I received this book free from the author, this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review in any way.

Oh WOW. I absolutely LOVED Type N, it's such an original idea, that one girl's blood is the cure to all known disease, and I had no idea there was going to be a sequel. But I'm very happy that there is. Taking Names definitely did not disappoint.

Taking Names follows Nicolette's journey as she runs from the special agents that are after her and her blood. The novel starts in Sri Lanka, one year after the end of Type N, as Nicolette and Jason are getting married. They are such a cute couple and I was so glad that they ended up getting together at the end of the first book. Of course the President decides that he has to ruin their idyllic lives, and sends two CIA agents after them. And then, BOOM. Nicolette's life is turned upside down.

In Taking Names we get narrative from both Nicolette and special agent Noelle Jackson, this gives us insight into what is happening in team America. The addition of Noelle's narrative was a brilliant idea, it added greater depth to the story, and also I began to really care for Noelle. I now want to know more about what happens to both Nicolette and Noelle.

Taking Names was a great sequel to Type N, the story developed beautifully and we were allowed a view into what's happening in the American government. Throughout the novel the story flowed, sometimes dual narratives can feel jumpy, however this was not the case for Michelle N. Onuorah. The entire thing felt very natural and created very vivid imagery.

Sure, Taking Names could be longer, but now I can't wait for the next instalment in the trilogy so I get find out what finally happens to Nicolette.

I think that the feels in this book deserve a special mention. Seriously wow, the end had me in tears! And can I just say, the ending! I won't say anymore because I really don't want to spoil it! What I will say is that I highly recommend you read Taking Names, and if you haven't already, Type N!

4 - Action-packed - Stars

“I’m calling the shots now.”

This book continues with Nicolette and Jason living their new life in Sri Lanka after running away leaving the states the year before. They recently got married and are enjoying married life without having to run all the time.

“I’m scared,” she says suddenly. I frown at her questioningly. “I’m scared that this is too perfect. That we’re too happy.”

Unfortunately Nicolette was right. Just when things are working out for them after being through a hell of a lot, things starts to fall apart again. But this time it’s worse. Who do you trust? Where do you go? How do you survive?

“When there are no consequences, there is no accountability and a nation without accountability is a nation that can’t be trusted.”

In this book you get to follow Nicolette’s journey on the run, but also a new character that has an important role in this story, special agent Noelle Jackson. You get to know what Nicolette is going through but also how the American agents are operating on their mission to find Nicolette. At first I thought this would be a bit boring since all I really cared about was Nicolette but I started to care for Noelle and in the end only wanted more of her story. These women are two strong people trying to do the right thing but doesn’t know who to trust.

“There’s an anger that burns up every bit of feeling you have left. It fuels you but it also deadens the empathy, the mercy, the need to care. It’s a dangerous sort of anger because you can do anything when you truly don’t care anymore.”

I think this book was a great continuation of the first book Type N because we get a wider perspective of what is happening in the government and what lies are being told to get Nicolette to return to the States. I believe the books in this series would be great movies because Michelle N. Onuorah’s writing have a way of painting pictures in your head while reading that you are able to “see” the story playing out in your head and that makes this series so much more enjoyable.

And that ending?! I was hoping and hoping for that happy surprise! I’m looking forward to the conclusion of Nicolette’s story.

Type N is one of my favourite books and WOW Taking Names definitely lived up to the first book!
I loved special agent Noelle Jackson and Nicolette's narrative. I thought that the addition of Noelle's narrative gave an interesting look into the corrupt Government. Towards the end of the book I really started to like and feel for Noelle.
I really recommend reading Type N and Taking Names for an interesting and gripping read.Taking Names was an emotional roller coaster that had action from start to end. There is no doubt that I am a big fan of these books and will be reading the next one!
I am super excited for the next book and hope it lives up to the first two books that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to find out the fate of Nicolette and Noelle that Michelle N Onuorah has decided.

The second in the Type N Trilogy and it did not disappoint! Taking Names is another fast paced book that I did not want to put down! I only wish I had been able to read it as quickly as I did with Type N. I like seeing how Nicolette grew from the child she was at the beginning of Type N to now. I can't wait to see where Michelle Onouorah goes with the final book in the series.

I had in my head that the ending was going to go in one of two ways. Both would have been good cliffhangers in my opinion. And one of my thoughts was how she did end the book.

