My name is Christopher Greyson, and I am a storyteller.
Since I was a little boy, I have dreamt of what mystery was around the next corner, or what quest lay over the hill. If I couldn’t find an adventure, one usually found me, and now I weave those tales into my stories. I am blessed to have written over twenty novels.
My love for tales of mystery and adventure began with my grandfather, a decorated World War I hero. I will never forget being introduced to his friend, a WWI pilot who flew across the skies at the same time as the feared, legendary Red Baron. My love of reading and storytelling eventually led me to write and it’s the best job I’ve ever had.

Someone is murdering tall men and big dogs, especially tall men who have or have bonded with big dogs. Our story begins when a tall man named Daniel (a lumberjack) is out at the dog park with his King Shepherd Lady (110 pounds) and sees what he thinks is someone having car trouble in the parking lot. He ties Lady to the fence and goes to see if he can help but Lady notices the vehicle rocking and then a stranger with blood comes to her but is scared away by people showing up. Lady realizes something bad has happened to her human and is injured getting free but does and tries to find the vehicle with no luck. So Lady notices a neighborhood cat- the General- walking home to his elderly human and follows. The sweet lady finds poor Lady stuck in the cat door and calls Replacement/Alice to hire her for $50 to find the owner.
Imagine Jack Stratton's shock upon returning home to the 2-bedroom apartment he shares with his former foster sister Replacement (real name Alice) after a hard day as a bounty hunter (he got fired from being a police officer for constantly disobeying the sheriff) to find a 110 pound dog coming at him. Of course, as usual, he acts like an idiot. He yells, screams and growls which the dog interprets as aggression then wonders why the dog doesn't like him. Alice explains how she the private eye job of finding the owner.
They do some good detective work (as the dog eats their dinner and the couch) to find out who owns her (the dog led them to the apartment) but when the man is found to have disappeared, they crank up their investigation only to find that a serial killer is at work. Jack, being tall, might be a target.
The side stories going on includes the slow moving pre-romance between Jack and Alice which I wish the author would drop and how Alice shuts down and becomes a crybaby after seeing someone in a store. Alice is tough and kick ass so seeing her crying more and more in the books has been annoying me. There is a LOT of it in this book. A regular sobfest over anything and everything. I took a star off for this.
The killer turned out to be quite a surprise. My favorite character was Lady. I am a sucker for a big dog.
I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK IT KEPT ME POKING PAGES SO I COULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN. IT HAS MYSTERY, THRILLS, HUMOR AND A SWEET LITTLE ROMANCE AND IT’S A STAND ALONE SERIES. I WAS SO PROUD I FIGURED OUT WHO-DONE-IT AT ABOUT 40% BUT READING THIS WAS STILL AMAZING. THE STORY LINE AND CHARACTER’S ARE GREAT I LOVED JACK & REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH LADY THEY MAKE A GREAT TEAM. I WILL BE READING MORE OF THESE BOOKS I JUST GOT ANOTHER ONE ON AMAZON I’L PROBABLY READ ALL OF THEM. WOW I LOVED THIS I GIVE IT 95* MORE STARS.;D
3.75 stars from this reader. Almost a 4-star read. I read the set, one after the other, of the first four novels. My favorites were books 2 and 3. I like the writing style now but had trouble getting used to it.
This one involves an unusual case of a serial killer who targets big men. I had to admit I didn't guess who the bad guy was. At 93% into the novel I was beginning to wonder when it would be revealed.
The relationship between the two main protagonists escalates and we get to know more about Alice’s serial background. Two very likable characters and the addition of the King Shepherd, Lady, was a plus. I was in awe of Jack's patience on taking her into their small apartment.
Good series combines humor, mystery and poignancy.
I would've given 'Jack and the Giant Killer' five stars, but I thought including Lady and the dog factor was a-bit-of-a-stretch, along with the 'quick fix' at the end for the 'Spencer' problem. I've liked Melissa and Ki-Ku for possible partners for Jack, and am wondering how Alice and Jack's relationship will develop, as ongoing foster siblings, or something more.... which - I sense - they both need. It's refreshing to read a clean, detective thriller with ongoing values-based characters, including Aunt Haddie.
