4 stars!

I adore Michelle Valentine’s rock star books. When I started Wicked White, I was expecting something similar to her Black Falcon series. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book was so different from any of her others. I loved that Ace wasn’t your typical rock star. Then again, none of Michelle’s rockers are typical. That’s what makes them so special.

Ace White is the lead singer of Wicked White. He’s more successful than he ever dreamed he would be, but he’s done. Done with the fame, with having no control of his music and his life. So he takes off some place no one will no him and he can be alone for a while and figure things out.

 photo 0f1c2ad0-aecc-4552-97d2-dafa9be7df7c_zps6bhf9trn.jpg

Ace never dreamed in the small trailer park in the middle of nowhere Ohio he would meet someone like Iris Easton. Iris is home handling some family affairs. She’s been living in NYC for the last few years trying to make in on Broadway. She and Ace are pulled to one another. She likes him, but he pushes her away. Ace feels he can’t get involved. He’s not there permanently and it wouldn’t be fair to Iris.

 photo 1569da59-cf18-4b9a-a92e-8e7645b5f967_zps4e0eph2g.jpg

He tries hard to keep his distance, but it’s near impossible. Ace knows he has to come clean with Iris, but it’s a less than ideal situation. They have each other and want to be together, but is it enough when the truth about Ace comes out?
“I don’t care what it is you’re running from, Ace. I’ll be with you anywhere. I’m yours.”
Wicked White is a sweet rockstar read. I enjoyed both Ace and Iris’s characters. Michelle’s writing is fantastic as always. I’m hoping we’ll get more of Ace and Iris because my only real complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed and I wanted more of their story! Seeing as how this is listed as Wicked White #1, I’m hoping the next book is a continuation of their story!

Ace is a famous musician on the run after walking out on a show. He is over his life and how it lost direction somewhere along the road to fame. He wants to change things, regroup, and find himself again. So he runs away to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, there he meets Iris.

Iris has just returned to her family’s trailer park after losing her grandmother. She is at a lost at what to do, she too is a singer, but on Broadway. She wants to go back to New York and pursue her dreams, but also feels obligated to keep her grandmother’s legacy. When she meets Ace, she is completely captivated by his looks, but when he protects her she falls for real.

Wicked White was definitely not the rocker book I was expecting. When I started I imagined there would be tons of angst surrounding the couple and their connection. Unlike most rocker books the angst came more in the form of outside forces. This story is lots of fun and super sweet, but even for a girl like myself who likes her stories light on angst it was a little too sweet. That is my only complaint I just wanted more.

That being said if you are looking for a super sweet read, that will melt your heart this is the book for you.

If you’re familiar with my readings you know that I’m a huge fan of rock stars romance, Add Michelle Valentine from whom I’ve read amazing rock-stars books and it’s a guaranteed by for me. To be honest this book didn’t amaze me. The insta-love felt a little forced and there was almost no build up towards their relationship and despite being a nice reading and a very well written book, I felt bored for good chunks of it.
However, if you’re looking for a quick and sexy romance, this book may be a good option.

After reading the Black Falcon series I was not expecting this book to be so sweet. I found the story of Ace and Iris just so ridiculously beautiful and I never wanted it to end.

Ace is on tour with his bitch of a manager and the band he doesn't even know when he get's the call saying that the woman who raised him is in the hospital and won't make it very long. Giving the band a big, fuck you, he leaves to go say his last goodbyes and doesn't plan on coming back. After leaving the hospital he hops on his brand new motorcycle and takes off, hiding from his record label and the media.

Iris just came back to Sarahsville from New York to take over her late grandmother's trailer lot, Willow Acres. She's looking for a new tenant, and Ace is the mysterious guy who rides up on his bike answering her ad. Right away Iris is drawn to her new tenant and want's to know more about him. Ace tries to keep his distance though, and just wants his peace. But once he hears Iris singing, he can no longer stay away and wants to help her reach her dream of being on Broadway.
It's almost as if we were fated to be.

Wicked White was not your typical rockstar romance about the bad boy rocker whose a playboy and has to be tamed. This was so much better! This story was pure romance that will make you swoon and wish Ace Johnson a.k.a Ace White was a real person so that you can go kidnap him. Ace was so sweet and so romantic it made my heart skip a beat, I mean, the dude quoted Shakespeare!

Overall, this I thoroughly enjoyed his story and thought it was wonderful. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

I just didn't buy this you know?

The story started pretty well. If you're following my reviews and checking out the book I read then you'll know that rockstars are a favorite of mine. Musicians, actually. I just really like reading their hurty feelings and some of them are just misunderstood. And most of them? Absolutely swoony! That's why the blurb of Wicked White really appealed to me. A rockstar who just wanna run away from it all?

description

But then Instalove happened.

InstaAttraction, I can tolerate. But these two characters fell in love so fast, its ridiculous! Ace, our rockstar is all wounded up at the first chapter and then the next he's falling in love.

Not to mention this girl, Iris, doesn't act her age at all. She's more like 16. And that's just a big no for me. By the near end, the book still failed to make me believe this ~true love~ and I just lost interest. In everything!!