The spiritual elements are well done too with an important issue Nicolette faces: Forgiveness. Michelle has said that she is a Christian and that is in her books, well done, and not "in your face".

I can't wait for the final in the series! I can't wait to see how this story ends for all the characters. Great job Michelle!!!!

*Received book from author in exchange for honest review*

Taking Names picks up a year after Type N leaves off and finds Jason and Nikki living in Sri Lanka as newlyweds. Little do they know that there is yet another corrupt president in America that wants Nikki's blood to settle debts and benefit essentially the top 2% of society...oh and kids, you know to make them look good and all that jazz. The couple sets off again on the run for their lives across various countries trying to evade the government and save their lives.

I can't lie, when that first death happened I absolutely pages very quickly through the rest of the book to see if the name was ever mentioned again because there was just NO WAY that that scene was it, wasn't buying it. No way. That put a little bit of a damper on things for me as I feel like we were pulling so hard just to have the ground ripped out from under us, but it was all worth it in the end and I can't wait to see how that plays out in the final installment. What I liked about this book was that we didn't just get the perspective of Nikki and Jason or her family, but also of the people that were tasked with finding her and bringing her in. We get to see them chase after her and try to stay ahead and what's more, we see them figure out that everything they thought was true was a lie and the President was a corrupt bastard. I thought that was an interesting POV that we didn't have before and enjoyed. It was a little tough to remember everyone's names that were said from earlier in the series, but you figure it all out in the end.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading the final installment of this series to see what happens next with Noelle and her new position (and if her and Lee will ever just be with each other and give it a try or just assume it would never be serious), if Lee can be as good of a leader as he seems, who wants Nikki now (let's just be real) or if she's finally safe with her family. And of course that reunion needs to be like the first page of that book, please and thank you!!! I don't know how long I would be able to wait lol

And seriously, movie rights? Can we petition someone to write it? It would be soooooo good!!!

(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review).

(This review may contain spoilers).

Having read the first book in this trilogy, I was happy to read the second when the author offered me a copy in exchange for a review. Unfortunately, it did take me a while to get to this, but I'm glad I was able to read it and it was something I found really entertaining.

Even though I do wish that the book didn't constantly change between multiple first person POVs (I always find that hard to read), I did find this book a really quick and easy read otherwise. It was good to see more of Nicolette and the other characters I'd met from the first book... as well as the new characters who appeared in this book.

Although I would have preferred the book to be written in third person, it was good to see the workings with the other side as well as with Nicolette. I felt the author did a good job of putting a more 'human' face to the apparent bad guys.

I also thought the author did a really good job of showing the kind of situation Nicolette was in due to the properties of her blood. Sadly, I could see humans wanting to get what they saw as a 'resource' and completely ignore the issue of basic human rights.

I did like the scenes with Nicolette and Jason at the beginning of the book. It was nice to see them spending time together and having been able to be married. I also liked seeing that Nicolette had been training in self-defense... even if she still can't aim a gun properly.

I also liked seeing Eva in this book and Nicolette's brother and sister. I did feel that things moved a bit too fast with Elena towards the end of the book. She seemed to change her tune quite fast.

There were some quite intense scenes in this book and it kept me reading really easily throughout. I liked Noelle as a character and I would have liked to see a bit more of her interactions with the other characters around her.

I also liked the use of faith and Christianity in this book. I definitely hope to read the final book in this trilogy at some point in the future.

Taking Names was a really good follow-up to Type N. The book was very fast-paced with a great story that caused me to once again become emotionally attached to the characters while boo-ing for the bad guys. The only changes I could possibly have wished for are a departure from religious overtones and more book after that gnarly cliff-hanger! Can't wait to read the end of the trilogy to see what happens next!

Second book in the trilogy.

This book started a little slower than the first book but after the first 15-20 pages I read it all in one sitting. Very seldom do I find books I just can't put down but this is one of them. I think overall it was even better than the first book.I will be waiting ( and not patiently) for the last book in the trilogy. These books have it all love, adventure, spiritualism and a great story line. I think anyone would love to read them.

Taking Names is a wonderful follow up to Type N.
Many tragic events continue to plague Nicolette's life. The only thing missing for me was a large revelation. I keep thinking "This page will be the one that Nic finds out she's pregnant."
The biggest twist was a very welcome surprise.

Ms. Onuorah was kind enough to gift me a copy of Taking Names for a honest review.
