Staring into glowing cat-eyes, while her attackers lay like broken dolls in the snow around her, shouldn't have been a turn-on. She shouldn't consider the man who killed to save her from rapists a hero. But she does. She shouldn't feel as if she belongs to that hero, mind body and soul, but there's no way she can deny it. And the hardest part for Alyssa Aimes to get her head around, besides his extraordinary eyes: the knowledge that she'll never see him again.
But four years later, Colton Blake does come back into her life, just as dramatically as he left it. And this time she's determined to keep him there, even if she has to risk her recording contract and her life to do it.
For Colt, much has changed in four years. No longer a homeless drifter with a dangerous secret, he has found his place among the Scorpio Sons, an elite band of genetically engineered cloned warriors charged with bringing to justice a secret cabal that has been exploiting the world for millennia. But one thing that hasn't changed during that time: his obsession with Alyssa, the stranger he met just once and can't seem to forget. But now his mission has brought Alyssa back into his life. And with her comes a secret she doesn't even realize she harbors; a secret that could bring not only Colt to his knees, but the whole band of the Scorpio Sons along with him.
Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms. Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine. But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.
Ok, so you here Scorpio Sons and what do you think of? MC yep well that was my answer anyway but this is not the case. This book is different and I mean different in a good way. 3.5 Scorpio Son Stars.
So obviously it isn’t a MC book so I was then trying to figure out what kind of book it was the beginning was interesting and then the author lost me after that building and creating the world and laying good foundation work.
Eons ago aliens invaded the Earth and using up all the resources and sucking Earth dry until they’ll move on to another planet. They belong to the Guild. The Guild set up a gene modified project in the 80’s where test tube babies were born all males mixed with panther DNA. The Guild infiltrated by the Résistance to have a chance of fighting the Guild. I’ve just given the basics it would take too long to go into more detail.
Colt Blake is a drifter and ran away at the age of 7 as he noticed that he is different. 4 years ago he saved Alyssa Aimes as she was being attacked and nearly raped by a pack of men because she wouldn’t put out to her ex. Colt saved her and disappeared into the night. It didn’t matter that Alyssa saw that Colt’s eyes glowed and that he committed murder she was still attracted to him.
Fast forward to the present. Alyssa is on Star Quality and her boss is under suspicion of working with the Guild. Colt has to get close to Alyssa as well as Connor “his brother” Bla Bla Bla and there is a happy ending for now at least.
Once I got into the book I really enjoyed it although this in NA and usually not my thing. I look forward to Connor’s book.
This is a shifter story with a difference, at the start of this book Colton Blake is a person of no fixed abode he's wandering around staying off the grid, he has no family and no friends then one night he hears a girl screaming and even though it means he'll have to leave his current location and move on he can't ignore it so when he discovers she's being attacked by three guys he saves her using his extra abilities. This is a defining moment for both Colt and the girl he saved Alyssa, they form a bond and even though their meeting takes only minutes they never forget each other so when they meet again four years later they instantly click, but the situation is different this time around Colt is no longer alone or drifting he's part of the Scorpio Sons, an elite band of genetically engineered cloned warriors and they're in the middle of a war, a war to save the world but somehow Alyssa appears to be involved. I believe this is the first book I've read by this author and I loved it, this book is different, I loved the whole idea and the characters and the story, it's a fantastic read and I can't wait for the next one. Why not 5 stars? Well there were a few little discrepancies one example of which is the hearing, if you're going to give enhanced hearing then it has to be constant. Alyssa I felt also overplayed the, well that's the thing I can't say without giving something away and I wouldn't dream of spoiling this book for you but if you read it you'll know what I mean she becomes a little fixated on something. These are small things which don't really spoil this book and if you like shifter books then I really would recommend you give this ago after all it's free at the moment.
Fanfreakingtastic read. Sci-fi and shifter, what a mix for a book but oh so good. It was funny and dramatic. Full of energy, twist and angst galore. Sexy with moments of WTF. I'm intrigued by this series. Onto the next book.
I enjoyed this story; It was a good start to a new series! The characters were likable and I'm looking forward to learning about each of them and their future mates! Recommended!
've been on a real paranormal kick, and this satisfied all those urges. Except, of course, I want to read the next in the series!
It begins with Colt rescuing Alyssa, Lyss. After he slaughters her would-be rapists, both of them are surprised to be attracted to each other. It doesn't make sense. She should be terrified, and he . . . well, he'd killed a bunch of guys. He runs away, because he's a shifter and has never trusted humans, even though he finds himself powerfully drawn to Lyss.
Four years later, she happens to have a record contract, she's a singer, with one of the world's biggest tycoons, who is involved in a secret plot that could destroy the world. Colt is involved with the Scorpio Sons, a secret organization too that is quietly trying to take down the more powerful cabel the record producer is involved with. At first Lyss's involvement seems coincidental, but after a few more run ins with Colt, their amazing attraction to each other can't be denied. As well as what happens to her each time she's excited by Colt.
I LOVED this book, because I've never read an explanation for shifters like this before. Really interesting and fun stuff about global powers duking it out, unbeknownst to we humans. I was so involved with this book, I hoped I had some genetic super power myself. Alas, my only super power might be in buying books. And this one is SO worth it. It's adventurous, sexy, fresh, and I can't wait for the next!!!
This book introduced so many concepts that I thought I had started reading book 2 instead of book 1. It starts out with Colton saving Alyss from a gang-rape using his cat-shifter powers. Then we bounce 4 years later and he has a "brother", no wait he is a clone, one of 100 created to be super soldiers. A newly found clone is brought in and we suddenly get a mini-history during his orientation including the stupid way they got the name "Scorpio Sons". Next we are informed that there is an evil organization called the Guild that, wait for it... has alien-blood. Finally to explain why Colton is attracted to Alyss we find out that oh yeah the creator made female shifters too. Only the girl embryo's were sent out to Fertility clinic and were born IVF rather than by test tube like the boys. All of this is done in the first 2 chapters which would have been better served as a prologue explaining the who, what, where, why. I was so thoroughly disgusted by the convoluted introduction of concepts that I quit reading. Ok I got over it and finished. After chapter 3 it reads like the TV show "Beauty and the Beast" which made it an ok read.
Very Good! As usual this author didn't disappoint.
What a great way to introduce the series!
Interesting and different take on shifters. Was hooked right from the start and the story flows so wonderfully I was halfway through the book before I knew it. The characters are lovable and charming in their own way. The Sons are fascinating and despite their similarities we can still see the differences between them and be intrigued by each new one that comes along. Loved that they are not perfect (no one is, so it lends credibility to the story). And loved that the shifter characters were not solely ruled by their instincts. That is not usually the case in this kind of paranormal romances (which sometimes seem to forget that shifters have a human side besides the animal one).
Definitely want to know more about this world and can barely wait for book 2.
Shifter suspense romance that was pretty good. I'm still undecided on how well I really liked it since it took me awhile to get into the storyline. I enjoyed the chemistry and interaction between Alyssa and Colton. A definite plus that it wasn't a cliffhanger. Would recommend if like shifter/paranormal reads.
Just finished this book. It's the first thing I have ever read by this author. I really enjoyed it. I love paranormal romance and throwing in a little Sci-Fy even better. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series..
I am really liking this shifter series based on clones. Extremely original, then throw in the women...makes for a great read. Looking forward to book 2.
Loved the story. It is a fantastic blend of paranormal shifter and sci-fi. Great story line, I couldn't put it down. Just bought the next book in the series.
