I’ve always been fascinated by ghosts. They’re simply lost souls looking for the conclusion to their story. After years of chasing the phantom of Stone into the night, I’ve sought to live and love again in the new chapter of my life. I’m not the naïve girl I once was. I know what I want, what I need. But like the tortured spirits wandering the earth, can I find the happy ending I crave or will the apparitions of the past destroy any chance of everlasting bliss?

Sweet. Sassy. Southern.

Born in Ohio but raised in Pickens, SC, Jennifer Rae Gravely graduated from Converse College with a triple major in history, politics, and English before earning a master's degree in education. Returning to her high school alma mater to teach English and coach volleyball, Gravely's teams won six state championships and eight upper state titles in twelve years. Moreover, the SCACA named her coach of the year for the 2013 season and the NFHS selected her for the South Carolina volleyball coach of the year in 2014.

Jennifer writes about the fictional Southern town of Keowee. The Astraea Press novels, Knight of the Dead and Set to Love, in addition to the short story, "Love and Diamonds," deal with present day Keowee and are contemporary romances. The edgier novels of the Orders of the Sky series Drown and Rivers, published by Blue Tulip Publishing, take place in the eighties and nineties. Drown won the 2015 RomCon’s Readers’ Crown award for Mainstream Fiction.

She lives with her gorgeous husband, beautiful teenage daughter, seven baying beagles, and one rescued barn cat.

"I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU I COMPLETED HIS THOUGHTS, MY THOUGHTS"

Well, this book has all the angst, if not more, of the first book, Drown. I would describe it as a soap opera where you despise so many of the characters but you have to keep coming back for more, to find out what will happen next.

"Our destinies overlapped like the waves against the shore, meeting then pushing away, meeting then pushing away."

Andie Drown is a strong woman, but definitely not without faults. Once again I wanted to yell at her, "what are you doing now?" Her life is one rollercoaster ride after another. I loved how she was with her Mema as she was dying of cancer, strong and compassionate. Although she makes some questionable choices, I felt bad for her several times and could almost understand what drove her to making those decisions. So much happens in the story, from heartache, lies, betrayal, infidelity, abandonment, dark secrets that haunt and destroy, and maybe even some hope.

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

This story is told from the female lead's point of view. I have to say that I love books with various point of views and would like to have seen it from the male lead's point of view as well. I can see why Ms.Gravely only chose the female lead POV further on in the book. I would loved to have seen parts of this book from a couple of the male leads point of view later on.

This is not a stand alone book! You need to read Drown in order to understand this book!

WARNING: DOES CONTAIN SOME ADULT SITUATIONS AND CONTENT

This story follows a young woman by the name of Andie Drown throughout several yeas of her life. We follow her life from immediately, following the book Drown, December 1992 and throughout her life until May 1995.. Andie lives through some rough times including her meme passing away, mother's second marriage, her marriage to Jackson Rivers, still drowning her sorrows anyway she can and as always pinning after only one guy, Stone.

Andie goes to Wilmington to take care of her meme because she is sick with cancer. When she gets there she is shocked to see that her mother is engaged to be married. This is where she finds out that Stone is happily married. She decides it is time to move on with her life. Jackson Rivers is the man for her to move on with, it seems.

Jackson Rivers makes Andie feel loved and like she finally belongs somewhere. Andie then meets Jackson's best friend Drew. Andie and Drew hit it off right away. Andie does love Jackson and marries him. Jackson seems to be away for business a lot, so Andie goes to grad school to occupy her time. She still seems to pine after one man, Stone. Andie still drowns her sorrows in liquor at the extravagant parties they attend when Jackson is home.

Jackson also has a good friend, Nella, yes she tries to make Andie jealous by hanging all over Jackson. But does it work? Does Andie end up being unfaithful to her husband?
What happens to Andie when Jackson demands a family? What does Andie do when Jackson is gone all the time? Who does Andie occupy all her time with? Does Andie find herself in this thriller of a book or does she drown in her misery?

Andie gets a call one night that will turn her life upside down. It all comes down to one call, one death, one accident, one choice, one man.
These questions will be answered in this book and the next. Yes. this book ends with a semi cliffy! You will need to buy the much anticipated 3rd book coming out Winter 2015! Jennifer is a great new and upcoming author you sure don't want to miss!

This book complicated me in ways that I was planning to not finish it or just put it on hold- forever.

I don't know where to start with this book. The ending really got me excited for this book but after awhile I got really annoyed at the flow of the story how Andie was all anxious and keep seeing this "ghost" and how she is lonely and unhappy and how her pride was always on the way.

UGH, I just can't.

I am an Andie and Stone shipper, so every time she is with other men- let alone bed with them just makes my blood boil. I really wanted to shout at Andie for her decisions in life. But alas, she is only young and confused about life. She wanted to live where the world is at peace and no war - this is the complication I see when she is with Stone in the first book, which is why they always bicker. It was hard for me when Andie doesn't admit her strong feelings for Stone. Reading the middle part was like walking in water where everything is slower and more difficult. Basically this is all the POV of Andie which makes sense for us readers, her pain was our pain and her joy was our joy.

When the time has come that it finally comes full circle, I saw history repeats itself. I think this quote would give you a guess as to what I am pertaining to.

"No it's not; because of the happy ending. We're going to get the happy ending, you wait and see... I'll wait tables if I need to."

After the last part of the book, I WAS LEFT SPEECHLESS. This really complicates things for the rest of the story. I do hope that the next and last book would be a come back to all the torture I have endured in this book.

I plan on not finishing it but I was glad that I did because I have a "always-finish-what-you-began" code in reading.

This is a 2-2.50 for me.

I really enjoyed this book. The first book was good but this book was even better!!! It is not often that a sequel outreaches the book before it but this is one of the exceptions to that. Jennifer Rae Gravely managed to pull me into Andie's story. I hurt with her. I forced myself to stay awake even though my eyes burned from lack of sleep just to get in a few more chapters.

There are characters you will hate, some you will love. I cannot say much more than that because I do not want to give anything away. But Andie's journey is one I am looking forward to continuing to read. She struggles with real problems, she is flawed and beautifully so. It is so refreshing to see a a main character who is not perfect.

Hopefully, the third book will come out soon.

I am new at reviews so I will do my best. But this series is Awesome!!! I read Drown and was amazed at the end. Great book. Rivers topped Drown for sure!! So many emotions wrapped up in one book! Andie (in my opinion) is one tough cookie!! And like the first book, I totally didn't expect it to end the way it did! My thoughts.... Wow!!!! Loved it! Can't wait for the next book in this series for sure.
