This book gives all the basics a person should know if they want to be able to prepare meals for themselves and others. This book is chock full of practical information from budgeting, planning, and creating a meal, whether it be at home or on the trail. If you have a boy involved in scouting encourage them to go for this merit badge. Cooking is a skill that everyone should have. Even if your child does not plan on becoming a chef or getting a job in the food industry, this book will help them to better appreciate all of the work involved in feeding a family.

A great update to this merit badge, now required to achieve the Eagle rank. Contains new things about microwave usage and many bacteria that can cause harm.
