Variables of Love

Rate this book
Meena Kapoor knows what life has in store for her. She’s in her senior year at Stanford where she’ll graduate summa cum laude, and then she'll begin her interviews…her marriage interviews. Meena is Indian, and she’s never questioned that she’ll have an arranged marriage like all the generations before her. Not until she meets gorgeous math major Ethan Callahan. Ethan’s sense of humor and free spirit stir feelings in Meena she didn’t know were possible outside of Bollywood movies. It doesn’t hurt that he’s charming and has the uncanny ability to make math sound like poetry, but Meena knows their equation makes no sense in the real world.

Ethan finds himself intrigued by the mysterious, beautiful girl, whose big, brown eyes reflect great pain. His goals are small at first—to make her smile and then to laugh. But he soon wants more, and though Meena is adamant they have no future, he convinces her to share the present. Ethan believes every problem has a solution, but with cultural expectations and family duty among the variables, they will struggle to solve the ultimate equation to find happiness.

Not knowing a word of English, MK Schiller came to America at the age of four from India. Since then, all she’s done is collect words. After receiving the best gift ever from her parents—her very own library card—she began reading everything she could get her greedy hands on. At sixteen, a friend asked her to make up a story featuring the popular bad boy at school. This wasn’t fan fiction…it was friend fiction. From that day on, she’s known she wanted to be a writer. With the goal of making her readers both laugh and cry, MK Schiller has penned more than a dozen books, each one filled with misfit characters overcoming obstacles and finding true love.

What can I say?

Overall nothing wrong with this book. Except for lots of philosophic dialog.

Which became a little boring and annoying after a while especially when you don't agree with the heroines opinion.

Ethan, the hero, is a really sweet guy. Reminded me a lot of Caleb from A Girl by Any Other Name. But I couldn't connect with Meena.
Actually I didn't like her at all. And I don't even have a good explanation for it. Maybe it was her opinion and her thinking that rubbed me the wrong way.

Anyway I ended up scanning through the book and came across something I don't like much in my books.

So, taken all together I'm not overly keen to read any further.

This was throwback New Adult read. I got the feeling I had when I was reading New Adult many moons ago.
I love this author and recommend her books. I like diversity in this book and how realistically all the conflict was resoveled. And being the person who has no clue or interest in math I enjoyed this book very much.

On the plus side;

- sweet hero
- smart characters
- character growth
- realistic but with a touch of romance
- HEA & cute epilogue
- great diversity of characters without them feeling like some kind of checklist

I would be curious what some of my friends who are Indian think about this plotline and the heroine.

The author ( who is Indian) said that this is a story very close too her & personal.

Things that might bother you;

- there are some time leaps; around 6 months

- Hero sleeps with other women when they brake up

- I'm a bit iffy about slut-shaming that one of the side characters is getting
I am one of those people that never understand why girls ( I refuse to say grown-ass women) call each other sluts in fun way, I don't get it

Overall, I liked this book.
Solid New Adult read.

You know how it such a let down when a book has such a strong start-then just kind of fizzles out toward the end? That's not this book! I found myself enjoying this book more and more as I read.
The writing started off a little stiff. It was mainly during the spoken parts. Maybe I just got into the flow of the story. It starting flowing a lot better by 25-30%. This is first person POV, alternating Meena & Ethan. They're both in their last year at Stanford. They have a meet-cute, and they are also in a class together. Ethan is almost too perfect of a guy. Then he did show his faults- which made him still gorgeous and sweet- but mortal.
Meena is Indian-American (1st generation) from the Boston area. Meena is torn between her parents wishes and her wants/desires/goals/dreams/Ethan (not necessarily in that order!). The first 1/3 or so seems like Meena is too back and forth about what she wants with Ethan. They do discuss this a lot so I won't spoil how they try to deal with that. I like the secondary characters- their friends at school & their parents.
The stronger and stronger story development is what I loved so much. I wanted to yell at my kindle and make it all right with these two. I really like MK Schiller's books. Like my friend seton said, this is one right up there with the Do Over. I loved reading about Meena-who is not like me at all. As different as Meena and Ethan are, they make a great couple. I read a review -that was more like a comment since the reader didn't even get halfway- then dnf'd (sorry, her loss, IMHO). She said that she could not relate to Meena. I couldn't either, and that is why I really got into this terrific love story. I want to read about people that are different from me. There is a lot to consider when love happens between two different cultures. Great ending & has an epilogue ^_^ I'd give this 4.75 stars & recommend this NA book. It takes place over approx 18 months- and there's growth in everyone.