***3,5 - 3,75 "Forgive me Juliet" stars***

When i received an Arc copy from "Montlake Romance" publications about "Wicked White", i was so thrilled...

You see, i have read "Black Falcon" series from Michelle A. Valentine and i adored her crazy rockers...
I love rockers in general because they are wild and untamed but this one was a little bit different from them... But he manage to earn my heart also...

Ace White was leaving his dream as a popular rock star, but lately he wasn't so satisfied about that fact...
He was feeling like he was living a fake life...
He was feeling like a puppet that others moved the threads wherever they want.
He was feeling like he had no opinion in matters that concern him...

First of all, he is a member of a band that was constructed for a reason and his bandmates give him a hard time.
Secondly, his mananger forced him to do whatever she wants for the "good" of the band.
And third, the record label, denies him to write and sing his own songs.
For all these above reasons he is unhappy. He doesn't like that he is forced to sing tracks that he doesn't like and he doesn't see to have a chance in the near future to do whatever he likes...
He is condemned to dance in the rhythm that all the others play for him...

One day, few minutes before to start their concert he received a call that the woman he always thought as his mother, is in bad condition to the hospital. The only thing that Ace has on his mind at this moment is to go to her as soon as it's possible but when he meets the disapproval of his bandmates and his mananger, he had enough and he decides to do what his heart was telling him to do...

After that incintent and since his mother died, Ace takes the decision to run away from this life that he don't want to be a part anymore... He changes his appearance and his bike leads him to a trailer park away from the loudly city and near to Iris...

Iris recently lost her grandmother who was like a mother to her and she inheritted the trailer park that her grandmother owned. So Iris, put her dream to be a Brodway singer on hold until to find out what she will do with the park and her grandmother's depth. The only thing that she wants is to get over with all those things as soon as it's possible before to get back in New York and in the chasing of her dream... But her priorities are changing when handsome and mysterious Ace Johnson comes and rents the trailer near to her.

Iris in drown to him from the first moment that lays her eyes on him, but he is hostile towards her from the begining and that makes her wonder what the hell is wrong with him.

Ace from the other hand, he is interesting in Iris too but he had to much things to hide and he doesn't want to thrown her in a life of chasing... Because his flee had everyone on edge... Everybody is looking for him and they are determined to find him...
But as much as he is trying to stay away from Iris is impossible...

So what will happen next???
Will Ace and Iris be able to built a life together away from everyone or everything will be about to blown up???
How will Iris react when she finds out who Ace really is???

There's a future out there for those two or the circumstances will tear them apart???

Well, i have to say that i really liked that story...
It was different that the usual books with rock-stars and that was charming.
I liked very much Iris. She was so kind, so sweet, so caring...
And Ace was so different from the usual musicians... His mind was straight, he didn't like to overreact and he didn't enjoy to do the extreme things that everybody else was doing in this industry. He just wanted a normal life and the right to do whatever he wants with his music and his career... Ace was trying so hard to earn his freedom, because he seems to be locked up in a role that he didn't like and that was so pity...

Ace and Iris have so many obstacles to overcome and many misunderstandings to solve, but their love is steady and solid as a rock...

I have to tell you that the "media circus" as Ace was saying them drove me crazy...
For God's sake, they were so insisting!!!
His manager??? I wanted to kill her... She even put a reward for Ace... As if he was a prisoner...

Phew!!! I was so mad at this point...

So, this was a very good and interesting book that i enjoyed very much.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book before gets out in the stores...

4 Sweet and Angst (I love a rocker) Stars

Wicked White is a standalone and is part of the Wicked White series. I am assuming the next book continues Iris and Ace’s story, but I am not 100% sure.

This is my second Valentine book. I read Naughty King and loved it. I haven’t read her Black Falcon series, but it’s my understanding Black Falcon is less sweet and more emotional. You will be surprised that I’m not a huge rocker fan. I do read them, but it’s usually only for authors that I love or the book has raving reviews.

I was very nervous getting into this one because of all of the reviews, but I was very lucky to meet Michelle at a book signing and well she’s just fabulous and how could I not read Wicked White?

Wicked White to me is kind of like two books. The first half is sweet, adorable and completely romantic. The second half of the book is angst, drama and I’ll say it again, Angsty. It’s that A word again, but we will get to that.

Ace White is the lead singer of a boy band group. His band is produced by a record label and he has zero creative control. He hates what he does and all he wants to do is write and play music. When he finds out his mom is sick, he decides to go MIA and leave the group.

Ace finds himself in a small town, living in a trailer park. The Trailer park is owned by Iris.

Iris is a young-something girl coming back home to handle her grandmother’s estate, the trailer park. Iris lives in NY and wants to be a singer on Broadway. She goes home to handle her grandmother’s affairs, but Iris has plans to go back to NY to pursue her dream.

