This was my first book by K.C. I went into this not knowing much about the book nor K.C.'s faith, which came through prominently with Christian morals throughout the entirety of the book.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it just wasn't what I was expecting.
The plot at first, had me on the edge of my seat. Very fast paced, nail biting for sure.
Things start to shift once our 18 year old traumatized FMC who witnesses a horrible act meets a 30 year old MMC who, through a period of time, she falls in love with.
It would have made more of an impact, for me personally, if we would have witnessed this young lady come out of her trauma without the dependency of a man.
I can understand the curiosity, the attraction, but this girl needs to live her life as the witty, intelligent woman that she was portrayed at first, and then meet this handsome man.
There was a lull, with what felt like tried to become another layer of suspense, but it just felt out of place.
No spice, which is fine, but how can we have emotional tension when she's never even kissed or been through a relationship before? It just felt off. I don't know how else to explain it.

Incredible Suspense Story with Depth!

A story of the power of a steadfast mind, strong will, faith, and the ability to trust in another. This is a pulse-pounding romp that will keep you reading well into the night. It’s a story of a teen as she actively survives in the aftermath of tremendous grief. Losing everyone she’s held dear, and with no time to grieve, Krista is propelled forward. As she makes a plethora of important decisions, she discovers why her parents taught her the skills she’d need; the skills to survive. Can she trust Oliver Paige, the handsome agent, colleague, and friend of her parents? He’s the only person who has even learned of her existence. New to their relationship, both Krista and Oliver learn much more than they bargained for.
Tension, suspense, and an emotional read makes The Last Safehouse stand out!
The following quote resonated with me as a good reminder that God gives us each the skills we own, and we need to use them to fulfill His will—no matter what circumstance we find ourselves in: (Krista speaking)
“I've prayed and prayed for God to use me in a special way, to take advantage of all the skills my parents taught me, my God-given intellect, my interest. This suits everything.”
Big decisions, ongoing action, a seemingly impossible romance, with faith intertwined inside these pages, makes this story one exciting read! Highly recommend!

I know many reviews start with “This book grabbed me from page one and never let go.”—but this one literally does!

Krista Fitzpatrick’s life is shattered on her eighteenth birthday, and from that moment on, the story is a nonstop ride of danger, secrets, and survival. The pacing is tight, the stakes are high, and the tension never lets up. I loved how the story unfolded layer by layer—you’re constantly questioning who can be trusted and what’s really at stake.

Oliver Paige is exactly the kind of protector you want in a story like this—strong, loyal, and willing to break every rule to keep Krista safe. Their relationship develops naturally under pressure, and the emotional connection feels earned, not rushed.

What truly set this book apart for me, though, was how K.C. weaves her faith into the story so gently and beautifully. It’s subtle, meaningful, and never forced. The Scriptures from Krista’s parents’ letters, listed at the end—followed by a prayer for the reader—was incredibly touching and shows so much heart behind the story.

This is a powerful start to The Last Safehouse Series, and I can’t wait to read more! Action, emotion, faith, and suspense—all done right.

Highly recommend!

Interesting

A story about A young lady Watching her parents get killed by assassins. The only reason I gave it 3Instead of 4 or higher Is that it was too wordy and repetitive emotions. It could be cut to 250 to 300 pages. . The plot was great Though and there were some surprises.
