Der Schauspieler, bekannt aus dem TV- und Kino-Hit „Türkisch für Anfänger”, ist es leid, Quotentürke zu sein – denn er liebt Schwarzbrot, Geranien und Stammtische und ist damit deutscher als viele Deutsche. Doch wie kann es sein, dass er keinen deutschen Pass hat und nicht wählen darf? Damit sich in unseren Köpfen etwas ändert, braucht es laut Maral vor allem Gelassenheit – und eine Prise deutschtürkischen Hümor.

I was given this book by a very nice lady who sat next to me on the plane on my way back from Germany. We ended up chatting quite a bit throughout the flight and she started telling me about the book she was reading until eventually she said I should take it with and read it.

I am so grateful for the opportunity. It's not a book I would have come across to want to read but I thought it was so wonderful. On the one hand it's just a nice, easy read but it gives a really good insight into what it means to live in Germany with Turkish roots. Everyone living in Germany should read this book!! And I mean EVERYONE!
