They finally tied the knot but can’t free themselves from Lexi’s little black cloud of trouble. Will they ever get time off from saving the world, even on their honeymoon?
Geek girl Lexi Carmichael and her new husband, Slash, are finally setting off on their honeymoon for some well-deserved rest after a super stressful, high-profile wedding that launched them into a media firestorm of attention and paparazzi. What’s an ultra-private power couple to do? Will Slash and Lexi be able to secure the honeymoon of their dreams or will trouble show up in a suitcase full of danger?
After careful and extensive planning, Slash and I are finally headed far away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi and toward the honeymoon of our dreams—and by “dreams,” I mean uninterrupted napping, adult beverages, zero rabid animals, and no weapons pointed in our direction.
After a wedding that involved way too many guns, dangerous drones, and more drama than a reality show reunion, we needed some serious R&R. So, like the super geeks we are, we plotted our honeymoon options in an elaborate spreadsheet to produce an optimum, trouble-free, and relaxing itinerary, as far from turmoil as possible.
But trouble sticks to us like cookie crumbs on a keyboard. What was supposed to be a tranquil escape quickly escalates into a series of events beyond our control, dragging us into danger once again. Then, as if marriage wasn’t complicated enough, the bad guys have us on the run for our lives, and Slash disappears, while we’re just trying to figure out what it really means to be husband and wife.
All we wanted was a little peace and quiet for our honeymoon, and yet the universe keeps sending us trouble. Will we ever get time off from cloak-and-dagger escapades? Or will our dream honeymoon end with us once again saving the world, but this time in matching “Just Married!” T-shirts?

Another fun entry in the Lexi Carmichael mystery series. In this one, newly married Lexi and Slash are off for their honeymoon to a remote, peaceful island. Will it really be peaceful? Of course not. This is Lexi and Slash.
I suppose this could be read as a standalone, but you wouldn't understand a lot of the past of Lexi and Slash, and the brief appearances by their many friends would be pretty meaningless. And seriously, why would you want to? Start at the beginning and enjoy the fun of getting to know the whole gang.
No Time Off is fun, fast, intense and well, Lexie and Slash; need I say more? Julie Moffett always delivers a great read. Lexi's little black cloud accompanies them on their honeymoon, or does it? Adventure, amazing primary and secondary characters. I love that the good guys we meet in all of the Lexi Carmichael Mystery books are kind and specials just like the people we already love. Whether you are a fan or new to the series, you are sure to love No Time Off.
Lexi and Slash are two of my favorite characters and I was so pleased to get the next episode in the series! The plot was interesting and the new supporting characters were engaging. Through in an old nemesis and Lexi’s little black cloud and you have everything you could possibly want.
Can't A Honeymoon Couple Just Have A Quiet Honeymoon?
"No Time Off" is Book #15 of the Lexi Carmichael Mystery series, written by Julie Moffett. The above title asks, "Can't A honeymoon couple just have a quiet honeymoon?" Well, not if that couple is Lexi and Slash. A quiet honeymoon would be so out of character for these two individuals. The book starts out with Lexi and Slash, with the help of all their friends and family and several cars, SUVs, and limos, pulling off a Keystone Cops type of scenario, so that Slash and Lexi could go on an uninterrupted honeymoon, while escaping from all the paparazzi photographers in and around their home. Next, Lexi and Slash wind up in Hawaii for a 2 day stayover while waiting for the supposed honeymoon destination. While in Hawaii, Lexi is chased by a wild luau pig that has it in for her. Slash has to save her life. Two tourists take pictures and videos of the entire mess, but Slash subtly takes care of those factors. When they finally reach the island where "nothing ever happens" that Slash suggested, all chaos erupts. Lexi had suggested Patagonia in South America. Anyway, they haven't even been on their island honeymoon for a full day when Slash has to save the female Prime Minister of the island from an assassin. Lexi and Slash are invited to Petra's home, where they are wined and dined and profusely thanked, meeting her friends, husband, daughter, and little boy. A day later, they are all in danger and running for their lives because a Chinese faction has taken over the island, putting an imbecile Islander in charge as Prime Minister. Lexi has to contact all her techie friends in the U.S., Elvis, Xavier, and the others to infiltrate the bad guys' emails, bank accounts, and so on, so that Lexi and Slash can save the day. When Slash attempts to break in to the Chinese compound to plant small recording devices, a very loud parrot gives him away and he is captured, but not before planting both devices and shoving his phone that was still on under a desk. The man Slash was with escaped and went back to the safehouse, where Lexi linked into Slash's phone. Then they had to leave that safehouse and flee to a second one, a yacht. Lexi now has to hatch a plan with the actual Prime Minister and two of her loyal friends, to save Slash. Then they have to get Petra to A television station that is being run by the Chinese. This book is filled with intrigue and a past nemesis of Slash's. It also has romance and shows how much Lexi and Slash love each other. Near the end of the book, Basia, Lexi's best friend, sends her a text that will blow your mind. This book proves that no matter how bad things might have been with that little island coup, things could have been a whole lot worse in a different place. I gave this book a much earned 5 star rating.
Lexi and Slash can't shake the excitement (read: danger) that follows them wherever they go. Their wedding is something talked about in hushed tones (thanks to the exploding drones and high profile guest list) and they are DETERMINED to have a romantic and restful honeymoon.
You know, if they can keep Lexi's little black cloud battened down for a few weeks.