This is the fourth book in the series I've read and am buying the next one right now. What a team Jack and Alice are! If you like murder mysteries, you will love this one! They could each stand on their own, but you will enjoy them even more if you read them all in order.
Another great read in a great series. Jack is at it again and he and Replacement is getting a little closer. This story will bring you to a love with animals if you don't already. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this mystery. If you are first picking up this series don't start here start with book one.
What can I say, but this is an awesome series. While you can read this book as a stand alone novel I would suggest reading the whole series in order to better understand the characters.
The subject matter was unique. Jack and Alice make a unique team.. The serial killer and his reason for choosing his victims was borderline bizarre. Looking forward to next in series.
Ok this was another great hit in the series as far as the mystery/thriller goes. But I will admit I kinda had an idea about the killer and got confirmation at the end. Cannot tell you why or what hint was there for me, but I would not tell you at any rate. Still a good book.
It was also cool to see more layers of Alice. I guess it was just harder due to the fact it was all through Jack's perspective. He seems to be really clueless when it comes to her. I guess that is just a guy thing. (laughs)
Now to come to my rant. Why, why, why, WHY?!?!?!?!?!?! does everyone have to make the detective/cop/white knight be so down on their luck?????!!!!??? I mean really is the sheriff that stupid to not use what he has in front of him someone that actually SOLVES cases???? He has to FIRE him?? I mean really????? Or their PI's and have no respect? What is wrong with having a successful business? Isn't the case/story strong enough let alone the PTSD? Now to add Alice into the mix. They love each other but going slow. Which I agree it is needed but come on...how much tension do you really need here. Oh lets not forget Aunt Addie and his mom.
Ok end of rant. Just had to say that cause at this point I don't know if I want to read the next one or not. For now I will just take a break before I read the next and will see. Frankly I do love the stories. Just would like to see him rewarded for solving cases not smacked down. Just sayin'.
This was a fairly decent followup, but not as good as the previous installment. The beginning of the narrative was tightly woven, but as the tale entered the home stretch the author returned to his habit of just "Jumping around" in the narrative, sometimes from chapter to chapter, sometimes in the same chapter.
The other issues were: Replacement's sudden change(s) of behavior; they made sense, to an extent, but there wasn't enough foreshadowing to them; or enough emotional punch, in the previous books for this to just, seemingly, with only slight hints in previous books, come out of nowhere.
Some of the back and forth dialogue needed heavy proof reading. The question/response didn't make any semblance of sense toward the end, and it felt very, very rushed. Like the author took his time crafting the beginning, but then just gave up and did a sprint toward the end and then never edited the last eight chapters or so.
Overall, it's a decent book, but not a grand one; and it's a good series that with effort, could have been a great one. The book is worth the read if you've come this far into the series, and for the most part, a worthy read, but what the author did at the end, writing-wise, kind of killed some of the hope that he's as invested in the characters as he expects his readers to be.
Jack and the Giant Killer is another very enjoyable Jack Stratton mystery. Jack's off the force and now earning a living as a bounty hunter. He and Replacement are still working together on cases. They still have a personal relationship.
This case starts with a huge dog found in the neighborhood. Jack and Replacement attempt to find the dog's owner. As the story unfolds, murders and a serial killer become the focus.
I found the story kept my interest. I didn't identify the murderer until the end of the story. Of course, Jack had clues much earlier than me. (He didn't bother to clue me in). I highly recommend you give the Jack Stratton series a try. You will enjoy!!!
Jack and Alice are trying their best to make ends meet after Jack was suspended from the police department and is still recovering from being shot in Jacks are wild. Now they have a new problem, a giant shepherd dog, whose owner has disappeared. Suddenly, they are involved in trying to find a serial killer, whose victims are all over six foot seven. In the middle of the investigation, Alice's history comes out, and Jack has to protect her from killing the man who was responsible for her abuse. The giant slayer is found, Jack reaches out to Kikui to get to Alice's abuser who has fled to Thailand. This is one book that will pull at your heart strings but will keep you turning pages until the end. Thanks for another great read.
