Forgetting Yesterday

Rate this book
Seth has never had much luck with men. Why he is constantly attracted to the gorgeous straight guy who always ends up ripping out his heart is something only a psychologist would be able to understand. Seth only knows he needs to stay away from them. All of them.

Except that Marc, a charismatic "ladies man," comes strolling into the shipping department where Seth works and proceeds to tear down every single wall of security Seth has built to protect himself. There is no way Seth can resist. And now hell has to be paid by Seth's heart. Again.

Marc has only dated women...okay, bedded them. But after taking to bed yet another woman from his office and getting slapped this time--hard--for not being able to even "perform," he realizes something has to change. Yet Marc has no idea that "change" would be in the gender of the partner he'll take into his bed...or into his heart...

Hi, my name is Hurri Cosmo and I am a happy ending junkie. I always have been. You can be pretty rest assured everything I write will have one. I am not big on angst. I believe we get enough of that in real life so when I go to read something, to make the real world go away for awhile, I will most likely not chose something that will make me cry. So I write for those people who, at least occasionally, feel the same way. I’m okay with the fact I will probably never write anything “important” but I guess I will have to see where my imagination takes me. I would love it if you would come along.

Unfortunately this book did not work for me. It would have been a dnf if I had not been reading it for a review. The actual writing, editing, etc was fine. There was no problem with those, it was the content of the story and the characters that I had issue with. First off, and probably most importantly, I couldn't stand Marc. He was everything I dislike in a certain type of man. He was a "player" at the begining for the book and he was selfish throughout it. I have no idea what Seth saw in him. My other really big issue was how easily he went from girls to guys. Just decided he wanted Seth and then Boom....he was into guys. No self questioning, no introspection, nothing. I just didn't find this realistic. Even if you're not homophobic you're still going to question yourself when all of a sudden you're attracted to a different gender. Seth was a little more likable but again I had no idea what he saw in Marc. The women in the book were all horrible. Really horrible. I hate when women are portrayed as an evil caricature in m/m books. It happens too often imo. There was lso too much drama and angsty events going on for my liking. I prefer a story where there is more character development than action, drama, etc.

Marc is a prize catch, according to all the ladies in the office. However, when Marc visits the warehouse and sets eyes on Seth, Marc suddenly realizes that he has been pursuing the wrong gender.

Forgetting Yesterday is an amusing story of discovery. The plot showcases some of the sneaky tactics used by straight women desperate for a boyfriend plus the excitement of seduction. The characters are believable.

Marc is a salesman; the ability to be charming to people is part of what makes him successful at his job. His well groomed good looks also add to his appeal. The women are the primary seducers; Marc simply complies with the female’s wishes. But once Marc realized he was attracted to Seth, Marc was forced to become the seducer since Seth declined to date Marc.

Seth does not hide his sexuality, but he does not advertise it either. Only a few of Seth’s co-workers knew he was gay. Because Marc was considered a straight man, Seth thought Marc was merely curious. Past experience with straight men had taught Seth to be wary of a relationship with Marc.

Hurri Cosmo has created a thoroughly engaging as well as an incredibly enjoyable saga. The storyline is amazingly energetic and touching.

This is a mixture of funny moments and horrible homophobic attacks; sweet swoon worthy moments and stalkerish behaviour; cocksure arrogance and shy unsure worries; straight womanising and gay curiosity.
It was...odd.
I felt like I got whiplash from switching from incident to incident.
Seth was cute enough if a little on the annoying 'he loves me/he loves me not' side. Marc, well I never completely warmed to him. He is selfish and only out for himself, he just seemed determined to have lots of sex regardless who it was with, and when women no longer did it for him he switched to Seth.
I never really bought them as a couple.
Around 60% it all got completely unbelievable and silly. The 'twist' and how it was dealt with was ridiculous.
Not to mention completely predictable.
Overall I was disappointed.
The cover however is fabulous.

I really enjoyed this.
The two Mcs had a believable relationship with chemistry that was shown throughout the book.
They had a couple of pitfalls that they had to overcome but with some self discovery they managed to get through them.
Theirs was a fast paced love story with a HEA. It seemed like a believable time frame though which was good I'm not keen on insta love.
The only thing that irritated me was that the women in the story were not nice at all. Even the one who was suppose to be a friend was out for herself and wasnt supportive.
A good read and I'm going to look for more books by this author.

