Platoon F #3

The SSMC Voyeur

Rate this book
Mission 3 from the hilarious Platoon F comedy series!

A space probe that was sent out 500 years ago has returned...sort of. It's actually a copy of the original model of The SSMC Voyeur, which begs the question: What happened to the original craft?

The crew of The SSMC Reluctant is dispatched to learn about the originating planet that sent this cloned vehicle. And, if Rear Admiral Conster gets his way, they're also to blow the entire planet that it came from to smithereens.

Unfortunately, it's a 50-year trek at The Reluctant's top speed, which means that Captain Don Harr will be a husk by the time they arrive. Fortunately, Chief Engineer Geezer has invented the GONE Drive: a device that allows The Reluctant to instantly travel between two points in the universe. Now, they just have to wait for Geezer to figure out how the damn thing actually works.

Follow Platoon F (the special operations team from the Segnal Space Marine Corps) as they blink about the universe in search of the planet that sent The Voyeur clone, and keep following as they try to get away from it!

Sorry but what the heck.......?

The read was great up until the end but then it sort of fizzled out. What happened? How did they revive Geezer? What did they do about keeping Soenso on planet? Ugh!! Questions but no answers.
The Rear Admiral is on holiday and they have a new mission to go to a planet 50 light years away and destroy it. (A ship had come in asking for space bars and saying they must follow the word of Soenso.) However as a human he'll be dead by then. Geezer has the answer - well maybe. A new test drive. It works! Turtles, strange farmer and a planet of giants ruled by an old robot who has delusions of grandeur. He is God!! Can they get away? Will they make it back?

The adventures of Captain Don Harr and the crew of the starship Reluctant continue....

Follow Platoon F (the special operations team from the Segnal Space Marine Corps) as they blink about the universe in search of the planet that sent a clone of The Voyeur, and keep following as they try to get away from it!

This is light sci fi with a bit of humor.

Platoon F are sent to investigate when a message from a ship that disappeared 500 years ago sends a chilling message. Quick, enjoyable read as the crew try to cut a fifty year trip down and then be diplomatic in there own unique way.

This one reminded me of Redshirts (trope played out) mixed with Bobiverse series. THe death by snu snu trope reversal was very, very entertaining.

Just plain fun.

These books just amuse me to no end. They're not very deep they're not very long but they are pretty funny.

Have read many reviews of different books that give outline of the story, but this is Logsdon and t it's not really something one could do when it's {Terry} Pratchett meets {Douglas} Adams meets Monty Python meets Red Dwarf meets Star Trek meets Doctor Who meets Twilight Zone/Outer Limits/Night Gallery.... Realized at end of the Pentalogy that there are 2 of 'them', writers, so guess 2 peas in an...alien pod.... Their 'issues' have 'issues', and sincerely suggest that they both seem professional help...after a couple or more...sets/series. The only caveat is to not stop at book 2, it is by far the weakest and seems a bit out of place, but even Logsdon said 2 was not all he had wanted it to be. There are more than 5 total and got those to read as well. Sci-Fi fans that also like things mixed with humor or humour should definitely like these. In other news, it is quite possible that Logsdon has taken too many hockey puck shots to the head but still....

A Lilliputian and Brobdingnagian adventure.

The basic plot is that the Reluctant must search for the long lost SSMC Voyeur. But the journey to it's last known location will take 50 years. Rather than wait that long, Captain Harr's crew figures a way to essentially teleport. But they get the math wrong....hijinks of scale ensue.

The quality of this tale has improved with less (but more than zero) crude humor.
