Starting this series today wasn’t the best decision, especially with how Volume 5 ended on such a brutal cliffhanger—I need the next volume NOW.
I have way more questions than I did after Volume 1, but this volume gave me a newfound appreciation for how Asumiko Nakamura weaves stories. Her ability to juggle court intrigue, mystery, murder, and deeply flawed characters is masterful. Every chapter peels back just enough to keep you hooked while still leaving so much in shadow.
The sense of doom hanging over every character is palpable, and the twists keep hitting harder as the story unfolds. It’s gripping, haunting, and beautifully written—I can’t stop thinking about it.
