Are you enjoying your Christian life? Or are you exhausted with trying? Do you understand how your Christian life works? Or are you frustrated with failure? Are you interested in real Christianity? Or are you held hostage by religious tradition?
The Christian life is primarily a relationship. But modern religion and our own unfounded assumptions have clouded and skewed that relationship into a system of performance-based acceptance that overlooks the dynamic, freely-offered grace of God.
Many Christians are hounded by fear, guilt, and discouragement. They open the Bible and see only condemnation. They struggle with trying to be “good enough”—knowing they fail regularly. Many just give up in despair and walk away—never to enjoy the real, grace-based relationship that Jesus offers.
In this compelling book, Cary Schmidt candidly and simply unpacks what real Christianity is all about. Through these pages, learn how you can embrace the grace, endure the struggle, and enjoy the relationship of truly knowing Jesus!
This is a wonderful book for anyone who is secretly growing frustrated with the Christian life. I recommend this book for every Christian whether you are new to the faith of have been following Jesus for years... Get this book.
The word "Christian" comes with multitude of various feelings or thoughts. To some it is a set of rules or regulations that one must adhere to. Others think of religious brainwashed zealots trying to disrupt society. Some think of hypocrites. Even amongst "true believers", the meaning of Christianity is influenced by culture, other Christians, and even our own personal preferences. Real Christianity by Carey Schmidt explores Biblically what a "true Christian" ought to be. Carey Schmidt does a great job not only connecting with his audience through personal stories including struggles but also always God's Word to defend itself behind the true meaning of being a Christian. His desire is that we return to true Biblical Christian. This book is a good read for both the "believer" and those who are not. It's crucially important that we allow God's Word to proclaim what a true believer and follower of Christ looks like. Authentic Christianity.
When I started a book that was supposed to be about the basics of Christianity, I did not expect to have some of my views refocused and redefined. This book is a wonderful look at the depth of the grace of God! I highly recommend this book.
Just finished Real Christianity by Cary Schmidt. Second time reading - first was in August of 2015. Definably worth the second reading. The book simply explains what real Christianity is all about.
One of my favorite books I've ever read! The way that Cary Schmidt opens your eyes to what Christianity is really about (a relationship with Jesus Christ) is phenomenal. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, whether you have been saved for twenty years, or you're not even a believer.
