Holy crap! Written on Skin was a stunning intense paranormal story! I loved the magic of the ink and how it all came together at the end. I think my only complaint is its way too short. I need more! I want to know more about everyone and their new journey.

This story starts with the heroine taking the plunge to get a tattoo. For some strange reason she can’t explain it feels like the shop is calling to her. Even though it is after hours Genevieve insists Fae is ‘the one’ who needs to tattoo her. Fae eventually agrees to do so, but on her terms, this is where the story takes a turn into the paranormal, and Gen discovers vampires do exist. She wakes up the next morning with not only a tattoo but puncture wounds and satisfied from numerous orgasms. I must say I was a little disappointed the sex was off page. For me, if orgasms are mentioned I want to be shown them not told about them, otherwise I feel the story blurs the lines between being marketed as mainstream or erotica, in my humble (smut loving) opinion.

After her night with Fae, Gen starts sensing other worldly entities and ends up going to a carnival with a close friend. It was often referred to as a Cirque, a word I hadn’t encountered before so I found myself educated while reading. It was an interesting day out, and through a series of events Gen finds herself wondering around on her own. Stumbling across a fortune teller she enters the big tent… and life is never the same again. To find out her fate you’ll need to read this little gem of a story.

Although this is book 2 in a series, I feel it can be read as a standalone. Fae from book one is mentioned but her part is short and fast.

In summary this was a fun story to read – featuring a dark carnival, shape shifters and all manner of creatures that go bump in the night.

My, hmm, at least third story by this author, though I know I've read more (that's the problem if you search for an author in 'My Books', it only gives you the books that the author is primary listed author on).

Second in this specific series, though. If I had known this was only 22 pages, I'd have completed this series a longish while ago. Though I had only given the first in the series a rating of 3.25, so, no wonder I hadn't looked to see length of second in series.

hmm. Fetischising getting tats. Fetisch. fetish. Fetishizing getting tattooes.

A woman enters a tat place. Is almost instantly sneered at and told that 'Fae' can't help her, because she's booked until the place cloes. Gen, that woman who entered the place, says she wants to look at the pictures on the walls. Eventually Fae comes out, informs Gen that she can't be helped, then starts saying things that make getting a tattoo a sexual act. And Gen acts aroused.

And I, the reader, spent time at that exact moment attempting to remember how to spell fetishising. heh. Right, back to the story.

"You'll wear my art, but I will choose it." - says Fae to Gen. Um . . wha?

hmms. Then Fae gets Gen to strip completely. And I, the reader, am not sure if I should be reacting like a Vulcan, kind of sitting back with an arched eyebrow watching this weird act, or acting like . . . I don't know, a horny teenager? hmms.

Story continues. Aftermath of accepting tats that are more than ink on skin. Tats that have magic in it. And still 'burn' six months later. Oh. Vampires. Right. That's what that was about.

Gen has trouble with these changes - accepting them. They are overwhelming her. For the tats allow her to see what's really there - the creatures walking hidden to most others.

...
Quite interesting and strange story. Ended too soon. I want more.

My favourite vampire Fae is back in this accompanying piece to Sigil Fire. While Fae does not play a large part, yet she is essential to this wonderful new story. Written on Skin is a suspenseful tale of a lonely and lost young woman trying to find her place in the world.

As with most things Ms Bishop writes I was drawn into her tale, her words weaving a brilliant tapestry for me to see, feel and hear with new characters I want to know more about! I really, really liked it. I would love to see a whole series of shorts revolving the humans, vampires and others Ms Bishop has created in this world!

This is the second book in the world of Sigil Fire. A much longer work is in progress- novella due out in 2015. Stay tuned for Fae and Sonia's first Christmas/Yule together with the new holiday anthology from Ylva coming soon.

Meanwhile I hope you enjoy this foray into a dark carnival, shape shifters and all manner of creatures that go bump in the night.

Hugs and happy reading...

I am in love! Carnivals, shape shifters and shadows…oh my! Provocative, steamy and intelligent, Ms. Bishop clearly evokes the sentiment she is genuine mistress of her craft. I love tales about those who are lost or alone and their journey to self discovery. Ms. Bishop gave me all that and more. Hear tell there's a longer book in the process for this series and I, for one, am waiting with bated breath.

Although I don’t normally read f/f books I am a fan of this author and thought I would give it a try. It is a well written paranormal tale that is entertaining and not at all predictable! An intriguing and interesting storyline with great characters and is well worth a read!

This was a good story. Not usually what I read but I like this author so I thought to give it a try. I thought the plot and character development was really good.

Gen is having an awful day after her boss tries something. After having coffee with a friend, she goes to look for a job and maybe a tattoo. Things go interesting from there. Mariah has work at the Cirque Nocturne for years now and loves what she does. She is a Phoenix shifter. The ladies do not get off on the right foot though fate has other plans for them.

I didn’t realise that this is book 2 even though it says it on the cover but that’s me taking not much notice but I will do what I can with this review. Gen loves her job but she is getting sexually harassed by the owner and one night he goes too far so Gen quits her job. Gen goes to a tattoo shop Forever Ink to get a tattoo but she gets a lot more than a tattoo. This is a great story and I didn’t realise it was f/f so maybe I should look better next time I see the authors name and get the book straight away, I did enjoy this story and I recommend this book.

I loved everything about this book. Miriah finding her chosen family at Cirque Nocturne hooked me right off. I loved her beautiful phoenix, to bad her "friends" didn't. Gen was a surprise. Gaining power through a tattoo was a wonderful twist. This was a great book that I finished in no time. I just couldn't stop reading it. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

An interesting story with some paranormal that isn’t the usual. There are vampires and shifters but this one also has a Phoenix and then there is Gen. I’m not totally sure on what you would call her. A few days ago it would of been human. But after a visit to a special tattoo shop everything changed for her and about her. The cirque may be the only place to help her find out what she is. The story bounces between Mariah, the Phoenix and Gen. The romance is f/f and is silly and sweet at times.

Gen is leading a fairly boring life, when she forced to resign from her job, as her bosses attention crosses a line. Not knowing what to do with herself she feels drawn to a tattoo parlour. Being introduced to her first paranormal there, she is inked for free at the request of the goddess. Since then, strange things happen to her and she needs to not only find out what she has become and what her purpose is in life, but also understand the dynamic of suddenly having a mate.
the story is interesting in so far, as Gen needs to cope on so many levels and in addition to learn to trust the people she is surrounded by to do what is best for her.
A fairly unique take to coping with changes and especially to start understanding and acceptance of who she has become.

Gen's wolf shifter boss wants to make her his mate against her will. She runs, and for some reason that she doesnt really understand, she goes into Forbidden Ink, a tattoo shop. What happens in there completely confuses her - has she been turned into a vampire? Or some other kind of shifter? All she knows is that she feels ill, and cant keep any food down. She is told to go to Cirque Nocturne for answers, and meets Maliah - a blue Phoenix shifter. What will happen to Gen here? Will she surviv when Rob comes looking to claim her? Loved this story, and also the bonus short story of Wilde which was included.

This was a really interesting paranormal story. I wasn’t at all sure how it was going to turn out, the plot wasn’t predictable or boring, and seemingly unconnected events all came together in the end. It is a lovely f/f pairing, and very entertaining.
I loved the concept of the circus, and I really enjoyed reading this.
