences of being faced with the gang and the effect of their homophobia. Luca could not be himself and be with a man while Evan was targeted due to his sexual orientation. While working together Luca fights to let go of the ugly in his past and Evan fights to accept who he is. Luca started healing when he left the MC and he found himself on a journey to distance from that world, but Evan never got that chance. Through his writing, Evan had to keep facing the evil that the group caused in different ways. He never got a chance to not look over his shoulder. With Luca, Evan is able to start that process to let go of this connection. Luca accepts Evan for who he is and helps him start his journey to self-healing.
The novella is told through the POV of both Evan and Luca in alternate and we can see through Evan that he sabotages his feelings for Luca out of fear of being rejected. In the beginning, he doesn’t know if Luca will even be attracted to him since he does not know his orientation and feels bad for thirsting after him. Further into the plot, he grabs little things said by Luca to convince himself that Luca does not like him back. Luca, on the other hand, is not great at communicating and expressing feelings, which can be a consequence of that side of him being tucked away for so long while he was in the gang. It takes him a while to realise he can accept his feelings for Evan and they both deserve their happy ending. Luca starts as a tough guy but through love and sharing his emotions, he ends up being a softie. Evan starts pushing other people from his life and only doing casual flings and ends up accepting that he is worthy of love and a forever person.
“Fire” is a journey to healing, accepting one’s identity, and exploring our fears. Don’t be fooled by the hot cover, while there are plenty of spicy scenes, Luca and Evan's story delivers a lot more!
Luca and Evan’s story in Fire is an emotional journey of healing, self-acceptance, and love. Both men are haunted by the homophobia and trauma inflicted by the gang that shaped their lives. For Luca, leaving the MC was the first step toward reclaiming his identity and distancing himself from the ugliness of his past. Evan, however, never had that chance. Instead, he lived under the constant shadow of the gang’s actions, reliving their impact through his writing and never escaping the need to look over his shoulder.
When their paths cross, Luca helps Evan begin to let go of the pain tethering him to his past, offering him acceptance and a chance to heal. At the same time, Evan’s openness challenges Luca to embrace his emotions and break free from the stoicism he adopted while in the gang. It was so great to get more from Cash and Johnny as well.
Told through alternating POVs, we see both men wrestle with their feelings. Evan initially sabotages his budding emotions out of fear of rejection, convincing himself Luca wouldn’t reciprocate his attraction. On the other hand, Luca struggles to express his feelings, a lingering consequence of suppressing his true self for so long. But as they grow closer, both men embark on a transformative journey. Luca softens, letting love open him up in ways he never expected, while Evan learns he is worthy of love and a lasting connection.
Fire is so much more than its hot cover suggests. While it delivers on spice, it’s ultimately a heartfelt story about healing, embracing identity, and conquering fears. Luca and Evan’s love story proves that even in the aftermath of pain, happiness and redemption are possible. A must-read for fans of emotional romance with depth and passion!
I rated this novella 4.5 stars, so I rounded it up to 5 stars. enjoyed this Jagged Love Series novella. Evan an investigative reporter who has been writing amazing articles about all the shady sh*t that the Reivers MC has done for years is now in danger because they want him silenced once and for all. Luca, who is only one of two who have survived a Reivers culling is approached by Graves who was an Enforcer with the Reivers, who is actually Jack Navarro and was undercover trying to take down the Reivers with no luck. He wants Luca to help take them down once and for all.
Luca doesn’t want to step back into that life, well that’s until Grave shows him a picture of Evan, who is in danger due to the articles he’s been writing so Luca agrees to be Evan’s bodyguard. Luca already knows Evan and has been following his stories about the Reivers for years. To say that Evan is an a*sehole to Luca is an understatement but they eventually sort their sh*t out. I liked how their relationship progressed, even though it moved at warp speed. I also thought their chemistry was off the charts. I’m glad that Evan and Luca found each other. I’m really looking forward to reading more book from this series, as well as more books by Remi Varlow in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.
******I received a complimentary copy of this book through GRR. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******
Luca Doran has agreed to be the bodyguard of Evan Kelly. Evan’s articles about the Reivers MC have made him a target. When the attacks get to close to home, Luca takes him to his secluded cabin for his safety. The biggest problem is that there is only one bed and Luca is not sure he can keep his hands to himself.
Both men had a hard time believing they were worthy of each other. They spent a lot of time sabotaging the relationship. But when danger came calling, Luca was determined that no harm would come to Evan. These two were united in their unrecognized love and together they journeyed to find themselves and that love. The romance was beautiful, set in a backdrop of danger made the romance so much better. I know I shall be looking for more from this author and after reading this you will as well. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion.
Fire is a connected story to the Jagged Love series by Remi Varlow. This book was released in October 2024, but is set earlier in time in the series. Having just read Now, which was released in 2022, it was a little jarring to go back in time to earlier events here in this book. This story takes place before the MC is brought down and I already knew part of Evan’s story, as some of it was told in the earlier books. But he gets his HEA here, which even though he is in his 20s, is something he was waited a long time for.
My thought is that this book would be a little difficult to read on its own without any background, but is a good choice for a story of two lonely men who think they have nothing to offer getting the relationship of their dreams.
