Dangerous Surrender

Rate this book
A cold-blooded killer wants her dead.

After her friend is murdered right before her eyes, Taylor uses her wits to escape with just a bullet wound, thankful to be alive. But now the killer isn’t the only one after her—the cops are, too, and Taylor’s not sure she can trust them—or anybody else in her life in California. She decides to turn to her old friend in Vegas, racing there with just the clothes on her back, only to arrive and realize he’s off on his honeymoon. Desperate, she breaks in and crashes.

A former Marine is determined to protect her.

When former Marine Roman MacNeil finds a gorgeous stranger unconscious and bleeding in his friend’s shower, his first thought is to help her . . . until she tries to knock him out with a vodka bottle. Lucky for Taylor, Roman isn’t a man who goes down easily. When he realizes the trouble she’s in, he’s determined to protect her—whatever it takes. As they’re thrust into a deadly situation they discover an attraction they never bargained for. But a determined killer is closing in, and time may be running out.

4.5 Sexy Twin Loving Stars!!!

I'm loving this series and seriously hoping we'll get more The Serafina, Sin City books!!

This is Roman's book, Roman is a former Marine Special Forces and currently part of Wyatt's (Multi-Billionaire & Serafina Hotel owner) personal protection detail. While Vadim and Angel are on their Honeymoon, Roman goes to their house to pick up item's for the dog he is taking care of. When he arrives he finds a beautiful naked intruder asleep in the shower who is obviously wounded. When he gets close to her she attacks him with a bottle, he easily subdues her and after he interrogates her, he learns she is an old friend of Vadim's.

Her eyes welled with unexpected tears and to his surprise and horror, she started crying. Big, ugly tears. Shit, shit, shit. "Don't cry," he commanded, as if the order would somehow make her stop.

Taylor is on the run after witnessing her boss/mentor/father figure being murdered, when it appears the murderer is setting her up to take the fall she runs to her old friend and co-computer genius Vadim. By the time she arrives and breaks into his house she is exhausted, emotional, and wounded from being shot. Once her identity is confirmed by Vadim, Vadim makes Roman promise to keep her safe and help clear her name. Roman is definitely attracted to Taylor, but he's also intrigued by this beautiful, brainy, gutsy women and vows to keep her safe....

 photo PicsArt_1414371908646_zpsznda0pn_edit_1415254116042_zps6q8iptr6.jpg

Once Roman hears her account of the murder, he urges her to trust Det. Cody Hurley (Las Vegas PD & friend to the Serafina family), she trusts Roman so she meets with him, and Cody paves the way for her to clear her name and bring the real killer to justice. But first she has to make it home....with a hired killer on her trail. This was another fast paced book with plenty of twists, turns, intriguing characters, and plenty of steamy scenes. We also get some interaction with characters from the previous books including Roman's fun loving twin Logan.

Hopefully Katie Reus we'll give a few more Sin City books, I'd like to get Logan's (Roman's twin), Escabor's (hopefully Wyatt it will recruit him!!!), and Cody's books.

Taylor Arenas goes to her boss and friend with her finding about a something not adding up with the business. Unfortunately, the one behind the scam kills her friends and almost kills her too. On the run, she goes to her friends house but forgot he wasn't home but on his honeymoon. But mutual friend Roman MacNeil finds her in the showers and helps her.

I like this as the heroine was smart and really brave in that she didn't do things that put her in danger but did put things together to catch who did it. I really respected her. I liked that the hero wanted to keep her safe and was all about her from the start.

I’ve been reading crap nonstop and this one was nice read. I honestly wasn’t waiting for a perfect book but it was still more than ok from the crap I’ve read.
Hero wasn’t an asshole, he wasn’t a whore either, heroine wasn’t weak.
It was a nice short read. I would have rated this 4 stars but it doesn’t have an epilogue.

Love loveeee loveeee!!!

