When the kingdom's most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider hides in a mysterious tower, the last thing he expects to find is Rapunzel, a spirited teen with an unlikely superpower—70 feet of magical golden hair! Together, the unlikely duo sets off on a fantastic journey filled with surprising heroes, laughter and suspense. With over 64 pages of gorgeous full-color illustrations, this hardcover Read-Aloud Storybook retells the complete story of the swashbuckling, computer-animated comedy, Disney Tangled.
Rapunzel is a girl with 70 feet of hair that glows and does magic when she sings. She was kidnapped as a child and kept in a tower by a woman claiming to be her mother who uses Rapunzel's magic to keep herself young and beautiful. Then one day a handsome cad climbs the tower, and Rapunzel coerces him to take her to the kingdom on her birthday, which leads to her discovery of who she really is! This is a Disney movie, did you know?
But seriously, anyone who knows me knows that I have been waiting for Disney to turn Rapunzel into an animated film (I even did character designs of my own some fifteen years ago), and while I do indeed love Tangled as a film, there's always this sort of wish in the back of my mind that it had been animated in the classic, 2D, Disney style. I mean, can you imAGine?? So then when I came upon this read-aloud storybook at the Disney Store, full of beautiful hand-drawn and -painted illustrations, I was so taken that I looked through it every time we stopped there. Then The Wife decided to just give it to me for my birthday, so I took a few minutes to really read through and examine the lovely artwork. The story is (no surprise here), a very simple telling of the story of the film, but it's a really pretty presentation.
As expected, this is a basic storybook telling of the Disney movie, but the real point of this is the illustrations. They are gorgeous! It helps me further envision the glorious movie this would be had it been done in the traditional style (which I [sort of] vow to make one day, scene-by-scene, by myself if I have to). Some of these Disney storybooks have really so-so illustrations, but these are pretty much fully-realized works of art. No paint-bucket-colored coloring book pages here! It will be so much fun to read these simple versions of Disney movies aloud to little ones one day, and enjoy the rich illustrations together.
The tie-in book to the film "Tangled". I really liked that the book used a lot of stills from the film. The text is so-so. It would have benefitted from using some of the dialogue from the film but I am assuming the author/publisher chose not to do this due to copyright clearance issues.
Tangled is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. This book was the movie told in storybook format which I loved. The artwork in this book is incredible. I couldn't help but admire each page. If you enjoy picture books or Tangled, you should give this book a go.
This book follows very similarly to the Rapunzel most of know and love, but there are a few twists that make it different from the original. For example Flynn Rider the man who "rescue" Rapunzel is not a prince!
I remember reading this when it was out as rupanzal was and still is my fav Disney Princess, it obviously the exactly same as the movie but still hole and a special place in my heart ❤
Tangled tells the story of Rapunzel, the long haired princess kept in a tower by an evil witch posing as her mother. Disney once again raises the bar for animation, combining realistic, digital landscapes and finely-detailed, dimensional characters without sacrificing the classic Disney cartoon style. Rapunzel definitely deals with her share of problems- she lets her mother decide everything for her and waits for a man to escape from her prison- but these issues are resolved when Rapunzel finally stands up to those who have used her in the past. Recommended for elementary viewers, this movie will surely strike a cord with young, Disney Princess fanatics.
can't believe i had to stand in front of the mirror with long cloths draping around my neck after reading the book and then watching the cartoon film...Oh yeah twas really fun though with the little humble princess stuck in the tower with the evil witch that stole her from the kingdom when she was very young to later be saved by a handsome prince....