HA. The joke's on them with that one. Slash has fully accepted Lexi's penchant for falling into dangerous situations, but this one isn't her fault. They left the destination of their honeymoon up to chance and somehow they still found themselves in the middle of a political coup that had them dealing with some loose ends from a previous little black cloud encounter. In other words, these two were once again forced to apply their big brains to a situation to make sure it didn't escalate into something that could have long-term, global implications.
On a little island nation, there's a political coup taking place. Lexi and Slash are in the right place at the right time to stop the prime minister from being assassinated and things moved forward from there. Suddenly they're on the run, engaging in some potentially dangerous surveillance, and roping their crew back in the States to help them stop this situation before it reaches a tipping point there's no coming back from.
To say Lexi and Slash have an exciting honeymoon might be understating things. That said, I don't know if being hunted and declared enemies of the state were exactly what they were planning when they booked this trip. But they're both smart and wily and they're not going to let a little thing like a political crew stop them from enjoying the start of their life together. *thumbs up*
The paparazzi are like fleas, popping up everywhere. After their not so private , not so trouble free wedding they head off to their honeymoon. Hawaii was cute in a Lexi kind of way. Their next stop, not so much at the small chain of islands they travel to. Slash saves the prime minister from an assassination. That puts a target on their back from all angles. They manage to find a safe spot until Slash is accused of trying to kill the prime minister. There goes their quiet honeymoon, right off to sea. Ms. Moffett always manages to intertwine action, suspense and humor into her books. The paparazzi pop back up at the end is truly funny. The question is 'Will they ever be able to escape that 'pet' of Lexi's? That darn black cloud!
Wow! Another epic roller coaster ride with Lexi and Slash! The plot line was extremely clever - blending contemporary issues with old friends (and nemeses?) !! Julie Moffett is one of the most clever authors I know - her stories are never just basic cops and robber/ national security intrigue - they are always so well thought out, and complex, without dragging down the excitement of the story. I love reading about Elvis, Xavier and the rest of the team, I love touching on bits of history from previous books, and I love how Lexi & Slash are still working on their ever-growing relationship. I hope this series continues for a long, long time!
Lexi and Slash embark on their honeymoon, planning to spend time relaxing at a remote island destination, where nothing exciting happens, or so they thought. Only a few days after they arrive at their idyllic retreat, however, they find themselves involved in fighting an attempted coup, and facing an old enemy. Will our favorite geeks survive and save the day? It will take their skills and those of their hacker friends back home to help them succded.
Julie Moffett has an amazing ability to weave a story within a story with... you get the idea. This latest installment of the Lexi Carmichael series is fantastic. It starts out great and won't let you go. I love there's always a little post-adventure wrap up rather than just leaving us hanging, too. All in all, another book by Julie which just leaves you wanting more.
Yay for Slash and Lexi and the little black cloud!
I have truly enjoyed this series. My only complaint is the length of time between books. I love how Lexi has grown from a mousy, introverted nerd to confident woman with a full life- husband, friends, and work. I'm a little in love with Slash myself. He's an Italian James Bond, but better. He's not a womanizer. He' s completely in love with Lexi. Plus he's extremely intelligent. That little black cloud is extremely powerful
Peaceful honeymoon? Will Lexi and Slash have the peaceful and relaxing honeymoon that they dreamed and planned for? Or will the little black cloud find them on a remote island where nothing exciting ever happens? I really liked this book and the situations that Lexi and Slash find themselves in. No matter what happens their love keeps them together. I hope there will be more books to come. The narration was perfect, too.
Lexi and Slash. Slash and Lexi. The “little black cloud” that points this pair at situations that require drastic attention has struck again. The pair has chosen to run far, far away for their honeymoon and finds themselves on the side of a tiny island nation in the midst of an armed coup.
The characters, fast paced storyline, and the plot that could be straight out of today's news, are just a few of the reasons Julie Moffett's "Lexie Carmichael " series shines. Though the book can be read as a standalone, I recommend catching up from book one---the character growth is so well written, they feel like they are real people. The thrills and humor had me tense one minute and laughing the next! A truly great read.
Great storyline that follows Lexie & Slash to their honeymoon. It starts out a bit slow (after they successfully leave for their remote location) from typical LG series books, but as the story unfolds it gets more interesting. I love these characters and highly recommend this series. Can’t wait for the next adventure!
I stayed up late to read this latest Lexi Carmichael mystery. So good, so many plot twists and turns. Lexi and Slash and new friends and old. What started as a quiet honeymoon goes south quickly, even for Lexi end her little black cloud!
Yes, with all the books in this series, this book was amazing. Lexi and Slash’s honeymoon was beyond anything you could ever dream. It was an adventure and beyond belief, which is par for the course for the two of them.
Slash, Lexi and their friends are lovely characters, and each book in the series gets better and better. I love this world and eagerly await each new book. Keep em coming,Julie! Your voice and style are magnificent!
Lexi and Slash are at it again, while on their honeymoon they have to stop a coup of the local government. All of their brilliant friends step in long distance to help. Great characters and China is a main player.
In this action packed sequel, newlyweds Lexi and Slash attempt a relaxing honeymoon, only to have danger follow them everywhere. From paparazzi chaos to unexpected threats, their dream getaway turns into a thrilling adventure, testing both their courage and their new marriage.
This was an action-packed, edge of the seat “honeymoon” for Slash and Lexi. And they had planned so carefully that everything would be smooth, soothing, relaxing … and suddenly they are in the middle of a coup on the small islands they have chosen.
