“I’d rather be the lowliest private on the righteous side of history, than the supreme commander on the other."
It’s early 1865, and Nathan Chambers is growing increasingly frustrated as the Civil War grinds to a bloody stalemate around the Confederate capital of Richmond. To make matters worse, he learns that Evelyn’s life is once again in jeopardy from the ever-dangerous Confederate Major White. Determined to save her, Nathan and Tom Clark take matters into their own hands, slipping into Richmond on a daring mission to rescue Evelyn and gather intelligence on enemy fortifications.
Meanwhile, as General Grant finally breaks through the Confederate defenses and pursues Robert E. Lee’s retreating army, another deadly threat emerges. Nathan’s longtime adversary, Elijah Walters, is determined to exact his final revenge—this time not just on Nathan, but on his entire family.
In the gripping conclusion to The Road to the Breaking series, Nathan and Evelyn find themselves in a desperate fight for survival, proving the ultimate test of their Resolve.

I loved this 10 book series. Yes, something of romance in it, but mostly I found interesting were the battles...historically correct and I learned more about the fight between the north and south than I ever knew. The author writes about the correctness and the part he added as fiction. Very well done. With every book I couldn't wait to get into the second one. I highly recommend reading the series in order. There is very little looking back so you only know the characters by going through the years with them.
This is a long series, about a subject that I don’t normally read, but I guarantee it is so filled with adventure and excitement that I could not put it down. The stories tell the story of the civil war. The major characters are, the very beautiful Miss Evelyn and the handsome and the dashing Union officer Nathaniel Chandler. You will not be disappointed with this series.
This has to be the best series I've ever read. Such in-depth writing that it makes you feel like you were there. The story was fantastic with danger, companion ship and above caring. To not read this series would be a great loss for you. Would highly recommend this series to everyone that enjoys reading about this time in our lives whether you are from the north or south.
What a fantastic series! Chose the first book because I'm a fan of historical fiction, but I got hooked. Begin in Texas.... end in West Virginia. Do you like adventure, military, history, friends, family, romance, war, peace, and more? This is the series for you. Hurray for Chrs Bennett! Well written and researched. I very highly recommend this series.
I like the history that was portrayed throughout the series. Justice prevailed. President Lincoln was a great man taken too soon. Family is not necessarily blood related. Family is people loving each other and working together for the good of all. Thank you, Chris, for writing this detailed story a sad time in our country.
I love the history in the books and I also.loved the story of Nathan , his men and their women. Chris Bennett did a wonderful job with the history and the whole story. Its been a pleasure sharing me thoughts with friends about these books.
Predictable but great! I really have enjoyed this series. Just enough of actual history mixed in with some dynamic fictional characters woven into a very entertaining tale!
I didn't want to finish this last book as then the series would be over! Such a great storyline in each book! The ending with all of them was awesome right down to that piece of paper!
I have just finished reading the entire series. I have to say, this has been one of the best series of books I have ever read. Absolutely a truly amazing amount of historical research makes this a stunning work of faction. You could almost smell the gun powder.
OMG, Resolve, indeed!! Hollywood, what are you waiting for? I can't wait for the movies, at least a 10-part TV series...Chris Bennett, you've totally "rocked" these 10 books out of the park!!😍😘
