Being trans is hard. Figuring out how to deal with it is harder.
This guidebook gives instruction on the things every trans guy will face when he comes out of the closet. From Binding to Packing, to Bathrooms to Coming Out, this book tells you the best and easiest ways for FTM (female to male) transsexuals to ease into the beginning of their transition, before the testosterone hormone therapy and before the gender reassignment surgery.
Don't worry, dude. You're not alone. Let someone have your back.
R.O.C. Tree is the author of a variety of transgender literature ranging from personal nonfiction to guide books to short stories to novels. Tree himself identifies as queer, and his unique perspective into the lives and struggles of other queer and transgender individuals drives him to write the literature that he does. He pens his stories for those in the transgender community in hopes that they help someone somewhere come to terms with their own identity, whatever it may be.
I saw this book on kindle unlimited and thought "Hey! I'm pre-op, pre-t!" I was a little dubious, probably because of the cover.
I AM SO GLAD I READ THIS! Its a wonderful, witty, humorous, inclusive book. It touched base on things I had been thinking about and worrying about and helped put my mind at ease. Particularly, the chapter on bathrooms.
I was worried at first, as it starts off with a binding chapter. My mind just kept saying "please don't tell people to bind with ace bandages, pleasepleaseplease!" And I was so happy to see the warnings about ace bandage binding listed very clearly.
Overall, this book is very relatable if you are FTM/trans man (whichever you prefer). I was worried it was going to make me dysphoric (can you tell i've read some highly triggering trans books in the past? worry worry worry). The book however, uses a tone like you are just "one of the guys". I really appreciated that.
My only qualm is that I wish it was longer! I know you can only talk about so much, but I enjoyed it so much that I wish there was more. I 10/10 recommend this.
The author makes this book fun and keeps it light hearted. I recommend this one if you are just getting started on your journey or know someone who is.