Overall this wasn't the story for me. It did flow well but I didn't like what happened in the story. I'm a fan of Gay for You but there was no journey. Marc had more "Oh! I'm Gay....cool." He was just too aggressive with his pursuit to get Seth and Seth was so flip floppy. He was strong one minute and then in the next breath he get so weak willed around people especially Marc. Things was just too convenient and at times unrealistic. Which diminish my enjoyment of the story. I honestly think that this story would work for someone else who just care about the details. Marc is a top salesman at the company where Seth works in the warehouse. Seth thinks Marc is hot, as does every other woman, but Seth knows Marc only by is reputation as a player and that he’s, unfortunately for Seth, straight. Little does Seth know, Marc has his eye on Seth and once Marc decides he wants someone, he pursues them until he gets them. When Marc starts flirting with Seth, he’s not quite sure what to do. He’s been burned more than once by straight guys scratching their curiosity so he has no interest in getting hurt again. He tries to rebuff Marc but eventually gives in. The problem though, is that Marc dumped his coworker and Seth supposed good friend right before he pursued Seth. This becomes a problem throughout the story as she turns out to be quite the nasty character despite Seth’s continued attempts to keep her as his friend. Her displays of jealousy and homophobia are rather disgusting and are the few times I want to choke Seth for what seems like him being naïve. I think it just shows what a good and genuine person Seth is. I was okay with Marc seeming to switch easily to men from women. I think it explained why he never lasted more than two weeks with a woman. He was always dissatisfied with women and didn’t know why. When he found he was attracted to Seth and then started dating him, he realized it just felt right being with him. He was very open to being with a man and never questioned it and when he found the right guy he realized he was gay. I did appreciate that he didn’t spend a lot of time tormenting over the decision. It felt right and he accepted it.

The turmoil comes into the story when a few weeks into their relationship, Marc has to go out of town unexpectedly. The nasty “friend” of Seth’s helps to fuel the rumor mill at work and stirs up doubts in Seth’s already shaky confidence when she sees Marc hugging a pretty, distraught, pregnant woman at work. When Seth can’t get ahold of Marc for couple of weeks he expects that Marc has left him. He’s devastated and doesn’t want to stay around so he decides to entertain his cousin’s employment offer in another city. Marc shows back up though with the pretty woman in tow but with profuse apologies, plausible explanations, and professions of love for Seth.

Seth doesn’t readily take Marc back. Marc does have to work to earn Seth’s trust for leaving with no word even though Marc’s reason’s for leaving were good ones. In the end, the pretty woman, who at first was not a nice person, turns out to be a decent person and their issues with her are dealt with. There is a slight twist to her plot line. Seth’s nasty friend is nasty and will always be nasty. Nothing will redeem her.

Overall it was an enjoyable read. The writing was good. The characters were likable, and the story was easily believable. Everyone enjoys a happy or at least a satisfactory ending. Hurri Cosmo has done another rock solid job. I would recommend it to others.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book just did NOT do it for me, and I gave it 2.5 stars. Marc, a 38-year-old salesman, after a long string of unsuccessful short-term relationships with women in the office and elsewhere, becomes "insta-gay" in about 2-3 paragraphs. No journey of discovery, no delving into his soul. Instantly, he fixates on a co-worker Seth, and almost sexually harrasses him into a date. The subsequent relationship is almost as instantaneous as Marc's discovery that he is gay. Marc, for me, was a rather unpleasant character throughout the entire book.

Seth is a good character, but he is so lightly fleshed out that we know little of his interests, his family, his background.

After the two MCs are drawn together, the requisite crisis which tears them apart is a bit unbelievable, IMHO. Also, it seemed as if every secondary female character in the book was two-faced and scheming, with a heaping side of crazy.

I was given a copy of this book for a free and honest review.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written with developed characters I think most readers can relate to and cheer for.

Besides, how can you not like a book that actually opens with a slap to the face? Winner, winner chicken dinner.

I also found the main plot of the book interesting and believable on most points. The inner turmoil & thought processes of Marc being nearly 40 before realizing he's gay and hence all his previous problems with women probably happens more than most people would like to know or admit. And the concerns from Seth about not being able to trust Marc since who makes it that far in life and NOT know they're gay was also very believable. But I think self-realization isn't always easy and denial can be a powerful force. So I think their experiences are very relatable to many people, whether the issue at hand is sexuality or something else as profound and self-defining.

I'd recommend this book to others and I'd read other books by this author.

I received this book as an ACR for an honest review. This is a MM story with a HEA and is stand alone. I really enjoyed this story. Marc is a 39 year old guy who can't figure out how to keep a relationship from fizzling after 2 weeks. Seth is gay, he has known it all his life and can't keep from falling for straight guys. This is their wonderful story of discovery and finding love. I recommend this book to lovers of MM stories. It is a good read. Hope you enjoy it too.

3 star reveiw by Cindy

I really wanted to like this story. The blurb sounded interesting and it had a lot of promise. But I was left a little disappointed.

