Absolutely adored this book! It's a heartwarming romance between a romance writer (our swoon-worthy MMC) and a charming small-town bookstore owner (our relatable and lovable FMC)—plus a delightfully quirky cat that adds just the right touch of chaos and charm.

Tina has such a gift with words; her vivid descriptions pulled me right into the story. I felt like I was walking through the quaint town alongside the characters, smelling the books, hearing the chatter, and soaking in every detail.

The romance had a beautiful slow burn that felt natural and so believable. The chemistry between the characters built gradually and sweetly, making every moment they shared feel earned and deeply satisfying. It was heartfelt, warm, and full of that small-town magic I can't get enough of. I only wish there was more—I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters!

This was such a sweet small town romance story about a bookstore owner and a struggling romance author. Did I mention there is also a cat with lots of personality? I loved every bit of this story and I wish I could visit this fictional little town. This is the first book in the series and I will be picking up the next one soon.

Love Notes in the Margins by Tina Cyr Review

Love Notes in the Margins by Tina Cyr is a cozy, small-town sweet romance that feels like curling up in your favorite armchair with a warm cup of tea and a stack of cherished books. The story follows Mia, the devoted owner of a beloved bookstore café in Bluewater Cove, who has poured her heart into preserving her mother’s literary legacy. She loves books, community, and quiet confidence more than her own romantic dreams. When Oliver Blake, a successful romance novelist battling crippling writer’s block, wanders into town in search of inspiration, their worlds collide in a way that is both tender and unexpectedly emotional. Oliver begins jotting intimate observations about Mia in his private notes, and when she discovers them, the betrayal cuts deep; what was meant as admiration feels intrusive and misunderstood. What follows is a slow-burn journey of mistrust, healing, and realizing that love sometimes writes its own story in the margins of our lives.

The moment I started this book, I felt enveloped in the charming world of books and quiet affection that Tina Cyr builds so lovingly. Mia’s gentle passion for her bookstore and Oliver’s very human struggle with creativity made them feel like people I would happily sit beside at a weekend book signing or invite over for tea. Their chemistry grew naturally through shared laughter, thoughtful conversation, and small moments of vulnerability, reminding me how powerful connection can be when it is written honestly and with kindness.

The use of marginal notes as a bridge between hearts felt especially endearing, giving their slow-burn romance a fresh, intimate feel that went beyond typical meet-cute scenarios. I also adored the presence of Whiskers the cat, whose mischievous yet affectionate personality added lightheartedness and charm without overshadowing the emotional core of the story.

While the tiny trust conflict gave the story a gentle bump in the middle, I appreciated how the author handled it with sensitivity and emotional realism. Love Notes in the Margins left me smiling with a warm, contented heart, reminding me why I adore romances that unfold slowly, sweetly, and with plenty of bookish soul.

Rating: 4 out of 5
Because the heartfelt characters, warm small-town atmosphere, and beautifully slow emotional connection made this a delightfully uplifting romance.

Oliver Blake is trying to get some writing done so goes off grid in Whispering Pines ,not by design per se though he does need peace. It’s just that as well as peaceful and quiet. The Wi-Fi is intermittent he learns “Wait — off the grid?” “ Relax, city boy. There’s Wi-Fi somewhere around here. It just has… moods.” Well I’m loving it already . Tina Cyr has me immersing myself into this story she weaves so well ,I’m going to love this . I can tell. Especially when he’s encouraged to visit their BookClub in a Bookstore slash Cafe ,Purring Page is the name and I love this already ,the owner is Mia and the live in cat Whiskers thinks he is too. Well the name is apt for him too. Doesn’t this just sound so cute? I have every confidence this’ll be beaut! And I was NOT disappointed, not one jot . It’s got the lot has this ,its absolutely bliss. The cat’s whiskers ( I know I couldn’t resist ) It’s purrfect ( so sue me ,I like my puns ) storytelling ,ever so compelling and all . I sure had a ball. Mia is the typical romance lover . She has a secret of her own a legacy she keeps close to her heart. Her mom isn’t published but she has her notes put away in boxes upstairs, she’s travelling now perhaps one day she’ll finish a book when she’s done roaming and comes home. But an emergency has them under threat ,good job Oliver was there getting wet because he was her safest bet…It’s a pity that this author in her midst though a romance God is wanting to write a psychological thriller here,oh crud! His agent Amy is none too pleased either ,when she remarks this to the ether “Oliver, you are a romance icon. Your books are comfort reads. You have legions of fans who trust you to deliver emotional, sweeping love stories.” He’s not thinking of Amy though when from nowhere he starts to write romance scenes. These are the only things he’s writing down with Mia the muse. Now he’s found himself unable to write anything else . No he doesn’t want to write his normal genre but it seems that his mind or maybe his heart is gibing him this romance start. How this amazingly well devised beautiful story plays out is far out the best like it ,that I’ve read in years. I had literal tears! Was it their cute story or the laughing so much? Read for yourself and you’ll find your own favourite quote because ,I’ve loved everything this author has ever wrote. Love Notes in the Margin is high and flying ,it had me swooning ,sighing and fully enjoying every single word and page ,and to read ,it didn’t take an age. Just the right size to devour in a couple hour. Well I read fast, and I had a blast. You will too I’m sure . Who could ask for more?Tina Cyr. Encore!