What I didn’t know when I started this book was that it was from the New Adult genre. For some reason I had it in my head that it was a YA. Either way, this one surprised me with how much I liked it.

At first I found it to be a bit cliché. Meena and Ethan meet by bumping into each other. Very cliché. But then this book developed into something a lot deeper than the typical romance and a lot about certain things I love. And that has to be culture!

The main problem here is that Meena is Indian, and in her future is going to have an arranged marriage. However, Ethan is American, and therefore wouldn’t be accepted by her parents. That is the main problem they share, and why Meena is all too eager to push him away. Meena is a great character – the typical good girl who has her own secrets and her own reasons for keeping them. They are steadily unraveled to the reader and each one made me feel for her. Ethan himself has some things about him he would rather keep to himself, and it was good to get to know him too. Personally, I loved the slow and steady way he cared for Meena. It was such a cute romance ^.^

The secondary characters were also well done and had their own problems too which was always good to see. There was Rachael who is the daughter of a priest, but in truth is herself the girl that sleeps around the most and gets into all sorts of trouble. She ends up falling for the wrong guy herself religion-wise and then can’t lose her bad girl attitude. And then there is Raj, who is gay and also Indian. That isn’t accepted in his culture so he is having troubles dealing with that as well. Personally, I loved the secondary characters, and the friendship between them all was wonderful.

The dialogue had to be my favourite thing about this book. When Meena and Ethan talk about things they do it in such creative ways, and it doesn’t even seem unrealistic. It seems to match their personality and seems so natural, it’s hard to believe these aren’t real people having this conversation right now. I loved it. Wonderfully done.

As well as that there was the theme of death in here, and getting over the loss of a loved one. I hated the way Meena’s family was so fractured by a single death, even though it was a significant one. It was interesting to compare how her family dealt with the death and the way that Ethan’s did.

Heed this warning: this is not a clean romance (and I had naively believed it to be). But it isn’t as bad as some new adult romances.

There were some comical parts to this book. The author leaves you wondering until the very last moment whether Meena and Ethan’s relationship will survive everything. I was always kept guessing. There was never a boring moment in the book, and setting aside the meet up at the beginning, there wasn’t a single cliché moment as well. I was pleasantly surprised after reading this one!

1st of all... the title is brilliantly clever. I found myself thinking repeatedly while reading how perfect the title was in so many ways. 2nd.... I'm absolutely in love with Meena and Ethan.

The story was so complex. I found myself really interested in learning Meena's reasoning for planning to have her marriage arranged. After listening to her explanations and the methods that took place during the arrangement... it made so much more sense to me. It wasn't her parents saying "here's your fiance, let's plan the wedding". There were so many factors... variables... in the choice of man. So many steps... with Meena having every right to veto. And a long engagement to find out if the choice was right. Again... with right to back out. I could understand Meena's life plan. I could see how arranged marriages (if done as she explained) would work. BUT...then there was Ethan. How do you argue the "pros" of your plan when you naturally, without trying, (actually fighting it every step of the way) fall in love with an amazing man?

I need to note I tears up multiple times while reading Variables of Love. There were just so many times my heart broke for both Ethan and Meena during their relationship. There were also moments that were so damn sweet and sentimental that I just got choked up. Is there such a thing as an uplifting tragedy? It felt like that at times.