Seth is a sweet man who’s been hurt so many times, but to be fair, he just seems to have abysmal taste in men. I liked him and wanted to protect him, but mostly from himself. I hope more men aren’t led around by their libido this much.

Marc…well, I never really did warm up to Marc. He’s really quite self-centered and never does redeem himself in my eyes. His only goal seems to be to have good sex and when he realizes that women just aren’t doing it for him, he decides to experiment with a man…Seth to be exact.

He doesn’t really seem to have a lot of concern about hurting Seth’s feelings and for me, it stays that way through the whole book. Everything he does is all about him and although he does eventually figure out that he has hurt Seth terribly, he just seems confused rather than repentant.

Also, the women in this story are all straight out-bitches and I’m getting a little tired of the woman bashing that seems to be a theme in so many m/m stories.

I did read the whole book through, hoping for something to like. The writing itself is technically good, but mostly I found myself very frustrated with both main character’s behavior and not in a good way.

I’m sure some people will like this story for the hot sex scenes which are really well written, but this story was just really not to my taste.

I have to say that I truly enjoyed this story. It was quite refreshing for me to read a book where a character didn't have some kind of crisis in realizing he is gay. Marc found he was attracted to Seth and just WENT for it. No stress, no panicking, no denial. He just accepted what he felt and went for what he wanted (which is how his personality was portrayed throughout the whole book). There were no major labels standing in Marc's way. It was a non-issue for him, and I loved that.

I thought Seth's questioning and uncertainty was realistic. He had heard Marc had a reputation at work, and he knew Marc had been "straight". Even though he was concerned about it and tried to distance himself from Marc, he gave him a chance. Seth was very much attracted to Marc, and didn't want to ignore his feelings.

The drama that occurred (with Marc's brother and girlfriend) made Marc leave for a couple of weeks without contact with Seth. They had only been together for a couple of weeks at that time and it made sense (to me) that Seth would think Marc changed his mind and left him, but it also made sense to me that Marc was not used to having someone in his life and genuinely did not think of calling Seth. He was going through a really rough time. Once he realized his mistake, he worked hard to ensure he didn't make that mistake again and showed Seth how much he meant to him.

No one is perfect, but those who can learn from their mistakes and grow are the best kind. I loved Marc and Seth together. I would re-read this again in a heartbeat.

I received an ARC in exchange for a fair, unbiased review.
When I read the reviews for this book, I took them in stride, knowing that often most reviews never really reflected what I ended up thinking of the books I read. But this one hit me in the same place as it apparently did others.
I wanted to like Marc. I really did. And he did have redeeming qualities. But he was really a douche for the most part. Until really close to the end, I found myself constantly wondering why anyone would put up with Marc's flighty-ness and seeming inability to really care for someone. He seemed so shallow. He did begin to redeem himself close to the end, but was still all over the place depth-wise.
Seth, on the other hand, was prone to whiny-ness and had a total lack of inner strength, leading to all the thoughts of doubt, both in himself and Marc. The way he jumped to such far-fetched conclusions drove me crazy at times. I did like how sweet he was, though.
I absolutely HATED both Jenny and Sandy. They were kind of like the same person in some ways. Both of them were ALL about themselves and completely unable to see the need to care for others in an unselfish way. I was really glad to see how both were handled by the author in the end..
All in all, the book was really well written, extremely easy to read and was fully fleshed out as a decent story. Those were the reasons for the 4 star rating I gave it. But the characters were really tough to connect with in most ways and that made it somewhat difficult to enjoy the book as I hoped.

I did somewhat enjoy this book. It was to short to feel any real connections to the characters. Seth is just a lonely young guy looking for a relationship. Marc is a real jerk. Once Seth and Marc meet there seems to be a connection. There isn't instant love. They grow together through the book. My disappointment in the book is the part of Mark's brother. I think more could have been added about him to make Marc seem more like a person. When I started reading the book I really was not much into it but when Sandy showed up and you got a glimpse of Marc's back story it made him more real. That is when I really started enjoying the book and that is just about where it ended. It was a nice short story. No super great heat. Somewhat of a hea but just that maybe they might move in together. I would have also liked more of a finish to the story. Deeper characters and more of a rock solid finish. If you are looking for a light flowing read this is for you. If you are looking for depth this isn't. I was given an arc of this book for an honest review.

I really like this author because she is always writing something completely different from what she wrote before. This was a fun and quick read. Almost like an enemy to lovers deal but not quite. I loved the interaction between the MC's and how they really got to know each other. They still fell in love fast but it was believable for me and the timing felt right. Loved it!

I really liked this story of a man realizing he's gay. For once in a book, he takes the realization well and just flows with it. Much to Seth's hesitation, Marc is relentless and wins Seth over and it couldn't be a better story in my opinion. Loved the characters, story line, and the ending, well done!