I loved the beginning of the book. I found Iris and Ace complete opposites, but complete alike if that makes sense. Ace is broody, mysterious and keeps to himself. He doesn’t want to draw attention to himself since he’s trying to lay low. Iris is kind and open. She is attracted to Ace and is curious what his story is. Where does he come from? What is he doing in this small town? How come he wears designer clothes, but stays in a trailer park?

I love the mild tension between Ace and Iris. Ace keeps on pushing Iris away, but he’s always there to take care of her, when she’s in trouble. I love that! I love my damsel in distress storyline. It’s just really cute. As the relationship grows, stuff starts to happen.

I think this is where a lot of readers struggled. Something happens and it causes everything to blow up. At first I was okay with this change of pace because I knew Valentine needed to create tension, but I felt like the tension should start to shift into something else, but it just kept on building up and building up and I was pulling my hair out. Yup, it’s the angst!

I love the overall direction of the story and I love the characters. I liked the book and even though I struggled with the last part, I feel like Valentine added that crazy last bit to give us a different outlook on the relationship (the less pretty side).

What really worked for me was the pace, tone and how easy it was to read. Yes, there was drama but the flow was great and I read this book in one sitting.

I was so lucky to meet Michelle at RT in Dallas. She was so generous and she handed copies of Wicked White to her fans. I couldn't believe that?! This is my second book I've read from her, but it won't be the last.

I have read the 1st book in Michelle A Valentine’s Black Falcon Series, which I really liked. I am crazy about rock star stories, so what a treat…..another one comes may way.

What a fabulously lovely and sweet tale

It’s an endearing and feel good and uplifting story that just made my day!!!

Iris Easton is the most endearing and lovable woman, who meets her Prince Charming disguised as a rock star!!!! But Ace White is not just a rock star….he’s so much more than that!!
 photo 257dbe3b-0266-4c71-b526-6f24cb48cb7d_zpssfqirpfs.png
This story takes place, not in the frenetic and drug and drink infused world of rockstars but set in a little and obscure town…population 168…..and in a trailer park, where our rockstar is hiding from his rockstar life!!!! There he meets a wonderful woman, who sees beneath his fame and fortune…..who falls in love with the person he is and not with his fame!!!
 photo Spotlight20and20Giveaway_zps1jmkminq.jpg
I loved that their relationship grows over a period of time and not an insta-love thing….

If you want to read a cute and lovely story of a rockstar falling in love with someone like you or me…without having all the angst, drugs, drinks and rock and roll of a rockstar life….then this is the one for you!!!!

I absolutely loved Michelle A. Valentine's "Black Falcon" series so as soon as I heard that Michelle had written another music based series, I couldn't wait to get stuck in. Unfortunately "Wicked White" did not have the same impact on me and I felt that this story was not as good as I had expected it to be. I was left feeling a little disappointed.
Iris Easton is not the kind of girl you can sleep with one time and never see again. She's the kind of girl that makes you change everything you thought you ever wanted in life just to be with her.
This book follows the story of Ace White, the lead singer of rock group "Wicked White". Ace had been well and truly swallowed up by the music industry, so much so that he had begun to hate the lifestyle that he was living. He couldn't stand another minute of life with the band so he went on the run, escaping from all of his commitments with Wicked White. Ace was a soft and gentle kind of guy, most of the time. He was not the kind of guy who I would associate being in a rock band and it was kind of obvious why he felt like he didn't belong there. Although Ace came across as placid, there were moments in the book where I saw him display a fiery temper. This surprised me at first. I guess you could say he had a split personality. He reminded me a little of The incredible Hulk, Ace could be all soft and loving but if someone made him angry, that person knew about it pretty fast! lol!
I'm going to make Mom proud of me and be a man who stands on his own two feet and lives by his own rules. I don't want to go back to that life. The fame-reporters always in my face-I'm done with it all. I want a life of simplicity, and that's what I'm going to set out to find.

Following the loss of her Grandmother, Iris was struggling to get by. Life was tough but she hardly ever complained. Iris was a sweet and fun loving girl or just needed a break... a fairy godmother to rid her of the grim life that she was leading. When Iris and Ace met, they were both instantly attracted to one another and I began to see some hope that life would improve for Iris. However things were not as easy as you'd think. With Ace's rock star past beginning to catch up with him, it was only a matter of time before Ace and Iris' relationship was put to the test.
"I don't care what it is you're running from, Ace. I'll be with you anywhere. I'm yours"
Iris and Ace made a sweet couple but I wondered what would happen to the pair once Ace's truth was uncovered. Despite the frustratingly slow pace of the story I continued on because I wanted to know what Iris and Ace's future held. As this book was the first in the series, I wasn't sure if I would get to see Iris and Ace find their HEA or if this book would end with a cliffhanger and I would have to wait until book two before I got some answers. Luckily, I was pleased to discover that everything between Ace and Iris was all settled by the last page so this book can be read as a standalone.

I loved the premise of "Wicked White" and I thought that it was a unique twist to the usual rock star series' that I've previously read. I found the main characters to the story were both likeable and I enjoyed getting to them, however I didn't fall in love with Iris or Ace. I also felt that the story was really slow paced and failed to excite me in the way that I hoped it would which frustrated me. I wanted so much for this book to amaze me but sadly it didn't deliver.

