This is a collection of three books about the European Middle Ages. I found the book about Medieval Russia the most interesting, especially the part about Kievan Rus and Olga, who was regent for her son until his majority. She held off the other claimants to the throne, and was generally pretty Badsass. The books are short, and probably nothing that can’t be found on Wikipedia, but they are really interesting and I enjoyed them.

The Roman empire grew, dominated, weakened, and split. These are the stories, both political and religious. East and west, Orthodox and Catholic. It defined most of Europe for well over a millenium. People, personalities, the military aspects, enemies, and allies.
These books provide the reader with a look into Europe in the Middle Ages. Each book is astute and provides a lot of information for thought and had me rethinking what I learned about Middle Age Europe.
