This is the story of Trevor Henderson, a high society boy who dreams of being a pirate one day; as he was growing up he loved hearing tales of famous pirates such as "BlackBeard" "Black Bart" "Anne Bonny" and many more. in the year 1786 Trevor's wish comes true and he gets to have an adventure in piracy of his own; when he boards a ship called "the Curly Casey" his journey begins, but he soon learns the shocking truth about his identity and history which leads him to the start of the adventure of a lifetime!
Alonna Williams is a children's book author and has been writing ever since she was a little girl. It started with a short story and soon progressed to novels. Alonna has worked on, and grew up with a Pirate series entitled, Pirates of the Withering Coast, her favorite series of all, as well as a mystery series, a Sci-Fi/Superhero series and more! When she's not writing you'll most likely find her dancing, whether it be, Tap, Ballet, Jazz or Lyrical, or watching a good classic movie or cozying up to a Disney film!
Frustrated with his parents lack of understanding and trust in him, Trevor ran to the ports where he enjoyed watching ships arrive. As he determined to return home, a stranger, who seemed to know him, gave him an envelope and a charge... a charge which opened up a whole new world! Nevertheless, it definitely resulted in an unpleasant one.
This was an interesting book for youth ages 10 - 16 years. It was often amusing and adventurous. The storyline was good, the characters easily visualized, and the scenes portrayed well. The Title and the Book Cover was very fitting.
Although the youth was very spoiled, I still felt some of the dialogue was unrealistic of a 16 year old. In studies of pirates, the treatment of Trevor and others was much too mild. This was an ARC, yet, grammar errors of combining conversations of multiple people into one paragraph was extreme. It was confusing at times. Other than these flaws, I feel many youth will find this story entertaining and it is cleanly written!
My review of this books offers a weak Four Stars rating.
*I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given.
I won this book in a give away for an honest review. I read this book to my granddaughter who is a little younger than 10 but still enjoyed the books since she likes pirates. I found the main character quite irritating as he runs away and joins the pirates, even my granddaughter noticed how much he complained. Funny moments and excitement made the reading easy and enjoyable.