I would be neglectful if I didn't mention all of the amazing supporting characters in the book. Meena's best friends (and then Ethan's) Raj and Rachel were so fabulous in their own rights. I could totally see MK Schiller going back and writing 2 more books covering the exact same time frame but making a book for Raj and a book for Rachel. Their stories were just as interesting (and their romances just as much of a struggle in fighting variables) as Meena's and Ethan's. I truly would love to read their full stories.

5+ Stars!

Loved this story about different cultures, different traditions, different beliefs, but love strong enough to overcome it all.

M.K. Schiller was recommended to me by one of my Goodreads friend, and I'm on her 3rd book, and so far I have loved every single one. Great author!

Thank you so much itsmebacshi for recommending her to me. I can't thank you enough.

M. K. Schiller is quickly becoming one of those authors whose books I will grab knowing nothing but that they wrote it. This is the fourth book of hers that I've read, and I've been rewarded each time with a book that I truly enjoyed.

In this story she explores not necessarily the idea that opposites attract, but that the appearance of opposites can be misleading. Meena and Ethan come from very different backgrounds, and there are a lot of aspects of their lives that are challenging to fit tighter. Beyond their strong physical attraction to one another, there are some clear fundamental similarities that they share that make the reader really see how comparable they are. They are both very intelligent, and both characters possess an amazing capacity to try and understand where other people are coming from. Ethan turning his math skills into poetry was really wonderful, and I think it is impossible not to fall a little bit in love with him while reading this. Meena is a really interesting character, and it was easy for me to feel along with her as she struggles to deal with who she is and who her family wants her to be. These characters were unique and I really enjoyed getting to know them.

Pretty quickly, I knew that I was waiting to feel some difficult emotions I knew were going to come as the story continued. Anytime a book can get me feeling along with the characters, I consider the book successful, even if the emotions are uncomfortable to feel. Meena's friends experience challenges in their relationships as well, and I thought it was interesting to see how people of all different backgrounds can struggle with the expectations put on them by outside forces. I liked how these friends supported one another throughout the story. I will most definitely be reading more by this author in the future.

Firstly, I want to say how much I loved the cover and the inside pages of this book and also at the start of each chapter with the person whose POV it was - the name in the loveheart was a great touch and a very innovative and creative idea. Secondly, this book is another one to prove that hot and sexy love novels are out and geeky love is in as Variables of Love stars two young adults in a Statistics class - one is an Economics Major and the other is a Maths Major. I loved this book as it brought together the geekiness and romance of two people who believe they aren't good enough but don't realise how amazing they both are. It also shows readers that love , no matter how amazing it is - it's not always a perfect and easy ride , that there is bound to be obstacles and giant ones at that along the way. Nobody said that true love was ever going to be easy. The main characters are Meena - an indian girl who has planned her future to include an arranged marriage , Ethan whose parents are divorced and is mother is the famous Dr. Love , Raj - an Indian boy who is in fact gay but scared to come out of the closet as it is viewed as a terrible thing in the indian culture , Rachel whose father is a pastor of a church and Alex who is jewish. What will happen when these groups of people fall in love with each other, but know deep down that it's never going to last because of all the factors and differences involved ? Can they live in the present or will they push to make it a forever instead of a just now ?

If you are looking for a Geeky Romantic New Adult , then this is the book for you as you will love it as much as I did. Not only was it an amazing story, but the pages and book layout was ah-mazing and so totally awesome.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I almost said an automatic no when I was asked to review this, because my review schedule is pretty booked right now, but I gave into curiosity and looked it up. Right then and there I decided that sleep is for the weak, and I had to read it.

Ethan reminds me of my husband. There were things he said that were very similar to how I was wooed. Which made me instantly connect to him. Clearly the best way to pick up a girl is with math. Although in my case, science.

This wasn't a typical romance, which is what drew me to it. Different backgrounds, different views of religion, but they're both stubborn as hell. Then you throw their friends into the equation. There is all sorts of crazy involved.