I adored the relationship build of these two, who are both connected to the same Mc club we've seen in previous books. Honestly this was a perfect addition to the "Jagged Love" series. Luca had my heart from the first page, he was an amazingly strong character to endure what he'd gone through and come out alive. This was a surprisingly emotional story and i found both men a bit broken but perfect for each other to heal and overcome the scars. These two were so sweet, the banter was fun and their chemistry was hot. I was incredibly happy for these two to grab onto their HEA and live without fear. I would recommend this book and I would suggest reading the whole series, it's been fantastic so far and I'm anxious for more.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
Evan is such a spitfire but he’s so sweet, just trying to do his job and help some of his new friends take down a corrupt mc club but his friends are worried so they find him a bodyguard, someone who know what’s what. Luca is fierce and very protective, he was approached by someone from his past about a job but he wanted nothing to do with it until he realized who he was protecting and why. Luca and Evan start off on a rough patch but the longer they are around each other even when they are having their spats the more they begin to fall in love, Luca started falling the moment he met Evan and Evan wasn’t far behind. I absolutely love this series and the circle of friends cash and Johnny have made so far. Can’t wait to see what’s next. ❤️😀
I love this entire series and each book just gets better. The plot that runs through the series is fascinating, with the mc and evil guys being confronted by the main couples. This couple is so cute, love the protector and human rights fighter narrative of the couple as they both fight to protect each other and what is right. Plus theres something about a traumatised strong and quiet man thats just such a draw in. It's such an easy read and I finished the entire book before I even realised. A strong recommendation for anyone looking for a series (can also be read as a standalone but I think it's better as a series).
One motorcycle gang has twisted the lives of two different men. Luca, once a member of the gang and Evan, a journalist whose written attempts to destroy the gang have made him a target for their revenge. As Luca tries to protect the resistant Evan, they are forced into hiding at Luca's remote cabin and this being a romance, things take their course from there. The emotional journey isn't easy for either of them, however, as neither feels worthy of love and both are unwilling to be the one to make the first move toward honestly expressing their feelings. Both the suspense and the romantic relationship were well developed and well balanced here.
It was a novella, so I thought it would be short, but nope; at least for me, it was like a full-length novel. Put that aside; I kinda like this story even with the violence in it; thankfully it was tolerable, but when Luca needed a distraction after he was running away from Evan, in the form of someone to bed, that someone was too much younger, only 18 years old, plus he looked scared and inexperienced, so Luca couldn't do it, but he intended to lightly kiss him on the lips before he did that; that stepbro of that young man stepped in. That thing Luca did was kind of a bad thing in my eyes, and he didn't even tell that little event to Evan.

This is the first book I’ve read from Remi Varlow and my first introduction to the Jagged Love Series and I really enjoyed it. Anything with the one bed, forced proximity troupe is always a winner for me and this didn’t disappoint. I loved the push and pull dynamic between the characters and didn’t mind how fast paced their relationship developed.
I found it easy by to follow along without reading the other books in the series and it’s peaked my interested into getting into the rest of the series
It’s plot driven, but with sizzling hotness and some emotional moments that had me all 🥹 So many beautiful written sentences in this story, in the dialogue between the characters! I’m in love 🥰
The writing is fantastic, this author has grown so much. And the story and pacing shows that she really have given it her all 💛
Love the characters, the way they grow and the way they fall in love 💛
Ive left too long between stories and forgotten what some of the characters wenr through.
However, thats not to say I didnt enjoy Evan and Lucas story. Though I really wanted to shake both men or bash their heads together. Poor Evan is rejected by everyone around him to the point he expects it. When Luca leaves as he feels compromised, it adds to Evans feeling of rejection. I think if Luca knew this he would have handled it differently
I read this as a standalone as didn't realise it was part of a series but I don't feel I missed out on anything. I do however now need to go and read the others! This was as the title implies, so hot! However alongside the heat we get a well written storyline that had plenty of heartfelt moments as we follow Luca and Evan’s emotional journey to love. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
I loved it so much!!1 Not enough stars! The fact that Luca and Evan's story coincides with One Day, a wonderful book that is Cash and Johnny's story made this book extra special for me. It's a twisted tale when it's all put together but I can't wait for more. this installment was great, with really good characters throughout. I loved it so much! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
He is about to have two problems when he meets them. They need protection from the mc gang he used to belong to. They do not want protection and he is so attracted to them that it will be hard to keep his hands off them. A hidden cabin with one bed is not going to help matters. See just how it will all go
The guys are at it again. Fighting corrupt politicians, an evil motorcycle gang, and a neo nazi hate group, Evan and his bodyguard Luca navigate it all together. It's "enemies" to lovers, one bed, touch him and regret it, and, oh, the miscommunication! I love the action, intensity, love, and healing of this series.
I feel like this would have benefited more from being a little longer, the plot was the main focus of this book and I feel like I still have so many questions in certain areas while others were so rushed it was anticlimactic. The spice in this book was decent,I am a sucker for descriptive dirty talk and that wasn't the case in this book so it was a bit lackluster for me.
Fire is a novella and is part of the Jagged Love series and can be read as a standalone. This is a sweet, steamy read about Evan and Luca. There is a bunch of chemistry, wonderful characters and a storyline that was fun to read.
This book was good, a little more slow burn than I expected for the length of the book but still a satisfying HEA. Patriots Now is sounding a little too real-life right now! I liked both MCs but I felt like Luca grew the most as a person throughout the book.
If you haven’t read this whole series yet, you need to!
Evan and Luca were so perfect, I loved the hurt/comfort. I didn’t even mind the miscommunication trope in this because it was a quick read and resolved fairly quickly.
A man in danger and the man who protects him. Luca and Evan are from opposite worlds, but they end up sharing a bed and there is no going back. They try to convince themselves they are not good for each other but they are so perfect together. It’s a lovely romance.
This is Evan and Luca's story. I thought the all the characters were well written and we get to see Cash and Johnny from book 1. This has been a great series and looking forward to reading the next book. Highly recommend. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
4,5 stars Fire is part of the Jagged Love series by Remi Varlow. Fire is the story of Evan and Luca. I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels, exciting, thrilling and very well written.
Oh God this story gets you and gets to you. It has action, suspance, heat, good story and lovely writing. There's a bit f fers and sadness added there too but it works so well!
