Badlands Wolves #1

Sold Bullied Mate

Rate this book
My bully Alpha rejected me. Now, he buys my plus-size curves and knocks me up.
I was the outcast Omega of the pack, bullied and laughed at for my premonitions.
He was my brother’s best friend and the future Alpha. He rejected me publicly.
Now my new pack is selling me off to punish me….and he’s my new owner.

I’m shackled and trembling, sold off for a low price to anyone who wants me in heat.
He catches my scent and coldly wins the bidding battle.
He takes me back to the small town of my youth, to the wounds he caused.
He says I’m coming home with him, that I have no choice but to follow him.

I know my heat is coming. I know I can’t protect myself from him.
I can’t control my body when he gets close, tearing open my wounds one by one.
I can’t control my mouth when he kisses it, taking everything I have.
He owns my plus-size curves. He owns my pregnant belly.

Will my bully Alpha claim our little family?

The Wolves of the Badlands are cruel, tough, and possessive. You think you can escape them, but they drag you back everytime. Because they will heal you, protect you, and own you the way only a mate can.

An excellent beginning!

This book is amazing! The first in a new series by Kayla, the story of Dorian and Kira starts us off! The two grew up together but Dorian and Emin, Kira’s brother, bullied her terribly. Everything changed the day Dorian’s grandfather and pack Alpha was killed in battle. Kira will end up leaving the pack after Dorian’s rejection. Years later, she finds herself back in the pack when Dorian finds her for sale at a market. He has realized the mistakes he made in the way he treated her and how he rejected her as his mate. He tries to make amends and things are going pretty well until danger strikes. Dorian tries his best to protect her but it will be one Kira should be able to trust that will betray her. She will be saved but truths will be learned and not all of them are good news. They will get their chance to have their happily ever after, but the danger isn’t truly gone and I can’t wait to read what happens next!

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Dorian is alpha of a wolf pack in the Badlands (not sure which Badlands this is referring to since there are areas in 4 or 5 US states with this designation, as well as in many other countries). Kira is an Omega who used to be part of what is now Dorian's pack, but she left when he publicly rejected her as his mate. She had been allowed into a nearby pack, but is accused of stealing something and is taken off to a nefarious market to be sold. Dorian happens to be there incognito for a completely different reason, and sees his mate up for auction. You can imagine what he does.

So, these two have issues. Dorian tries desperately to keep his hands off Kira, but she is coming into a heat cycle so he is doomed for failure. The pack blames her for their former alpha's death. Dorian is keeping her presence at his house on the down low. Kira has a psychic power that is undeveloped. You get the picture.

Great story. Can't wait to see what Kayla has in store next. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Not enough groveling done for the bullying done in the past...
This was a good read and a unique take on shifters. I liked Kira from the start and how she rose above a bad situation in the beginning, and still being strong as new situations keep happening. Dorian was a good character, I just wish there was a little more apologizing and communication that happened. I also wanted more information on the problem, why it was taken, etc. The chemistry and steam is great, and this was an enjoyable read that held my attention until the end.

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

A well written ,action packed, fated mate story. From start to finish I got so caught up in the character and the story, that I've stayed up way past my bedtime. Dorian and Kira have a difficult past that still haunts them. Kira doesn't really trust anyone. Those that should have been there for her seems to failed her. Dorian has regretted the way he treated Kira in the past and feels like he must somehow make it up to her before they can move on. I recommend this book to all thos that love a good romance story.

I think that this book has the bones of being a good story. I liked the world (how gems are used to aid shifting and then a bunch go missing). But there are a lot of inconsistencies and things missing.

For example, Kira goes to her parents place and she can smell the spaghetti in the house. But then back to Dorian’s place and it’s 1am…

I also feel like we are missing how he bullied her and why the other pack is so dangerous. I feel like I am just missing a lot of context for everything.

It takes him too long to realise he's wrong.
By then, he's lost her
When a random sighting gives him a chance to make things right, he will do anything he can to do that.
Even if it means locking her up just to protect her.
He almost loses her again because of it.
Luckily, she's stronger than he thinks, and she will still fight for what she wants.
Now he finally can, too.

That was pretty good but I have a couple unanswered questions about toward the ending. But I don't quite get why he did what he did but then never really changed a few things like he should have. I enjoyed it

Nice

This was a very nice story and I enjoyed reading it. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed their interactions. I would like to have seen more detail about the other things going on in the book. There definitely was room develop the story further.