I really enjoyed this book. I love nerdy jokes and it was refreshing to read a romance that isn't something I usually see.

There are some parts that feel like it was stretching too much to stand out. And even though I realize this I still loved all of the characters, even with all their quirks. Also, this blasted story made my eyes water a couple times.

The end was hard for me to finish because I didn't want it to be over! Great story. Read it immediately!

Schiller does sweet heroes who are so into the heroines so very well.

I loved this book something fierce. It didn't draw me in right away, but once things started moving for Ethan and Meena, I was hooked. I thought Schiller did a great job showing the heart-rending reality of two people admittedly in love with each other but chose not to be together (for one reason or another, for better or worse). I loved how the title represented not only Ethan and Meena's story but also their friends', that not everyone could get their HEAs, or that struggles and HEAs could come in different forms. The different variables of love, indeed.

There were a few time skips, especially during their time apart. At one time the hero was forthcoming about having sexual relations with other girls in the six months after he and the heroine separated. Their "just friends" phase ultimately failed and they admitted they just couldn't be together and not love each other—so they decided to just cut their ties. So heartbreaking. But it made the fact that love overcame all obstacles that much sweeter and richer.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

I really loved the story, and it was beautifully presented, which was an extra delight.

The whole basis of the plot was intelligently, and thoughtfully written. The characters were immediately likeable, and desirable. The agreement that they reach falls into their logical world perfectly. The emotions that they feel are captured so carefully. I think it played out brilliantly, and I was in hopeful suspense until the end.

This is definitely on my reread pile; reserved for days when I need sunshine. Thank you Ms Schiller.

OMG!! I totally loved this book by far my fave from MK Schiller. I loved the diversity she brought with Variables of Love, I felt like I could relate to the couple in the story on so many levels. My heart really broke for Ethan and Meena, they were so cute and showed so much strength through it all. I loved how the authors sense of humor came through her writing, she's amazing. I cant wait to see what she comes up with next all the books Ive read so far have been beyond epic and I highly recommend them to any and every one.

4.5 stars. Loved, loved, loved Ethan. It loses half a star for making me anxious though. Just no patience for waiting on the ievitable HEA. This author writes a great story and this one didn't disappoint. Endearing, sweet and wonderful but it takes its time to build. But it's a worthwhile wait.

i loved this book so much. i was seriously debating between 4 or 5 stars. and usually, 5 stars are reserved for my very favorite books. my top tier romance novels practically all have 4 stars bc in my mind, most romance doesn’t deserve to have all the stars because of how unoriginal some of them are. 5s are usually reserved for imagined fantastical worlds that successfully pull me into their universe. however, because i’ve read so many romance novels, most of them blend together into a melting plot of cliches and it’s so bad that for some romance books, i go reading through the whole thing and i barely remember the couple’s name bc that’s how insignificant the book was. it was just another book in the realm of sports romance or office romance or bad boy/good girl romance or fake relationship romance. that’s what maybe 90% of the romance books i read are. and there’s nothing wrong with that. they are very acceptable and i give most of them threes or the occasional fours.

but this romance book. it was so utterly amazing that my hesitation between adding another star was only a moment’s and the extra star is so well deserved.

i was pulled into this world where there is countless characters that are evolving and developing over a much longer period of time than compared to most romance books (which i actually loved, no insta love here). all of the characters were so unique and distinct. the slightly timid but self-assured gay best friend, the self-proclaimed slutty daughter of a preacher who’s only trying to find her true self, the math geek who was born from a one night stand, and the indian girl who is trying to find her own happiness while also attempting to preserve the happiness of those around her. everyone had their flaws. they felt so real. they made mistakes. they learned. they evolved. into much better people.

and the conversations. maybe it’s because i’m an engineering major. but i loved the mathematical analogies. the philosophical conversations. economic-like pros and cons list. practically everything about it were things i loved. i don’t believe in either of the protagonist’s beliefs. i am actually a darren. i’m not an atheist. and im not hindu. but the book explained everyone’s decisions for their beliefs so well and i enjoyed every bit of it.

there was so much that i loved about this book. and i could gush some more. but this is enough. read it if you have an open-minded sense of others beliefs and either a strong or flexible sense of ur own beliefs so as to avoid cultural clashes. i loved it so much to learn about the other type of people who live in this world and i am so grateful for this book. please read and don’t be so quick to judge or discriminate the book. just like for people. treat books and people the same, with care and non-prejudice.