"Wicked White" gets ❤️❤️❤️

A Michelle Valentine book that features a rock star? Yes please!

Ace White thought that getting to live his dream would be perfect, but the glitz and glam isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. When he gets news of his adopted mother’s failing health, he makes a choice – leave all that he thought he wanted to go home to spend the final moments with the only person who had ever loved him. But Ace doesn’t just leave for a brief moment, he escapes. Abandons his fame, his fans and his contract obligations to disappear. Looking for a place where he can hid and just be himself.

For Iris, she left home to live her dream in New York, auditioning to make a go at becoming a Broadway star, but when her grandmother passes, she returns home to attempt to get her grandmother’s affairs in order. When she finds herself in need of a tenant to fill one of the vacant trailers, she meets Ace. A mysterious, but hot, stranger that seems bound and determined to not play nice. But Iris isn’t going to take no for an answer and decides to kill him with kindness.

As these two get closer, Ace’s past just can’t seem to let go of the search for the missing star. Both found something beautiful that is about to be shattered by reality, or is it?

Before I go fangirl, cause that is gonna happen – Let me first say that I did struggle with how nice Ace was. I tend to lean towards the jerk-heroes and Ace, although did some stupid things, was truly such a nice guy. What salvaged him for me was that he was broken and if there is one thing I love just as much as the jerk – it’s the broken kind. I just felt like I wanted to hold his hand through most of this and tell him that it’s all going to be okay, that someone out there will love him.

For Iris, I loved getting a dose of a strong heroine that wasn’t just filled with a bunch of clichés that often accompany a new adult read these days. She was a great mix of vulnerable and strength and I absolutely adored her.

These two were a perfect match and complimented each other beautifully. The story also had a few moments where it could have been predictable, but yet, Ms. Valentine kept you on your toes by not taking the easy way out.

For fans of this author, you’re bound to love this one. For those that have not yet read her books, if you’re a fan of sweet romance one that has a lower range of angst – but still has you a bit nervous – this is a perfect choice.

Rock Star, Ace leaves it all behind after the loss of his mother. Taking on a fake identity, Ace moves into a trailer park that has seen better times. Of course the rock star disappearing leaves a media fire storm in its wake and lots of people searching for the missing lead singer, Ace.

Iris dreamt of making it big on Broadway in NYC, but when her grandmother dies Iris must return to the trailer park her grandmother owned. Settling affairs is more difficult than she anticipated.

Ace and Iris don’t hit it off right away but eventually a difficult and very rocky relationship ensues.

I liked Wicked White, the romance was heartfelt but I found the characters choices so far beyond rational or common sense for me, I just couldn’t connect to the story.

This is a good story for someone who enjoys a quick and easy read with a difficult budding romance.

I received this ARC copy of Wicked White from Amazon Publishing - Montlake Romance in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication June 23, 2015.

this was an ok love story. I did have a couple of problems with it, but it's probably just me and other people will love the story. I didn't like a guy quoting Shakespeare during sex. Not romantic to me, but maybe I've read too much Shakespeare.
He compares himself to Romeo. Ok, read some Romeo and Juliet first. Romeo claims to be in love with one girl then dumps her when he sees Juliet. He has a volatile temper and kills a couple of guys. So he's a player with a temper. Not good boyfriend material.
But I did learn something about rock bands, and wonder how many bands broke up for the same reasons. When My Chemical Romance broke up, we almost held a wake at my house. I still mourn for the Beatles.
Anyway, to me the characters needed a bit more developing. I never quite attached to them.

I refuse to call a book with characters over twenty-five a New Adult book. It’s just not.

Though she doesn’t put in an appearance until 10% of the way into the book, I knew from page two of Wicked White exactly what Iris was going to look like:

One of the most breathtaking women I’ve ever seen. Her long, dark hair falls over her shoulders in soft waves; her makeup is light, revealing her naturally smooth complexion, which causes her green eyes to sparkle. (Why does her complexion make her eyes sparkle??)

Because every other female character who appears is described this way:

The busty blond wearing a too-tight tank top squeals as she approaches my table.

Most of these women have no shame and will flop their tit out on a dime.

The bottle-blond twentysomething waitress.

The blond doesn’t immediately go away.
(And of course propositions him twenty seconds after serving him a drink – blonds are apparently slutty like that!)

Romances without misogynistic stereotyping are even better than romances with it!!

Wicked White had lots of potential, however The Twilight Effect hit again: the tendency too many contemporary romance authors have to refer to all female characters other than the heroine as irritating blond things who just get in the poor guy’s way. Women are angels or whores, and there’s no more complexity to them than that. The tone was set from the very beginning of the book, and because of that I was too on edge with the misogyny to be able to enjoy the plot.

Another consequence of The Twilight Effect: sticking the heroine in out-of-the-blue perilous situations in order for the hero to muscle in and save the day (in this case, violently). I’m all for suspense and danger in books, but not when it happens for no good reason, painting the woman as a damsel who needs the man to come and punch someone.