Taylor was by far a amazing heroine she was brave, had some sass and likeable and well she kicked ass in IT also she almost clocked Roman with a bottle of liquid when they first met 😂😂😂 as for our hero.. Roman was a good Alpha he wasn't to OTT he wasn't a asshole he was protective and he dis. The Chemistry was good between them it was building and had some doubts and tiny tension about "what next" i enjoyed this book so much the writing was good the pace was good and the secondary charas i loved!!

it didn't get a perfect score cuz it didn't have a epilogue 😭 we got a 3 months later.. but i really wanted more lol

Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating,  secondary chara, not a manwhore and not a virgin gal.

After witnessing her friend's murder Taylor goes on the run and luckily runs into former Marine Roman MacNeil who's determined to protect her no matter what it takes in this exciting romantic suspense.

The reader is thrust right into a deadly situation right along with these strong compelling characters as they struggle with an attraction neither bargained for. The attraction between Taylor and Roman sends sparks flying in every direction and the sex scenes burn up the pages but the relationship has some issues like they both live in different places and...oh yeah there's a killer determined to take Taylor's life. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keep readers on the edge with lots of suspense, action and passion while Taylor and Roman both demand their share of the attention.

Intense and dangerous situations keep anticipation and excitement high as the danger escalates and the killer becomes desperate. The well orchestrated suspense draws readers in and ensures that they have to know what happens next and the well written scenes and details paint vivid images that bring it all to life and has the reader feeling as if they are part of all the action and since there is never a dull moment in this story...there is no chance for the reader to catch their breath as Roman does everything in his power to keep Taylor alive.

Unexpected twists surprise the reader as well as the characters both with the intrigue and with the romance which provides additional spice to the story. Once again, Katie Reus spins a tale of edge of the seat action and suspense that held me captive from the very beginning and there was no way I could put the story down until I had read every last word and I can't wait to visit The Serafina: Sin City again.

ARC Review:

The highest compliment I can give this book is that it was far too short! I wanted more! As a romantic suspense, there are so many great parts: a murder, a wrongly accused on the run, a dastardly villain, and the Russian mafia. Ms. Reus does a wonderful job plotting the story, but I felt that I only got a taste of each of these elements.

The relationship between Roman and Taylor is featured and is better developed. I find that I really liked this couple. Where Roman is self-assured, Taylor is a little awkward. For Taylor, “computers were easier to deal with than people and their mixed signals.” There is good chemistry between the two and the intimate scenes intense and sweat-inducing. I hope we will get to see these characters again in a significant storyline. I can use some more of Roman and Taylor.

This is the fourth book in The Serafina: Sin City series and it can be read as a stand-alone.

Dangerous Surrender tells the story of Taylor, a friend of Vadim’s and Roman, a former marine.

Ah, I loved this! Again Katie Reus created two very likeable, interesting main characters and a fast-paced compelling storyline.

Taylor is a tough, intelligent heroine who knows how to deal and keep it together when in a crappy place.

Roman frankly speaking his mind had me laughing out loud, or alternately blushing along with Taylor sometimes. But he is gorgeous, the ultimate alpha hero, trying everything in his power to help and protect Taylor.

Awesome quick read with lots of action, suspense, passion and some nice twists and turns along the way.

This was a good read, but not amazing. Since this was a shorter book, there was not time to develop a lot of character depth, but I did like both Taylor and Roman. The premise was interesting, and the story flowed well. The ending was a bit anti-climatic. I normally like Reus's work, and this was a decent read. This was a Netgalley ARC.

It was a good read but not my favorite in the series. I just wanted to see Roman & Taylor's relationship developing a little more. There were barely any cute moments between them. It was mainly focused on the suspense part, instead of the romance part.

3.5 Stars. I enjoyed this book and I liked the characters quite a bit. There was a lot happening for a shorter book and I actually wish this was a bit longer as the ending seemed just a bit rushed. Still lots of suspense, some great chemistry and an interesting plot. Not quite as much character development as we usually see from this author but that's probably because of the shorter length.