Variables Of Love is the second book by M.K Schiller I've read and now I can honestly say she's one of my favorite authors. No one writes romance quite like her. This was one of my most anticipated TBR books and I'm glad to say it exceeded all my expectations.

I got into the story quite easily. While most say they found it hard to relate to the characters and their dialogue due to their mathematical and philosophical debates I on the other hand liked it. Yes they are both math majors but the math stuff wasn't that heavy that you couldn't get into the story. The writing was great and the story flowed flawlessly and didn't get boring.
So the story is told in first person narrative with alternative POVs. Meena Kapoor is an American-Indian who's doing her last year at Stanford. She comes from a conservative family and is somehow withdrawn with a few friends. Ethan Callahan is the charismatic math wiz who's In one of Meena's classes. They run into each other in the hallway one day and thus begins their friendship/flirtation.

I loved Ethan straight away (definitely book boyfriend material). He was persistent and didn't give up on Meena and I loved their transition from friends into lovers. The thing with M.K Schiller's heroes that I absolutely adore is how they actually court women (you don't get that a lot in romance books). Her characters are also realistic and relatable. Meena fights her attraction towards Ethan at the beginning as her family expects her to get into an arranged marriage. Ethan accepts this and they agree to just date for the remainder of their last year in college. But what happens when both of them start falling for one another. Can they honestly move on without looking back when their year is up?

I absolutely enjoyed this book, especially its take on interracial romance. I felt that it's a subject that was well handled and explored. I went to bed at ungodly hours thanks to this book as I couldn't put it down. The secondary characters were also a joy to read and added to the overall awesomeness of this book. I loved Raj and Rachael! I even shed some tears 'cos it does get pretty emotional towards the end and that epilogue! It was just too beautiful.

When I first posted the release day blitz for Variables of Love, I was super intrigued and immediately one-clicked this baby. The premise was fabulous (I mean, who doesn’t love the idea of forbidden love) and there was DIVERSITY!!!! That alone was enough to make me happy dance all the way to Amazon. (I’m definitely tiring of the trope characters in new adult romance, let me just say.)

Then I started reading, and what I soon discovered was that Variables of Love was not just another love story. It was a story of tragedy and heartbreak, learning to find yourself when your a little broken. And yes, finding love during a time when you promised yourself that you couldn’t…and wouldn’t.

This is Meena and Ethan’s story. Two very different college seniors who just so happen to find each other when things weren’t exactly picturesque in their life. They are the calm for each other, although they have this electric chemistry that burns hot and wild. Unable to help themselves, they fall for each other…and they fall fast. Only they have a timeline on their love, because Meena is of Indian decent and her culture insists on arranged marriages. So what do these two crazy lovebirds do? They put a timeline on their relationship, and oh what a bad idea that is when love is involved.

I won’t be spoilery, it’s not my thing. But I will tell you the angst level in Variables of Love was high. A heartbreaking story that will make you look at your own life. Well, at least I did. :)

I didn’t fully connect with Meena like I wanted to. She had too many sides to her that I just couldn’t follow. One minute she’s a bit of a naive virgin and the next she’s skilled in all ways of life. (Sexual and Emotional) It was a tab bit unbelievable to me, but that really didn’t break away from the empathy I felt for her throughout the length. Because truly, I wasn’t her, or in her shoes.

Ethan was a good character, but his story was a little lacking compared to Meena’s. He didn’t necessarily have much of one, other than loving Meena, and trying to get her to be with him for forever. He was sweet, and definitely a man I enjoyed reading about.