I am also not at all a fan of the present tense in fiction.

A good idea for a plot, but all the problematic themes of too many recent books were present in this one, and I could not get past them to enjoy it.

I have been a Michelle Valentine fan ever since I read her Black Falcon series. The series kept a good pace, containing interesting characters, and carried a lot of steam. That being said, I was super excited to start a new rocker series by her. Although Wicked White was a solid read, it didn't quite hit the mark for me in the "loved it" category. I suppose my primary reason for holding that feeling is that the characters didn't really mesh well for me. Ace was initially mean and surly toward Iris. Sure, he did so to fight his intense attraction for her and the author explained it well. I just never felt a connection between the characters. They certainly had physical chemistry, but even that failed to solidify their relationship for me. So, I had a difficult time believing the confessions of love when they came...especially when those confessions were not solid enough to stand the first sign of adversity that hit the relationship. About 3/4's of the way into the book, almost up to the end, I had trouble deciding who I wanted to smack more -- Iris for her actions in "protecting" Ace or Ace in his "broken-hearted-woe-is me" reaction. The angst was killing me. However, if you don't mind a bit of angst, the back and forth vacillations between them won't bother you at all.

The end of the story also fell a bit flat. I know this is the beginning of the series so I'm sure we will see more of the couple, but I would have like a bit more of a concrete happily ever after for them especially after enduring all the back and forth that took them to reach a point of "okay".

As this is the inaugural book in the series, I won't give up on it. I'll definitely give the other books a shot and hope for a bit ... more.

Wicked White was a quick lighthearted read. I've had this on my kindle for ages and finally had time to get started on this series. I liked Ace. He was the typical foster kid with the stroke of luck that got him discovered and thrusted into fronting the popular pop band, Wicked White. A product of marketing and record label and control, he's reached a point where he's not happy with the road his fame is taking him.

It's so common for rock star romances, these days, to be filled with the band mates living up the groupie life and sucking up all the fame that's thrown their way. I liked that Wicked White was different. The band doesn't get along. Ace may be famous, but he's a puppet. Who would be happy being a puppet? He truly wants to express himself through his music. Because of the way he grew up, music was his outlet and that part of him has been locked away since his discovery by the record executives.

Ace goes into hiding to find himself again and get away from the life that ended up not being all that he'd hoped for. He meets Iris and thought he's attracted, pushes her away at every turn. Of course, the attraction and Iris's kindness are both hard to resist and they find themselves getting closer. Their shared passion for music someone to share a life with forges a bond between them that gets tested once the secret gets out.

There's a bit of angst and plenty of sweet romancing and swoon moments; however, I left off one star because Ace had a couple moments where I wanted to revoke his man card. He seemed a bit whiney and it put me off a bit. Other than that, it was a sweet and refreshing read.

Wicked White, by the marvelous Michelle Valentine, is a wickedly wonderful, witty, raw, and racy roller coaster of a rock star romance that will swallow your heart and soul. Michelle Valentine is terrifically talented in transforming words to reality, bringing characters to life and making you fall in love with them, plopping you right into the story, and giving you huge case of the feels every step of the way. Wicked White is oh-so-swoonworthy yet sensitive. It's a soul-searing and moving masterpiece where you'll experience nearly every emotion while taking this ride into book bliss: happiness, frustration, anger, laughter, and sadness.

I love this book because it is not your typical rocker romance read where the rock star is a playboy, and loves the fame and money and meets the lady who reforms him. No, this rocker is done with the rock star life and wants a good girl--someone to claim his heart and soul--to rock his world.

As I have a super sweet spot for rockers, I devour rock star books like chocolate cake. Take a rock star book by one of my favorite authors and I'm like a child in a candy store, a giddy girl about to go on her first date with butterflies of excitement, and about to go on an adventure that I know I'll love. Ace White, the lead singer of the band, Wicked White, is nothing like the persona shown to the world. Yes, he's super hot, tall, muscular with bronze hair and light brown eyes. Exciting. Enticing. Every woman's fantasy. A rock star. Man candy. Smooth operator and dirty talker. Sex on legs. Though he appears to have it all, what he wants is not the fantasy but the real.

"I turn and take in the faces of each of my bandmates one by one. None of them are my friends. They could give a shit less about me. I just told them my mother is sick and they all blow me off like my feelings don't matter. I thread my fingers into my bronze hair as it hits me hard. I hate these people just as much as they hate me, and I can't be around them for one more second. I don't care what I'm losing. It's nothing compared to my sanity and the self-worth I'll lose by sticking around and continuing to be used."

Iris Easton is a beautiful, curvy, brown-haired, green-eyed, aspiring singer who had to leave New York and return to her small town in Ohio after a family tragedy that brought her back home to help run her grandmother's trailer park. She is done with guys treating her like dirt. Though what she doesn't count on is the super hot and sexy new neighbor, Ace White, who has altered his looks a bit, moving in the vacant next door.

Though, when Iris sets sites on Ace for the first time, there is insta-chemistry and she can't help but be drawn to this beautiful man who wants nothing to do with her.