Dangerous Surrender is a fast-paced romantic suspense, and it kept me second-guessing things all along, while I was cheering for the heroine to get ahead.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The suspense was keeping me all wired from the very first sentence of Dangerous Surrender, I had no idea why Taylor had put on a power-suit and went into work early, and from there on, things happened fast! And there was definitely a real danger as she saw her boss, mentor and friend get killed in cold blood - due to what she had brought into the office to discuss with him that day. On the run, Taylor's first thoughts were to go to the police. Good thing she was a little paranoid and avoided that, though. A swift change of vehicles and a trip to Vegas brought her into Roman's life and he just knew he had to make sure she'd survive the bad situation she was in.

There was a lot going on in Dangerous Surrender, and it was a whirlwind both when it came to the mystery / suspense and when it came to the romance. I really enjoyed the fact that Taylor was a computer genius - and she definitely knew how to take care of herself. Roman was mostly able to let her do her own thing, though, and that was very sexy to me. He was there for her to lean on when she needed to, and he also listened to her and tried to take her wants into account even while doing all he could to keep her not only alive, but safe and sound.

Written in third person point of view, past tense, Dangerous Surrender kept me at the edge of my seat, eager to see if Taylor and Roman could make it not just when it came to the suspense and the person trying to kill Taylor. I also wanted them to make it romantically, once the adrenaline rush of their chase / chased story had been dealt with completely. If you're a fan or romantic suspense, this is a must-read! And it can be read out of order in the series, as I had no trouble following the story without having read the prior books.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Taylor Arenas smoothed a hand down her light-gray, pencil skirt as she exited the main elevator onto her boss's floor. Normally she just wore jeans and a casual top to work, but today she'd pulled out all the stops and actually gone for the business-professional look. She resisted the urge to wipe her damp palm on her skirt as her heels clicked against the tiled entryway on the tenth floor.

She might not trust the police, but in a situation like this she knew they would help. her mentor had been gunned down right in front of her and that bastard Neal was going to pay for what he'd done.

Dangerous Surrender is the fourth instalment in the The Serafina: Sin City series by Katie Reus. This book tells the story of Taylor, one of Vadim's friends and Roman, a former marine.

After witnessing the murder of her boss and almost been shot, Taylor runs to the only place she knows she'll be safe, Vadim's house. But what Taylor doesn't realise is that Vadim hasn't returned from his honeymoon yet. ..

Roman knows Vadim well. So, when he sees a strange car in his garage, he knows he must take some action. But what he finds is far from what he expected. When Roman first meets Taylor, she's naked and bleeding on his friend's bathroom and as if everthing wasn't already bad, he thinks she's a thief. When Taylor wakes up in Vadim's bathroom and realises she's not alone, she tries to get away from the "intruder" by throwing a bottle of vodka at him. Roman is beyond shocked by this woman's actions and at the same time intrigued by her but he is no fool. After a short call to Vadim, both Taylor and Roman realise their mistake and Roman knows he must help Taylor survive form the man who killed her boss.

But things soon get more complicated as Roman realises that they've been found. Trying to escape from the danger that's looming, Roman and Taylor must work together in order to eliminate the threat. What they don't know though, is that the danger is closer than they think...

I really loved this one. This is actually the first book that I'm not going to complain about the length. I loved the story and the author managed to keep the plot interesting. We got to see not only Taylor and Roman's point of views but the villain's as well. The characters were well developed (considering this is a novella) and the book had a nice flow. Never once was I bored or got lost. This is a true Katie Reus book.

Filled with romance, suspense, sexy ex-marines and the Sin city, Dangerous surrender will surely capture your attention.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series. The only question I have is: Who's next?

Totally recommended!!!

I can’t get over the fact how thrilling and sensual Katie Reus’s books are. Every single book is a story of suspense, passion and immense chemistry overflowing each page.

Dangerous Surrender is book#4 of her series “The Serafina: Sin City”. No different from the adrenaline rush of reading her previous books, yet apart from her other books in the series. Taylor is a genius computer hacker and investigator, and discovers fraud and embezzlement in her company. Her boss and mentor gets killed by the partner, and she gets framed for the murder. On the run and with avenues closed off, she escapes to Vegas to get help from her friend Vadim. Unfortunately Vadim is on his honeymoon, and she breaks into the house to stay safe.