So, the question is, would I recommend Variables of Love to others? Of course, especially to fans of New Adult. Like I said, it’s packed with diverse characters and loaded with angst and heart at the same time. I enjoyed the story, believe me, I just didn’t connect with it one hundred percent. But hey, what’s not for me could be for you! Just remember the subjectivity that is reading :)

I was given this book for my honest review.

A fine wine takes time to be aged and grow into its own taste. This book is just like a fine wine the outcome is spectacular.

Meena (Sunshine)-college student, pretty, smart sexy in her own right

Ethan-college student, hunky, smart

Raj-funny

Rachel-explosive

Meena is the girl that has a past that she shares with no one. She is closed off to some extent but with that comes knowledge. She has an attraction to one man that she knows that will never be anything more just that or could it be? Can she put the past behind her and defy the odds with a future that could be bright and fulfilling? Can she let a friendship bloom with this man and savor the taste of the fine wine before it’s time? Can she let this said friendship grow into something more or will she walk away before it even has a chance to age?

Ethan is the man that has all the moves so he thought. One woman defies him and that makes him want her even more. But can he get this woman to see that her rejection towards him only inspires him even more? Can he finally come to understand that this woman is the one that has stolen his heart with one bump? Can he finally declare himself “the not so ladies man” and just be “her man”? Can he get this woman to see beyond the stereotypes of today’s society of past and present to get the happiness they both so richly deserve? Does Ethan find his heart?

Ethan and Meena’s journey is like a fine wine. It does age well with time, care and love. But with the promise to her family will this couple make it to their forever? Can family promises cause this couple to implode or will they justify the odds and make it as one? Can this couple forge to find that forever that they both have in their hearts? Will this fine wine taste as good after all or will it sour? The sex is more than the meteor falling from the night sky. So HOT HOT HOT Please pick up this book to find these answers and more.

What happens to Raj does he finally come out of the proverbial closet and find his happiness or does he go on without even having a chance to find the love he deserves?

What happens to Rachel? Does she find that one guy to finally settle her craving? Hmmmm

To the author this was one awesome read. You had me from “first bump” and had me to the very end. This book never faltered once. I was so submerged in this read that I couldn’t put it down. As I hope readers will not be able to as well.

Happy Reading

Variables of Love was a riveting story that left a huge impact on me. I can't get this story out of my head. I even fell asleep thinking about it. This is the first book that I have read from MK Schiller and I can now you now, it won't be the last. She created characters that felt so real to me and everything I felt was raw. The situations they faced could actually happen making it all the more real for me. I also loved how she switched POVs form Meena and Ethan in this book. I was able to connect with them on a deeper level because of that.

Meena, and Indian girl, meets Ethan, an American. That right there causes a lot of trouble for them. Meena's culture is so different from Ethan's. She won't let go of her beliefs and and what is expected of her including her arranged marriage. But Ethan and Meena have a strong connection that neither of them can fight. So they both compromise and decide to live in the present and not the future. Be together now until their time runs out. The question is, what happened when their time ran up?

I adored Meena as a character. She was living with so much guilt and pain over her brother's death. Because of that guilt, she wouldn't choose Ethan over what her family has chosen for her. She decided to pass up the one thing that made her happy, for what her parents wanted for her. Ethan fell hard for Meena. After they moved in together, everything was bound to shift between them which it did. Meena was always honest though. She never led him on or anything. That is one thing I loved about their relationship. They were always honest with each other. I loved how Ethan tried to make her live for herself. Do the things she loved to do. He wanted her to pick him. He did what he had to do and I loved that about him.

Variables of Love was an enthralling story that had me hooked form the very beginning. Once I started this story, I honestly could not put it down. I LOVED how the story ended. I am hoping this isn't a standalone, because I would love to see more of Meena and Ethan. I am so glad I had a chance to read and review it. I loved it so much that I bought it. This is a story that I will definitely reread. I highly recommend this book!!!! If you don't read this book, you will totally regret it.