"Instinctively, my body pulls itself in his direction. It's so superficial to say this, but the first thing I always notice about Ace is how insanely beautiful he is. The next thing is his intensity. He's always so focused and serious, and it's very alluring. I want to know his secret. I want to know what he's hiding, and why he's so hot and cold with me."

Iris is the perfect girl for Ace--sensitive, sassy, sexy, and so beautiful. She doesn't care about fame and is down-to-earth but a bit broken like him. Though Ace won't let himself get close to her. He can't risk being found. Though Ace may give up on his only chance for happiness and the dream girl he's been waiting for his whole life.

"She's everything I've ever dreamed about finding in my perfect woman, because coupled with her unbelievable beauty, she actually acts like she gives a shit about me--not my stardom, but about me as a person."

Iris warms and works her way into Ace's heart as she feels their magnetic pull is too strong to fight. They care about and understand each other--get one another like no one else does. Ace is the ace of diamonds--the perfect man. Iris' knight in shining armor in hot rocker clothes.

While Romeo has finally found his Juliet, a secret is still looming and a painful past still haunts them both. Is love still in cards, or is it time to fold?!?

"I don't want to lose the realness I feel with her. So instead, I let her go while I watch the only person I care about walk away, hurt by me."

Review by Allison East

I love Michelle Valentine- she never ever disappoints. And
another rock star book from her, I knew I was in for a
treat!

Ace White wanted the rock star life, but he also wanted to
write his own music, and that didn't happen. None of
it really happened how he wanted it. With a crazy overbearing
road manager, Jane Ann, by his side he realizes the rock
star life isn't everything he hoped for. And when he
gets news that the only person he considers a mom may be dying-
he makes a choice. He wants to go home and spend time with
the one woman who has made him feel loved. His assistant has
other plans, so he runs away. He basically disappears and
leaves his band, his fans and his contract hanging. He has
to find somewhere that he can just hide and be himself, and
not the painted up version. He ends up in Ohio in a somewhat
rundown trailer park- and runs into Iris.

"I hate these people just as much as they hate me, and I
can't be around them for one more second. I don't care
what I'm losing. It's nothing compared to my sanity and
the self-worth ill lose by sticking around and continuing to
be used"

Iris Easton, the heroine, left home to live out her dream
in New York- she wants to be a Broadway star. Her
grandmother dies, and she goes back to Ohio to try to save
her gran's trailer park. A mysterious and hot, stranger
comes to stay in the trailer park and he is determined to be
mean to Iris from the get go. But Iris won't take no for
an answer and decides to be that much nicer, she doesn't
understand what she's done to make him hate her. Although
he doesn't really hate her- he just knows he needs to stay
away because of his rock star past- and the fact that he is
being hunted on a large scale. Iris is bound to find out.

"That was Gran's favorite picture of me when I was
little. She said that was my sweet phase." His lips twist.
"I don't know if I agree with that. I think you're
still pretty damn sweet."

Iris knows Ace has a past, but she is so out of touch with
social media, she has no idea who he really is, and honestly
she doesn't care. She just wants him to open up to her,
and for Ace- that's easier said than done. I really enjoyed
Iris and her attitude on life. Like, if it kicks you down
get back up, and I just know she was meant to meet Ace; to teach
him the same kind of "can do" attitude and not just give up.

"Today just watching that guy beg you to go out with
him- it made me so f*ing jealous. I wanted to tell him to
take a f*ing hike because you weren't available, but I
didn't have the right."

"He's not the one I want," I say, hoping he will
catch the hint in my voice.

An expression of relief floods his face as his eyes soften.
"Good, because I've decided I have to figure out a way
to make you mine."

Things in their relationship come to a head, when ultimately
Ace is found and has to face reality. But will Iris be there with
him to help ease his pain of being in a band with people he
hates, surround by people who don't care about him?

They are definitely kindred spirits, that's for sure- and I
love how Michelle wrote them. It was like they were meant to
be! Like a version of Romeo and Juliet- but way less tragic
and a lot more loving and sexy. I was graciously granted an
advanced copy in exchange for my honest review, and I
honestly believe you are doing an injustice to yourself by
not reading this great story!

Wicked White.. Oohlala!

This completed my day. Wicked White is all about dreams coming true and dreams which took the wrong turn... It's one hot read, but it's also something that you get to think about because the characters here along with their actions actually make sense.

Just a quick description of the characters:

ACE:
✓Talented
✓Hot
✓Is really smart.
✓ Was lured into fame.
✓ Became a puppet of the recording company.
✓ Realized that he needed something concrete in his life.
✓ Realized that his dream took the wrong turn and he isn't himself anymore.
✓ He's had enough.
✓ He ran.

IRIS:
✓Also darn talented.
✓A nice girl.
✓Is out chasing her dream.
✓Lacked something before.
✓Life took a bad turn.
✓She went back.