Roman is an ex-marine, working for the infamous and super wealthy Christiansen, and he’s been delegated the job of housesitting and dog sitting while Vadim is on his honeymoon. As much as he is impressed with Taylor for breaking into a high security house, Taylor trying to knock him out does not sit very well with him. But she sure knocks his socks off with her intelligence and fearlessness.

With misunderstandings out of the way, Taylor brings out all his protective instincts along with spades of instant chemistry and attraction. As they try to bring the killer to justice, Taylor and Roman explore each other’s feelings and give into each other. But will it last once the killer is apprehended is a million dollar question.

Fast paced, creative story line, a beautiful and intelligent Taylor, and an alpha marine Roman – Dangerous Surrender is instant gratification!!!

Great Series, I want more!!

Dangerous Surrender is the fourth book in The Serafina: Sin City series. I loved this book and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down until I was done. Taylor finds out that someone is stealing from the company she works for. She takes the information to her boss who is also a father figure, when he confronts the person responsible he is murdered right before her eyes. When the killer realizes Taylor saw him, he starts shooting at her. Taylor manages to escape with a minor bullet wound and runs to Vegas to get help from her friend. Taylor soon realizes that her friend is off on his honeymoon but ends up breaking into his house so she can hide and tend to her bullet wound. Roman MacNeil has been checking on his friend’s house while he is off on his honeymoon, but soon realizes that someone has broken in to the house. Roman realizes that he must help Taylor. This book has it all, romance, mystery, suspense, and sexy bodyguards. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series; they keep getting better and better!

REVIEW

This is Roman’s story.. You know he is one half of those sexy alpha twins.

Taylor who is a friend of Vadims is in some serious trouble. She decides to high tail it down to Vegas to hide out in Vadim’s house although Vadim and Angel are off on their honeymoon. Well Roman is house and dog sitting and goes to Vadim’s and finds a bleeding Taylor in the shower.

Well if you want Action this book is loaded down with it. One finger biting scene to the next. I totally was captivated. I love how Katie Reus’ makes her men Alpha Strong, Protective, and Loyal and her heroines are not all that skittish they do have a backbone.

We also so get some Super HOT romance …

Awesome book indeed and I simply can not wait for the next in this awesome series..

REVIEW:
Nothing can ruin your day faster than someone shooting at you.
Maybe not, because seeing your best friend killed in front of your eyes is worst.

Taylor is one tough chick who knows has mad skills with a computer and has some killer shoes!!!. Roman is pretty darn awesome. I love how they meet, even if it was under horrible circumstances. These two were great to read about.

Another great Serafina: Sin City story from Ms. Reus. This was a really quick read for me. As with all shorter stories I wanted the story to go on longer. I wanted more of Roman and Taylor, but we can’t always get what we want right? I hope to see them both in upcoming Sin City books.

The action continues in DANGEROUS SURRENDER with Katie Reus's usual flare but I found it slow going; I'd say I prefer the RED STONE SECURITY series over THE SERAFINA.

I did really enjoy Taylor and all her spunk; she's outspoken, courageous, and her hacking skills get put to good use in this book. She's been through a lot and is grieving over the loss of Hugh, who she loved like a father. I wish that we got the level of depth to Roman that we did with Taylor. I felt like Reus just grazed the surface of Roman's personality and history and we hardly knew anything about him other than his protective nature. I was so fascinated by Roman in the earlier books and was really looking forward to his story, so I was a bit disappointed not to get more in depth with him.

This one sure opened with a bang. I liked that Taylor found info to help her boss, but what he did was so stupid. Worse was that it seemed to make the situation explode. I thought that in the aftermath that Taylor kept it together enough to get away and protect herself.

Roman was an interesting person for Taylor to run into and a helpful one. I liked that Roman had her back and did what he could to protect Taylor. I loved how Taylor managed to surprise Roman with her evil ways of getting to the bottom of things.