4.5 stars--

Every time I pick up a MK Schiller book, I'm reminded why I am such a huge fan of hers. Her writing is just SO good! Not only does she have the reader invested in the characters within the first few pages, but she also has this humor to her writing that literally has me laughing out loud throughout her books .

"Ethan Callahan, the boy who sat in the back row of Advanced Statistics... I only saw him enter and exit the classroom. I wanted to see him enter and exit other things...like me."

Meena had her whole future pretty much laid out for her. She would graduate college, get a great job, and then per her parents wishes (and in honor of her brother) marry someone from her culture. It might sound old fashioned, but this is how things were done and basically it's her destiny.

Ethan Callahan is the ultimate catch; smart, good looking, carefree, and funny. When he notices Meena, he wants to learn more and when she rejects him, he just pushes hard to get to know her and become her friend.

"I'm friend number three, and I always will be."

Knowing that her future is already planned and there can be no other outcome, Meena decides to live for the moment with Ethan and enjoy the small time that they do have together. But as the end of their time together gets closer, things become more and more complicated.

Let me start by saying I absolutely fell in love with Ethan. He took a chance with Meena, giving into feelings he never had before, even knowing what the end game was. He was so sweet, patience, and loving to her and when he called her Sunshine I just about melted!
Meena is a devoted daughter who is willing to put aside her own happiness to make her parents happy. On the one hand I completely respected that, but on the other I wanted her to have enough trust in her feelings and relationship with Ethan to tell her parents the truth of what she really wanted with her life.

"I love you. I'll always love you."

This book was just so good! I laughed, I cried, I was mad, and I swooned for sure. A book that makes me feel all of this definitely needs to be shared.

I have read both books from the In Other Words series, and truly loved them both; so I was anxious to get started with this one, as the synopsis was intriguing. It took me a minute to have the story engulf me, as I was letting myself get to bogged down in the semantics of all the math, philosophical phrases and hidden meanings; but once I got past that and let the couple's journey be the forefront, it had me. There was a forbidden nature behind this love story, that had me rooting for this couple from the onset. Ethan captured my heart right away; I loved his strength and vulnerability, his intelligence and candor. He is a pragmatists and a romantic all rolled into one gorgeous blue eyed package. Meena aka Sunshine took me a little longer to capture her essence; she came across as aloof yet enigmatic, with a quite charm and beauty that set her apart. She made an impression on Ethan, and literally took his breath away. Her attempts to work through her loss and pain of the past, was reeking havoc on her present, as she felt she was making the right decisions for her future.

I did enjoy this story; the author did a wonderful job helping the reader to understand the cultural diversity and familial dynamics of the characters. I fell a little short in my connection (or lack there of) with Meena. Some of her behavior and responses bothered me, and made it difficult to connect and love her like I need when the story goes beyond amazing. But what I also take from that, is that Meena's character was still in a phase of grief and mourning from her loss, and that is exactly what the author so brilliantly portrayed. This is definitely a story worth experiencing, and I was so happy with our "ever after". Thanks M.K. for another wonderful read.

So Excited for this!!!! There is no MK Schiller book that I do not LOVE!!

There is no book that MK Schiller has written that I do not love and I love her latest book that even after have read it several days ago, it still lingers in my mind. Variables of Love is about Ethan, an american and an Indian girl named Meena. This book is about culture and finding oneself. The moment I read it, I got sucked in. I love how every detail made me think, ponder and love how much I can relate to a lot of things. Ethnic culture comes with a lot of expectations which sometimes is really hard when you are expected to follow and leave your own dreams behind, but I love how natural and easy it was for Ethan and Meena to fall for each other even with the "variables" that was supposed to be in the way. Ethan so sweet and thoughtful, never giving up, this book made me laugh, cry and and I love how they were able to figure things, not just Meena but for her friends as well to find the happiness they all truly deserved.