So that about sums up my description for these characters. When Ace ran from things he didn't want to face anymore, he meets Iris who went back to the place she grew up in. There's an instant spark there, but of course they wisely didn't act on it yet. Ace doesn't need ties because he doesn't want it meddling with his life on the run. However, Iris got to him. Her kindness and the way she carried herself... and maybe because they have an uncanny similarity when it comes to what life handed to them. They finally get together, but there's a big complication regarding their future. The biggest dilemma here is how Ace will fix his rift with the things he left behind.

This was a really entertaining read because the characters are interesting. Even the neighbors are interesting! Oh and that reporter! Watch out for her. I thought I'll hate her... but nope.. I kind of don't. :)

All in all, this was a good read. The ending was a bit abrupt and I want an extensive epilogue though! haha!

The one thing that Michelle Valentine know how to do and do well, is write rockers that you fall in love with. Ace though is different than the boys of Black Falcon. Different in a good way. I loved Ace and Iris.

Ace White is tired of the celebrity game. Doing what everyone else wants. No one giving an inch of kindness in return when needed. So he leaves it all behind him. No looking back.

Iris Easton had a dream of being on Broadway. Leaving the lackluster life in her small town in Ohio behind. Until her grandmother dies and she needs to return to get all of her affairs in order, including the trailer park that she has now inherited and must run to bring in income for herself.

A mysterious man answers her ad for a vacancy she has in the park. Even though he seems tough and unapproachable on the outside, she decides to kill him with kindness - and eventually starts to win him over.

This is definitely a different approach with Michelle, a sweeter romance with the rock background, which I LOVED. Ace may appear to be tough on the outside, but he is kind and considerate and so good for Iris.

Love this book and can't wait for more in the series!

If you're looking for a sexy, fast-paced rock star romance, Wicked White will be a highly enjoyable choice. This was a generally light-hearted story about two people who find each other unexpectedly, during a difficult time in their lives.

Our hero, Ace, is feeling confined by his rock star life... overly controlled by his manager, playing songs he doesn't feel in his heart. When he loses the only person who has really loved him, he runs away from it all.

While seeking escape in a remote place, he finds a girl who is working to make her own dreams come true, but she too, is facing circumstances that are holding her back.

When they first meet, an antagonist relationship ensues as Ace pushes her away, but in the end, they can't help be drawn to each other. In addition, before too long, the past is back to haunt them both and truths threaten what they have only just started to build.

Again, this was a quick, fun read. The romance did move fast, perhaps a bit too fast. But overall, this is a good pick for fun, summertime reading.

2.5 stars. I am a fan of this author so I was really looking forward to reading this book. While it is an easy read, unfortunately I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Individually they were fine but together it felt like something was missing. I never felt any connection with them and the angst didn't seem necessary. The best way to describe the ending was flat and I really wanted more.

While I'm sure I'm in the minority regarding this book, if you are fan of Michelle Valentine I encourage you to give this book a read!

Ace Johnson aka Ace White is a rock star of this famous band Wicked White, who decided that he no longer wants to live under the fame and spotlight. When his only family –his foster mother, Sarah–dying in the hospital when he’s miles away in the middle of concert tour, and none of his band mates and manager care about his feelings, he lost it. He doesn’t give a shit about his career anymore and walks away leaving the sold-out crowd and goes straight to the hospital. After his foster mother died, he decided to leave and hide because he’s sick of paparazzi and all media who don’t respect his privacy when he wants to grief because the only person who ever loved him in this world is gone. So he went to this very small town in Ohio to stay in a trailer park. At first his only motive is to hide, so none will find him. But what he doesn’t expect is that the owner of the trailer he rents and who happens to be his neighbor is a breathtakingly beautiful young girl–Iris–who apparently just lost the person she really loved most too. Irish always wanted to be a Broadway singer in New York, but after her grandmother died, she has to go back to Ohio to take over the trailer park. Ace and Iris experienced the same painful pasts, and that’s what makes them fall for each other instantly. But everything doesn’t go all rainbows and butterflies. Will true love conquer all, or will the truth be the very thing that tears them apart?

Ace is a rock star but he’s a total romantic. He’s a huge fan of classics, especially Shakespeare. He has a painful past. Growing up from foster home to foster home until he finally met Sarah who loved him just like her own son.

Honestly when Ace decided to leave Wicked White, it reminds me of Zayn Malik LOL
Zayn left One Direction when they’re still in the middle of world tour with the same excuse –tired of being in spotlight.
description

Usually I don’t really like insta-love stories. But this one is acceptable good
Because they fall for each other not only because of the outward appearance (physically attractive), but also because they share the same painful pasts. This story is not about two broken people trying to fix each other, though. They’re not broken, they just had rough and painful pasts.