Love Notes in the Margins is one of those rare reads that gently grabs hold of your heart and doesn't let go. I was lucky to receive an ARC of this beautifully layered story, and it exceeded all my expectations.

This book is an ode to quiet strength, to the unexpected power of words, and to love that grows in the most tender, vulnerable places. The concept of finding connection through annotated books and scribbled thoughts was absolutely enchanting—and it felt like such a unique, emotional way to show two characters slowly falling for each other.

Tina Cyr’s prose is poetic and emotionally resonant without ever feeling overdone. She balances depth and warmth so well, crafting characters you’ll want to protect, root for, and remember long after the last page. The romance was slow-burning and realistic, filled with moments that made me sigh, smile, and even tear up a bit.

If you’re a fan of meaningful, introspective romances with bookish vibes, quiet passion, and emotional depth, Love Notes in the Margins will be a new favorite. I’m so grateful I got to read this early—it’s a story I’ll carry with me.

"The best stories happen when people dare to be brave.... or foolish"

I adored this book. It was so simple and sweet and just the easy read I needed.
A romance author dealing with a nasty breakup + bookstore owner in a small town = recipe for healing and fresh love stories.

I really loved how Oliver really helps Mia come into her own. How he helps her in her literary journey. Also, all the small town quirks! it makes me want to move to Bluewater Cove, if only it wasn't fictional.

My only dislike I have would be to say I disagreed with the 3rd act drama. I saw the 'issue' from a completely different POV than the FMC. She took it for being used, and I took it as being seen. To be seen like that is clearly love.

This book is such a sweet gem! I absolutely adored the pairing of a romance author and a bookstore owner—how could that not be a perfect setup? The chemistry between Mia and Oliver is heart-melting, and their meet-cute instantly hooked me.

One thing that really stood out was the use of annotated notes in a book to bring them closer. As someone who loves marking up my reads, that detail felt extra special and so unique.

It’s a quick, cozy read filled with witty banter, tender emotions, and just the right amount of conflict to keep things interesting—without ever getting heavy. No steam, just kisses and all the feels. If you're in the mood for something romantic, uplifting, and well-written, this is definitely worth picking up.

This is a charming story that can be read in an afternoon. Oliver is having some serious writers block. So he hit the road and found a little out of the way cabin to try to write his manuscript. When he stumbles upon a small bookshop Café, he has swept into an enchanting world of Mia and whiskers. But everything is not perfect. When Mia discovers she’s not sure she can trust Oliver. Read along in this sweet and tender romance. It is a clean romance with some mild kissing. It did have some mild swearwords that personally I didn’t think were necessary.

Sweet but heartfelt, a man who has had his world turned upside down along with his heart torn to shreds and can't write his romance novels anymore. A woman who is running her mother's book store and believes she will never find the true love that she love reading about in the romance novels she adores and sells in her store. She helps him get his writing mojo back but at the cost of her feelings...... will they or won't they???? Will the match making cat help?

If you want sweet and heartwarming stories? Tina Cyr's work is the one to follow!

This book is full of fun banter and heartfelt characters, that keep you guessing if trust is something capable of creating, even after many tribulations passed. A lost spark is found and a dream has come true.
And if you're not convinced yet, a mischievous cat should do the trick, since he's the one keeping the MCs on their toes.

Another story I highly recommend.

I read a lot of dark stuff and this was such a great palate cleanser. It's short, sweet, and Oliver and Mia have to be the most adorable couple. I loved the concept of the annotating notes in the book helping to bridge that connection between them. I thought that was really unique and as an annotating girly, it made my heart happy. The story is very sweet and so well written, you could feel all the emotions of the characters. I really enjoyed this one. Definitely worth a read!

Mias love for books and just generally being a nice person and trying to always find the best books for people.
Oliver being in a writing slump and getting inspired by Mia just being her cheerful self was so cute.

Oliver an MIA are the sweetest couple goals. I honestly could see this as a cute mini series on tv. Don’t miss out on this story.

Tina wrote a wonderful story with heartfelt characters. The witty banter kept me entertained. I loved that a writer and a bookstore owner fall for each other. And what’s a romance without some conflict? In the end, love perseveres. You’ll have to read it to find out all the details. A quick, cozy read to brighten anyone’s day. Just be on the lookout for my favorite character, Whiskers the cat.

It was fun to read this and get caught up in the bookstore with Mia and writings with Oliver. But my favorite character was Whiskers the cat! Who knew a cat could have so much personality! This was a clean read and a slow burn. Another win from this author!

I bounced back and forth on how many stars and decided to give 3 1/2, rounded to 4. it is a good book, very clean and almost polite in the romance. I didn’t feel a spark, but it was cozy. Also a bit predictable. However, I don’t not want to recommend not you’d like a clean romance to read.