This is an excellent book in every way, except one: It ended way too soon! I have been reading the Jack Stratton series in order from the first book, Girl Jacked, and while it was very well done (I loved the storyline), I can see more polishing and refining in each book published. This comes with experience, dedication and from those who love what they are doing. I find his storylines fresh and engrossing, they are very entertaining and with just the right mix. I have always read this genre and I believe Christopher Greyson can take a seat right beside those that write very popular series and are established writers!
Another great Jack Stratton mystery. Jack is now off the police force and trying to do bounty hunter work. Replacement, in her new role as private detective, takes on the job of trying to find the owner of a very large dog. They soon find out that the dog's owner was murdered, and there just might be a serial killer on the loose who targets extra big men (at least 6'6"). Jack and Replacement are on the case, and through interesting circumstances, the Mayor welcomes their involvement, although Jack is pretty sure Chief Collins won't be so happy when he returns to town. These books are so wonderful, full of mystery, adventure and romance.
In this series jack Stratton and replacement (aka....alice ) are dealing with a serial killer who kills tall and big men with large dogs . Alice in this series dealing with her past that comes back to haunt her. This series along with the series before this is full of actions with intense moments like the characters themselves. You are drawn to the characters of Jack and replacement and their dynamic in dealing with each problems as they present themselves. As before very well written and addictive you can't put the book down. I recommend Jack Stratton series you will not be dissapoint, on to the next series #5 data Jack .
This is another spine-tingling novel from popular Author Christopher Greyson. In the town of Darrington, there have been three murders. The killer wants to spread fear as he hangs the latest body on the welcoming sign along the road into town. The victims have all been over 6' 6" tall, and Jack Stratton and his sidekick, Alice (who he calls Replacement), both get deeply involved...but also their attraction for each other also kindles. To add a little humor and also help is a very large dog named Lady. This is a real page turner, which I highly recommend.
Awesome series. Can't wait for the next adventure. Love the characters and character development. Good solid mysteries. I feel this way about each of the books Greyson has written. I read mysteries for pure enjoyment, not to solve them before I am at the end. These are a must read. My budget liked the fact that they were not expensive but, I am surprised the price is not higher. The quality was wonderful. Please Mr. Greyson.......hurry on "Jack of Hearts"!!
This is another good Jack Stratton story. All I would say against it is that it ended a bit quickly, going into the last 50 pages the suspects were no one and everyone, some more intriguing clues would have been good and he could have made more of a twist when revealing the killer. Looking forward to the next book which might have been in Asia....but it looks like Kiku has that one covered??
As always Greyson has kept us on edge of our seats. His unique style is what makes his works so interesting. In this story his portrait of the German Shepherd is dear to us animal lovers and we can identify with the way she interacts with her human friends. This is one of his best and my favorite.
Well, this was not what I expected, but I am hopeful for the next one. I enjoyed the characters though a bit confusing...more back story would be helpful...I get it that it will be revealed as you go through, but at times I felt lost. The ending was satisfying enough.
I love the characters in this series!! I've laughed, gasped, got mad and almost cried reading some portions. Overall though, they just take me away with enjoyable plots and twists. Very well written. If you've read Kuntz's Odd Thomas series and enjoyed the characters and dialogue, you'll like this series too.
Plus side, these books have unusual plots and likeable characters. Minus? The writing isn't very good. Kind of wordy, grammar and spelling mistakes, rookie stuff. Mr. Greyson is improving with each novel, however. So I have high hopes! I enjoy the layered plots and characters' interactions. Keep going, Mr. Greyson!
I have to admit I figured it out along with Jack before the end but i kept reading because what I love about this series is that the story can twist at any time and it could become a bigger mystery !! I loved reading every word, it reminded me of a Law & Order episode

I tecommend this book to anyone who loves adventure in every page. This one has you guessing til the very end. You have your mind made up on who is the killer, but a page later you know your wrong! The characters are so real its like you know them. You feel their pain, happiness, sorrow and love. You got to read it!
