I thought this was a really good book. I read a lot of war and military books and served in the marines in the 70's. I would say this novel rates with the best. I just finished it a few days ago so it is easy to remember that it moved very fast for me. read it in two days.

Unless something drastically changes in the next 75 pages I will rate this book at 4 stars. It covers the whole Marine corps experience and includes the wars and the returns so I might change it to 5stars.

I agree this is a real puzzler as to authenticity but I think its more reality than fiction. I love novels like this one. very controversial but I like that and have read a lot of Laufenburg's books, about six so far but my wife very few. I read it twice better the second time you can skip some of it. the last section on the returning Vietnam vets is the best the ending is really spectacular.

I thought I reviewed this book but I guess not. I loved it, as good as they get and read as many of this writers books as I can. I read a dozen books a month and have been reading many of his. They are usually very realistic with great, interesting characters, action and suspense.

Fantastic, all the stuff I like in a book. Action, suspense, I never knew what to expect next, couldn't figure out what would happen and the characters felt real. The story had slang sometimes hard but I overcame that for the story was too good to put down. I bought the book actually a year ago and just never got around to reading it till now. well worth it.

This book was very truthful but like something that you feel almost guilty reading because you can't put the book down even though its saying things you don't want to hear or even consider. excellent read, I read it quick in one day and still go back over it and check things that I've read that say this is true or maybe on the edge. I actually have a hard copy because a friend bought it at Barnes & Nobles store in Miami several years ago when the author was signing it. it's very good.

I just finished this book for the second time about a month ago. I first read it around 2012 and thought it was either true or based upon what really happened. I really liked it and compare it to other classic war tales, like Platoon and Naked and the Dead. A lot of action and you never know the outcome the ending was the best part.