This book is so intriguing. I’m hooked from the first chapter. Although the first few chapters are pretty heartbreaking
I like both characters. They are both strong but also vulnerable at the same time. They work hard to reach their dreams.
Ace is different with all rock stars characters from books I've ever read. He's so soft, sweet and romantic. So if you want to meet a hot, romantic rock star, you should read this book ウインク

I just don’t like this I-did-it-to-protect-you kind of shit. Because all the dramas are started from there ムムム

Overall, I really enjoy this ニコちゃん
Although I feel like there’s something missing from this book that made it failed to wow me. The ending is a semi-cliffhanger. I hope the next book is the continuation of this story because I still don't feel satisfy with the ending.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: 3.25 stars--WICKED WHITE is the first installment in Michelle A. Valentine’s new, adult, contemporary Wicked White romance series. This is lead singer for the band Wicked White, twenty six year old Ace Johnson-White, and aspiring singer Iris Easton’s storyline.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Ace and Iris), the storyline follows Ace White as he spirals out of control. Tired of the phony celebrity lifestyle, one of which he has no personal or professional control, Ace walks away and goes into hiding following the death of his beloved foster mother Sarah Johnson. With no place in mind, Ace finds himself in a low rent mobile home park where he will meet the woman who calls to his soul-Iris Easton –the trailer park manager and a wanna be Broadway star. What ensues is a slow building relationship as Ace keeps his distance knowing that at any time, he will be on the move without looking back.

The relationship between Ace and Iris begins tempestuously. Ace wants nothing to do with making friends, and his attraction to Iris is immediate and visceral. In the beginning, Iris isn’t aware of Ace’s true identity, and in this, Ace is able to relax knowing that not everyone is out for his fame and fortune. But Ace has a bit of a temper, and when he steps over the line, one too many times, Iris knows her only recourse is to push Ace away-to protect the man with whom she has fallen in love.

We are introduced to Ace’s controlling manager Jane Ann- a woman who is all about the PR and bottom line. Ace’s Wicked White band mates-JJ Kraft White, Luke White and drummer Tyler White are but a blip on the radar wherein the reader learns very little about the other members or the history behind the band’s success. There is a definite dissenting vibe between the trio, one that adds to Ace’s already negative view of fame and celebrity. Just to note, each member of the band is assigned the last name of White as per the record company’s contract.

Iris’s friend and co-worker Birdie is a welcome addition as Iris struggles with her emotions and her need to distance herself from the man that she loves. And Birdie’s grandmother Adele is a force unto herself when she witnesses the fall out of Ace and Iris’s relationship.

WICKED WHITE is a simple storyline without any major complications or anxiety except those brought about by our leading couple. A distinct lack of communication between Ace and Iris leads to misunderstanding, broken hearts, and fallen tears. Unfortunately, I did have some issues as it pertained to the simplicity and lack of angst ridden moments as I did not feel a connection to the characters, or between one another. Their attraction to one another did not have any of the palpable energy as felt in other storylines; it was as though they were going through the motions, taking the reader along for the ride.

I am a big fan of Michelle A. Valentine’s Black Falcon rock series –the quality of writing and world building in the Black Falcon series far outweighs what I found in the Wicked White introductory storyline. It is as though someone else wrote this story; it didn’t have the ‘Michelle A Valentine’ intensity I have come to expect from her writing. The ‘oomph’ factor in Wicked White was missing; there was no frenetic energy to the building romance; and in all honesty, I wanted more information regarding Wicked White’s inception and how they came to be-after all, this is a series title Wicked White. Hopefully, as the series progresses, more history about the band will be revealed.

I fell in love with Michelle Valentine's Black Falcon Series, so when I heard she was releasing another book about a new band, I couldn't wait to read it.

Wicked White was such a different type of story compared to the Black Falcon series. This was more of a love story between to people who were meant to be together, like soul mates, just trying to accomplish their dreams. What I found completely interesting about this book was that it was more about finding oneself and learning to control your life choices. The rock band part of the story was such a small part of this book. This was more about Ace trying to live a normal life and get away from the limelight.

As usual the writing and storyline were great and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This story was a sweet love story but was still filled with some drama and angst to keep you interested in the characters. My only complaint is that I wish there would've been an epilogue. I wanted more from the ending then what we got. I know this says it's part of a series but I truly don't know if this is a standalone or if the story will continue in the next book. We do get a Happy Ending, but the way it ended can leave it open for more story to come. I am really interested in seeing how this series plays out :)

In this story we meet Ace Johnson (AKA Ace White) and Iris Easton. Ace is the front man of the band Wicked White, but he is extremely un happy with the way his career is going and how everyone is controlling his life. When tragedy sticks his mom, he is fed up and just ups and leaves everything to become the person he wants to be. While hiding out he stumbles upon Iris at the trailer park she just inherited from her grandma. They have a rocky start, when they first meet, but things start looking up when they both realize they can't stay away from each other. From there we got to see a really sweet love story between these two. And the chemistry was off the charts ;) Then of course things go wrong and they have to figure out how to get things back on track.

Along the way we are introduced to other characters who I am excited to learn more about. I would love to read a book about Birdie (Iris's BFF) or even Shane (A friend of Iris's she meets in NY) I think even a story between those two would be fantastic. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

As usual I was not disappointed in this Michelle Valentine book and I would totally recommend this rock star love story to anyone who is a fan of Michelle's. Also if you are a fan of the rocker Hero, I think you should give this a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!!!