I loved how this one ended and I hope to see Taylor around more.

Neal is such a narcissistic prick with delusions of grandeur. Bet his thingy is peanut-sized.

I don't blame her for being interested in him. Even his name is yummy.

So many turns. Just when they start to get comfortable, something happens.

I suspected "E" from the first. Sorry, "E". Trying not to post spoilers...

Her computer skills are seriously cool. Like Felicity in Arrow, but less morality.

The ending was a little fast. But it still manages to cover everything.

Katie Reus gives us another gem in this romantic suspense series. I enjoyed the story, loved the action and the characters. Roman is dangerously sexy and Taylor complements him well. Vadim’s book is still my favorite but this one’s a close second!

I highly recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys a solid story with engaging characters and gripping plot twists.

TAYLOR WORKS FOR A SECURITY COMPANY AND HAS FOUND PROOF THAT HER BOSS OR HIS PARTNER IS STEALING FROM THE COMPANY. WHEN IT’S PROVED TO BE THE PARTNER, WHILE SHE’S IN THE BATHROOM, HE COMES IN AND KILLS HER BOSS AND OWNER OF THE COMPANY. SHE RUNS AND WHEN SHE REALIZES THE KILLER HAS SOMEONE LOOKING FOR HER SHE GOES TO HER FRIEND’S HOUSE TO GET HIS HELP. WHEN SHE ARRIVES, SHE REMEMBERS HE’S GONE ON HIS HONEYMOON AND BREAKS INTO HIS HOUSE. ROMAN IS A FORMER MARINE AND WORKS WITH TAYLOR’S FRIEND. HE STOPS BY TO PICK UP A TOY FOR THE DOG HE’S BABYSITTING AND FIND TAYLOR PASSED OUT IN THE SHOWER. AFTER GETTING ALL THE DETAILS FROM HER, HE CONVINCES HER TO TELL THE COPS BECAUSE THE KILLER HAS PUT THE BLAME ON HER. TRYING TO CLEAR HER NAME IS EASY COMPARED TO JUST TRYING TO STAY ALIVE. ROMAN WILL PROTECT HER WITH HIS LIFE IF HE MUST BECAUSE AFTER A FEW DAYS HE REALIZE HOW STRONG, SMART, AND BEAUTIFUL SHE IS.

Excellent story with action, suspense and sex. This will keep you on the edge of your seat and a little hot and bothered. Katie writes her stories so you feel like you’re right there with them.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and this one was another great story. As oppose to the others, not all the action takes place in Vegas and the Serafina.
The story belongs to former Marine and now Security Specialist Roman MacNeil, and Taylor Arenas, computer wiz and friends Vadim, another of the Serafina’s Security Specialist.
When Taylor witnesses the murder of her boss and mentor, she flees the crime and calls for help to her friend Vadim. But Vadim is out of town , and after she breaks into Vadim’s home, she meets Roman.
Let’s just say that the story is filled with suspense, the Russian Mafia, a murderer that’s out for blood and of course romance. I really liked that Ms Reus doesn’t have them jumping into bed until the last 1/4 of the book. She creates a well developed plot and both characters are strong and complex individuals.
Another great story in this series. I must add that the narrator does an excellent job with the voices and his delivery.
I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Katie Reus is one of my go to authors! She really knows how to tell a great story!

The sin city series were all delicious romantic suspense tales around Las Vegas! Dangerous Surrender was fascinating as computer genius Taylor witnesses the murder of her boss and mentor! The killer frames Taylor for the murder and she flees to Las Vegas to seek Vadim and Charlie for help! They are away on their honeymoon, and she meets Roman (sort of) when he finds her passed out in the shower after breaking into Vadim's Vegas home! I really liked the plotline!
A quick read, the story plays out with lots of twists and turns! The characters are excellent and the situations feel real and believable! The books is faced paced but it seemed to need more backstories and details! Still it was an exciting and satisfying tale!
